The Bearer of Truth #2

Surviving the Shadows

Rate this book
Gabriel has been gone longer than predicted, and Evander is growing increasingly worried each day that passes without his return. Confounded by their leaders’ lack of answers, Evander and the team begin to fear the worst.

In the midst of fruitlessly searching Miami for clues to the Daemon Abaddon’s whereabouts, Evander begins to have disturbingly vivid dreams. With a little help from a newly returned and empty-handed Michael and Barabbas, Evander discovers Gabriel has been calling out for help across their nascent bond, and they set off to rescue Gabriel from the depths of the Underworld.

Gabriel is old friends with torture, and his captors haven’t been gentle. Despite growing weaker every day, Gabriel resolves to survive long enough for rescue, or to die fighting, until a Dark Seer begins to dredge up the terror of Gabriel’s horrific childhood, threatening to destroy his mind and soul. Nearing the end, Gabriel manages a last-ditch effort to contact help, reaching out to Evander in his dreams.

Against all odds, Evander and the team fight through the Underworld to reach Gabriel and come face to face with mortality. Sacrifices made for the bonds of brotherhood nearly break them, and Gabriel learns the hard way that embracing the darkness while fighting for the light may be the only way to survive.

From the underbelly of Reno to the glitz and glam of Vegas, Gabriel, Evander, and the men they call family will be tested, and the final confrontation with Gabriel’s maker may be the end of everything they hold dear.

Surviving the Shadows is an approximately 100,000-word LGBTQ urban fantasy with a romantic subplot. It is a direct sequel to Shadowing the Light and reading the first book in the series is essential to enjoying this one. Please see the disclaimer on the Copyright Page for content advisories.

Ms Turner has delivered a fast-paced, adventurous story that shows importance of friendship and being united in times of trouble. The book is told from multiple POVs, is very low steam and romance is put on a back burner. It can not be read as a standalone. The characters are diverse, the plot has twists that kept me engrossed till the end. The book mentions grief, physical and mental abuse, panic attacks, childhood trauma. I loved Ms Turner's depictions of Hell and all its creepy crawlies - at times gross and fascinating.

Evander and his Bellator team are ready to move forward with their mission but Gabriel has been missing for some time, and there are no leads. But through his tenuous connection to his mate Evander is able to locate Gabriel. It takes all their combined strength to get him free but tragedy strikes them when least expected. They have to deal with their grief, Gabriel has to heal and get past what was done to him, and they have to keep going.

I liked that Evander made an effort to change, to be more compromising and patient with Gabriel and his team mates. It will take a while to bridge the gap between him and Gabriel, but this time he is determined to prove that he can be understanding and compassionate. The bond between friends is deeper than ever as they support each other and try to prepare for the moment they get a hold of Abaddon. I liked their camaraderie, their humor and light teasing. I genuinely like Gabriel. He is that kind of man that will give the shirt off his back to those who need it. After all he's been through, he needs someone to love him passionately, and it seems that Evander is finally coming up to scratch. As they move from place to place they manage to save innocent lives, finally have a decent lead and learn more about themselves.

The finale of the story was spectacular. Gabriel was a powerful adversary that held his own against one of the strongest Daemons of Hell, Abaddon. Evander, Gabriel and their team mates came out of it bruised but alive, so maybe now some questions will be answered. It was a very well-built story, and I am curious to find out what happens next. Full review tomorrow when I'm at the laptop.

Miranda Turner delivers her second book in this urban fantasy paranormal series with the same level of detail and big action adventure as she did the opener.

It's another romp through the pages as Gabriel struggles to connect with Evander, the fight to discover who is behind the plot to end his life, and the search for his Daemonic Prince father, Abaddon, continues at a pace.

Romance takes a back burner in this one and it completely makes sense within the narrative, although I have to say I felt more for Evander in this one and Gabriel was occasionally a bit of a dick but I did understand where he was coming from.

There're new characters brought into the fold and the team has to deal with an unimagined situation which is unexpected and all the more shocking because of it. Interesting twists and turns bring another chapter to a close but without narrowing down the overriding arc and I'm dying to see where it's going to go next.

I'm deliberately being vague because there's a lot of stuff going on in this one and it would be a shame to spoil any of the different ways the journey splits and meanders, suffice it to say, it's all handled with skill and great attention to detail.

So far I've really enjoyed both books in this series and I'm looking forward to more.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review

All the team did was eat and sleep. Nothing happened, there was no growth with any of the characters. The only exception being Evander. I liked him more this time around. This book was nothing but lots and lots of angst. Evander was so pitiful it hurt to witness 🥺. He spent the majority of the book pining for Gabriel and wanting to show his growth as a person and how worthy he was as a Mate only to get rebuffed time and time again.

Why were Gabriel’s feelings the only ones that mattered? It seems like he was the only one allowed to feel hurt, sad, angry etc. Anytime Evander slipped up and showed any kind of emotion he was smacked down. But, Why? He had every right to feel how he felt but was constantly and collectively put down by everyone around him which IMO is lousy AF 😒. As much as I liked Gabriel in book 1 this book made me dislike him with a passion. I doubt I’ll bother reading book 3. 😩

2.4 stars. Even though the 1st book in this series had a lot of issues, I genuinely had a fun time with it. It was action packed, thrilling, at times funny. This 1... not so much. The progression of a plot line is literally almost nonexistent. It’s 200+ pgs of characters never actually doing anything, just standing around in hotel rooms telling me what they need to do & how they feel about it. I don’t think I’ve ever read this much emotional exposition in my life.

I think this one was better than the first book. I like how the story and the relationships develop.
At the moment I can't imagine how this story arc will be finished in only one book, so I hope it is not than a trilogy.
Mrs. Turner is doing a great job in developing the relationships .... or at least all but the romantic one.
I totally understand why we had the falling out in the first book and I think it was necessary for the storyline
But I only see Evander trying and Gabriel not so much.
I hope the next book brings them further together ... but please, no more misunderstandings or fights. That would be too much for me I think.

So all in all, well done and I really hope the next book comes out soon

Unfortunately weaker than the first book. Although explained by the PTSD related to his capture, Gabriel's complete personality change into an indecisive character took away the magic that made the first book such a great read. This one also could have easily been edited down by I'd say ~30%. I can deal with a whole assembly of new characters who seemed to more represent a checklist than an organic introduction, but when the main characters personalities are shifted to such a degree as we see here, it just turns me off.

Surviving the Shadows is the second book in The Bearer of Truth series by Miranda Turner.
This is an LGBTQ urban fantasy that has a romantic factor and continues the story started in the first book, Shadowing the Light. Gabriel, Evander and their found family of men lead us readers on an amazing adventure filled with well written story, incredible world building and colorful and wonderful characters.

This story delivers a mix of dream walking, demon orgies, torture, rescue missions, gods and Goddesses, a journey through into the Underworld, sacrafice, loss/grief, emotions and action. Really exciting and interesting read and I can't wait for book three.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

I absolutely love Shadowing the Light, book one, and I couldn't wait to read book two and I was in no way disappointed. This was a roller-coaster ride from start to finish as Gabriel and Evander try to come to terms with who they are to each other while trying to find Abaddon. When Gabriel goes missing it's a race to find him. This is so not a standalone read, I enjoyed every minute of it and I cannot wait to see what's next for Evander, Gabriel and their family.

Here in the second book of The Bearer of Truth series, the focus concentrates more on the healing Gabriel and the team need to get through, as well as the mission to locate Gabriel’s father. Both Gabriel and Evander take a step back from their soulmate situation to work on themselves so that they can actually prepare to take another step forward together at some point. This opens things up so that we start to get additional points of view in the story, including from some of their enemies—something I really liked and which worked well here to give the story extra depth.

While I generally read urban fantasy books for the adventures on which they take me and to get my supernatural creatures fix, this time the author threw me for a loop and had me CRYING just a quarter of the way into the story. Given the character over which I was dropping my tears, it was wholly unexpected on my part—but the fact that it WAS that character just enforces that the author did an excellent job of making me care about him even when he started out being a real ass. This also made me realize that I would probably have that same reaction about a lot of the characters in this series that are on Gabriel and his team’s side.

Gabriel’s character experiences a great deal of growth, unfortunately sometimes that does come after experiencing a great deal of pain. But he’s learning more about himself and what he’s truly capable of, and he’s taking his team along for that ride. Magic starts to play a more prominent role, something Gabriel must accept and adjust to.

Evander is also going through character growth, something he absolutely needs to be able to eventually move his relationship with Gabriel forward to the point where they can fully complete a bond between them.

Surviving the Shadows is another exciting entry in the series, and right now I’m eagerly awaiting the next book to see where things go from here. And I mean that not just for Gabriel and Evander, but for the rest of their team as well. 4.5 stars!

🔥🔥 Heat Level: 2 (definitely chemistry and feelings but due to what the characters go through not really part of this story)

So many emotions!!!!

This story is epic, emotional, powerful and heartwarming. I love Evander and Gabriel!!!

So much happens in this story I’m not sure my words can do it justice! Gabriel goes through so much in this story; emotionally, physically and relationship wise. I loved book 1 and book 2 does not disappoint, I couldn’t put it down.

Possible themes and/or triggers: abduction, captivity, torture, PTSD, child abuse, grief, sexual assault, abuse of power among others.

There are so many things that happen it’s hard to write a review without spoilers, so be warned…

LIKELY SPOILERS BELOW!!!

***

The journey to save/free Gabriel from the underworld is intense and totally heartbreaking! Someone significant sacrifices themselves for Gabriel and it broke my heart! I was totally waiting for/expecting a loophole that brought them back but alas, their destiny was written (I’m not crying, you’re crying). The grieving the whole team endues was hard but very well done by Miranda. I could feel for each character and their unique process through their grief. I especially felt for Rafe.

I love Evander’s character development and love that he is slowly changing, broadening his mind and opening himself up to Gabriel. Its wonderful to see their chemistry and even their fledgling relationship get stronger. I like that Evander’s progress is slow, its a lot more realistic and I feel fits the story perfectly.

I love that we get to visit past characters; Antonio and Bain and I love new magic user and Aura Reader, Nico. He’s the perfect combination of wit, sass, and power! I loved his introduction and how he was eventually brought into the team/family!!

The showdown with Gabriel’s sperm donor is explosive, literally and figuratively!! A fantastic development for the series and I can’t wait to see where Miranda will take us next!!

Amazing writing, face-paced, action adventure, and so much heart, I just love all these characters. I can’t wait to see how powerful Gabriel is and how his relationship with Evander will grow! 5 stars from me!!!

ENG- So well well well.. well I really liked Volume 1 of this series. I waited impatiently for Volume 2 which took a little time and when it finally arrived I threw myself on it.

So, I will not be able to say that I was disappointed. It's not quite that either. But I must say that this is not quite what I expected.

I liked what the author offers us. I loved finding the characters, the universe, I liked to discover a little more and I'm still a fan of Gabriel and Evander.

However, a detail of the beginning of the novel slightly pained me. Although this point is very important for the rest of the novel it is not the main plot, fortunately.

What I missed the most is the relationship between Gabriel and Evander. I understand the choice of the author. It is even completely logical with what Gabriel suffered and this is to report because most of the time, the authors tend to zap the trauma part and to blow their character in the arms and the bed of the first comer without holding account of what they experienced. So frankly hat to the author for taking this party and even if I understand and fully validate this choice, I can only admit that I was a little disappointed not to have more intimate moments between Gabriel and Evander.

Beyond that, I loved the plot that the author offers us. I loved finding the characters in the first volume and discovering new ones. I liked the new plot that Miranda Turner offers us. I also liked to resume the plot of the first volume and the direction taken by the author in this volume.

I liked the mix of humor and action that emerges from the novel and all the elements related to mythology.

In summary a good second volume. An author who proposes us a novel of quality and a universe always so powerful and controlled. A slight disappointment for me, but I am very late for the third volume.

What a fantastic sequel to book one in this urban fantasy series. Miranda Turner has carried on the superb story line that follows two men and their team as they fight for the side of Light against Dark and look to stop paranormal occurrences/events. The series is a continuing story line so you have to read the books in order and I recommend close together or at least refreshing your memory to ensure you remember where book one left off!
Book two starts very closely to where book one ended and there is already trouble for Gabriel as he has been taken and in need of help from Evander and his team of Bellators (remember to read the glossary!). This is just the start for the group as they get closer in their search for Abbadon, Gabriel's father. So much happens throughout this story and again, I just wanted to consume it all straight away. There are several epic action sequences that kept me enthralled to see who would come out on top. Different bad guys that you just love to hate kept our team active and on the go, searching out ways to stop them and try to prevent any further consequences. The mystery of who was doing what behind the scenes is something to keep everyone guessing and the daemons that are created to fight against the team sound so gruesome! I'd love to know how the author came up with the ideas for them.
Relationships develop with highs and lows often caused by external forces but also from within the team. There is a huge blow that affects everyone, including Michael and Barrabos, but it makes for heartwarming reading as loss can sometimes bring people together and appreciate what they have even more. Evander does not help himself when it comes to moving forward in his relationship with Gabriel, such as it is, but his own character grows in a lot of ways because of what he's experienced so far and gets to see things from a different perspective as he and the team work with Gabriel. Gabriel goes through so much in this book and truly shows his inner strength and how much he is willing to fight, especially as he bonds and becomes closer with people, an experience he was not expecting when this task first started. We get to meet a few new characters who help the team in their own personal development and have a great impact on the plot.
There is a lot that I could rave about with this book, along with the first in the series, and I cannot recommend them enough. The first surprised me with how great of a story it was and even though I was expecting it with Surviving the Shadows, I was still blown away and can only say thank you to the author for such an incredibly well thought out story and written world that she has created. So excited for book three to see how the team move forward in their task and if anything more happens for Gabriel and Evander.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

4.5 Stars!

Surviving the Shadows is book 2 in The Bearer of Truth series and it needs to be read in order or you'll be very lost. And frankly, if you're a fan of urban fantasy books, this series is one you don't want to miss out on.

After reading book 1, I wasn't all that sure Ms. Turner would manage to redeem Evander. Yes, he seemed to be in the path towards being less of a twatwaffle at the end of Shadowing the Light, but I didn't expect the turnaround we had in this installment. It was a good surprise, though, and it didn't feel forced or unnatural, so bonus points for that, and it wasn't like he didn't struggle with his a**holish ways throughout this book, it was just that he was more open to Gabriel and their bond and actually listened to his friends when they called him out on his behavior.

I loved Gabriel and it was great to see his growth, too. He's had to go through so many things, back when he was still a little boy and now, and it was amazing to see him finally connect with both his Angeli and Daemon parts.

I really liked that Gabriel and Evander's relationship showed some progression. This is very slow-burn, but all things considered, it felt very organic to what we've seen of these two.

Again, the team was awesome and while I'm saddened by the loss they experienced (and really, who would've thought that would happen after book 1!), I adored seeing them in action and bonding even further as a big family. I'm unsure what to think of Nico, honestly, there was a part that left me wondering and I can't wait to see if my suspicions are on the mark or not.

Overall, this was a fantastic addition to the series! There were a few parts that felt a tad repetitive, but they didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. Surviving The Shadows was fast-paced and action-packed (especially the last part) and while there were a few parts that were heartbreaking to read, it was still entertaining and I can't wait for book 3! Very recommendable, just don't forget to read book 1 first. ;)

Surviving the Shadows is the second book in The Bearer of Truth series by Miranda Turner. I loved the first book in this series, and I think Surviving the Shadows was a great addition to the series. After reading and loving Surviving the Shadows, and now I cannot wait for the next book to come out. If you have not read the Shadowing the Light, which is the first book in this series, then I strongly advise reading the first book first because the second book starts soon after where the first book ends. Also, the second book will be confusing because the first book does a lot of world-building and introducing the characters.
There are a few things that I really loved about this book. First, I love all the characters in this book. I love Gabriel and Evander, who are the main characters, but I also really like learning more about the secondary characters as well, including Evander’s team. In this book there was great character development in this book. I especially loved seeing Gabriel and Evander continue to grow closer together. I really like how even though they know that they are mates and attracted to each other, but they do not instantly fall in love and get super close with each other. They have to work hard in communicating, learning to trust each other and just getting to know each other. Another thing I really liked about this book is the humor. There are some serious parts in the book and there is plenty of action and danger, but there are also several parts that are just fun. Also, I really liked how in this book, we continue to learn more about the world itself and how it works. Some of my questions got answered, and now I have more questions. This book was well-written and from the beginning I was really into the story, and I had a hard time putting the book down.
Overall, I loved this book, and I definitely recommend this book. I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out! Also, I am hoping that some of the secondary characters will have their own story eventually!!

🔥Book 2 Burns Down the House!🔥

Bearer of Truth Series
Book 2

**Warning...Minor spoilers may be in your future if you have NOT read 📚BOOK📚 #1!**

H-E-double-crossing-swords, BATMAN! Remember how Gabriel was supposed to meet the team in Miami after he and Barabbas finished "training?" Wellllll, guess who never showed because he has been taken prisoner and is now being held and tormented by a big gross, nasty, purple Daemon?

No one has any clue where the missing hero is and he has already been gone weeks. Evander is being plagued by horrible dreams where he sees Gabriel near the brink of death. The rest of The team have lost their hope in Gabriel's return. Angelus Michael blames the Daemon Prince, Barabbas, for Gabriel's abduction (even though Barabbas loves Gabriel).

And that's how the story begins!

It's a great big ol' pile of what the @#$%, I tell ya!😲

This time around major sacrifices are made, including one of their own. I was shocked and grief stricken right along with the team. He'll is no joke, and not for wimps, that's for sure.

The battle wages on in book 2, and the team enlists the help of one who has powerful magic to help train Gabriel and get him last his fears. Otherwise, they along with the rest of humanity may suffer at the hands of Gabriel's arrogant father, Abaddon.

Gabriel and Evander don't have time to focus on each other, and their bond as Sodalis Vitae, because Gabriel is struggling with his ptsd and there simply is no time. Between constantly saving innocents, saving themselves, fighting the enemy, training, and grieving, romance is dead.

Miranda Turner is one of my Top-five storytellers of 2019. I love all the action, and world building. The character personalities are multidimensional, and believable. I absolutely cannot get enough of this world.

Next book, Please! 💖

Themes/ triggers:
abduction • captivity • torture • PTSD • grief •

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Another well written story and I still love to see how in depth the world these characters have to navigate is. When we last saw Gabriel he was telling Evander that he would be back soon but as weeks go by with no word the team begins to worry. Thankfully Evander and Gabriel’s connection help them to find him.

I liked how much different Evander was in this story since he has realized that he is not as perfect as he had always been told. And while he resolves to work harder on his and Gabriel’s relationship, which he does, it’s hard to do when they aren’t sure if there are on the same page. Gabriel’s experience in the underworld makes him have so much more to work through but he is so much stronger than he gives himself credit for.

This story goes more back and forth between the characters, which I liked as it gave me more of an insight into Evander. I hope that as time goes on Gabriel can see that it isn’t as necessary to sacrifice himself but that he can use more help from the others and I couldn’t help but feel that these two could support each other more if they would just let the other in. Finally at the end of the book it seems Gabriel and Evander are starting to be united as one and on the same page but I can’t wait to see what happens with them in the next book.

The cover art by Lou Harper is great and I continue to like the visuals of Gabriel.

Incredible world-build with fantastic characters and a plot that glued me to my kindle. The writing was awesome and i am hooked Gabriel and Evander. They are finally figuring themselves out. This is a really complex story with lots of supporting characters that we come to know and love. i laughed and i cried in this story as things happened that just broke my heart. I laughed with lots of the snark and some of the situations will make you chuckle. This has such a complex plot that you will be wanting to read cover to cover and will resent whatever interrupts you from reading.. like sleeping.

The The Bearer of Truth series really must be read in order because of the plot and character development. The world-building continues to develop in this book and you will need the foundation of book one to understand and enjoy it. I am really hoping that the author has this made into an audible series because i would be buying it first thing. Book three should be coming out before the end of the year and i have a reminder to look for it.

Highly recommend this series!!!

Strong

I fell in love with this series at book1 and this one does not disappoint. The growth that Gabriel and Evander go through is terrifying and yet necessary for them to move on and possibly move closer together.

The beginning was a surprise, but it works great for the set-up to the rest of the book. Lots of changes occur because of what happens. I feel for the guys, but I think it helped to pull everything together.

I'm getting more attached to Evander with this book. We spend more time with him and see how he has changed from the beginning of the series. He always the best with expressing himself, but he's is working on it which is great. Gabriel is still learning to accept who he is, all of him. Once he opens himself to his full potential he will need more guidance and help in controlling his power.

I seriously can't wait for book three. These guys have my attention and are pulling on the heartstrings. I'm scared for what might be coming, but hopeful that the team will survive it.

Paranormal/UF MM Adventure

3 stars!

This book is book 2 in the Bearer of Truth series and due to an overarching storyline they should be read in order.

Book 2 was less awesome than book 1. It felt like a bunch of stuff happened but nothing really happens either. I still hate Evander. I hate the relationship between those 2. I hate that everyone acts like Evander isn't entitled to feel how he feels just to make Gabriel feel better. What I hate the most it how it doesn't depict a healthy relationship.

That being said the story did flow smoothly and while these characters can't seem to get it together the story was cohesive and, at points, the story was compelling.

Overall, it was a solid effort and if you can get past the Gabriel/Evander "relationship" than it was a good read.

I didn’t realize how much I missed these guys until I got this book. I went back and reread the first two of the series because I like to remind myself who and what I am reading about, plus I enjoyed these so much that they needed a reread anyway.
The relationship between Gabriel and Evander is going to be a point of contention between the author and me, I do believe. Hahaha, There is a sense of cluelessness in Evander that always rises to the forefront of any communication he has with Gabriel. I remind myself of the reasons he is the way he is, but it still irks me. And you would think that Gabriel would be a bit thicker skinned but no. Oh, the heartache and pain that this is causing these two mates (and the reader) as they step closer to each other only to have the other push them several steps back, is excruciating at times.
Things are not as…fast paced I guess…in this book as they were in Shadowing the Light and A Blaze in the Dark. That's not to say that it's not interesting and exciting in its way, it's just a different excitement than in those books.
The quest they are undertaking brings them all closer together, even Evander and Gabriel when they can get their respective heads out of their rectums and work together.
There are wonderful secondary characters that keep the storyline flowing and the main characters on their toes. Michael and Barabbas are a constant source of interest. The tension between them is beginning to be a big thing, and I am curious where their storyline will go.
I enjoyed Surviving the Shadows and look forward to more from this author.

This is the second book in The Bearer of Truth Series. I would suggest reading the books in order or you might not understand things in book 2. An interesting book the writing was good, although I did feel a bit like hurry up and wait as I read. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Gabriel and Evander are the MC’s of this book and mates. The secondary characters are great too. As a good and evil type book I can recommend as a good read. It will be interesting to see what the next book holds for the future. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Gabriel, Evander and the others are just starting to work as a team when Gabriel disappears.
And they will not only have to sneak down to the Underworld to save him, they also have to continue the fight against the Deamon that is Gabriels father with the aftermath of Gabriels torture still affecting them.
I loved the addition of Nico to help the team and it was heart breaking to see them loose a member that was finally finding his true self. And I would have liked to see a little more of Murmur, he was a interesting character .

I can't wait to see where they will go next and get more of Gabriel and Evander together.

It's a sequel to a mm paranormal angel versus demon adventure. The first half of the book deals with rescuing Gabriel from Hell, a section I skimmed. Then on to Las Vegas, where they liberate a magician from someone's evil clutches. Finally, there's a showdown with Gabriel's father. The book concludes with a hint to their next mission.
The team grows closer even as they suffer loss. Evander's relationship with Gabriel takes one step forward and two steps back.
Typos: some repetition, incorrect verb tenses. tack pants for track pants (twice), "first things first" written as "first thing was first."

I can’t believe the second book is finally here, I really missed these guys. The author’s writing and how she describes the characters and scenes is spot on for me. The plot is fantastic, the two MCs and secondary characters were hilarious. Gabriel and Evander’s issues from the previous book is still present in this book just not as prevalent. Evander and his team travel to the underworld to get Gabriel back saving him from the continued torture of his father. With the introduction of a new team member and the loss of another one this book will keep you on your toes. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!! I highly recommend this book!

Great 2nd book

This follow up was as full of action as the first. There is a very slow burn romance, very slow, that only makes you want I read more and to cheer for Gabriel and Evander. I am so invested with the secondary characters that Ms. Turner made me bawl and reach for the box of tissues. I hope I don't have to wait to long for the next installment. It will be on my one click list.

I didn t enjoy this as much as the first. Luc s death was unnecessary, he was just coming around and has the biggest personality on the team. Without him there, the rest hust became a crying snooze fest. I also detest how little development Gabriel and Evander s relationship has had. We re at the end of book 2 and they re still dancing around eachother, going on their first date. Basically there is no romance or much passion in this story. I haven it decided if it s worth continuing.

Good

This book was more emotional and darker than the 1st but still very good. I enjoyed Evander and Gabriel and want to see their bond grow more in the next book.
