When being different leads to the best years of your life.
After a party goes horribly wrong, Silver Spell Solange wakes up to some surprising news that changes everything she grew up believing. The thread of betrayal runs deep, making her question her very identity. As secrets are unravel left and right, she’s forced to step up and confront the hidden truth her father never wanted her to find out.
But time is short. Silver only has three brief months — her summer vacation — to dig into her family’s past for the information she needs. Because year three at Supernatural Spy School is just around the corner, and it’s going to be life-changing for her and the four loyal shifters who have vowed to stay by her side through thick and thin.
However, not everything is going smoothly within their team's dynamics. Tensions skyrocket when Wolfgang becomes more protective than usual and easy-going Dimitri grows combative. Add in Ryuu's sudden mood swings and Yuriel's random disappearances, and Silver finds herself struggling more than ever to give an equal part of herself to each of them.
With a spy hiding in the shadows, the stakes are raised. Silver and her team must either catch the enemy or watch SSS lose its prestigious glory. For there’s a mysterious organization desperate to claim Silver and her power and it’s doing its best to bring down SSS once and for all.
Year Three is about to be a speed chase as the Dean changes the curriculum entirely and Silver and the guys are thrown into the field — literally — headfirst.
Magic tattoo parlors, sneaky doctors, and floods of lava — Silver and her men will face all this and more as they crank up the heat in spy school.
In 5 words: all about sex, incomplete, frustrating. Don’t be fooled by the blurb, this book has very little main character discord outside of one minor altercation which is almost immediately glossed over by a heavy sex scene. To be honest, this book entirely revolves around the main characters having sex. What happened to Silver learning to be a spy and developing her powers? Instead of getting a true adventure we’re stuck with constant sex and being spoon fed information through pages of Silver’s internal dialogues. As I continued reading I felt a distinct lack of direction from the author as some really interesting plot points (e.g. Daichi’s date or the angels’ book - I’ll say no more as there could be a spoilers) are bought centre stage only to be completely ignored and left unresolved. What is even more concerning is the lack of SSS based content. In the first two books SSS is were we had a chance to fall in love with the characters and really understand the trials they were going through. This book gives us nothing except some token outtakes of their final exam in the last few chapters. Adding to my frustration were the numerous grammatical errors, misspelled words and random symbols littered throughout the text. I was a massive fan of the first two books but this third instalment has me worried about what the author has planned for book four. I really hope she reevaluates her approach and thinks about where she wants the books’ characters (all of them, not just Silver!) to end up.
This series really started off promising but over the last couple of books I just feel like its being reaaaallllyyy drug out. This is one of those series where its like the author has some great ideas at the beginning but didn't really plan it out all the way through and 1/2 way in we get whisked away down some rabbit holes and then have to somehow claw our way back via 4 extra books as the author tries to tie up loose ends and try to weave the story together cohesively. I don't know that is what is actually happening but my imagination runs away with itself when things start happening that weren't even hinted at during the start of the series.
In this book we spend almost the entire book during the "break" barely even getting into "Year Three" at all and only at the last part of the book and only after a couple "12 weeks later" prompts. I see the author is trying to finally explain some things out but honestly I'm at the point now where the explaining should have already happened and now we need to take some freaking action.. outside of the bedroom peoples! We finally get to school and into some "missions" which were, in my opinion, kind of rushed through and didn't at all go into the cleverness and solving like the last schools years did. This was basically same song with a different jig to the last book with a little bit of reveals as to some background that kind of side swiped us with brand new stuff.
All in all I just feel kind of over it. I'm at the point now where I think I might wait on the next 5 books or so then skip forward to the end so I can just see what happens..
Silver and her crew are recovering from the events of book 2. Silver, in particular, is in bad shape and is supposed to avoid using magic, blah, blah, blah. It forces her to remember how her dad died of some mysterious magical disease and she has to face her fears that she might one day be susceptible to it. Of course, Lia points out that perhaps he didn't just get sick and was a target of someone else's agenda which coincides with the idea that someone outside of school has it out for Silver and her crew and continues to make attempts on their lives.
Yeah, I think I'm done. While I get that it is logical to use the summer break as a time to build up the anticipation of the dangers they are going to face during their school year at spy school, it REALLY bothers me that it took three-quarters of the book for them to get to the first day of school. Add in that those challenges were then rushed through and anticlimactic, then drop a cliffhanger on me at the end- I'm done. I'm irritated. Any likeability or good feelings I've developed about the characters themselves have been impacted. I don't think I want to continue the series at this point.
SSS The Supernatural Spy Academy Year Three is the third installment in Avery Song’s gripping series featuring Silver and her four shifter boyfriends. The author keeps elevating each book so that it stands above the rest and this book is no exception. You’re going to need a cold shower or your favorite toy, a box of tissues, and maybe a stress ball. This book is THAT good! Avery Song gives me everything I want with this book and more…though I could do less with bawling. Haha! But the author does not disappoint with this book and I’m eager for the next. Year Three picks up right where the last book left off. One piece of the truth has been revealed in connection to the problems that Silver and the guys have been dealing with, but at least they are getting their butts in gear. They know what is at stake and I love that the author goes further and gives me what I’ve been wanting most – more steamy and more backstory. Silver finally is doing her research and is learning some of the history that surrounds not just the ring, but herself as well. Grab the tissues because the story that Lia reveals is one of true tragedy and if Silver is not careful, it will repeat itself yet again. Where the first couple of books held off on the steamy element until over halfway through, since things have changed the author gives us the steamy with full force. I loved every second of it! I was even a bit green with envy a couple of times. LOL! The only thing that I didn’t like about this book was Wolfgang. I totally get what was going on and why, but good grief did I want to smack the living daylights out of him! So I literally cheered when someone finally steps up and handles him. I get being jealous, I understand wanting to be close to the one you love, but OMG he seriously took it overboard and so he’s a bit of the least favorite for me. Haha! Prepare for another heartbreaking moment in this book. I was crying my eyes out, so just prepare yourself. Also, prepare to be choking on laughter at a certain point in this book. This book is truly a roller coaster ride from start to finish. There is nothing that I would change in this book…even with Wolfgang being the world’s biggest idgit. Don’t sweat Yuriel’s “disappearances” it’s nothing major, I promise. This book is the best in the series so far. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept me page-turning to the end. I loved every second of it and can’t wait for the next. The author met my expectations with this book and then exceeded them. She has truly found her stride with this series and I’m excited to see what happens next. Prepare for an insane cliffhanger, but my mind is already screaming “It’s a Trap!” If you’ve read the series this far and enjoyed it then grab this book! You won’t be disappointed!
By this point I eagerly look forward to each new addition to this series and this was one is just fantastic!! We pick up at the beginning of their the very long break before year three starts. There are investigations, healing, relationship building, and training going on. We learn the answers to some questions while getting more questions at the same time. I still totally love the uni-kitty!! A mind blowing world of magic, shifters, danger, and romance that you won't be able to put down. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
The beginning of the book was fantastic, but the ending was way too rushed with too many plot holes left open or barely touched. This series has been awesome and the beginning of the book was great, but the last 20% was a massive disappointment.
I’m disappointed in this one. I don’t know what went wrong. The best way to describe it is my reading this review by Ispybella: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I felt it lost me half way through and I struggled on. The way these books are written its a little hard sometimes to follow. The stories are generally pretty good but I think I may be done with this series now. I just have no inkling to continue at the moment.
First and foremost, this entire series, and especially this book, could benefit from, an editor and more editing if it already had one. There are many many many many many many typos in this book. From accidental typos, quotation marks in wrong places, randomly added words or randomly missing words, words that don’t fit with the sentence at all and of course the overall confusing cliffhanger plot.
The entire series is supposed to be centered around this Supernatural Spy School aka SSS, but the entire book is using the school as a backdrop prop. It’s nothing more than a vehicle to get us to the end but it’s soooo scatterbrained that it doesn’t make sense. This entire book is titled SSS Year Three, do you know when we actually get to year three in this book? 70% they enter year 3 and we get one chapter of them at the beginning of the “year” going to the headmaster office for a meeting. But that meeting doesn’t even happen on page, and isn’t even discussed in the next chapter since a confrontation took place instead of the meeting. Then after that first chapter of finally being back in school we JUMP another 11 weeks. Holidays have passed, and so has the semester. I spent one entire chapter in the school for the beginning of the year and then bam we are in semester 2. Semester 2 isn’t even long and suddenly they are doing their final trials. Why?
Not only that but prior to all of this Silver is on medication? It’s never explained right away and I guess it’s because she needs to take a medical exam at some fancy hospital. They kept mentioning the meds a lot and that she couldn’t use magic, never explaining why. Then when the exam comes IT HAPPENS OFF PAGE!!! You don’t think the audience would like to read this? I wanted to know what the test meant, and what they were doing and why this test was so important when the end of the book are the results and they are basically like exactly the same at the previous results in how they give information. And the ending was honestly stupid. The entire plot is just weird. I still don’t know exactly what the point of this entire series is if it’s not to discuss the academy and life there.
I got more information about Silver and her abilities, but I still don’t know who is after her and why, what’s going on, why the school is protecting her, and all these random people telling her they know stuff about her but “it’s not time for her to know” yet. What is this stuff? Seriously.
I don’t even know if I am willing to slog through another what 2 books? It was supposed to be a 4 year academy but idk.
The timeline and writing really need to be polished and there definitely needs to be less rehashing about events that happened off page, tell us when they occur, make the scene “live” vs a retelling the next day. I don’t understand why authors do this. I hate it.
I’m not sure if I am going to continue. Maybe I’ll read reviews to find out what the ultimate end to this series is because this stringing me along stuff is annoying. I can get behind cliffhangers when there’s enough breadcrumbs to try to draw conclusions but this series goes against how I’m used to reading books and how information is typically provided. There aren’t enough breadcrumbs to do anything by the end of the book when the cliffhanger happens.
So far this is my least favorite book in the series. I understand that even the strong have bad days but Silver lost about half of her personality. My next issue is more then half if this book occurs prior to year 3 even starting. This book is missing heart.
Year 2 is over. You could say it ended with a bang. One that Silver is still recovering from physically and emotionally. Nikko betrayed her. She nearly died, Wolfgang actually died and if not for magic and one fabulous uni-kitty would have stayed that way. Now she finds herself struggling; wondering if she's smart enough to be a spy, if she's strong enough to protect her mates when they need her, if she's good enough. She has summer break to get stronger, discover important answers about herself, the SSS gene, and her lineage. Thankfully, she has Lia for guidance, a family who loves her, and four men who adore her.
I am disappointed. This book did not live up to the series potential. Three-fourths of this book could be summed up with sleep, doubt, sex until sleep; sleep, doubt, sex until sleep. Where was the academy storyline? Where was the relationship deepening? Yes, I understand Silver has been seriously hurt and must recover. Yes, I understand she has been betrayed by her best friend so there will be natural doubt about her judgment. Yes, I understand that she has found out lots of unexpected things about herself, so she is bound to be overwhelmed at times. But what happened to the sassy, brave witch who won a spot at SSS despite it being against the rules? What happened to the powerful, quick-thinking witch who saved her team and led them on a successful first mission? She is a shadow of her former self and it grew old. At one point she was curled up shaking on the bathroom floor. This is not the Silver I grew to love early on. There were signs at the end that maybe she is going to rally and become the commanding little witch she once was. I certainly hope so. She has such potent magic, has so many shifter abilities, and has so much support; she should be able to take on the world. So much time was spent on the summer recovery that year 3 at the academy was overlooked. There were no classes and the trials were rushed. A disappointment. There was little to no time spent enjoying time with the guys during the summer or at school. It was glossed over as a mention. Only the sex scenes were elaborated on. Where were the fun times, the silly times? The humor of the earlier books was missing. Again, a disappointment. What I did love were the trance meetings with Lia. Very informative. The SSS gene, the prophecy, the family history are all wonderful story aspects. I would like to explore this more and concentrate more on the academy and spy missions in book 4, less on sleeping and self-doubt.
So to start off I am going to say I did get this book at midnight and finished it at 2:55 a.m. now that you understand the kind of obsession this book is created let's get into this review. We find ourselves watching Solange getting her tail beat repeatedly. I mean this year holds no bars on her kitten the ever-loving snot beat out of her and some epic fashions. Again one of her guys gets put in other Peril and your heart stops for her because no one should have to keep reliving their worst nightmares over and over. I will say one thing if she does not kill her ex-best friend in this next book I'm going to be personally mad at this series because that evil little trollop does not deserve to live. Also learned of part of Solange's destiny is to change the world and save it from other stupidity I mean Humanity. If you have not read this series go back to the first book and read up until now, if you are an avid fan you will wait like me for your pre-order to drop at midnight in October and read like a crazy woman. Regardless of who you are this story is fun and interesting and I would absolutely love for all of the pieces to this puzzle to finally start to come together. I cannot wait for the next book!!!
This book has everything you could want or need in a book. A young FMC who is learning her place in the world. A strong group of sexy, and capable men who totally support her and never imply that she can’t do something.
In this book Silver is learning to move past her negative friendships. She now knows that her frenemy Nikko has been working with an outside agency to eliminate Silver and her entire team, whether she takes them down one at a time or as a group Nikko keeps trying and failing spectacularly.....until she doesn’t!
As Silver grows in strength and power, I can see the extra effort she puts forward to make sure all her men know that she loves them individually as well as a group! 🎉🎉
Join Silver and her powerful group of friends and lovers as she learns that even when you are trying to live your best life....someone is always around the next corner waiting to rip it from you!
***Things you will need to survive this book, chocolate...lots and lots of chocolate. A quiet corner, a fan for all the 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 times ! A little wine, or a cold drink, and dare I say it a box of Kleenex to get you through some of the chapters *****
This book definitely shows what an amazing author Avery Song is. she manages to not only give us answers, but allow a way for her to tie for different series that she works on together.
This book does start out a little different as it gives us a Silver that is not quite as strong as she has been in the two previous books. She is reeling from all the events at the end of book 2 and having to deal with major betrayal I'm coming to terms with everything that happened. We learn more about what makes Silver so special oh, we'll still having questions on her past. The introduction of the prophecy, is both intriguing and fascinating, as we're learning that Silver has a more important role in things than ever before and she's not alone. And that cliffhanger ending WOW!
This book did give us a lot of information that began to fill in some of the blanks we had, and while I felt this book rushed the ending slightly I do feel like it gave us a fairly good expansion on this series. I definitely can't wait to be the next book after that cliffhanger and look forward to seeing where this is going to progress with this prophecy.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The ending shock me. I know, I skipped my review to the ending. I just can’t accept it. I hope the guys find out soon and I’m thinking Yumo would do another twist that we least expected.
She made me cry again in this book. You would know why once you’ve read through it. I thought the last time was too much but this takes the icing on the cake. I probably should expect something on the next book.
I love how the guys reassure and comfort her. She really needs their love and support. I’m wondering regarding a scene that she stated was her magic. There’s also about the prophecy. I’m wondering who the other 3 females are and if this is going to be a crossover from her other series or would it be another series after their story in the same world setting.
Please do something about her Yumo. I just can’t accept that tidbit in the ending. It would be too heartbreaking.
I’m looking forward to the next book and hopefully we get to know more. I’d like to know why her ex best friend turned to the dark side and who her backer is. She needs to get her just desserts.
This is definitely one of my favorite series from Yumo! Silver is everything to me. She's strong, but she still doubts herself and I feel like a lot of deal with some form of self doubt even though we're all strong women! Having a relatable character is so important! This book continues on, it's more about the summer leading up to year three as well as year three. Warning! There is a looooot of sexy time! And I loved it! The author was very good about making sure each man had some time Silver, but we also got to have some group time!!! Dimitri is still my favorite, but I love Yuriel, Ryu and Wolfgang as well! Wolfgang has a lot of character development in this book and as a lot more screen time per say. Many changes happen in this chapter of Silver's life, but they were all for the best! We also get to learn a lot more about Silver and her history and who she really is. However, the big cliffhanger at the end totally through me through a loop! Expect some tears!
Another great book in a great series by a great author. I enjoyed the pacing and relationship building. The characters are fun and all have some snark & sass. I am not sure why a few of the reviews were so negative about editing and the pacing. Even the best editors miss things after multiple reread, it wasn't enough to distract me from the book or even take note and highlight it as I do normally when reading.
There are some bits that feel familiar to other series she has written, but nothing that I have read has been so similar it was off putting in any way. I would think that any books written while a trope is popular, especially as popular as RH Supe Academy like at the time this was written, that similarities between the books/series would be quite the norm. I mean look at early Disney & it's a fairytales....poor girl or princess needs saving by a prince due to evil step family, pissed off fairy godmother, or crazy witch. The differences in all Avery/Yumoyori's books, her ability to create these wondrous worlds, amazingly strong characters that push thru all life throws at them is inspiring.
Yikes this series is definitely gearing up with high octane intrigue, betrayal, romance and all around supernatural craziness! Trust No One is definitely sage advice. The book starts with Silver learning life changing news, and it just keeps heating up from there. Nikko the evil is still at large, as is the mysterious forces behind wanting Silver dead. Lia makes a few appearances, and imparts wisdom and a few MAJOR shockers to Silver. To me this book is the most pivotal in the series so far. Through it all our beloved Silver remains true to her heart, and exemplifies strength, courage, justice, and the need to protect the innocent and those she loves. Be prepared for a DOOZY of a cliffhanger making you begging for the next book! Three cheers for Silver, may she forever reign!!!!! This review brought to you by uni-kitties for everyone 😉💖
With year two ending early Silver and her team have an extra long summer to train and learn as much as they can about Lia and the ring. Plus Silver needs extra time to recover from the bomb and testing at a special SSS hospital. So much is going on in this book! Nikko is back, her family hasn't been in contact with her for years really and knew nothing about her plans, plus another school is taking up her defense? The three trials definitely have twists in them and wouldn't you know it Nikko just happens to have her nose in them where it doesn't belong. Silver and her team of boyfriend's will never give up fighting for what's right or each other but Silvers final testing reveals a huge plot twist. Whew what a whirlwind of a book! Amazing though! One of my favorite series and definitely a must read
This Wasn't What I Was Expecting!!😕 (Read using Kindle Unlimited)
I really didn't enjoy Year 3 at the SSS Academy - Probably because they were only there for a few chapters!!😳 Most of the book was spent on the guys trying to bolster her flagging magic & self belief!🙈😔
Where were the chapters explaining what the hell her Dad had hidden from her & her family?? Why weren't they livid? I honestly felt cheated that this wasn't 'discovered & explained' properly through the book!!😢
I was actually kinda disappointed with this entire book. Yes the sexy times were hot🔥 & the Prophecy stuff Lia told her was brilliant but the rest of the book fell really flat for me unfortunately!!😭
Year three is unique in this book as it explores more of the bond between Silver and her men. While yes they are working on their course they're spending more of this book learning what they can about Silvers situation and strengthening their relationships. Theres still plenty of questions wr dont know the answers to and with the opne investigation theres a lot of changes with year three no one is impressed with, but are trying to adapt to. We learn a bit more from Lia about the hybrid status but still not enough for Silver to get the full picture. Cant wait to find out more of what's going to happen in year four after that bombshell ending
This series is really good but this book kind of disappointed me. The beginning was annoying all through the middle part and it was close to the end when they went back to school that the story got back in my good graces cause i was ready to stop reading and put this book and the rest of this series in my dnf pile.
Silver was really annoying. I get it she’s insecure, every girl has a bit of insecurities but goddamn! This girl is a walking definition of insecurities left and right 🙄 And also that she always cries ! Like come on! Realistically a girl never cries that much for everything unless she’s pregnant or on her periods.
Im still putting a 4 star cause the ending got me shook and i cant wait to read the next book but if it wasnt for the ending this book would have gotten a 2-3.
I really like this series. But I feel like with each book, they get heavier in sex and lighter with story. I like the story. I want more of that. Not half a book with sex scenes that were just ok. I felt like all the cool story scenes were given to us in short fast-forwarded bursts. It felt like the author got lazy and couldn’t be bothered to give us the full story, just short clips. And then those clips suddenly end…again. But to make up for it, here’s yet another somewhat boring and immature sex scene. And there were so many typos. This book could’ve been awesome. The characters are super likeable and the story is intriguing. It just needed a lot more story and details added. I hope the next book doesn’t disappoint me as well.
Starting off- I need the next one ASAP! This is now my favorite series from this author. There is one scene in the middle of this book that was steamy AF! That’s all I’ll say about that because I don’t want to give away spoilers. Then there was a completely heart-wrenching scene. Thankfully everything turned out good. That is until the ending! I feel like my face is melting. I seriously need to know what happens next. This series has been one heck of a ride. As a reader of another series by this author, I liked some of the lore and hints regarding that. I can’t wait until I see all the series threaded together.
S.S.S. Year 3 was one rollercoaster ride of emotions. The bonds between Silver and he men become stronger and stronger. The sexy times exponentially increase (yummy), the mystery becomes deeper and deeper with every answer found, and Silver deals with crippling self doubt and trauma. This story had it all. I laughed, I ugly cried, and I was nauseated with anxiety by that cliffhanger of an ending! This series gets better with each installation and I'll be sitting here patiently waiting for Year Four and some stinking answers!
Whilst this was another good book by Wilson I have to take 1/2 a star as the editing was a bit rushed and there are places in the book that upset the flow of the book as you can't help correcting the editing issues as you read it. The other 1/2 a star came off as I would have liked to read more about the three challenges but other then that it was a good book. The ending made me need to read the next book to see how she is going to cope with the bombshell that was dropped at the end and go on to fulfill her prophisised destiny.
