Kidnappings and brutal killings in Mexico... A border problem that the United States won't fix... A Pope and a president faced with a common enemy...
What if the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church had a secret order of warriors monks who could do his bidding? And what if said order was tasked, by the Pope himself, to find the terrorists who were not only focused on killing Catholic priests, but using them to gain entry into the United States?
The Holy See approaches U.S. President Brandon Zimmer with his dilemma, asking for assistance in the matter. Who else would Zimmer choose to aid the warrior monks other than former Marine, Cal Stokes, and his team at The Jefferson Group?
C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.
One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.
Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.
Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.
His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.
Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.
Papal Justice by C. G. Cooper held my interest throughout. I jumped into the middle of this series as I was intrigued by the description: What if the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church had a secret order of warriors monks who could do his bidding? And what if said order was tasked, by the Pope himself, to find the terrorists who were not only focused on killing Catholic priests, but using them to gain entry into the United States?
The novel quickly introduced me to this concept. Warrior monks! Fantastic! Unfortunately for me the warrior monks were placed in the back seat for most of the remainder of the book. Nonetheless, I became familiar, and instantly liked, the team of the Jefferson Group (undoubtedly the stars of the remainder of the Corp Justice series). While I am not sure warrior monks return in the rest of the books by Cooper, I will likely return to his novels. Fast paced, good characters, an overall great read.
I did enjoy this book but I found it a little hard going. Therefore it took me a while longer to read. I can’t say what it was that made it so, but it was still a great albeit sad read. Would still recommend to all readers and still give thrive this 5 stars as it’s my opinion of hard going. The content was sound.
I just loved "Papal Justice" and was hooked from the opening paragraph. Acapulco is no longer the pristine vacation place since the drug cartels took over. Tourists are long gone and all properties along the ocean are no longer able to survive without the trade. Each Mexican Cartel's "business family" members do what their leader commands without question or remorse - even when kidnapping children and killing priests.
On behalf of the Catholic Pope, Cal and the Jefferson Group head to Mexico to take on the cartel and stop the ruthless killing. What they find upon their arrival is something much more intense - Jihadists have moved into Mexico, and with the help of one of the Cartel families, they are planning an elaborate scheme to kill many American infidels in the United States and become heroes.
There are many new surprises uncovered for readers during the story: a private professional group of ex-military members at the beckon of the Pope and known only to him - a religious Italian reflection similar to the relationship between the Jefferson group and the President of the U.S;, traitors are uncovered in the ranks; the Pope is lured to Mexico and kidnapped; Goucho's uncle is a Cartel Leader who helps TJG; and finally, a loveable character of past Corps Justice books leaves for good.
I've read all but one of the Corps Justice books and feel that "Papal Justice" is one of the more intense and compelling installments...at least within the top two or three. Highly recommended but be prepared for the heartfelt ending. Thank you Mr. Cooper for another sleepless night.

Read 10 of these books my opinion protagonist is not the real hero.
First of all let me say, I enjoyed the characters of this series. Still not enough development or growth. Cal needs to get over his hissy fit and become a real leader. Second thing is that the main protagonist in the series doesn’t seem to be the hero who saves the day, it is usually add junked characters in the book who come to the rescue. Even though Daniel is subordinate character to Cal he would make a much better fit as a leader. As far as this book is concerned, you are using drones and you don’t see a helicopter on the ground or one coming into land. No bullet proof vest or armor for your characters the author is a marine, shame on you. All in all I still enjoyed the series and Will read the rest of the books in the series.
O just have one question...WHY kill off Travis? I understand story lines and keeping the readers engaged and wanting more, but WHY kill off Calvin's last remaining relative? I've read this entire series; this being my second time and it's absolutely riveting (if not a little embellished), but for the life of me, I can't figure this one out. Please answer this question for me. I'll forever be a true fan of your writing, especially this series, but man!!! I could've done without that death. :(

3rd read of C.G. Cooper. Missed the adernaline pumping twist & turn that is Cooper's hallmark. Jihadists are on an attacking spree on Christian Missionaries. Pope and American President Zimmer agree that the situation is dangerous and chalk out a plan. Cal Stokes and Team are onto the mission of capturing the Jihadists. However, the Jihadists kidnap the most worthy person on the earth to fulfill their desired objective. Who is this worthy person? Will Cal & Team be able to rescue the kidnapped person and capture the Jihadists? Read this novel to find out?
'Papal Justice' was incredible. What. A. Ride. And man what a story. So many factors about this book seemed so unbelievable, yet they fit. From the unlikely groups coming together to fight the evil, to the story line that brought the fight to the extremists. The book was well written and well thought out. I just can't get over the ending. I'm still reeling in my emotions. I might have to take a bit before I dive into the next book. A must read though.
A massacre has occurred in a Catholic church in Mexico. The Pope has asked for the American president Zimmer for help. The Pope is aware of the ultra secret covert team of operators he uses. The Pope also has his own to deploy. The Pope also journeys to Mexico. Then he is kidnapped. This is an absolute thriller from the beginning to end. Enjoyed immensely!
Papal justice book 10was simply the next book to read in their order. In my opinion it is the best of the series to this point.
t. I would and (and have) recommended this series and I appreciate that the author does not have to smutty exploits to make what he hopes will get the readers interest. Off to book 11.
Unfortunately, cal sees those close to him that lose their life as his fault and blames himself. He feels as though he should have been the one to pay the price. I hope he comes to term with who he is and the risks taken by fellow warriors as their choice and understanding of life.
Im not happy reading this series. I was not happy when the corpsman was killed but I kept reading the series but now I'm really angry about Travis being killed.i started this series from book #1but lm finished with this story line. I read for pleasure not to get depressed. I will find some other author to follow starting now............blonski148@aol.com
This storyline is different than the others. It’s got a plot that seems incredible but in today’s world with today’s tools it actually seems doable. I won’t spoil the read for you… It’s worth the time to read it. It will take hero’s like TJG to stop the plans of evil men… And, we all need to pray that they can.
G C Cooper out did himself with this Corp Justice Book. I love this series. This one left me broken hearted and in tears. This series really should be mini series. You see loyalty and suspense through out Thank You for writing so well you feel emotion through out the series especially this one. A must read
Cooper’s writing just gets better and better. This plot was believable and kept me awake. You know the story will end with success but I couldn’t foresee the loss on one very good man.
Although I have read quite a few books regarding secret service, this story was gripping and not far fetched. I could relate to how the caracters felt and how they reacted really enjoyed this bbok and wil certainly read more of this author . Good going,,,,
Another good story by a great author. I was only a little disappointed on it’s slow start but when it got going I wanted more and kept reading. Can’t believe Cooper let one of SSI’s die in the end? 5
Cal has lost last member of his family and he is heartbroken but before he last his loved one he did a great service for his country and Catholics Church.
Believable characters with a great story line. Mr. Cooper has a new fan. As a reader of over one hundred books a year I get rather selective about the authors I follow. I've found a new one!
Another exciting, interesting and captivating tale from this fantastic author C. G. Cooper. C. G. Cooper, brings a new meaning to the term, wordsmith, he continues to produce excellent stories, one after another...
The story seemed to be following a predictable thread and theme. Then a twist occurs and leaves you hanging about the future, and about the core morays being professed.
Twists and turns and turns and twists. It just never stopped with this one. Mr. Cooper has done it yet again. Non-stop action from left field. Left me anxious to pick-up the next installment of the series. So far I haven't been disappointed with your stories Sir. Keep up the good work.
I can't believe how good the book was. I was sorry about Trevor, I liked him. I don't know what happened to Ruiz, though! I hope he makes it out ok. Cal needs to snap out of it, that's all I can say! Without Cal there would be no JGP (I think that is how it goes).
Another page turner by CG Cooper! Although I felt like I lost a friend in the last few pages of the book! I wasn't expecting that to happen. Looking forward to the next book to see how the main man bangles the loss.
The Pope is kidnapped and the Jefferson Group must ally with a group of monks two Mexican drug cartels, secret service and a few military personnel to effect a rescue. Action packed and a page turner.
This book was gripping. I couldn't put it down, just wanted to know what was next. I haven't read a C G Cooper boom in a while, but as usual, was not disappointed.
Fast moving and woven with current events. During a successful mission, a sad loss of a main character. Cal is sinking into deep depression. More missions on the horizon.
Really showing his ability to entertain without being so monotonous as to the plot, Coop excelled in this piece. No one is off limits to being removed from the series.
