He's desperate. She’s a fraud. Together… they’re a disaster.

To save his siren clan from the ravaging sea serpents, Gabriel must seek the help of a mage to recover the Legacy Stone and heal the oceans. That’s how he finds himself at Kerina’s doorstep, begging for her aid, and grateful when she reluctantly agrees.

Now Gabriel and Kerina must survive the perils of the cursed seas and challenge the demonic Tua and his seven monstrous children for control of the Legacy Stone—a difficult enough task for a lone siren warrior and a powerful mage…

Except, Kerina’s not really a mage. The real mage died weeks before and hadn’t even been cold in her grave when Gabriel arrived desperate for her help. Kerina hadn’t exactly been eager to correct his mistake then, and now her lie of omission could leave the world in danger of complete extinction.

Kerina’s not sure how long she can keep up the ruse, and she’s running out of time to confess.

Fans of Kiera Cass, Neil Gaiman, and Faith Hunter will find this dystopian-fantasy siren adventure intensely addicting.

Jade Kerrion, an award-winning author, got her start in fan fiction. She developed a loyal reader base with her fan fiction series based on the MMORPG Guild Wars. She was accused of keeping her readers up at night, distracting them from work, housework, homework, and (far worse), from actually playing Guild Wars.

And then she wondered why just screw up the time management skills of gamers? Why not aspire to screw everyone else up too? So here she is, writing books that aspire to keep you from doing anything else useful with your time.

She lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her wonderfully supportive husband and her two young sons, Saint and Angel, (no, those aren't their real names, but they are like saints and angels, except when they're not.)

A little mystery, a little romance, and a little holy cr*p how are they going to survive this! Loved the characters both Gabriel and Karina are strong, resourceful and wonderfully flawed. The world is esquisite and the story - the story draws you in and the laundry, dusting, cooking - heck even the husband can just go away until you are finished!

Mage’s Legacy by Rebecca Hamilton and Jade Kerrion is a stand-alone novel in the Cursed Seas Collection. In this book these two amazing authors offer to their readers a dystopian-fantasy world. The world has been broken by a falling star. Nothing is the same anymore. Humans were given the choice at the breaking of the world – submit to magic, become a siren and live in the sea or remain human and live on the land as long as a mage is alive to keep it alive in places. Some stayed human and remained on land while others choose the sea. The world is dying and now it is up to a human who has been an assistant (slave) and a siren clan chief to save their people by recovering a sacred stone and restoring it to its rightful place.
Mage’s Legacy is one of those once you start reading you won’t want to put it down novels. Kerina is shunned by her people and was sold to a mage, but she doesn’t get down and out about her life. She takes it and uses it to learn. Gabriel is a siren clan chief. Life is far from perfect for him, but he pushes forward as best that he can. He does what he must to save his people. It’s fascinating to watch these two characters come together time and time again and help each other survive the trials and ordeals that rise up to face them in their journey. I love how things develop between these two characters. This story is beautifully written and it comes together in such a flawless way you’d never know that two authors worked together to write this amazing story.
There honestly isn’t anything that I don’t like about this story. There are some elements that might not be to some readers liking, but those moments are brief. I personally was not daunted or affected by them negatively. For me, they go to showcase the true inner strength of Kerina as a character.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. When I started reading this book putting it down was one of the hardest things I had to do. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next and whether the characters would be successful. There are twists, turns, surprises, and gut-wrenching moments but this book is definitely a must read. Don’t miss out! Grab this book today!

I have been reading books by Jade Kerrion for ages and have also enjoyed books by Rebecca Hamilton for ages. (I suspect that I’ve read everything Jade Kerrion has published.) Each and every book of either of them that I’ve read has been, well, terrific. There was no way then that I was going to pass up the opportunity to grab on to a book that is co-authored by the two of them. That book, Mage's Legacy (The Cursed Seas Collection), is also, well, terrific. A great plot with a neat twist to the characters and a storyline that leaves you guessing up to the nearly the very last chapter, strong world-building, lots of action, and a cast of characters led by siren Gabriel and (so very much non-mage) human Kerina that is perfectly crafted and superb. Not surprisingly considering the track record here, the writing was also superb. Read the publisher’s blurb. It describes things well enough without spoiling anything (which I’ve also worked to not do). If you find it at all appealing then I can safely predict you’ll really enjoy this book. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. This is actually the second novel in The Cursed Seas Collection that I’ve read. The other was Siren’s Calling by Alyssa Breckinridge and Anna Santos (another author favorite of mine). It had a similarity in plot in that there were sirens and a need to locate the Legacy Stone to save things but otherwise was a totally unique novel in every way. I separately reviewed it, also giving it 5 stars. I know that there are others in this series of related but unrelated standalone novels. If there is a chance that they’re anywhere near as good I will need to give them a try.

He’s desperate, she’s a fraud and together they are a disaster. Gabriel was a siren clan chief who knew that to save his clan and the ocean which was dying he needed to seek out the mage and confront the evil Tua and his seven monstrous children to take back the legacy stone and return it to the sacred place. Kerina was a slave to Anja the old mage who had just passed away when Gabriel turned up on her doorstep. He needed her help and she needed to escape so they travelled together in search of Tua across the ocean. They embark on an amazing adventure and highly improbable romance built on courage and the will to fight to save his people. She feared that when he found out she was not a mage and that she had lied to him his esteem would flounder but instead he saw how courageous she was and willing to fight the fight which was not her own. I just loved this heart stopping adventure novel which was so exhilarating that I had to read it all in one sitting. I love novels about the Mer people and this romance I found particularly alluring because the characters are so lovable with their lack of confidence in themselves but full of confidence in each other. She was ready to give up her life many times to save his and he gave up everything for her giving us a perfect ending to a thrilling tale of the sea.

Gabriel is a siren and as head of his clan he decides to go in search of a mage to health the oscean by recovering the Legacy Stone. Eventually he arrives at Kerina's begging fo rher help which is finally agrees to do so they embark on a dangerous journey across the sea to get the Legacy Stone off the demon Tua and his 7 children. However there is a massive secret that is lying there between his - Kermina isn't a mage and as time passes she is finding it increasingly difficult to confess the truth and correct his assumption

Wow - I absolutely loved this story which had so many dangers that the brave/clever woman and the fearless siren faced. I felt so bad for them both as time passed and the correction of the assumption about her skills became harder and harder to achieve. The dangers faced by them as they faced Tua and his 7 children were all quite difficult and well handled by the intrepid twosome. I loved the way the story ended and the final result and that definitely make the story feel so much better to have such a happy ending. Well written it was a very enjoyable book that I found very hard to put down.

I really enjoyed Kerina and Gabriel’s tale.
Gabriel is strong, determined, protective and kind. The title of Clan Chief has been passed down from father to son for generations. The responsibility for their clan was bestowed upon Gabriel well before his time but he’s determined to do right by his people. The need to ensure their survival leads him to Kerina. Her feisty and compassionate nature has Gabriel questioning if, when it’s all over, he’d be willing to give up his position as Clan Chief in order to be with Kerina.
I liked Kerina a lot. She is persistent, brave and compassionate. She may have lied by omission but she fought for Gabriel and his people until the very end. Finding strength and courage in the love that she has for Gabriel, Kerina selflessly faced down her worst fears in order to make sure their mission was a successful one.
When the truth comes out will Gabriel hold Kerina’s omission against her or let it go?
Will it hinder their mission?
When they started on their journey to save the world they weren’t expecting to find love along the way.
Can love save the day?

I really enjoyed reading about Gabriel and Kerina's quest to save their part of the word. I understand why Kerina would lie to Gabriel about not being the mage especially knowing that her family will just turn around and sell her to someone else if she goes back to them. I think Gabriel is really brave to go alone to save his people and the ocean. When Gabriel made sure that there were warriors to protect his tribe even though having more people would mean a better chance of success just shows to me he wants his people to survive even if it costs him his own life and that is a true leader worth following. This was a really great read and I was hooked from page one. I've actually read another book set in this word and I'm not sure I'm a fan of how different the Siren's are between the books so far.

This is my 1st review for these two authors and it’s such a fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely, and this is Gabriel’s and Kerina’s story. Gabriel is clan chief and a siren he needs a mage to help him recover the Legacy Stone he needs it to save his people and the ocean. He comes across Kerina who he thinks is a mage and she offers her help, as times goes by it’s getting harder and harder for Kerina to admit to Gabriel that she isn’t a mage but she’s determined to help him and his people at any cost. I loved this story there’s so much action, adventure, danger and a touch of romance I couldn’t put it down, a fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

It is hard to write a review when bubbling over with awe, excitement and wonder. It is hard for us to see what is right in front of us sometimes. This tale shows this beautifully. To keep from spoiling anything, I will say that the book is well written. The characters are complex and dynamic. The writing captured my imagination and sucked me in.The world building of Kerina and Gabriel's world was spectacular. There were some choices that were made that I didn't agree with, but that happens often enough and it is part of the discovery of a story. I would read this book again.

I would have called this a YA read until the story took a sharp turn when entering the caves of Tua. There were some things that happen that will disturb some readers, and there is nothing YA about it. 4.5 stars

I received a free copy of this novel from BookSprout in exchange for an honest review.

An exciting adventure that will keep you engrossed and fully 'in' this world.

Well written, with fully fledged characters, especially the strong, brave female, Kerina, although she does have a (rather enormous) secret. There's everything you could hope for from this successful partnership of Rebecca Hamilton and Jade Kerrion in here - sea serpents, mermaids, demons, magic - all things on land and sea... and then some!

Read it for yourself as I really don't want to spoil the story for you in any way.

I chose an eARC which I voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.

This excellent story had an interesting premise - that (aside from humans' influence!) the land and oceans had been dying because of the theft of a magical stone by a demon and his children - and sees the Chief of a Sirens clan team up with the apprentice of a Mage (who he thinks IS the Mage) to try and recover the stone and save the planet. Full of tension, drama, battles, sacrifice and courage, it's a great book that I'd highly recommend to any fans of paranormal stories, though beware it does get a bit gross at times! I'm interested to see where the series goes next.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

The adventure in the book was phenomenal. The hits kept coming for Gabriel and Kerina, yet they were able to overcome them by working together. Even though Kerina wasn’t a mage, with her intelligence, skills that the mage had taught her, and her bravery, she helped to handle the issues that were thrown at them. She was a very brave woman who wanted to do the right thing for both the world and herself. Gabriel was pure honor, discipline and strength. He had one mission: to save the world. Falling in love wasn’t part of it. This was a sweet romance that was not afraid to torture both the hero and heroine.

This was a really interesting magical dystopian adventure story. I really liked the two main characters, the mythos built in, the way our world was seen in the future and how the people (both on land and in the sea) and magic interact. I would highly recommend this book for those that like adventure, sea and islander mythos with a dystopian flare. There was 'romance' but it was not the main theme of the story and I think it blended in well with the overall tale. Highly recommend.

This is the first I've read by either of these authors and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the plot quite interesting and the main characters truly engaging. They were both kind and strong. For the most part their interactions seemed "real" and down to earth. I also really liked the mythical and magical elements; though I had a little trouble reading some of the more graphic parts involved in their fight against evil.
All in all, I thought it was a good, relatively quick, highly entertaining read!

I love books about mythical creatures and this one did not disappoint, we have sea monsters, sirens, maybe mages, demons and plenty of mystery, secrets and twists. I thought Kerina was great with how she took on the role of mage even though she isn't but has the knowledge to some how wing it expertly but still cringed and hoped for the best at times due to her secret. Gabriel is a man err I mean siren on a mission who is strong and determined to do what he needs to in order to save his Clan. You definitely want to get comfy before you start as once you begin you won't want to put it down!

How cute

I can't help but write this review with a couple of gears in my eyes. Although we as readers can figure out what is going to happen within a story, I am always happy to read books that make me feel the emotions of the characters. Gabriel a strong able siren, and Kerina a human on a quest to save the world and to discover one another. I thought the story was cute, and exciting, it took a little time for me to get into it, but once I was U had to find out what happened in the end. So glad I finished their story.

What a spell binding story. This story catches your attention from the first and keeps it too the end. A wonderful read that I could not put down. Warning do not read late at night, I finished at two in the morning, lol. The characters and the descriptions of the characters was fantastic. A very moving and thrilling story. Loved when Gabriel and Kerina meet Tua's seven children. I received an ARC copy and this is my honest review. Would recommend it to all.

Amazing! This story grabbed my attention from the start, and I quickly fell in love with Gabriel and Kerina. The story took me on so many ups and downs, and there were so many times I was like how are they going to get out of this?! I also liked that more often than not Kerina was the one that got them out of the tricky situations. She was a very strong character. I loved that this story is so well written and weaves together the perfect amount of action, tension, and romance.

Beautifully written story, amazing details, beautiful world building and great characters. The storyline was original, creative and entertaining. I definitely recommend this Paranormal adventure with sirens, a mistaken identity, cunning intellect, fights for survival and so much more. These authors had me sucked into the story right away and had me hooked all the way through with the non stop action and adventure.
