As a civil lawyer, I spent many, many years writing complex legal briefs for unappreciative bosses. To keep from stabbing myself (or them) in the eye with a fork during all of that, I also started writing down the stories in my head. All on my own time, of course ;) Turns out, I'm a sucker for hot, alpha male shifters and kickass heroines.

Now, I've thrown away my shingle (er - more like burned it in a fire pit) so I can devote my time to bringing you sizzling, erotic, paranormal romance stories. If you like hunky, bad boy shifters, women who know what they want in and out of the bedroom, panty-melting sex scenes, and edge of your seat suspense, I've got you covered! We'll put the rahr in erotic romance (okay, okay, that sounded better in my head).

The premise sounded so good but something just isn't clicking for me. The characters are fine and the overall pacing and writing aren't bad. I'm probably just in a mood that isn't suited for this novel at this particular moment and that's okay! I may get back to this novel in the future!

This story was not good to me.
The interactions and dialogue was very stiff, stilted. It just didn't flow well.

The conflict within the plot wasn't all that interesting either... And the "passionate" pull and intensity between the two main characters??? Was luke warm at best.

A colossal fail in my IMO. Especially if since it's marketed as one of the most passionate love stories.

So I cannot say that I would recommend this one. It was free, and had been sitting on my Kindle for awhile. I finally got around to it. 24 chapters and it was a pretty quick read.

Thoughts: I loved his line - sit up front, I'm not a chauffeur. Things moved along quickly in the beginning from her running from him to her trusting him, but that gave some time for personalities to show through. Then we meet the rich, powerful fiance and find out just how bad things can get. It takes getting furry several times to solve all the problems, and eventually we get enough different colors and patterns of fur in the mix to get the job done. Recommended

This had so much tropey potential!

The blurb lied to me. I thought the story would follow them slowly falling in love while on a long car trip. — no, that’s just the first 3 chapters.

After that, some ridiculous villainous story takes place and it’s so poorly written. I may feel more agitated because it feels like it’s picking up from another story, but Amazon said this was a stand-alone.

I want to give this author another try, but so far she failed to entice me with the two most crucial things:
- development of sexual/romantic tension
- an actual paranormal world

The characters themselves weren’t poorly written. The heroine was actually not irritating, once you get past the first chapter.

For you to feel any sympathy for the heroine in this story, you have to forget about any of the true horrors of this world, like domestic violence, poverty, and corrupt political enforcers. Because her gripe with the world is hardly anything to have a character arc over.

New series❣️

I was sooooo excited when I received a copy of this book in my email, as I’ve been waiting for the Wolfguard Protectors with much anticipation and Kimber did not let me down😍

Val is part of the Wolfguard Security firm when he’s given a job by Payne (whom you should remember from Mammoth Wolves series) to protect and transport Willow to her next destination. Willow’s father is part of the Mafia and has arranged for her to marry a man whom she thought she loved, but as she gets closer to the wedding date she starts to become more anxious. Now her time is up and she decides it’s time to run. However, Val catches up to her before this can happen and they start their cross country road trip!

Danger lurks, which neither Willow and Val are aware of until the last minute, together with realising what they are to each other. Amazing story of two people coming together against all odds😍 Thank you to Kimber for my advanced copy for which I leave my honest review and eagerly await Leo’s story next💕

This is an entertaining shifter romance & it certainly caught my attention. The characters are interesting with a variety of traits and different sides to their personality & are quite realistic with their emotions feelings & expectations. I found the story-line and plot fascinating with some unexpected events.
There is: a very unhappy with his assignment Wolfguard protector (Val), a young socialite with severe doubts (Willow), wolf shifters, various kinds of shifters, humans, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, deceit, threats, danger, enemies, violence, conflict, devious plans, blackmail, confrontations, mates, love, happiness, some steam & a satisfying happy ending.

Disjointed

The narrative is quite disjointed and the characters are not engaging. The leads jumps in theirs responses it feels like they’re different characters, none of their responses feel authentic so it is impossible to engage. The suspension of disbelief in reading fiction requires a complex, sustained world where characters grow in a way that is consistent. This does not have any of that.

The couple: Val and Willow

Romance genre: shifter
Part of a series: yes (Wolfguard Protectors)
Length: 266 pages

Plot: Willow is the daughter of a mobster, and is engaged to a man from a powerful family. But she's suffocating. She wants, more than anything, just a moment to breathe, but her fiance has sent a security company to bring her home. It's time for their wedding, and there's talk that she might be in danger from her father's enemies. Val is the guy who is supposed to pick her up. When she sees him, she tries to run away, and she almost makes it, but he convinces her that she needs to at least go back and talk to her fiance, Jason. But there's a lot more going on here. Val is a shifter, and when he gets Willow back to Jason, he realizes that Jason is also a shifter, and has something shady going on. It takes a while, but Val and Willow rescue each other (nice touch), and get away. But what, exactly, is Jason part of, because there is something much bigger going on than just him wanting Willow as a mate.

Character development: Willow is seen by everyone as a spoiled princess, but there's no reason for that. She has done everything possible to try and make it on her on, but nobody will let her, and the stereotyping is so demoralizing to her. Val needs something meaningful in his life outside of shifter politics, and he thinks that his security work is that something special, but that's before he meets Willow. When he realizes she's his mate, all the strange feelings he's having about her make sense, and nothing else matters. He's willing to shut out everyone and do whatever is necessary to keep Willow safe. In return, she doesn't even bat an eye when he reveals his shfiter status. These two are perfect for each other - they saw the true person behind the reputation and stereotypes and facades.

Would I read more from this author/in this series: yes
Next book in the series: Echo of Magic

Shift of Fate is the first book in the Wolfguard Protectors series by Kimber White and the first I've read by this author. The synopsis drew me to this story about a bodyguard finding his mate on assignment. The story starts well but quickly falls apart. The writing style is a bit confusing to read the lack of suspense is disappointing. The characters could be better defined, and the story better detailed.

Twenty-three-year-old Willow Rousseau is the object of desire for two alpha wolves. One good wolf and one not so good. Willow is everything both seek in a mate, but she is only fated to one of them. One, Jason Soren, has power and connections and can give her the world. The other, Thirty-five-year-old Valentin Kalenkov, will love her and protect her. Willow essentially has no choice in marrying Jason as Jason has already "paid" for her. Thanks to Willow's father and his poor business sense, Willow is forced to marry Jason to keep him out of jail and in him and his wife Lisette's customary lifestyle.

Val is tasked with driving Willow from her New York apartment to Jason's home in Virginia. Val is necessary because Willow is a flight risk, aka runaway bride to be. Val realizes too late that he should have never agreed to take Willow to Virginia because of the danger awaiting her. Val also realizes that Willow is his mate and what Jason Soren is.

Though Willow is twelve years younger than Val and opposites attract, Willow seems younger. Willow's written like a sheltered teenager instead of a grown woman, making it difficult for me to believe a thirty-five-year-old man has anything in common and vice versa. I see a pattern for the series, and it is not interesting enough for me to continue with more of the same "protect the young woman and keep her safe" and realizing said woman is their mate. The names will change, but the story will remain the same.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

It is amazing how the author draws so many stories from the original book. Each series is wonderful and I can't put it down until I finish.

Val was not pleased with his new assignment. He was expecting a promotion--not to babysit a little socialite on her way to her fiance. When he met Willow he knew he was in trouble. She'd try to run. He knew it. She'd be a pain but there was something else. Something powerful. When she let him into her fear he knew he couldn't just deliver her and leave.

Willow didn't want to go. She didn't want to get married and she didn't want to leave her home. At first, Val was just like all the rest who kept her hostage or at least that's what it felt like. As time went by he didn't act like the others and she began to wonder if she could trust him.

Both Willow and Val were right. Things were not as they should be. Neither knew why just yet. But he wasn't leaving until he did. He had learned one thing about her and he didn't know how he would deal with it but he wasn't leaving her with this man who was not a man.

There is trouble to fight. Rare weapons. Magic--dangerous magic. Could he save her? Who could he trust?

Once again we have characters of strength and character. Loyal friends, family, and co-workers, and let's not forget the steam. The ending will...well, I'll let you read that for your self.

2,5 stars. Intriguing premise and good initial chemistry marred by problematic language
This was a fast read with some great elements. For one, I'd love to learn more about the shifters' world, it seems like it's a good setup for many stories to come. And the alternating first person POV between the male and the female protagonist was quite good too.
But I have to say: I found some expressions problematic when the male spoke/thought/described her body. I don't want to say these expressions were sexist...let's just call them objectifying in a rather tasteless way.
And then, the use of language in general: using short and snappy sentences every now and then to show immediacy and urgency and lust and danger and all these things, is great. But doing so throughout the whole book? Kinda makes the book a bit immature.
Still, it was a fast-paced read and what I needed at the moment, so no complains here.

Very fast but seemed to piece togther just fine. Willow is tired of trying to keep up with the demand of her father and Jason in the public eye. Willow and Jason don't have contact with each other much besides over the phone so the relationship has drifted alot and Willow isn't sure she wants to marrie him anymore. Valentin aka Val is her escort and bodygaurd to get her there, but Jason doesn't realize is has just set Willow up with her mate. Val realizes when he goes to drop Willow off that he needs to go toe to toe with another Alpha in order to keep Willow safe and unharmed. Val does not have a pack of his own so he literally walks into this alone. There was the right amount of excitement just not the right amount of time to create feelings to develope the right way. Val ended up loving her without even knowing her.. I know that is how it goes with most shifter books but this felt really rushed.

Magical Love!

I love everything Kimber White has written! And Shift of Fate ,book 1 in Wolfguard Protectors series, is pure magic,as I have come to expect, in a Kimber White novel. Ms. White has written many wolf shifter and fated mate novels. Yet, in Shift of Fate, she adds a possible Tyrannous Alpha villain and a conspiracy no one knows about. The originality of this plot made it impossible for me to put the book down. I started it at 7 pm.tonight and finished it 5 hours later. Time flies when you are that absorbed.
Kimber White is skilled at developing complex characters that appear to jump off the pages of her books, and into your home. If you are a fan of Kimber, you know, her characters, make you believe, Dragon Shifters, bear shifters, and wolf shifters really exist! And while reading , Shift of Fate, you know that happily ever after, happens, more often then we thought!
I will be reading the rest of this series soon!

The book just doesn't call to me like your other books. It is not that the book is bad I just couldn't connect to the main character Val and I'm still not sure about Willow. . The story is really good but sometimes a reader just isn't feeling a real love.

If you are a fan of Kimber White's work don't let my review stop you from picking up this book cuz you can't go wrong reading it.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book because I am a avid reader of this author's work and I do so without obligation to the author.

Shift of Fate by Kimber White is part of her Wolfguard Protectors series. This series has some of her past characters from the Wolves of Mammoth Forrest Wolves series. This series is set around the shifters that make up the Wolfguard protection agency lead by Payne Fallon. Val is an alpha wolf and part of the team working for Payne. He's hired to protect Willow. Their story is full of mystery, emotion and betrayal. The characters in this series are sure to please and so is the storyline. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.

Shifter bodyguards...!

Wolfguard protectors are a bodyguard agency and this book is about a wolf shifter meeting and protecting his fated mate against another that wants her. It was written in the first person...the female/ male leads. It was an ok book but everything seemed rushed. Even the sex scenes were quick, so much so, that I didn't feel much of a connection between the characters. The storyline had promise though, and although this was a full book the story continues through other couples in future books.2 1/2🌟🌟

Hot shifter story to escape with.

This was a well written new shifter series. It had all the elements we love in a good shifter romance. Danger, hot protective Alphas, and just the right amount of steamy sex but not overwelming the storyline. The story had a unique plot and setting, but with the traditional good wolf vs bad wolf fighting over a fated mate. A nice little escape into the wolfy side. If you love shifter stories, this is well written, give it a try. Can be read alone, but you probably will want more and continue the series.

Shift of Fate

Val is a shifter working for an agency hired to bring Willow to her fiancé who is also a shifter, and she has no clue. This story is a web of tangles that they’re thrown into but the moment they meet they both know and have feelings that something more is about to happen, especially between them. There’s greater forces out there they know that they’re gonna have to fight but they know they’ll do it together

Part of a series that can be read as stand alone. Didn’t feel like you were missing that much from a character POV. There is an overarching mystery that will be solved in subsequent books.

Val is hired to make sure that Willow makes it to her fiancées house. Willow is tired of doing what everyone tells her to do and she has her doubts about her fiancée. Needless to say, Val,is her fated mate and her fiancée is an evil dude.

I downloaded Shift of Fate: A Wolfguard Novel as a free ebook from Amazon. This book started out strong, but about mid-way, it started tumbling over its own tropes. There is some really snarky-witty dialogue, but I would love to have seen some stronger relationship development. My 3.5 rating is rounded up as I think the characters may resonate more with other readers, they just didn't have the complexity I prefer.

*WARNING* intended for mature audiences
I enjoyed this book, but won't be reading the rest of the series because they are NOT in kindle unlimited at this time. This is a new author to me and this book was "Buy It Now for Free" from Amazon. This book has the HEA, but leaves unanswered questions for the series to continue. Some of these characters were great, others were VERY bad, but it needs to be that way.

A great start to a new shifter series. Shift of Fate is a fresh take on shifter wolves. Exciting, dangerous and filled with passion! I loved the addition of non pack alpha shifters! Gives a new dimension to our sexy beasts. New mates and new locations; I cannot wait until the next book! So excited!

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Val

Protect the client, falling for her was not an option, until the mating bond jerks them hard. Chaos has them on the run from a fiance from hell who has a pack backing him. Val has his family of coworkers to get them safely away. Love makes a powerful resource. Strong Alpha protector.

Pretty standard fated mates stuff, not bad writing, I felt like I wanted a bit more from the storyline though. Also seemed strange when there were wolves howling in a city and no one comes to see what is happening.
Another one that if the series was in Kindle Unlimited I might read more, but wouldn't actually buy it.

Quick start to a all Shifter Protection Agency

He gets an easy assignment. Pick up and deliver a Bride to be to her finance. Just one tiny problem, She is not sure she wants to get married. After a little delay he convinces her to go and he would protect her, regardless of who or what would harm her. Let the fun begin. Read and enjoy to see what happens.

Refreshing

Really good writing and an interesting story line makes for one great day of reading. I think this series will be a winner because it has enough mystery to keep me guessing and enough loving to
Keep it steamy but not trashy. I love a good paranormal on a rainy day. Happy reading and stay safe.
