Yep, this is better than the series it's spin-off of.

I need to reread this at a later date, because halfway through I accidentally caught a glimpse of the bonus story while flipping to the back - and spent the rest of the volume stewing over how angry I was at the threesome tease.
It turned out to be less terrible once I got all the way there and actually read it in context - mostly Naru just being his flirtatious, intrusive, kind of awful self - but it's a scenario I hate So Much that it soured the reading experience for me a bit.
Prior to that, I was loving this volume a lot. I sobbed through a good part of the beginning and am impressed, still, at how much Minaduki made me love a character who'd been such a villain during his introduction. I understand how Asahi fell for Masato and his prickly, vibrant, deeply loving personality, because I absolutely did the same.
Their dynamic and their scenes together are so good, and I love how they did so much to heal each other and soothe the trauma of their pasts. Masato opened up Asahi's heart and made him feel warm and valued and cared for in a way he clearly hadn't been in his marriage; as much as he blamed himself for everything, it's easy to see that his wife hadn't really loved him as much as he'd needed - and not allowed himself to believe he'd needed.
I loved his slow realization that a house is a home because of the person you're sharing it with, and that he didn't have to keep clinging to the ideas he'd held onto from his broken family and his deadbeat dad. He's still going to build a beautiful home for himself and Masato, and they will love living there together, but the location doesn't really matter. As long as they've got each other, they'll be fine. They'll be happy.
And because of Asahi, Masato is becoming a lot more honest with himself and others, and allowing himself to love as passionately and loyally as he's always wanted. Asahi is the kind of guy he should've met and fallen for from the start - if he had, he would've saved himself so much heartache. But they had to each go through their bad experiences in order to meet and appreciate each other.
With that nice little flashback to their first near-meeting...it wasn't remotely the right time for the two of them, and it's unlikely they would've started any sort of a relationship at that point in their lives. They had to grow up, learn what they did and didn't want out of life, and grow into a place where they could finally find each other.
I wonder if Naru will ever tell them. Knowing him, he'll probably keep it as some sort of sneaky future revelation to suit his own purposes.
Naru is...well, even without the walking in on the two of them having sex, kissing Masato, and playfully offering himself as part of a threesome, I had a lot of issues with him and his choices and his personality in this volume. He's meddlesome and kind of a jerk, honestly...Masato went through so much suffering in this volume because of his past mistakes, but Naru is the same kind of person?? He plays with people and their emotions and relationships too, but he gets away with it because he's Naru, I guess?
At least Naru and Asahi's younger brother aren't a love story in the making - I couldn't tell at first if it was going to head in that direction, but it wouldn't have worked at all, so I'm glad for the cute little reveal at the airport.
At this point, I'm not sure I'm that excited about Naru's spinoff series, which I'd been looking forward to when I first saw art and merch and things for it. According to the notes at the end, he's already in a polyamorous relationship with one woman and two men, so is his spinoff about adding a third guy? How are the rest going to fit in?
It's true that I didn't particularly like Masato during Change World and adore him now, but I'm not sure if the same will be true for Naru. I suppose we'll see, if Sublime licenses his series as well. It'll be interesting, anyway, with those glimpses of his weirdly dramatic backstory.
But I'm still really mad that he kissed Masato.
The other slight negative in this volume was, again, how little Arimura and Ito showed up. They were super cute in the bowling alley - and Masato's reactions there were so good and painful and honest - but they felt like a side thought and almost cardboard cutouts of themselves, just making appearances to push Masato's narrative on a bit.
It wasn't their story, but I miss them, and it's a bummer that they just get shoved off to the side for the next shiny couple. I'll probably feel the same way about Masato and Asahi when it comes to Naru's.
Will definitely reread all five of these volumes; I can't say I'm fully satisfied at this point, because I actually feel like Masato and Asahi got a more substantial happy ending than Arimura and Ito did (even with that family introduction I'd wanted so badly!), but that's more of a flaw with Change World, I guess, than the Love Nest installments.
I am glad for Masato's and Asahi's story, and I appreciate how thoughtful and nuanced and grown up all their issues are. They deserve the best, and I'm glad they're finding that in each other.

Was soll ich sagen, ich bin begeistert von diesem Zweiteiler. Band 2 fand ich sehr emotional, auf schmerzhafte als auch schöne Art und Weise. Der Fokus liegt hier eher mehr auf Masato und Asahi als einzelne Charaktere, aber auch auf den beiden als Paar, als auf ihrer Wohnsituation, wie noch in Band 1 (auch wenn dies trotzdem noch eine Rolle spielt). Dieser Band hielt eine Überraschung bereit mit der ich nicht gerechnet hatte und die der Geschichte noch einmal eine gute Portion Tiefe verliehen hat.
Masato wird mit seiner Vergangenheit konfrontiert und wir sehen, was die Trennung von seinem Ex-Freund aus ihm gemacht hat und welche Konsequenzen dies nicht nur für ihn selbst sondern auch für andere Personen hatte. Auch Asahi, dessen Frau ihn verlassen hat, kämpft (fast unbewusst) noch mit seiner Vergangenheit. Es ist interessant zu sehen, wie grundsätzlich anders die beiden mit einer doch ähnlichen Situation umgehen.
Manchmal schien mir die Verstrickung aller Charaktere untereinander sowie auch Naru als Strippenzieher etwas unwahrscheinlich, letztendlich hat es aber dann doch gut funktioniert und ins große Ganze gepasst.
Ich finde den Manga sehr lesenswert. Man hat hier eine schöne Geschichte, die nicht nur so dahin dümpelt sondern in der tatsächlich etwas passiert und in der am Ende auch eine Entwicklung stattgefunden hat. Pluspunkte gibt es auch für die Charaktäre, die schon in den 30ern sind!
Der Manga gehört in meinen Augen definitiv zu den besten Neuerscheinungen dieses Jahr.

What can I say, I am delighted with this two-volume series. Volume 2 was very emotional, both in a painful and beautiful way. The focus here is more on Masato and Asahi as individuals, and as a couple rather than their living arrangement like in volume 1 (although that plays a part, too, of course). This volume had a surprise in store that I hadn't expected and that added a good amount of depth to the story.
Masato is confronted with his past and we see what the break-up with his ex-boyfriend has done to him and what consequences this has had not only for himself but also for other people. Asahi, whose wife left him, is also still struggling (almost unknowingly) with his past. It is interesting to see how fundamentally different the two deal with a similar situation.
Sometimes the entanglement of all the characters with each other as well as Naru as the puppet master seemed a bit improbable to me, but in the end, it worked well and fit into the big picture.
I find the manga well worth reading. It's a nice story that doesn't just meander along. Stuff is happening, there's development in the end. Also, plus points for characters who are already in their 30s!
In my eyes, the manga is definitely one of the best new releases this year.

Als erstes möchte ich positiv hervorheben, dass dieser Manga mehr Seiten hat, als im Durchschnitt üblich. Das Beste daran ist, dass diese auch vollständig mit Story gefüllt sind. Es gibt einiges an Text und somit auch an Inhalt. Der Erzählstil hat mir ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Aber auch der Zeichenstil ist ein echter Hingucker. Was täte ich dafür, könnte ich auch so schöne Männer zeichnen.
Protagonisten
Masato ist Systemingenieur und 30 Jahre alt. Er trauert einer vergangenen Liebe hinterher und lässt daher zwar nichts anbrennen, aber dennoch niemanden an sich heran. Ein Sinnbild für sein sanftes, verletzliches Wesen. Außerdem ist er ein ausgezeichneter Koch.
Asahi ist 38 Jahre alt, Architekt und zudem Masatos neuer Mitbewohner. Er ist unordentlich und gefühlt durchgehend am rauchen. Sein Charakter wirkt sehr derb und rücksichtslos. Doch er hat mehr so einiges mehr zu bieten.
Fazit
Ich glaube auf keine Juni Veröffentlichung habe ich mich so sehr gefreut, wie auf Love Nest 2. Und ich bin überaus glücklich, dass ich hier nicht enttäuscht wurde.
Man lernt die Charaktere noch besser kennen inklusive Vergangenheit. Und ich bete die beiden echt an. Haha.
In diesen zwei Bänden ist so viel passiert. Mehr als in anderen Manga nach 5 Bänden. Sie ist definitiv in meinen Top 3 der Lieblings-BL, weil sie viele Emotionen transportiert, schöne Momente hat und zudem tolle Protagonisten präsentiert.
Meinerseits eine dicke, fette Empfehlung!

J’étais impatiente de terminer ce titre, car j’ai beaucoup aimé le premier tome et en plus, ma meilleure amie ne m’a dit que du bien de ce titre !
Masato vient tout juste de se rendre compte de ses sentiments pour Asahi et fait ainsi sa déclaration. Le problème, c’est qu’Asahi lui demande du temps pour réfléchir, ce qui n’empêche pas Masato pendant ce temps de tout faire pour le séduire.
Le souci, c’est que son passé va refaire surface. En effet, il va réaliser qu’il connaît le petit frère d’Asahi. Il est une des victimes de l’époque où il aimait briser des couples… Pourra-t-il recommencer de zéro avec Asahi ?
J’avais déjà beaucoup aimé le premier tome, donc je ne suis pas surprise d’apprécier également ce second et dernier tome. Ce que j’ai aimé ici, c’est qu’on a plein de rebondissement, qui rend l’histoire vraiment prenante jusqu’à la fin.
Dans l’ensemble, j’ai trouvé cette saga touchante, bouleversante et pleine de complexité.
En bref, c’est une saga vraiment agréable à lire et touchante. Les personnages sont bien travaillés et en conséquence, je me suis vite attachée à chacun d’eux, même les secondaires !

A Full round circle.
I like this series. I love the growth in characters and redemption in their relationships with others. The drawing is amazing. If you not into seeing graphic sex scenes then this book isn’t for you. I did have issues when Ito ( coworker and Ike BF) and Masato were together because their drawing looks similar. It was hard to tell who is who until I read their line. If Masato or Ito had a pierce ear or nose would have help. Good story of unlikely characters getting together and make it work with the help of good friends and support from them.
I like this series. I love the growth in characters and redemption in their relationships with others. The drawing is amazing. If you not into seeing graphic sex scenes then this book isn’t for you. Hozumi is a character I’ve grown to empathize with. Out of all of them, he feels the most realistic in my opinion. Here’s why.
He’s not good or bad, he is just a human who makes mistakes (terrible choices) and consciously hurts people as collateral damage. We see him confessing he’s envious of Ito and Ikuo’s relationship because their happiness makes him feel bad about his past trauma with a horribly failed relationship of his own. It makes him remind what he believes he could never have, because he’s closed his heart and have buried his feelings deep inside as self defense mechanism.
And more than just telling us how Hozumi is now because of how bad he was played. The author takes times to actually show us how his relationship from 10 years ago still haunts him to this day, in every decision he takes and in every relation he tries to have now. Not closing that circle and just pretending it is not there anymore and that it did not happen is never the solution. Nevertheless, he learns and finally opens again to not only love, but to forgiveness and reconciliation with his past. But he doesn’t have it easy as he deals with the consequences of his acts, that is what feels the more realistic when reading a character that’s been problematic: every action has a reaction. There’s always gonna be consequences, like it or not you can embrace them and move on, or let them sink you even deeper.
Just for that, I give it 5 stars. (And because of the beautiful Asahi)

I think this is the best volume in the Sayonara Game universe. The story is more dynamic, and the character development of Asahi and Masato is really enjoyable to follow.
In the previous volume, the story focused more on Masato, but in this one, Asahi gets a lot more spotlight.
Minaduki-sensei managed to create a very emotional story. I can honestly say that reading this volume felt like being on a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs. Especially when Asahi found the message his father left on the okkake daisentsugi among his father's belongings. That part really broke me; I felt a special connection and it seemed like the message was left for me.
I absolutely love this, and Minaduki-sensei has secured a special place in my heart with Love Nest.

I read the first volume a couple of weeks back and really enjoyed it, so I figured I wouldn't wait too long before continuing this series!
It's a solid continuation, I like the growth in the characters, especially with the little brother showing up. The drama did feel a little over the top for me (by which I mean, the reactions felt out of proportion when looking at what exactly was done wrong in the past), but hey these characters seem to need drama to live lol. Especially the schemer friend :p
The art style is great, though it is sometimes a little hard to distinguish the different characters on busy panels. Obviously not when one has dark hair and the other light, but there are times where the dark haired characters are together and figuring out who's who and who's saying what made me a little confused.
Towards the end, there were some really lovely emotional scenes between our main characters, where they finally started communicating and it was really moving. Those make this volume more enjoyable that the first volume for me.

These two Japanese volumes have been great. We have Masato and Asahi, both working adults. They have been roommates in a friends apartment. The story starts with things being rocky between the two.
Asahi’s brother shows up and he has a past with Masato. After some guilt and backstory, we see Masato move out.
It seems all hope is lost, accept that Asahi is very depressed without Masato. He’s a different person.
All the friends of these two are working to get them back together. Everyone an see they are a good match. Finally Masato figures out that even if he did something to hurt the brother-in-law, he still loves Asahi. Finally, they figure things out.
It’s a straight-forward story. The romance is good and the personalities go well with each other I love when a love story wraps up and things seem so happy.
I also really like the bar owner and the owner of the apartment, Naru. He’s an excellent character. I could see more story about him.

Als erstes möchte ich positiv hervorheben, dass dieser Manga mehr Seiten hat, als im Durchschnitt üblich. Das Beste daran ist, dass diese auch vollständig mit Story gefüllt sind. Es gibt einiges an Text und somit auch an Inhalt. Der Erzählstil hat mir ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Aber auch der Zeichenstil ist ein echter Hingucker. Was täte ich dafür, könnte ich auch so schöne Männer zeichnen.
Protagonisten
Masato ist Systemingenieur und 30 Jahre alt. Er trauert einer vergangenen Liebe hinterher und lässt daher zwar nichts anbrennen, aber dennoch niemanden an sich heran. Ein Sinnbild für sein sanftes, verletzliches Wesen. Außerdem ist er ein ausgezeichneter Koch.
Asahi ist 38 Jahre alt, Architekt und zudem Masatos neuer Mitbewohner. Er ist unordentlich und gefühlt durchgehend am rauchen. Sein Charakter wirkt sehr derb und rücksichtslos. Doch er hat mehr so einiges mehr zu bieten.
Fazit
Ich glaube auf keine Juni Veröffentlichung habe ich mich so sehr gefreut, wie auf Love Nest 2. Und ich bin überaus glücklich, dass ich hier nicht enttäuscht wurde.
Man lernt die Charaktere noch besser kennen inklusive Vergangenheit. Und ich bete die beiden echt an. Haha.
In diesen zwei Bänden ist so viel passiert. Mehr als in anderen Manga nach 5 Bänden. Sie ist definitiv in meinen Top 3 der Lieblings-BL, weil sie viele Emotionen transportiert, schöne Momente hat und zudem tolle Protagonisten präsentiert.
Meinerseits eine dicke, fette Empfehlung!

sob this was so good TT this is my fav series out of all the ones in this world. i just,,,really loved the drama and the main characters here. how their relationship started off and progressed,,,sigh* it’s too good. cant help but root for masato (he’s precious) and masato/asahi are just <3.

For all that Masato and Asahi can't seem to stand each other and their polar opposite habits, perhaps theirs is a rather obvious case of opposites attract. Asahi's ability to understand and put Masato at ease seems to have sealed his fate and made Masato turn on all his charms.... though not sure how charming it is to basically be forced into a relationship, especially as Masato still acknowledges that Asahi is straight and he's trying to change his mind.

Emotional, silly, wholesome, mature—yep, I'd recommend this series for those reasons. There's spice and smut, meatbuns. Everything about the drama and plot is what matters really, especially given character backgrounds, relationship experiences, etc. Some parts can really pull at your heartstrings and feels. I liked this read a lot.

I was a little torn about picking this volume up because I thought the first one was just okay but I'm glad I did. Enjoyed the second volume MUCH more. Now if only I could find the original this spun off from.

A good ending to this two-volume series! I'll admit I didn't really understand what Masato actually did to make Kousei so upset, and Naru's involvement in everything got a bit convoluted at times, but overall I really liked this manga.

Enamoradísima estoy de Masato y Asahi. Son de bonitos...y Naru, uf...todo planeado por él desde el minuto 1. Muy fuerte me ha parecido, pero no puedo odiarlo, es su manera de ver la vida y, total, todo ha salido bien...

I really liked this manga. It had a lot of the same tropes used in Change World, but they were executed way better in this one. The romance was sweet. There was good character growth. I'm happy I decided to keep on with the series.

一開始看的時候其實還有點抗拒，但第一册看到中間之後就完全停不下來了。
分鏡超強，節奏也掌握得很好，感情描寫非常細膩。還有一些沒有直接講明的小細節也超級戳人！很多地方都能感覺到作者是真的很用心在畫這個故事。
另外居然是 ISTP × ENTP 的 CP，真的太香了。ISTP 那種該死的魅力真的沒辦法抗拒。一直一個人默默扛下所有事情，最後再被救贖，而且還是雙向救贖，這種設定真的怎麼看都不會膩。
肉也很好吃，ごちそうさまでした！
