A Caribbean Dozen

This anthology is bursting with the sounds and sights of the region, as a baker's dozen of Caribbean poets joyfully celebrate their colorful world. In brief essays before each poem, they describe childhood memories and the roots from which their works bloom. Robust patterns and collages vibrantly illustrate the poems.

Hi, here is my review of a poem, entitled "Island Man" by Grace Nichlos.
This is an extreamly descriptive piece of writing that can only enhance vocabulary for children within a classroom setting. Nichlos writes about a Caribbean man who wakes up with a sound in his head, one of which was familiar to him. She glides on through the poem talking about the sun rising from the east but then the person in the poem comes back to reality with the noise of London. I like this poem as it can lead to cross curricular lessons and certainly creative writing for the children.
