Nate Temple #4

Silver Tongue

Rate this book
Fairy Tales are very literal survival guides. Ignore them at your peril…

Nate Temple has gotten away with a lot in recent years: cow-tipping the Minotaur, decimating a gang of weredragons, sucker-punching Angels, and eating pancakes with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He’s kidnapped one of the most powerful wizards on the planet and slaughtered the Brothers Grimm. Lady Luck has been very good to Nate Temple…

Until now.

Nate's good fortune has turned, catching the attention of a recruiter—the kind of person who offers jobs that can’t be refused…

The kind of job that comes with perks like selling your soul to your new employer. That’s when a wizard tastes real fear—when he learns that all the biggest, baddest monsters actually work for the same guy—and they do so against their will.

Silver Tongue…The nightmare everyone both knows, and doesn't know…

Lady Luck better have one more good toss of the dice for Nate, or this will be the last game he ever plays. Unless…he can find a way to cheat the House.

Silver Tongue (The Temple Chronicles #4) by Shayne Silvers is another awesome novel! He just keeps them coming! This one is also kept my heart racing as a "Demon" makes a deal with too many, a book is wanted by unsavory characters that are impossible to kill and they all think Nate has it, Nate's girlfriend's new powers are uncontrollable, and funny and not so funny events unfold that change lives. These books are always filled with humor, even during a horror scene, which makes it even funnier. The fights, action, and dialogue is great, esp. the snarky dialogue that keeps me giggling. Outwitting and out maneuvering the opponents is half the fun in these books. LOVE them!

I am Starting to like the serie more and more now the protagonist learned and keeps learning some hard needed lessons in humility and ownership of consequences along the way. Because he is a arrogant asshole who acts like he's better then everybody else from book 0.5 he slowly gets more layers when life knocks some sense into him each time he f*cks up. By the time we reach book 4 silver tongue his life is totally upside down. He was betrayed by 1 best friend and his poeple ( twice now) he lost his parants company , his pride and joy aka his bookshop is blown up, good friends died, his fiance died ( and came back a freak ) so enough to teach him humbleness well just a bit anyways.

This book is a mistry where multiple factions hunt after the same artifact and nate stumbles through it and comes on top by the skin off his teeth and with the help of his friends and associates and at very high costs. I'm curious to see how he evolves in the next books

Great series

This series keeps getting better and better. Nate is a really good character nicely flawed, funny and a loyal person. I'm really interested to see how his powers progress and I want to find out more about this dark being inside him. I cant wait to read the next book.

A very good book five continuation of the urban fantasy Nate Temple series. There is a big cast of interesting characters from myths. Many have been carried over from the previous books with a few new characters added. The characterization of these mythical characters makes them not just interesting with their unique histories and magical talents but also believable which is on the top of the list of a good story requirements for fantasy reader's.

As in the previous books, the story is fast paced with lots of action and there are many seeming unsolvable problems for Nate to solve using his wits and magic muscle and magical friends, some of whom are having problems with new unique magical skills, Nate included.

At the end of the book I did not hesitate getting the next and most current to date book in the series, Beast Master.

The series keeps you on your toes. When you think you are going right Silvers comes through slaps you in the face and then body slams you left.
It’s truly a good thing

The writing is good. And the book is action-packed. But I have to admit to being somewhat confused about the plot.

After the ravages to his business and his friends done in Grimm Nate Temple has been forced to rebuild his bookstore, Plato’s Cave, to generate some income for himself. And he is back to buying rare books with magical implications for mystery clients. And apparently, he never got over his tendency toward devious dealings regarding these books. Also, the mysterious clients and their competitors for the possession of these books continue to pose a serious threat to Nate and his friends; they are seldom open and above board in their dealings either.

The confusing thing this time is that there appear to be three or four different books in play this time. It isn’t clear until the end which book is causing so much trouble – and I already forgot. But, as I said, there are at least two or three others confusing the issue as well.

Once again there is a host of characters from myth, legend, and fairy-tale tangling with each other. We have most of the characters from the previous books that haven’t already died, and some that have, plus a few new ones, notably the famous Russian witch, Baba Yaga. The main evil genius of this story is a demon called Silver Tongue – only, as so often happens with these things, it turns out he is not who he seems either.

The girls in Nate’s entourage are starting to come into their own. They have always been beautiful and intelligent (even if this last trait was rather glossed over in the early books of the series), but since their encounter with the Grimms in the previous book, they have acquired serious magical powers of their own. Nate’s girlfriend, Indie, and his former business manager, Ashley, who is now engaged to his best friend, the werewolf Gunnar, are still having some trouble controlling their new powers. But one is left with the impression that when they learn what they are doing, they will leave Nate in the dust. And Tory, who has always possessed supernatural strength but was so easily swayed to silliness in the first book of the series, can now stop bullets and other weapons cold and nullify magical attacks from some of the worst in the business. These girls are no longer just eye-candy.

Nate Temple has just faced down and defeated the mighty Grimm Brothers. His family's company was taken out from underneath him, and his fiance died! Luckily she was brought back to life by Death, one of the four horesman of the apocalypse. What could possibly go wrong next? Nate is contacted to find a book for a client. Little does he know the trouble that book will cause in his life! Let's just say more fairy tales come to life, in this book. Making Nate Temple's life a living hell!

Nate Temple is by far one of the best written series I've ever read! The dialog is awesome, with great character development. I love how Shayne brings together so many mythological stories in this series! He has a unique quality to his writing style, that I love. You are always on the edge of your seat, and then feel like you fall off it when a huge twist hits in the story! Silver Tongue is an award winning book in my opinion!

After I read the first book, I fell in love with this series. Nate Temple gets thrown some pretty hard life punches, but he's resilient. His best friend is a werewolf and his fiancée is a Grimm. He is now a Maker and is trying to learn what his new powers can do. Toss in some gods, a Minotaur, and Baba Yaga, and it makes for rip-roaring good fun. The books are well-written, with plots that keep moving and characters that keep your attention. What I particularly like is that even if you haven't read the between books, Mr. Silvers gives just enough background and references that you are able to deduce what you need to know to understand the current book. I'd recommend this book, and the others in the series, to anyone who likes fantasy in the present day and adventure. However, I'd suggest you start with Obsidian Son to set up this world.

I received a copy of this book from the author. I decided voluntarily to review it, and this is my honest review.

What is done to Alucard had to be the funniest prank I've ever heard of being done to a vampire! And that sets the tone of another of Shayne Silvers' successes.

A multitude of monsters, a book and Nate is in it deep again. Indie is causing him grief, his friends are, well, the craziest group of friends one could have, and Nate is once again being overwhelmed by fairy tales and lore such as we never grew up on!

For every character in every fairy tale you've ever read, take a twist and a turn and you'll end up in a Nate Temple story. A little involved, but still a great read.

Love. It can move mountains or humble the powerful, but it can also give a person the strength to face the impossible. Nate Temple learns that all the magic he possesses, all the billions he once had, all his infamy don't help when he's outmatched by legends of old. But maybe where brute force fails, persuasion and negotiations will work. And the first rule of the supernatural world's fight club is: don't talk about fight club

Interesting Books, Annoying main character

For being a powerful "genius" this loud mouthed and callous jackass of a main character sure spend a lot of time not knowing things, uses uninspired "magic, and tugging at his balls which are always trapped in a metaphorical vise. Still and ok book series to read with few better options.

Silver Tongue : (Book 4 Nate Temple Series) : Shayne Silvers.

Read 08th-13th Feb 2020.

Shayne Silvers' Silver Tongue...Simply Sensational, A Supernatural Smorgasbord!!!

The Silver Tongued Devil, Dark Fantasy Author Extraordinare Shayne Silvers Delivers Brilliance In A Book!!!

Nate Temple : A Super Smart, Super Sexy, Super Sneaky, Super Powerful Snark-Filled Shade Slinginging Silver Tongued Prankster & His Lovable Rag Tag Bunch Of Supernatural Freaks Weave Their Magic Worming Their Way Into Your Heart Like Maggots Through Rotted Meat!

Spectacular strategic planning, staging and set up's are executed flawlessly with precision on a multi faceted front on the battlefield, making this series a bigger name dropper than a woman magazine. One of the best series around & not to be missed.

If you like a sexy anti-hero whose far from perfect, doesn't always get it right or wins the fight. Is constantly on the wrong end of a severe beat down, takes the mickey out of everyone, including himself.
Oozes with charm, humor and a witt so sharp its comparable to a razor blade. This Man, This Wizard, This Maker,
not only has the smarts, skills and powers, but he has a big heart too, truly caring for the innocent, the down & out, Freaks & Regulars both, his town, his city & her people.

Shayne Silvers has the uncanny ability to write hit after hit after hit, and Silver Tongue is no exception. Silvers knocks this one right outta the ballpark too!

This author not only cares about his story & characters, but his fans too in a way no other author does!

His motto : Not interacting with readers is the biggest travesty that most authors can make. Let me fix that!

Silvers goes out of his way to be completely & utterly hands on with fans & readers, replying personally, keeping in constant contact via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, emails, newsletters & competions galore, but he goes that one leap further than most authors organising a yearly "Friendsgiving Event".

'Friendsgiving' is a get together in a pre-designated city / state each year, where Silvers' Facebook Group of (7000+ members worldwide) called The Den of Freaks' and Shayne himself attend, plus the other authors under his Argenteno Publishing Company.
It's a week long celebration of all things book related of all 4 of his series.
The 3 Templeverse series, Nate Temple, Fire & Feathers with Callie Penrose, & Phantom Queen Diaries with Quinn MacKenna, co-author with the brilliant Cameron O'Connell, plus there's now a 4th series, with his latest "Shade of Devil Series'.
And with the new addition of the magnificence of Ms Kimbra Swain to this talented stable of Literacy superstars!
The week consists of fun & games, Nerf Gun wars, Paint Ball War competitions, talks, readings, signings, competions, dress up's, BBQ's, dinners & drinks & more, enabling fans up close & personal contact with Shane Silvers & authors and finally getting to meet those they've communicated with on facebook in person. It's more like a giant family reunion than a book signing meet & greet.
I've never known another author to celebrate & thank their fans, in the way this man does, Shayne Silvers is definitely in a class all of his own.

I RATE SILVER TONGUE
5⭐ OUT OF 5 ⭐!

This is the best damn fantasy series
I've read in years & is my new favourite male American author. I bought half this series B4 even reading a single page,
just a few back page synopsis & being part of his Facebook Group Shayne Silvers Den Of Freaks.

I Definitely Recommend This Read
Actually I Say Buy The Whole Series.
It's In Kindle Unlimited Too.

I bought a copy of this book from Amazon and this is my fair, honest and impartial review as always.

Just finished reading “Silver Tongue: A Novel in the Nate Temple Supernatural Thriller Series, The Temple Chronicles, Book Four”, by Shayne Silvers. Brat Wizard Nate Temple is back with his band of freaks, friends and foes, in search of yet another book. We are reintroduced to some of the old gang and introduced to some new characters in this installment of “The Temple Chronicles”. We have one of the world's most loved monsters (The Gruffalo) turned into a not so lovable monsters in Shayne's telling/retelling of this creature. We are also introduced to Baba Yaga a fearsome iron toothed witch from Russian Folklore melding together with Greek Folklore, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Wizards, Huntresses and Hunters and of course there’s Sir Muffle Paws This is quite the journey, and it gets better with each new installment. Get on this ride of words and you will not be disappointed. It’s as if I’m reliving my teen years in this adult version of a well crafted fairytale. Exciting, entertaining and fun from start to finish. Humor, adventure and thrills told in a way that will keep you coming back for more, and there is more coming, so buckle up and get ready. Can you tell I love this series? No really, can you?

A good story .

Silvers writes really well, I’m just not sure if he realises that he’s not writing all of the story down? Or maybe some of his work is lost in editing?

You can go from having a perfectly good time with this series to wondering “ wtf happened there? “

The problem isn’t missing dialogue, it’s missing context. Why would Indie show up as a wolf at Gunnaers estate?

Why are Gunner and Nate going hunting?..

A lot of questions that you think are going to be answered are just lost in the narrative. It’s a big story, with big characters and the temptation to run away with such a crew of people is obviously to easy.

I find myself captivated . I want to know how SILVERS is going to get Temple out of his latest Final date with death...
Shayne has an impressive mind for pitting bad guys against other metaphorical bad guys.
Unfortunately sometimes you have no idea how or why.

The endings of his novels are too small. He wraps things up quickly with little information behind the perpetrators
Emotions throughout the ordeal. It’s infuriating.

Holding my breath

Ladies and gentlemen. In this corner we have Nate Temple, the Maker, the wizard... Aaaaaand in the other corner we have EVERY BLOODY BAD GUY known to mankind. I'm in love. (Batting my eyelashes) I have often found myself scratching my head, thinking, 'whaaaaat'? Then eagerly reading until my eyes are blurry from non-stop staring at my kindle. It's worth the discomfort. Anyway. As the title reads, this is the 4th book in the series and I have to say I'm completely hooked. There are too many characters to dissect right at this moment in time, but something tells me that Shayne will eventually enlighten us with their stories. I'm a betting man -er... woman, so I'm not going to stress over that. Instead, if you are like moe, then you will definitely smile as you sit back and enjoy the next book. Psst... Here's a pack of wet wipes for Nate. He has a tenancy to step in things. 😂

-3 stars, maybe 3.5.

i enjoyed parts of the book very much, i really liked the story and characters. i enjoy the snarky attitude. but occasionally i was doubtful/in disbelief of other parts.
-like for multiple problems he encountered - why didnt he just go ask his parents' spirits for help?
-or when having a discussion thru simultaneous writing in a special book, he got a very important answer but was distracted halfway thru reading this very important answer and never looked back even though the book was still in his hand. and this special book, he just LEFT it out unattended to follow something else. so it was of utmost importance to keep it safe? or wasnt it?
-and sometimes it felt like too much easy magic to fix everything.

"jesus..."
"jesus?"
"no. stop. listen-"
"you forgot collaborate." [vanilla ice reference]

"did you just slap me?"
"you weren't breathing."
"i'm a vampire, nate. i don't have to breathe."
"i know."
"bastard."

Having read every book in the series leading up to this one, including the 0.5 books added in, this one seemed rushed and lacking. It's still a good book and an entertaining series that I remain invested in. I enjoyed the brothers Grimm for the well laid out story. There was so much detail leading up to and during the final event. This one seemed to lack that quality. It starts off with a Monk who seems important but doesn't make much of a reappearance. Maybe in a future book? Suddenly everyone in the squad is now a superhero and if you were a superhero to begin with you are an even greater more powerful superhero. And the vampire glitters (eye roll)... There are a lot of cliche add-ins to this specific book that made me groan.

Still, the series remains intriguing. The overall story being told is enjoyable and most of the characters have depth and are likable. I'm excited to see growth in Indie and hope to see growth in Othello in the near future.

This time out in Nate Temple’s world, it seems like a whole lot of bad-ass people are looking for the same thing, and they think Nate has it. If Nate thinks that his life is going to slow down and give him a breather, I think he’d better rethink those plans.

This is a non-stop action urban fantasy that is smart, roller coaster ride with great characters and witty dialog. Mr. Silvers brings the mix of the supernatural and all the old fairy tales to life within the pages, but don’t be thinking of the Disney versions. I once said in another review, that these would make a perfect TV series or movies – but I’m not sure that they can get it right – but I’d be first to watch if they did. I’m going to hang out in Nate Temple’s world as long as Mr. Silvers keeps writing them. Reviewed by Cyrene

Great read!!

My favorite in the whole series so far! Not as much action as the other books, but I was fine with that because this book felt more like a mystery instead of an intense action book that had your head spinning, with the only coherent thought being, "what the f#$! just happened?" It's almost like this book was Shayne Silvers taking a breath before jumping back into writing again, because the slower pace of the story is noticeable (but in the best way). After this installment, it's clear that there's so much more magic left to be unearthed, but with there being so many characters now in the book, I hope that we get to see more focus on these outside players (Tory, Alucard, Gunnar, Ashley, etc.) Because it would help ground out all of the craziness. We shall see! Excited to continue the series either way.

A fantastic series that should be on your 'must read' pile.

Never ever a dull, nor boring moment when Nate Temple is around, much as he would wish it otherwise, he's definitely a beacon for chaos and this adventure is certainly no exception.

Wonderfully vivid characters, even the supposed mythological ones!

Never lacking in action. It's also rife with wry humour, great camaraderie between the characters and a darn fun read.

More puzzles thrown up, more intrigue and new characters pop up at the most awkward of times for poor old Nate.

A really enjoyable, addictive urban fantasy series that just seems to get better and better with each book!

Don’t get me wrong I am absolutely loving the series BUT the monologues are too long. Half of the book is going over what happened in the last books. If people want to know they can read the other books. Then there is the over and over comments. Gunner is a hunk of a Viking . Also Temple always say he has to look into something. He doesn’t do that till way later if he does. Said he has to help Indie with her powers, well when? So many things he has to find out about. Then there is the constant trashing of his book store. Over and over. Come on stop it already. For me I just skip all of that. I still like how the plot goes, and I can’t wait for more books.

Trite and disjointed. plot line like a sieve with ‘Gunner, leader of a local werewolf pack’ randomly copy/pasted into it every 4-5 pages.

There are likeable side characters but I really just want to give Nate a good kick in the go-nads for being a chauvinistic dislikable dick-bird airhead who for uncertain reasons continuously land with the butter side up. The author must be drunk to think that this is a protagonist anyone could like: and yet too many people seem to not see that he is a totes dick... Reading the authors blurb immun no doubt he fancies himself a bit of a Nate. Yikes.

I want to like this series but man this book sucked.

Love, Love, Love The Temple Chronicles!!!! For Nate Temple life is never dull. Shayne Silvers has done an exceptional job mixing myths and awesome creatures, some that I have never even imagined. I love the sarcastic wit. Each book has been an exciting ride to the next. I hope that Shayne keeps this series going. I would love to live in Nate's world, even with the immense chaos that he is constantly involved in. If you love paranormal creatures and some sharp wit, this series is definitly for you.

Twists, twists and more twists keep you reading this one. While trying to deal with his maker abilities and the not so good off shot of having them Nate also has the mystery of who and how many after after a mysterious book he has been asked to find. I love how Nate has so many diverse friends now and I think Death and Alucard are my faves!
This one kept me glued to the ages and the I just loved the scene with the 4 horseman and silver tongue,

Nate Temple...

These books have had me laughing so hard that my husband looks at me like I'm crazy. He works the night shift, and I try REALLY hard not to wake him up, but it doesn't work out that way when I read books as fun as The Nate Temple series. I have loved myths since I was small, so this series is especially fun for me. Thank you Shayne Silvers for bringing my childhood memories to life.
