Throne of Embers by Marie Robinson has become my favourite book of the stories. With elements of little Shakespeare references that are wonderfully integrated into the story, chapters that have me wanting more. Each chapter will captivate you and just as you think one was your favourite, you’ll be sucked into the next one.

This was an epic conclusion to Ella’s story, and again the character POV’s across the chapters are so well written and defined.

I highly recommend the entire Beautiful Secrets series and wish there was still more to come from theses characters, but the story has been wrapped up perfectly.

THRONE OF EMBERS was the thrilling conclusion to the BEAUTIFUL SECRETS series and I loved following Ella, Merlin, Brom, and Romulus on this journey. The pace slowed down a bit for book 3 but it was more about planning, strategizing, and figuring out how Ella would control her phoenix powers. I'll admit I didn't fully understand what Ella learns about her powers and their origin but it was certainly beautiful imagery. As usual Ella and her men are completely devoted to each other and I'm glad they finally got the happy ending they deserve.

This book wandered even further off the path we were introduced to in the first book - the FMC Ella now had to deal with visiting the greater fae and even to figure out the secret to controlling her powers. My issue was that everything seemed to fall together a little too easily for her to make it a good juicy conflict, and Ella's OP powers didn't really help. She learned how to use these new powers with skill quite easily within the course of days, it seemed, and the ending battle as a bad-ass vs her evil stepmother and stepsister was rather cheesy.

The story kept bringing up how it was unusual for Brom, Romulus, and Merlin of three different syndicates to work together, but yet, their fathers kept trying to work together with Madam Jupiter, either in bed or to take down Ella -- isn't that the same concept, albeit with a little more hate-love?

Madam Jupiter was also quite a nebulous villain - she never really showed up in person after the first book until the latter half of this one. Her characterization was mostly painted by Ella's own memories and a story from her mother. I don't recall Madam Jupiter being quite so violent and bloodthirsty as this book made her out to be either. She seemed to had just used Ella as a slave in the first book to do housekeeping chores while her family plotted to take Ella's legacy and inheritance, and no real physical abuse occurred. In the first book, most of Madam Jupiter's original hate towards Ella seemed to be due to her role in her father's death, and the prophecy about being the cause of the end of the world was just the topper. However, in this book, it's revealed that Madam Jupiter had multiple people assassinated for various personal reasons, and Ella kept mentioning that her stepmother had a "violent and rotten soul, capable of the greatest evils," which was quite the huge change. I also didn't quite understand how Madam Jupiter managed to get the leaders of all the syndicates to listen to her and keep them in line - shouldn't they all have had their own power? Madam Jupiter didn't have a legacy that gave her a huge amount of power like Ella - why would they want to follow her lead? Aren't there other powerful warlock families that should have chosen sides as well?

The character development in the harem continued to be generally pretty flat and uninteresting, and it was just a bunch of lust between Ella and the men. We still didn't really get many details about the specific traits of each type of supernatural race - we learned most about the fae to be honest, and they were only a temporary stop. Plus, trying to figure out when Ella was or wasn't wearing a mask and what kind of fancy or not fancy mask or veil she decided to wear for an event was rather confusing.

Overall, while it was a unique story-line with rather formulaic subplots, I think the first book on its own was still the best. I didn't really like how Ella's story developed or was concluded, although there were plenty of hot smut scenes. There were a few mini stories that were told that I could see possibly spinning off into their own series -- I might be interested in reading them for curiosity's sake.

Amazing conclusion!

I have always enjoyed reading stories regarding phoenixes and the myth of being reborn from ashes so this immediately piqued my interest. The author did a fantastic job of twisting the Cinderella fairy tale with plenty of paranormal and fantastical elements to make it her own unique story.

The origin of the Phoenix was different and not something I had expected. I still enjoyed the direction that part of the story line ultimately took. It was just another twist that made this story unique and creative.

The steam was still hot in this book and we finally got a little more than just a hint of MM but it wasn’t over the top or overshadowed anything else in the story.

I plan on reading more books by this author because I think she did a tremendous job crafting this story for her readers.

Loved it

I absolutely loved this story. This was an action filled book. There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming. I love that we got to hear from her mother about what happened when she was little to make her leave. Even after everything they still were able to connect with each other. I’ve got my fingers crossed that there will be a new series based on the ending. You’ll just half to read it for yourself to find out. If you liked the first books on this series then I think you’ll love this one.

A perfect ending to a fantastic trilogy. It even left our little group with an opening for a new series, if desired. I couldn’t have asked for a more delightful finale. The baddies got what they deserved. The good guys overcame
evil. And we got a HFN. Just brilliant!

Brilliant read!!!

This third book nicely closes this story but gives it scope to continue if the author wishes to. And I hope she does as these characters work well, read well and this series is a joy to read.

Great wrap up to the trilogy. Still lots of action in the story, both in the bedroom and out. I really enjoyed the way everything wrapped up in the end. Great story!!

First because amazing this one was not a great, follow up. The story never felt flushed out. I’m addition there was a couple parts where it was confusing what was occurring. There were a lot of errors.

Slightly anticlimactic ending imo. This last book in the series doesn’t match the excitement of the first two books.

Burn It All Down

I’d probably give this 3.5 ⭐️ if I could.

After being attacked on the way to the airport, Ella and Romulus manage to escape by the skin of their teeth and end up on their own on the flight to Ireland. Together they travel to Tir na nOg, where Ella needs to go to try and learn control of her powers. If she can’t learn to control them, then she’ll die and possibly take the world with her.

This final book in the trilogy is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I understand that the author didn’t schedule this series but it simply forced it’s way into being written by the determination of it’s characters. This is probably why I felt like that the last book tried to fit too much in to too short a time. A lot happened in this final book and it felt like in a few places things weren’t explained as well as they could have been because of it.

I also felt like the characters weren’t given enough room to breathe because it was so plot focused. This is fine for people who prefer plot driven books, but I really like character’s to be the main focus in the books I read.

The ending felt a little abrupt too. I was left feeling a little let down, and I think that is colouring my review. On the whole I really powered through this book, I read it greedily and quickly because I wanted to know what happened next, and then it was over before I expected it to be. The book is definitely worth reading to finish off the trilogy and I’d be interested in reading more from this author when she has more room to manoeuvre in her scheduling.
