SAPD SWAT #2

Addicted to You

Rate this book
Michelle is my addiction. She’s sweetness and light wrapped up in a delicious package. Almost as delicious as the confections she makes. Until now, I’ve kept my distance to make sure my darkness doesn’t taint her. She’s better than a killer who sits behind a scope.
I watch her from afar. Getting dragged under her spell a little further with every sweet smile and mischievous grin. I know I’ll cave one day, give into the craving to be near her. Being in her presence is a feeling like no other, one I can’t seem to resist.
Unfortunately, I’m not the only one living under her influence. While I was watching her, someone else was watching too. But she belongs with me, no matter what anyone else wants.
Now I need to make sure she gives me my next fix of her, even if she’s too stubborn to admit she wants to. She’s my addiction, cure and redemption all rolled into one. Her soul calls out to my own. I’ll make sure she’s as addicted to me as I am to her. She’ll crave me - if it’s the last thing I do.

Nikki Mays is a pen name that was created from her maiden name. She is a wife and mother, who lives in a small town in New Jersey. She has been with her husband for well over a decade and is surprised that he's still alive. She has 3 small boys that she loving refers to as her hellions. Seriously, they only look sweet and innocent. She began writing as a creative outlet after becoming a stay at home mom. She decided that she needed something exclusively for herself, not just being mommy. She has two crazy boxers that legitimately think that they're humans but graciously share "their" couch with the rest of the family. Besides writing and spending time with her little hellions, she enjoys cooking and baking. She has recently taken up gardening and made her loving husband plant her a mini fruit tree orchard, that unfortunately deer get to eat more of than she does. Life living in the woods can be a pain at times! Nikki loves to be stalked by her readers and encourages all interaction.

❝Want to lose weight? Drink water. Want a clear face? Drink water. Tired of your man? Drown him.❞

If you are looking for something light and fun to read, I really recommend this series. Damon and the rest of the gang are hilarious, especially Marc who is a man-child! 😂😂
Damon was broody and even if they were officers of the law they were not sticklers to the rules. I really got a kick of what JJ said of what’s gonna be their “team building”. 😂
Overall the story was okay, I had fun reading it. Sadly though the editing issue got worse 😦
Can’t wait to read Marc’s story 🥰

This is the first book I have read by Nikki Mays but it certainly won’t be the last because this was a good, witty, smexy and well-written read that kept me entertained from the first chapter to the last.
The crazy banters between Damon and Michelle and the rest of the close-knit group of friends and family members cracked me up all the way through. They were really hilarious at time. Can't wait to read Marc's story in the next installment. I listened to the audio version and enjoyed the narration and voice of Reagan Boggs who did a great job!

Damon has wanted Michelle in his life but can't bring himself to do anything about it. He sees himself as all darkness and she is everything bright. That didn't stop him from basically stalking her and driving away any guys that showed a smidgen of interest. Michelle is attracted to Damon but the way he acts makes her kick herself for that attraction. He is a jerk, grunting and such, ignoring her so she figures he hates her. When Damon hits his breaking point, he figures he isn't good enough for her but he would be stupid to let another guy swoop her up. Now he has to convince her that he has had these feelings all along. Will Michelle take a chance on a big grouchy hot pain in the butt named Damon?

I usually don't read a lot of romantic comedies. The stuff that usually happens in them isn't funny or believable so it comes across as ridiculous and annoying. This is not one of those books! Addicted to You was funny, sweet, sexy, scary and totally believable. Damon is a tad clueless as most guys are. Michelle is a strong chick with vintage fashion sense and a strong sense of self. Her and Damon along with their crowd of friends are magic! This is the second in a series but I haven't read the first one yet, so I can honestly say it stands alone. It did make we want to go read the first one as soon as I can. I loved every moment I spent with Shell and Damon and I can't wait to see what Nikki Mays brings us next!

Overall I liked this book. Damon has been in love with Michelle for a long time. He finally starts talking to her. Things get complicated due to someone being after her. Luckily in the end everything works out.

Good story but those errors...

As with the first book, I really liked the story but there seemed to be even more errors in this second book. I found myself having to reread lines, which was a bit annoying. There were missing words in a lot of sentences that was a bit distracting while reading. There was one line during sexy time where it says “ first he inserted one finger, then fingers”. How many more fingers? Did he go from one to two fingers, or did he go to four? Who knows?
I liked how once Damon decided he was done fighting to stay away from her he just went all in, but I loved how Michelle didn’t just give into Damon when he decided he was done staying away. She made home work for it. Like the last book, I loved Mellie’s banter with everyone especially with Michelle even at inappropriate times.
I really like the two books and story lines that I have read so far from this author. I would have given a higher rating but the grammatical errors and missing words took away from my reading experience. I will still continue with the next book because I am curious about the other characters, I just hope the editing is better in the future books.

Damon is the quiet, broody, grumpy man of the swat team. He has one thing he loves more then anything and that is Michelle- but she doesn't know it. He's spend two years keeping his eyes on her while keeping his distance. Even with Morris finally getting Mellie.

Til finally...

Michelle wants what her best friend has, as co-owners of the Sweet grind, they share a lot. But Michelle getting Damon seems to be out of the question.

I really loved the plot behind this story and each time I get to learn more about the Swat team the happier I am.

Loved the epilogue- Does that mean we get to see Marc's story next?

I would love to see Declan, Rocco and JJ all have their HEAs. Even in novella sized books I'd be happy.

This story has action, steam, banter, strong independent women with lots of silliness and mighty fallen police officers.

I loved this story about Damon and Michelle. He was so gone over her and she was clueless . She thought he was hot but mean. Once they started talking the shenanigans began. The whole SAPD SWAT team is back for this round and up to their usual ways.

Another enjoyable read with action, humor, and some nice steamy scenes too.

Heat level was 🔥🔥🔥 for this one. Can't wait to see who falls next.

So this was the second book in the series. We had met Damon and Michelle. Damon is a police officer and his extra curricular activities are stalking Michelle and scaring off any potential suitors, these group of guys are crazy. I was a little disappointed to know that he had stalked her for 2 years and then didn't treat her very nicely, I did not buy his reasoning for it. Yes I am glad that they worked thru it, but I wish that part had been a little different. Love his brother! I so can not wait to get Dec's story..Rocco and JJ too. Enjoy!

Great read.

Loved this book. Alpha male all the way. The creepy twin thing and the stalking was a hoot. Cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

*I read Book 1 & 2 back to back so this is a review for both*

(I’ve seen a lot of reviews for both books claiming that a good editor would help a lot. I don’t know if I had final versions or ARCs but there were a lot of mispellings and grammar issues. As a regular reader of review copies though, this kind of thing doesn’t really affect me but I wanted to put this out there as a warning to others who may be a little more discerning :) )

There are authors that write characters that could be straight out of Gilmore Girls (I’m looking at you Susan Mallery), always ready with a snappy comment. Then there are those characters who are sophisticated, never saying a wrong thing and who always make me feel like I need to work better at this adulting thing. Mays seems to have found a voice that is like that conversation you have with your bestie after a couple of glasses of wine. It’s unfiltered and sometimes graceless, but it is real for the homespun characters she’s created.

In Surrender to You, Morris has had a thing for Mellie for a while but since she’s his friend’s sister he tried to stay away. Unfortunately, his feelings are pretty apparent and after a while her brother is so tired of his awkwardness that he gives the OK. Mellie is just as dorky when Morris is around so there is a lot of fun to be have while the two are dancing around each other. And it doesn’t stop when they get together because these two definitely have a lot of personality. (Mellie fighting with her brother is the best thing ever!)

Addicted to You is a fun follow-up that has a lot of the same vibe. Damon is a pretty curt guy, but I love the way he and Michelle mesh. She’s so full of sass that it helps bring him out of himself just a bit. I got such a kick out of these two together, and their interactions with their friends are both sweet and hilarious.

The SAPD SWAT stories are delightfully fun romantic comedies with entertaining characters. I enjoyed how the couples got together & watching them piece together a life with each other. The friendships help make it a winner as well. It is quite obvious that Michelle and Mellie have been friends for ages because those two are a hoot together. The guys are your typical guy’s guys – giving each other a hard time, a little rough around the edges – but they have good hearts and are supportive of each other. The lack of angst is a real winner for me and overall I felt the suspense parts, while not a huge part of the story (especially the second), are done well.

The SAPD SWAT series isn’t going be for everyone, but I think that it will be a huge hit with the right audience.

**Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**

Mistakes, errors and typos...

So I wrote a review for the first book in this series, stating the the errors in grammar and spelling in the first book were bad. If possible, book had even more errors and mistakes. I took a chance and read this one because the "book blurb" begins by stating this book has been re-edited. There times in the book when I was trying to figure out the words, because the author either transposed them or didn't put them in the sentence at all! Unfortunately, at times, I just gave up (in frustration) trying to understand and skipped the sentence or sentences that made no sense. Again, I really hate that the mistakes throughout the book took so much from the story. I think this author has a lot of potential. I just don't understand why anyone would intentionally publish a piece of work without insuring they are putting their best efforts into it. Investing in a good editor would be in this author's best interest. This author should really consider investing in a reputable editor.

Good police drama

Hilarious and drama are somewhat of an oxymoron...until you listen to this book! Michelle co-opens a bakery shop with her bff, Mel. Mel’s hubby and brother are in the SWAT team...along with Damon and his twin, Declan. Damon is not known for his loquaciousness, in fact, he’s a bit of a grump. He has, however, been hovering in the background for two years, watching ‘Chelle. For her part, ‘Chelle has also been watching Damon and is frustrated because she has no clue why he doesn’t like her. Once the pair finally get on the same page, it’s fireworks. However, it appears that someone isn’t happy that Michelle has found her man. Will she survive to have an HEA?
This book will have you in stitches...the banter and antics between the group is hilarious! There were times when the book dragged a bit but overall it was great. Looking forward to the next book.

Good story line but lack of editing

I was excited to see book 2 of the SAPD SWAT out. I enjoyed the storyline of book one and had high hopes of two.... but unfortunately ended up with the same rating.
3 stars. It once again has good plot potential, but seriously lacking in editing. By page 3 there was a typo 🙄 Multiple spelling errors, wrong tenses used and just grammar issues throughout the book.

Another thing I noticed... Michelle doesn’t swear... “fluffing” is used a lot. But throughout the book, it’s as if that was forgotten and in her internal dialogue she starts swearing. Sorry, but if someone doesn’t like to swear, they wouldn’t call someone an Asshole or refer to your best friend as “ride or die bitch”.

If the series continues, I will probably read it because I see the plot potential. Maybe she just needs beta readers or a different editor?

Who knew having a stalker could be a good thing? Damon mooned over Michelle for two years, scaring away any man who displayed interest in him. Michelle is clueless about his stalker ways and thinks he dislikes her. When Damon realizes his actions are making her doubt herself, he pursues her instead of hiding in the shadows. She uncovers the soft core to his taciturn exterior. As always the rest of the crew - his fellow SWAT teammates and Mark's sister - are as entertaining as ever. Seriously I'm not sure I've read another series where the secondary characters are as lovable as the main characters. Damon manages to romance her while still a grump, it's quite endearing surprisingly so. It doesn't hurt that Damon has abs for days and shows Michelle what she's been missing in the sex department. When it turns out Michelle has a second stalker - that the boys never saw spying on them as they spied on Michelle - the team is called in to save that day but Michelle and bestie Mellie (heroine in book 1) show that are more than capable of protecting themselves. The teasing and banter between all the characters is everything - pure comedic gold. I especially loved that as stealthily as they stalked Michelle not one of them realized someone was following them and the girls refusing to let them live it down is priceless.
My only complaint is that this series is in desperate need of an editor, it's a distraction from what is otherwise a 5 star series.

Addicted to You by Nikki Mays is book two in the SAPD SWAT series and features Michelle and Damon’s story. Damon has literally been stalking Michelle for two years but has been too scared to ask her out as he feels like she is too light for his darkness. In doing so and only grunting at her in response to anything she does, he might have cut off his nose to spite himself and needs to try and get into her good graces again, if only she would stop hindering him every step of the way!

Michelle has put up with a lot from Damon and just doesn’t get where he comes off demanding things from her all of a sudden! Yes, he may be hot and she is attracted to him, but in other ways he completely gets on her last nerve! She may let him into her hear but first she is going to make him pay!

I really enjoyed the banter between these two characters who have been sniffing around each other for a while. There is definite chemistry between the two and when they do eventually get together…wow! Other characters also have a hand in the story and give some great if albeit hilarious advice whilst just rubbing Damon ‘the quiet one’ the wrong way. Twist and turns are a plenty when Michelle’s life is put in danger, and I can’t wait to see what happens to the rest of the guys in this series. Overall, a fun, contemporary read!

Excellent Story

When they say opposites attract, not does it ever. You have Michelle, the co owner of The Sweet Grind that looks like a pocket sized fifties pinup and Damon The six foot plus, tatted and occasionally grumpy (make that always grumpy 😁) SWAT sniper. Damon stays away or at least tries to stay away from his hearts desire Michelle. She just thinks he kind of creepy. Yeah right, so creepy that she wants to climb him like a money. The attraction between them sizzles and The banter between them hysterical. The story shows the closeness of the group and how they are there for each other.
I like that the story is told from two points of view and not just one sided. The humor in the story had me laughing out loud. Except for some minor editing its a great story. Would like to see what type of woman We can winds up with.

Addicted to You is a new romantic comedy from Nikki Mays that will leave readers laughing so hard and so much they cry. Damon, Michelle, and their wacky, hilarious friends are back. Damon has loved Michelle from a distance for years and been a "creepy stalker" type that runs off ll the boys, Michelle has lusted after Damon for years but is frustrated and annoyed with him for waiting so long. Full of doubts, insecurities, crazy, funny friends, a stalker, wit, flirtatious banter, passion, and love. Addicted to You will have readers laughing and captivated by the suspense Damon and Michelle must face. I absolutely loved this new book.

Damon is a behind the seems to have a guy. He’s a growly man that doesn’t dislike people people, but he has been trying to stay away from Michele for years. She has been wanting to catch Damon’s eye for awhile but he won’t budge. The thing is they both want the same thing but Damon thinks he isn’t good enough for what she needs, but Michelle knows he is a quite sweet man who will take care of her all she wants and needs. They embark on a relationship that isn’t defined right away but Damon knows she is his and no one can take her away. There are secrets that come out and need things to come out. It’s a great book that takes you on a trip to laugh cry and get angry but in the end it’s all about family.

Michelle is running a successful business with her best friend Mellie (who we met in the first book) and things could not be going better...except in the dating department. Every time she attempts dating, something happens to scare off her dates...turns out that the scary looking broody alpha male that won't talk to Michelle just can't stand the thought of her with another man. Damon finally realizes he needs her light to his dark and as feisty as she is and as Alpha as Damon is, the two fit perfectly. There is a hint of danger lurking in the story line to add to the plot.
I really like the characters that have been created. They are funny but loyal. Each story leads to a hint of the next. All in all a sweet and low angst read.

I think these books could be really good, like 5 star good, if there weren't so many spelling and grammar errors! This one was worse than the 1st book in my opinion as far as missing words and so forth go. There was also a lot of repeating of scenes or saying something and Shell would look surprised when it had been mentioned at least once already, so that kind of threw me. I was not a fan of Damon I found him to be rude and the things he would say to Michelle I thought were nasty. I would have knocked him out. I found myself laughing out loud a few times. I may continue on with the series because I really like the girls and Marc but this one just didn't hold my attention as much as I was hoping.

How did the editing get worse? Seriously. The first book you notice it here and there, but you turn a blind eye because hey it's a first book and not a huge deal.

Every few pages in this one, there's some sort of word error. It's so frustrating. Not only can an editor catch all those pesky have/has, to/too, your/you're &and wrong character names but a good one will cut down on some of the unnecessary wordy bits (I skimmed a bit I admit)

Sadly I don't think there's progress from the first one. If there's a third I would probably give it shot. Though hopefully it's not another stalker plot. Two just might count as one too many.

This book is one that the alpha man didn't feel like he was worth bringing this women into his life. So instead of sharing his feelings he decided to be jerk around her. He didn't know that she actually had feelings for him as well, but with the way he treats her she felt that he didn't like her. This kind of reminded me of grade school when a boy or a girl like someone and they would tease them instead of telling them they liked them. Saying this it still was a great story line. When he wakes up and realize he better step up before she is gone the story really starts getting really good. Author did a great job telling this story.

This is the second book by Nikki Mays that I have read. I read the first installment in the SAPD SWAT series that focused on Mellie and Morris, and I liked it enough that I wanted to read Addicted to You, which focused on Mellie's best friend, Michelle, and Damon, who was the moody, broody SWAT member. I liked this book, as well. I like the characters, although, again the inner monologue got annoying after a while. But there is something about Nikki Mays' writing that keeps me coming back, which says something.

While this book wasn't a book that I will probably reread, I am glad that I read it, and know that many people will love it!

I am only 48% through this one, have put it down/picked it up 4 times. Very slow and dry --- she is a baker and he is SWAT, he is finally making his move towards her and "supposedly" there is someone else watching her well I am half way through and so far nothing .... the characters are ehhh ok but nothing that would stand out...the entire series sounded great but having a hard time finding it. Books 2 and 3 were KU which is why I grabbed them but even as a KU its hard to read... I am returning both and marking it down as a DNF.... add in poor editing just not worth my time on this series.

ok, hear me out

Listen, the reviews that mention grammatical errors and spelling errors are not lying. They definitely exist, but they aren’t frequent enough to take away from the story line. The character building in this series is top notch. The interactions between characters is amazing. There are a few instances of problematic language, but they aren’t malicious in any way. If you enjoy alpha-hole, stalker lite romances with strong female leads who also don’t take themselves too seriously, you will probably love this. It’s a short, sweet read with some seriously hilarious character banter. I haven’t laughed this much reading a story in a while. Definitely recommend!

O.M.G. - So, so good!

I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
I absolutely loved the first book in the series but I must admit, although I was looking forward (so much) to this second book I was a bit wary as to how Nikki was going to match how brilliant the first book was. I needn't have worried as she totally rivalled if not excelled the first storyline, I absolutely loved this book as much as, if not more than the first - please don't let this be the last in the series as I'm seriously needing my next book boyfriend!!

Michelle calls damon Grizzly. He grunts most of the time, onlsays 1 or 2 words to her, but she just is smitten with him. Damon has kept his distance and doesnt want to infect her with his darkness. He loves how she smells and her look. He hides his feeling but doesn't let her knownthat he has been stalker her, uf he can't have her than no other guy will either. He even has the help of her brother. Once these 2 get together,  there are sparks. Once i got this book, i couldn't put it down. Great work!!

This book is quite hilarious. The guys in this book have a tight bond. It's super easy to tell with how much they tease and harass each other. I loved reading how they got each other or the stupid things they do. Damon is a quiet stalker type or at least he was for Michelle. He would watch and shield her from other guys. While they don't exactly get along, there's an attraction between them. These two turn up the pages on your kindle. They explode when they get together. Damon also has a sweet side, which is always good. This was a good book with fun characters!
