Yes! Good and angsty for once without the hero being a complete ahole.
The heroine was the town princess, daughter of the town richest and meanest man, and the hero was infatuated with her in high school.
He asked her on a date and she accepted, because she was into him too.
But he’s not rich enough, and the town bitch and future bike, a mean girl who’s just jealous of her and the hot guy, tells her father she’s dating the boy from the wrong side of the town and so her mean and nasty father threatens the heroine that, if she doesn’t end it with him like, yesterday, he will:
- take away her college
-leave her without money
- renege her as a daughter
- ruin the hero’s family
-take away his chance at college
-push the red button and cause 3rd
- kill all firstborns in all the world.
Ok, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but only a bit.
So the heroine decides to save the world and the hero, and treats him with icy contempt rejecting him and humiliating him, and of course breaking his heart.
Five years later.
She’s back, with a broken wrist, and in the process of divorcing her very rich and very abusive husband.
She meets the hero again, who for some five minutes holds a grudge and treats her with contempt, but then apologizes and starts gravitating around her.
He was also dumped by his fiance because he wasn’t rich enough, so he holds a double grudge now and only wants the heroine as his friends with benefits.
I must admit this heroine, rejected by all her family because she dared dump the golden boy even if he hit her, was really nice, strong and real.
She made friends with two girls who were abused by their father and she tried to reconnect with all people in town.
Everyone thought she was a spoiled bitch while she was only a little lonely girl that had a bastard sob of a father who was ready to sell her to a monster for his own purposes.
It was sad how alone she was, and how strong she managed to be.
The heroine decides soon moves on from his grudge, and in the end all is well, even if imo it was a bit rushed, because the husband soon to be ex tries to break her and the hero up and then manages to beat her black and blue, but it was all summed up in a couple of pages.
It would have been good to see the hero’s angst when he found out she was beaten and fighting for her life.
Her father is out of the picture too in the end, and her brothers apologize to her, even if one of them was trying to trap their father and so he pretended to be on his side.
Both had partners after high school, but they weee never together before, and the heroine was married.
After they reconnect I think they were both celibate, the hero had a former FWB but it looks like when the heroine is back in town he doesn’t see her anymore.
It was good and interesting, and I read it without stopping.
What I didn’t like was that in the end, the heroine first sacrifice for the hero was never said, I mean it was where all started and I wish the hero knew what she did for him when she was a teenager, but apparently it was never cleared, so it went lost.

2 disappointed stars for lazy writing.
The book started off great, I was hooked from word one ....... till I wasn't. Too much telling and next to no showing does not a good book make.
Juliet has returned to her home town after leaving her husband with a purple cast on her arm. I assume it was due to domestic violence till late in the book, but instead of the author building on the whys she has Juliet flash that blasted purple cast over and over again. Juliet is the town's mean girl Ice Princess who, in her mind, isn't really because she didn't actually do anything to anyone but instead stood by and let her "friends" do the mean work. Yeah, no - that makes you a mean bitch in my book.
Juliet's family have ostracized her, we know this because we're TOLD this over and over ad nauseum. We're not shown this and the author doesn't go into any detail to explain it, nor does the ice princess try and make amends. Oh no, our meanie just sits and feels sorry for herself, for the. entire. book.
The book is also dedicated to Freya and Max, who take up a large portion of it. The same Freya and Max who have already had their story.
And then, the finale. Her soon to be ex gets hold of her and beats her up, we know she's injured because ..... cue the green plaster cast on her arm. Seriously, I have no words. And because of said green cast, her brothers miraculously forgive her with zero discussion, Prescott blurts out that he's been "investigating" the father and her ex and now everything is resolved. And there wasn't much more detail than what I've stated in that sentence either. Oh and her mother is divorcing her father. Oh and Juliet's not a poor ice princess any more because her nana left Juliet her fortune so all's well in the world. This "finale" was pretty much wrapped up in a couple of paragraphs. You couldn't make it up.
I want to read Prescott's story else I would ditch this series right here, I'm that hacked off and disappointed. There were so many missed opportunities with this book, it had the makings of a great read but for me it was anything but.

Jake is a character I fell in love with in book 1 of the HOCO series, It’s Not Home Without You, and can hand on heart say I’ve been waiting not so patiently for this book to be here, ready. The Bear is mine.
I wasn’t disappointed at all. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but both main characters in this book have travelled paths that affect their stories, their lives, that takes this particular story down a very different path to which I envisaged Jake’s aka Bears story going.
This gives depths to this book that take it to a different level. Other characters in the series begin to shine for me too, and am hoping they get a chance to full on beam in a book of their own.
If you want a story to give you all of the feels, angst, it’s there in buckets, heat, sass, camaraderie, chemistry, love, you’ve got them all.
The hot male characters, the sass of the heroines, the prevailing male pratt who begins to shine in a completely new way, the cute siblings that start to shine more and more.
C Lymari, you more than did good on this book girl. 🥰

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm addicted to C. Lymari's Homecoming series!
You Were Always Home is Jake and Juliet's story.
Holy cow! I think it's my favorite so far.
Juliet has returned to her hometown, Sunny Pines. A place where she's not welcomed by her peers and even her family.
Jake is the guy everyone loves but has been reminded a time or two that he's a blue-collared guy.
This story goes back and forth from past and present.
The past explains the connection Jake and Juliet have.
I don't want to give away any spoilers because the build up in this story is phenomenal.
Each one of C. Lymari's stories are emotionally intense. This story I think is the most intense to date of her stories!
C. Lymari had me wanting to sob in one moment and the next paragraph would have me laughing out loud - usually because of Rosie.
This story has domestic violence in it and may have possible triggers for people. I think the way the author incorporated it into this story was done in a way where I think it will hit home whether the reader has been affected by it or not.
This story can absolutely be read as a standalone. HOWEVER, to TRULY appreciate C. Lymari's writing, you should read them in order. With each story, the reader is getting the information from those characters point of views. So what one character sees in one story may or may not be the actual truth or the entire truth. It's amazing!

Wow, wow, wow! This book was beautifully written. Yet again I couldn’t put it down! I just devoured it! C. Lymari knows how to write emotion sooooo well! I had tears in my eyes and my heart in my throat! But don’t worry she knows how to deliver an HEA

I feel like I’ve said this with every book of this series, but I think this is my favorite one so far.
Ms. Lyrami is one of the best when it comes to weaving the past and the present together in one story.
You will feel ALL the emotions with this book. Now bring on the next HOCO book.

" My favourite C. Lymari book. You won't regret reading it!"
This is the best of author Claudia Lymari. I have read all her previous book(I am lucky enough to receive ARCs of her books) and she just outdid herself with this one! I started reading it and I just couldn't stop. I only took break when I was too sleepy to read! I was supposed to be doing my assignments but I couldn't for the life of me put it down! I finished reading it in less than 10 hours and after 'The End' I started reading the bonus chapters.
It was very refreshing to know that all of these lovely characters are having a great time with their lives in Sunny Pines. I am looking forward to the next book in a series with no great amount of anticipation. I have a feeling that I am going to love that I too(okay who am I kidding,I know I am gonna love it. I love everything about her writing).
Anyways,the book starts with Julia(Max and Prescott's sister) coming back home to a small apartment and completely on her own. It was previously indicated that she had an unhappy marriage and this book takes place after she cut all ties with her husband. We don't know what happened yet but it can't be good if she ended up with a broken hand and a fragile spirit. It was evident from the previous book that Juliet went through a lot to fulfil her expectation as the only daughter of her demanding parents who loved social status more than their only daughter. Basically the girl was left our of all support from her family in a time when she needed it the most. I really really felt her struggle from the bottom of my heart. I knew her to be a less than nice person in the previous books that I read but here the author went deep into her character. All her doubts and insecurities were laid out for the readers to see. The price she paid for coming from a well off family, the expectations that she had to carry and fulfill cost her the only man she loved. And Juliet loved Jake. With everything she had. They didn't get the chance to be high school sweethearts because of their less than favourable circumstances but for Juliet Jake was it until she had to let him go. And I found that part to be tragic as well as selfless, something most of will not be able to do at such a young age. I dare say that Juliet was brave inspite of everything that happened to her. She was a great support for Jess and Rosie. That part of the story concerning their relationship was one of favourite (which is to be honest most of the part). And when she came back home neither she nor jack can help themselves. They started falling for each other again. Or may be they never fell out of love? Their romance made me giddy with anticipation of what was to come next. I was wide eyed and fascinated to see how this all will turn out. The looks here,the touches there, their excuses just to see the other, it was all very charming to see the least. But one problem that always stayed with these was Juliet's 'marriage'. Jake didn't know how deep Juliet was in trouble with her marriage. That you'll have to see and find out.
Another lovely thing about Jake is his family. I loved Jake's family. All of them starting from his brothers, his father to his more than lovely,warmhearted and supportive mother were wonderful addition to this novel. They were like a whole support system not only to Jake but by extension to Juliet,Jess and Rosie. Infact,all of them contributed to Juliet's developing character!
Last but not the least, my favourite Prescott. I simply can't wait for his story. He becomes better and better with each book. He was a rock to Juliet here. The very defination of protective older brother but with a lot more subtlety about that. When it comes to Max, I was really disappointed in him. I discovered a basic flaw in him and I am quiet bummed about that but Freya was amazing and funny as always. The girl had been so cool and outgoing and simply Freya. Nothing can go wrong with that girl. All of the previous characters were present in this book though all the focus was on Jake and Juliet. And the exciting and budding relationship between particular characters which made the foundation of the next book. I can't tell you about it now just simply wait a while for thatone but I can say that it is going to be mind blowing!
Last and really last but the import issue which the book is centered on is Domestic Violence. Women, irrespective of social status,rich or poor, seemed to be a victim of it and unable to let go simply because they 'love' the person. The author pulled this story so graciously that it was a wonder how time flew so fast while I was reading it! But this scenes really hit home for me.Its so wrong yet so common. Not only phisical violence but mental too. Some taunts here, some backhanded remarks there and suddenly we begin to doubt everything we love and stand for. This alone is very difficult for anyone who goes through it.
Anyway as you can see from my long, long review that I loved this book. Miss Lymari is not only a lovely person but she is a great author. As I said earlier, I am lucky to get these ARCs. If you haven't read her books yet, this one is a great way to start. It can be read as a standalone but contains major spoilers but this one is the best of all the books in the series.

“You Were Always Home” de C. Lymari segundo libro perteneciente a la serie “Homecoming”. Es un romance contemporáneo con segundas oportunidades incluidas que hará una historia súper bonita, aunque con momento que te pondrá los pelos de punta.
Juliet Dunnet vuelve a la ciudad donde creció, esa ciudad que no le traía buenos recuerdos, pero empezando de nuevo podrá hacer nuevos y esta vez buenos momentos. Y nada mas que se cruce con Jake Carson, recordara su pasado con él y como tuvo que hacer las cosas, mal, pero por su bien. Ahora todo será muy diferente y ambos retomaran el pasado que les une.
Es muy diferente este libro a los anteriores que he leído de esta autora. En este nos muestra el pasado tormentoso agobiante que tenía Juliet. Ella que todo lo que hacia era para ser feliz con ella misma y con sus hermanos y una y otra vez la dejaban que se hundiera y que finalmente acabará con una persona mala para ella.
Gracias a esos momentos del pasado conocemos su historia con Jake, pero también como estuvo involucrada en todo lo que pasó con Max y Freya, cosa que no tuvo culpa, pero aun así todo va dirigido a su persona. Y me encantaron esos momentos con Jake y la clase de arte tan tiernos, simplemente dos adolescentes enamorados.

"You Were Always Home" by C. Lymari, the second book in the "Homecoming" series. It' s a contemporary romance with second opportunities included that will make a very nice story, but with a moment that will make your hair stand on end.
Juliet Dunnet returns to the city where she grew up, that city that didn't bring her good memories, but starting again, she will be able to make new, and this time good moments. And as soon as he comes across Jake Carson, she will remember his past with him, and how she had to do things, wrong, but for his good. Now everything will be very different, and both will take up the past that unites them.
This book is very different from the previous books I've read from this author. In this book, it shows us Juliet's overwhelming past. Everything she did was to be happy with herself and her siblings, and again and again, they let her go down, and she will finally end up with a horrible man.
Thanks to those moments in the past, we know her story with Jake, but also how she was involved in everything that happened with Max and Freya, which was not her fault, but still, everything is aimed at her person. And I loved those moments with Jake and the tender art class, just two teenagers in love.
“You’re driving me crazy, you know?” The roughness of his voice gave me chills. “You are nothing but trouble, Dunnett.”
All the moments of the present have been wonderful. Both, with Jess and Rosie, have shown such a big heart when they were with them. Adding thanksgiving and Christmas moments when they could feel unhappy not having someone on their side.
“Because it’s always been you! You were always the one I thought of when everything in my life was falling apart.”
Even the suspense is present in the book in the last chapters leaving a final apotheosis and very closed. Who will be the next couple to leave my mouth open?

Wow! This book was so amazing! C. Lymari is a phenomenal writer! She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I loved Juliet and Jake! The emotion she brought out in this book really had me on a roller coaster. I loved we got to see more of Max and Freya and Dex and Emma and we dig more in to Jess and her family who are Juliets neighbors that are going through domestic violence as well. There’s some pretty tragic parts in this book that are so sad and there’s definitely the hot and steamy sexy parts too!! This book also has a really amazing HEA that was beyond what I was expecting! I can’t wait for the next book! I know it’ll be just as good!

It was a beauty of a read, it’s a second chance frenemies to lovers story, it takes on domestic abuse theme but it’s not super dark. I did not stop at all until I finished the whole book, it was that good!! You get to love the characters, Jake is a kind of a jackass but you get why he is the way he is and he has his prince charming moments 😉 and Juliet my god!! I fell in love with this character she has a beautiful soul she is the kind of woman who knows she did wrong and is trying to change for the better and tries to mend broken relationships.
Juliet is running from her ex husband, and goes back to her home town to start a new life, but because of her past and who her family is, the towns people don't like her very much but she changed so much, she is a much better person, she sees all the wronged she did and wants to fix it.

January 8, 2026My favourite book yet from C. Lymari. Jake and Juliet are just soooo good together, I love them! Juliet is strong, beautiful, and resilient. Jake is sexy, swoony and caring. As well as the two of them, I just fell in love with Jake's family.
My heart hurt for them both, and I was rooting for them to get their HEA. Juliet has been burned but managed to escape her abusive marriage (or has she?), and Jake has trust issues. Can they overcome their issues and fall in love?

You Were Always Home is book two in the HOCO series and while each can be read as a standalone, I believe you will connect with the stories and secondary characters better if you read the whole series. In these characters you will see sass, chemistry, love, heartache and healing throughout each story. This one will touch you a little more as it covers domestic violence and how fate while cruel allowed for healing to occur on more than one person as you will see in this story. Leaving this as bland as possible to avoid any spoilers. Juliet is a Dunnett and one of two families who are rich in their small town. You were meant for brighter things whether you agreed with this or not being in this family. It was actually quite heart-wrenching reading her story and seeing how her family especially her brothers treated her during this time. I will say a brother redeems himself at the end, but still no person should have to please others to get through life. As you will see Juliet is stronger than she realizes. She went from riches to rags and then some, but she didn't let this get her down. She pushed forward as others may not have. I truly believe that while sad what occurred it lead her back to town for some characters in this story outside of Jake. There is one person who always held her heart, they weren't quite friends you can say or anything really, but Jake and her had a connection in H.S.. She did what she could to protect both of them. Jake is the town's sweetheart you can say. He's been burned a time or two at love/lust and when Juliet comes back to town, he can see changes in her, but how far can a person really change? Well you will see after reading the story. Haha The connection they shared in H.S. is still there, but does he allow his conclusions to ruin what could be? We see not only their story, but the secondary characters. You will love some, want to shake some and hug others. I love the connection with Jess/Rosie. Jess truly did hide things at best, but Juliet was able to pull a side we loved out of her. This story will touch your heart over and over. While we know that there is one more book coming in this series and the author marks it as final, I am holding out hope that we get a novella on Jana/Rusty (which I think will be touched on a little more in the upcoming book, maybe based upon who the next story is on, but I could be wrong as there are two up for who is potentially next-Prescott or Clark) with Jess and Blake getting their HEA's. We know where Jana/Rusty are, but a combined story on a few of these secondary characters would be an awesome 2.5 book to close the series. This ending leaves your heart whole after everything that was developed. So until the next HOCO is released enjoy a cup of coffee or art of your choice to hold you over!

Wow, how does C Lymari, manage to make the next in the series even better? But she did, and I think out of the 3 thus far Jale and Juliet are my fave hot couple, dont get me wrong I loved 1 & @ and both sets of couples and their stories sucked me in and set me up for the next instalment.
What can you say about Jake? Let me count the ways. I loved all the underlying feelings that these two had for each other and I especially loved how it was still all based around our past characters and fave Coffee Shop. It was like returning to watch my favourite episodes in the Series Hart Of Dixie.
Sunny pines where the coffee is hot and fine and the Men are hotter and damn fine. Take a yonder in this series, I guarantee you wont regret it. So looking forward to our next alpha hero coming through, Prescott Dunnett. Now here is a man worth looking forward to. Enemies to Lovers, loved it want more and I want to move to Sunny Pines. First of all I feel like I should reiterate C. Lymari warning of ... You Were Always Home touches on domestic violence so if this is a trigger for you please process with caution.
I loved this book from C.Lymari. I was honoured to read this as part of her ARC team and this is my honest review.
This is a stand alone book however it does flow better if you read the previous books called 'IT'S NOT HOME WITHOUT YOU' first follwed by 'THE WAY BACK HOME.'
C. Lymari has a knack to captuture the emotions all the characters are feeling so well that as a reader you feel like you are part of the story.
Juliet Dunnett is a book keeper who has arrived back in her home town with a purple cast on her broken right arm. Her wedding ring may have been removed from her finger but the nightmare memories that she endured from her husband Chad would never fade.
Jake Carson had the body of a football player, broad shoulders, brown hair, amazing blue eyes.
Years ago whilst at school Juliet was forced by her father to become a 'mean' girl towards Jake when she was asked to go on a date with him, Juliet was threatened with numerous things which meant she had to be nasty towards the one and only guy who she actually liked. This gains her the nickname 'ICE PRINCESS'
Juliet's character is strong and brave because one day she has to relive her past all over again in the form of her next door neighbours. As a result she takes Rosie & Jess under her wing so much so they become her family unlike her real family that have abandoned her.
This story is so full of events and emotions a true page turner which you won't want to put down. C. Lymari has handled the topic of domestic violence in a tasteful manner.

I've had to wait a little while after I finished this book to write a review so I could collect my thoughts. And even now, it's still hard to form words about how amazing it was. This book wrecked me in the best possible way. I had no idea what to expect going into it, but it definitely wasn't what I got. What I got was so much more than I could ever have expected. There is a trigger warning for themes involving domestic violence, but if the triggers don't bother you, you will not regret reading this book. It's such a beautiful story of love, regret, and healing, and of finding love and support in the most unexpected places. I loved seeing Juliet slowly come out of her shell and find herself, and I loved seeing Jake slowly realize that maybe she's not the same girl he once knew. And Jess and Rosie! Oh, my goodness! I loved the introduction to Jess in It's Not Home Without You and The Way Back Home, but getting to know her more in this book was such a treat. And Rosie is the cutest little girl ever!!!
If I say too much more, I'll end up giving spoilers, and I don't want to do that. So instead, I'm just going to say that you need this book in your life!

Juliet - the ice princess from the best family in town - comes home, and it's a humbling experience. She's left her husband, and her family is upset about the shame she's putting them through. She didn't marry Chad for love, and he obviously didn't love her, and the perfect marriage was anything but. And now she's home with nothing. She and Jake had a thing in high school, but they didn't date. He's from the wrong side of the tracks, and her father threatened her, so she broke off what hadn't happened yet. He still reeling from has last big breakup, and not entirely sure he wants to get involved with her. This is a beautiful story of love, regret, forgiveness. Jake and Juliet have unbelievable chemistry - they always have even back in high school. Once they apologize and drop their preconceived notions about each other, they find out just how terrific they can be together. And Prescott - just WOW! This is the third book I've read from this author, and they just keep getting better.

My fav book in HOCO series so far.. This book is so amazing.. I am so amazed with the emotion you brought in each of you books, but this one really unbelieveable.. I love the stories, the characters.. I love the way you bring the meaning of "relationship" into your books.. Relationship between Jake and Juliet (I envy the love between them :) ), between Juliet and her bother (which bring me tears in the end), relationship between Jake's family member (which is so sweet) and the of course the relationship between Juliet, Jess and Rossie (I wonder how can you always find a way not only telling about a love between a man and a woman, but making me realize that you can love another person as your bestfriend, as a sister or a daughter?) When I read this books, my husband asked me why suddenly I cried and my answer is "you would not understand" :) The series is very recommended and addicting ;) Well done and I can't wait to read more of the HOCO series..

Oh my Sunny Pines! I just love this place. Love going back there and seeing what everyone is up too.
Jake and Juliet’s story was such an emotional one. But it was lovely and I didn’t want to put it down. There are some very serious issues in this one that might be an issue to some readers.
I have always loved Jake from the other two books. He just seemed so sweet and caring for everyone and I get why his nickname is Bear cuz I can see it with how he acts. So when I saw it was his story and Juliet was the heroine I was so excited!
You get a little bit of Juliet in the other books, not much but enough to get you interested in her and wanting to know more. She absolutely killed me in this book. My heart broke for her but to see how she took care of herself and others with everything she was going through, ugh my girl was so strong even if she didn’t see it.

Welcome back to "Sunny Pine" and "You Were Always Home" (HOCO series book 2) by the amazing and super talented Claudia Lymari. Can I just say this is for me the best book from Claudia, I absolutely love the story, the characters and everything about this book. Even though it cover domestic violence I think the way Claudia deliver this topic its amazing. The main Characters Juliet (which I absolutely adore) and Jake (who is ohh so sexy, loyal and caring) are the perfect couple who in reality had feelings for each other while in High school but circumstances didn't allowed them to be together then. Years later Juliet its back in town coming from a really bad relationship and determine to star all over and thats were she sees Jake again and sparks fly even though they try to deny it. This book gave me all the feels; lots of angst, love, happiness, sadness, it make me laugh but also made me cry because there were some very unfortunate parts in the story but also beautiful because from this like a phoenix it rises to healing and mending broken hearts. Bravo Chica *cheers and applause* you did it again Claudia, I love this series and can't wait for whats to come.

Just when I thought Sunny Pines couldn’t get any hotter, you through in Jake Carson and his dirty mouth!
Juliet, (apart from Emma) is probably my favorite heroine to date. She’s got such tragic yet beautiful layers to her. She’s not the person who I thought she was when I read Max and Freya’s story. Jake and Juliet are HOTT. Yes, with two T’s. Their chemistry is off the charts and you can tell from the moment Juliet arrives back in town, they never stopped caring about each other. Insert Jessa and Rosie and the Carson family and you’ve got yourself one epic read!

Loved this beautiful story with Jake and Juliet who knew each from high school. Jake was looked down upon and Juliet was the girl everyone wanted to be with. Years later she returns to town down but not out and it is Jake who steps up to help her back on her feet. Loved this story and the characters were both so wonderful and strong. Loved it!

This is a well written enemies to lovers romance between Jake and Juliet. The author does a beautiful job bringing out all the emotions and takes you on a roller coaster ride reading their story with all the issues with domestic violence as well as the social standings. It's both heartbreaking and heartwarming and had me glued to the pages from start to finish. Well done.

Jake and Juliet experience a lot of bad stuff in younger age. Now a little bit older they have a chance for happiness. Are they brave enough to face bad and change to good? This is beautiful story .

Mixed feelings on this one.
I've loved the first two books in this series (one was a novella), but I didn't connect with this one as much. Could be that Juliet was a b**** in the first book, so I already had dislike for her and her push/pull with Jake while understandable due to her history with her soon-to-be ex was also annoying. This story does potentially have triggers.
Jake was too casual for me and drove me crazy how he didn't try to delve deeper into Juliet's feelings.
I did really like the back and forth between past and present - it was insight into young Juliet and Jake that really added to the story. Her brothers were not very likeable in this one either. That was a surprise.
I still enjoyed the story overall, but parts of it were tough to read and both main characters annoyed me at times.

I enjoyed this new "Homecoming" story! It's a nicely developed story that was very intriguing and interesting. This is Jake and Juliet's story. I like the characters who have somewhat of a past. I like how this story flows from past to present giving us a glimpse into this couple that were attracted to each other but not really together. The story has a bit of angst, love, romance and happiness.

This story brings so many topics together, domestic violence, old high school sweethearts and society class statuses.
