I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book some day. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.
I live with my husband and two teenage sons in southern California. I have a Welsh pony and a miniature horse (down-sized from a barn of six horses). A crazy Labrador retriever who is a food vacuum, three cats, two parakeets, four bearded dragons (my compromise with my sons when they wanted a snake), and a small flock of chickens complete our menagerie of critters. I can’t imagine my life without my animals. My dream is to live in Montana some day.
Four years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own! What a simple idea, right? It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript. Today, I have a completed series of 5 books and a novella in what I called The Yellowstone Romance Series, two books in my new Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and I am currently working on the final book in a trilogy set in the Grand Tetons.
After what felt like an excruciatingly long wait for excited fans, the final full-length novel in the Yellowstone Romance series hit the shelves. I found it to be an all-encompassing epic and more than worth the wait. With so much to fit in, the book is significantly longer than any other in the series so can be savoured over a longer period of reading time.
Mrs Henderson does an amazing job of tying up all the ends and answering all the questions left unanswered in the earlier books, as well as providing a completely new romance, all whilst time travelling to various locations including Yellowstone and New York over a period of two and a half centuries. So much to enjoy! During the course of the book many familiar and loved friends make their appearance, as well as a brand-new main female character. I was happy to find that the hero is Wo’itsa – someone we got to know a little over the past couple of novels. It was great to become better acquainted with him and to find out where he fits in the grand scheme of the Yellowstone adventures. His love interest from the twenty-first century is quite a complex character and I enjoyed going with her on her journey.
As always, the author does a fantastic job of transporting her readers to Yellowstone itself with her beautifully descriptive word pictures of the area. I can, as ever, not just see the things she describes, but hear, smell, and feel them as well. The Yellowstone countryside is always a very significant non-human character in this series.
I could continue to wax lyrical about this wonderful novel but, aside from mentioning how perfect the ending is and how much it made me smile, I’ll leave it there before this review becomes too long. Suffice it to say that I loved this book and can highly recommend it – but only if you’ve read the earlier novels in the series first. Absolute maximum star rating to Peggy Henderson!
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All the above opinions are my own.
Note: This is not a stand-alone novel. Please read the series in order for maximum enjoyment. When I read and review a book I look for several things. First, the writing itself (Duh!). This story is well-written and flows smoothly. There weren’t any stilted sentences, in the story or the dialogue. Even when the character’s thoughts were revealed, it was natural. The story is complex with many twists, turns, and surprises. In addition to that, it incorporates many of the wonderful characters from previous books in the series. Cody Roberts is one of my favorite narrators and he delivers again. He's hit it out of the park with all the different characters from past and present books. He brings the book alive. Second, the characters: They are real and I connected to them. I can imagine them naturally doing and/or saying what they do. I could relate to them and their life issues, whether in the present or the past. I’m not much of an outdoorsy-type person, but I still appreciated their life and experiences. Third, the plot. Like I said, the plot has many twists and turns. Several times I heard myself saying, “Oh my gosh! I did not see that coming!” The stories make time-travel believable! Finally, the overall story and setting. The series is set in the Yellowstone area before it was set aside as a national park. I’m so enthralled by the descriptions that I am planning a trip there. Although the story involves life from the native Americans’ point of view, it isn’t political. The author left that for another to write about: Thank you Peggy! Overall, I highly recommend this series. It’s a great read with loveable characters facing real-life situations. And oh yes, plenty of romance. I loved it.
The Yellowstone series was the first book series I read on my Kindle. My daughter kept going on and on about Yellowstone Heart song and that I had to read about Daniel and Aimee, on my 50th birthday I got my first Kindle and my first book Yellowstone Heart song, I read it in one day I couldn't get it down. At that moment I became a huge Peggy Henderson fan! I now have everything she's written including the latest Yellowstone Legends. This book actually takes you full circle, it answers all your questions in addition to giving you a fabulous love story, some serious roller coaster time traveling, I know it took Peggy almost two years to write this one and I also know her fans bugged her like crazy to finish it, me being one of the biggest pains. But she did an absolutely fabulous job from the first word to the last. And yes when you read the last word you will still want more that's just how good she is. There are well moments, oh my gosh moments, that's not possible moments and a bunch of holy moly moments. For anybody that wants to read this book and I strongly suggest you read this book read the whole series it's well worth it.
Peggy Henderson has certainly outdone herself in her finale to the Yellowstone Series novels with the Legends Book. I can think of a number of reasons why `legends' applies to this title. All the characters who are legends in this series play a part in here. If you haven't already read the series, not only are you missing out but you're going to want to read them in order to 'get' most of what's happening since this is the series ending.
Peggy is a writer who doesn't let you know what's coming next, you won't get bored with her books or always see what's coming up around the corner. Legends has you turning pages from page 1 until the last sentence, which is a wow and a LOL.
As all Paggy's fans, I'm looking forward to the upcoming additions that she's going to sneak in on us to add to Yellowstone. I know they won't be full novels, but they'll be awesome!!!
If you haven't read her other books and are looking for a good read, start with Yellowstone Heartsong and you'll be hooked!
Wow, this last story in Ms. Henderson’s Yellowstone Romance series is amazingly wonderful and such an awesome story. It ties everything together in the entire series but in a way that my head is still trying to wrap itself around it all. There is so much going on in this story it’s a good thing Ms. Henderson has written a file you can download to get events and timelines and family lines to help with that. You need to get this book to also get the file. You also have to buy this book if you love this series and get the whole story of everyone and everything in this series that you already love. This is one you should not miss. If you haven’t read this series, start with Yellowstone Heart Song which is book one. I highly recommend this book and the entire series and you will not forget it.
This one in my mind should be way more than five stars, it's that good.
This book is epic and it ties together all the other hero's and heroines from previous books so cleverly done, the author has surpassed all expectations bringing us a love story whilst encountering romance betrayal murder deception all traveling through time with the snake heads we have all become so fascinates with Peggy must have a wonderful imagination and it has been a pleasure to take this journey into future passed and present. The characters have been so well portrayed in every story and this one brings Kendra and Wo'itsa and there journey is so unique they must make sure that events come to pass in the time lines so that the sacred mountain yellowstone in the future will be protected. It's really is an epic book and and a must read I loved it.
Wow! just Wow! Memories of past characters, things forgotten, surprises. Cried when it ended, only because I didn't want this series to end, but it answered questions you might of had from other books. Wow! This book is not a stand alone. You have to read the rest of the series first for this last book to make sense to you, but Wow! I highly recommend this series to anyone that wants to read be taken away on an adventure, excitement, time travel in a believable way and romance. Start with book one, Yellowstone Heart Song, you will love it.
Omg this was such a great book I'm just sorry that this is the last book in the series I love these books. I couldn't put this book down just like all the books in the series. It left me speechless all the way through. You don't know what's going to happen next or who is going to pop up in the book. The ending was a great little twist but was perfect for the story.
I still reckon these books would make great movies.
I can't wait to see what the author has in stall for us next.
Im sad this series has come to an end. Im not ready t say goodbye to these characters, which have come to life through Peggy Henderson. Her writing is amazing. To weave all the Yellowstone books together and wrap it all up is a truly amazing feat. I loved this story of Wo'itsa and Kendra. What a beautiful way to tie everything together and learn how all the characters are intertwined. Thank you Ms. Henderson for sharing your gift of storytelling with all of us.
This is a wonderful series. This last book could have been complicated with the amount of time travel involved, but it wasn't. I marvel at how Henderson integrated so many "insignificant" parts in the original novels into a wonderful conclusion. I would recommend that readers read or re-read all of the novels before reading this last novel. The author tied two plots into one great series. The author's notes at the end were beneficial as well. This is the best series ever!!!
A wonderful ending for the 8 Books in this series, starting out with book 1, Yellowstone Heart Song, my favorite all time book. This 8 th book was everything I would want it to be, tying the characters and their stories together into this last one. Couldn't help but cry along the way, revisiting each one as we journeyed through this last book to the surprising ending and the ending of this series. Awesome novel, Peggy L Henderson! JudyE
Wonderful, wonderful book! How on earth Peggy kept all this straight amazed me! It answers all the pesky questions and makes all the links make sense! Love Elk Runner's place in it all! Now I have to go back and start at the beginning to start all over! Excellent read! Peggy, your readers thank you! Couldn't have been a grander conclusion!
What a neat wrapped-up conclusion to this incredibly creative series. Peggy has all the seemingly loose ends gathered up and woven back into the lovely tapestry that is her Yellowstone Romance series. Now, to go back and re-read them all, in order, with a little insight now.
A wonderful story with lots of twist and turns. I’m sad to know the next book is the last one. I had hoped for more. Lots of characters story was never told. I’m still a little confused about the ending of this story, but I know as it has been throughout this series, there’s always a reason!
I might have got much more out is the book if I had read it rather than listened to it. Seeing the names might have allowed me to keep them separated — hearing them, they were to similar and I was often confused. I just wanted to get to the end rather than truly enjoying the book as I have the rest of the series.
Over the course of 8 books a thrilling tale was created and dwells in the heart of Yellowstone this book completes the circle and ties all the generations together. Very well done.
Very nice ending to a great sires, all questions answered and all full circle. I will miss the Yellowstone family but couldn't have asked for a better ending for all of them.
I loved this book! It covered so much history of past books, but didn't feel repetitive. Peggy Henderson writes amazing historical novels about real places.
Such and amazing end to a fabulous adventure. So many answers! Peggy knew that some of us readers would need help keeping track of the Family Trees so she was kind enough to provide us with the Yellowstone Romance Series Notes.
Without spoilers, this book is a must-read for readers of Yellowstone and related series. What a glorious capstone to a series that I couldn't put down with each story. Written well, it is exemplary for authors of this genre. It comes with my highest recommendation.
