Jace Applewhite is home for the holidays, helping out on his family's Christmas tree farm and enjoying some much needed downtime between semesters of grad school. He's intrigued by the sexy and serious barista from The Daily Grind, but she's got a Hand's Off vibe that can be seen from miles away.
Tara Honeycutt missed most of her college years being single parent to her two younger half siblings. Working multiple jobs, she's forgotten what it's like to be a normal twenty-something. All her focus is on giving the kids some new holiday memories.
When a major gas line breaks, leaving them with no heat, no hot water, and no way to cook for Christmas, Jace invites Tara and her sibs out to Applewhite Farms. Will a good old fashioned farmhouse Christmas be enough to get Tara to give him a second glance?

This is what is called ‘stuffing’ -padding out a book to extend the page count. I thought that was banned by Amazon, unless the 'bonus content' amounted to less than 10%.
The story itself was sweet, but at 86 pages long barely a novella and the idea could have been developed into a really lovely story.
FYI - The Wishful series has been bundled into economical box sets and this book (ebook & audio) is included in Volume 3.
This is a cute novella adding to the Wishful world. It’s set during the Christmas season and runs somewhat concurrently with Be Careful With My Heart & Just for This Moment (books 3 & 4). There aren’t really any spoilers to other books – but as there are a lot of folks to keep track of in Wishful, it’s helpful to listen to the series in order.
Tara has been a small secondary character up until now and it was so sweet to listen to Jace woo her. Tara has been so busy adjusting to role of mom to her much younger siblings that’s she’s basically in survival mode. I appreciate that when Nolan includes children, she makes them an integral part of the story in a realistic way. Jace not only falls in love with Tara, but with Austin and Ginny as well. The whole Applewhite family envelopes the Honeycutts and makes this listen sugarplum sweet.
As a novella covering a short time period, this ends more as an HFN – but I’m sure we’ll hear more about Jace & Tara as the series goes on.
Amy McFadden rocks this again. She continues to give all the folks of Wishful unique voices and mannerisms. I also couldn’t help but adore Ginny’s voice and enthusiasm. So cute! I continue to enjoy this writer/narrator team.
Note: I’ve tagged this as “New Adult” and Tara *is* only 21 but she has major responsibilities, so this doesn’t have the typical NA/College age feel to it. It’s simply to remind me the MCs are younger. In regards to the “Closed Door” tag, there’s actually no sex scenes at all, nothing more than a kiss between the MCs.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for kait nolans dance me a dream. very cute story. tara, a dancer who is chooses to leave school to take care of her half-siblings is doing her best for her 11yr old and 5 yr old siblings. jace is home for the holidays and is immediately smitteb with the cute blonde barista. jace wants to get to know tara and she is hesitant but jace worms his way onto her heart along with the kids. a mishap that leaves them without heat makes it easy for jace and his family to move tara and the kids into their Farm for xmas. secrets are revealed, dreams can come true and smiles all around make up a heartfelt story.
In Dance Me a Dream, we follow Jace and Tara. He’s a graduate student, and she’s had to give up her dream career as a ballerina to take custody of her two younger siblings when their father is sent to prison. When she and Jace meet, the question is whether they can come together to create a perfect Christmas, and more. It’s a wonderful, sweet and hot Christmas tale.
Jace is taken with Tara from the first moment he sees her. He then needs to convince her that he’s serious and not put off by her younger half-siblings of whom she holds custody. When the heat goes out at Tara’s, she and the children are welcomed by Jace’s family to share their Christmas celebrations. Can they convince Tara that Jace is serious and that the children aren’t a bother? And what about her dancing career? Is it over for good?
Read this delightful Christmas tale and enjoy the situation as these two work their way through this dream. It’s a wonderful holiday tale.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review express my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
Dance Me A Dream is the 7th in the Wishful series, and it was a well written and sweet romance novella with good character development set on a lovely tree farm just outside Wishful at Christmas time. There is no sex in this particular story, just sweet handholding, kisses, and Christmas, family fun. I loved getting to know Tara and her siblings better, and I was so glad Jace insisted on being her friend and would have stayed as one if she hadn't eventually allowed him a date, which happened to involve, in part, seeing the last night of White Christmas at the community theater, the rehearsals and opening night of which happened during the third book. So many couples came together at around the same time in Wishful that it's almost funny. Anyway, this is definitely one of my favorite stories in this series, and I'm so happy that I discovered Kait Nolan and her wonderful series of books.
Wishful #7 Cute and sweet little Christmas romance set in the small town of Wishful, Mississippi. Tara Honeycutt left behind her dance major at SMU and her dreams of being a ballerina to move to Wishful and take custody of her young half siblings Ginny and Austin. She meets Jace Applewhite when he’s home in Wishful from grad school and he’s taken with her. She’s resistant to romance as she’s now focused on raising two kids. But Jace is so kind and caring, and is so sweet to Tara and her siblings. His family has the Applewhite tree farm which is the perfect Christmas setting, and he and his family go overboard to help Tara and the kids have a great Christmas. The audio on this book was overly cheesy and almost had me stopping early on. But the ebook was better to help me appreciate this sweet story. Still cheesy, but full of heart and Christmas magic. I’m a former dancer and an SMU grad, so as the story moved on I was more invested with these connections. And little Ginny’s name is spelled like mine - so bonus points for that.
I received an ARC of this book from Kait Nolan and have chosen to review it. I really enjoyed this story I got to see what happened to a character that I previously had wondered about in another of the Wishful series books. In this book you get to see the struggles that Tara has faced and you get a better understanding of what has happened in her life and it just tugged at my heartstrings for all the tough situations that she had to go through to get to where she is at. This book is a really easy read and it something that you can finish in one setting if you have the time to spare. I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to read more of the Wishful series.
Dance Me A Dream is a very lighthearted story, a Christmas romance situated in a small town. It follows Tara as she steps up to be a mom to her two younger step siblings when Jace comes along and falls in love with her and her siblings. Though this book is not my favorite, there’s nothing bad with it. The plot is on point. Basically it’s just Jace trying to woo Tara and Tara trying to ignore Jace as she believes she doesn’t need to have a boyfriend while her hands are full trying to be a single mom to her siblings. What Jace did at the end is really sweet though and I think that will be the turning point of Tara’s life.
It’s good to get back to Wishful, that small southern town that’s so similar to every other small town in America, only not quite. Anyone who grew up in small-town America will relate to this series. They’ll totally understand all the undercurrents that run through the town and how utterly frustrating, but endearing, the people are.
This is a quick and sweet novella about Jace and Tara. Tara gave up her dreams at nineteen to raise her step-siblings. Jace is the all-around good guy that is home for the holidays to help out at the family farm. Again, it’s sweet, it’s quick, it’s Wishful!
I read this lovely novella in one sitting, played the old "awww, just one more chapter!" game until 1 a.m. :) I met Tara first in Riley and Liam's book, and I was curious about her own story. Let's just say that Jace and the Applewhite clan are perfect to bring balance Tara's less than easy life. I was delighted with how the story turned out for everyone, including Ginny and Austin. Beside the romance, this story packs a huge dose of Holiday spirit, no matter what time of year you read it. <3
Tara has taken over raising her half brother and sister. Jace is studying at Grad School. This is Wishful, so it is perfectly logical that the two would meet and fall in love. Lots of romance, mistletoe and two adorable kids in this sweet book. No steam, it is not needed. In fact, the steam wouldn't have fit with this feel good book. This is like date night in book form.
And in the end, it made me cry, and that, ladies and gentlemen is the sign of a good book. Thank you for another one Kait Nolan.
This novella is an sweet love story with a side of Christmas wishes that ends in a HFN with a hint of HEA. Tara is a barista and yoga instructor in Wishful having dropped out of college to become the guardian of her step siblings. Jace is home from graduate school and staying at his family’s Christmas tree farm in Wishful. While short, the characters were fairly well developed and the story was well written evoking all the feels.
I've read all the previous books in this series and was wanting to hear more of Tara's story. This young lady put her life and dreams on hold for others and she really does deserve a break and some happiness........in the form of hunky Jace and his family. This is just such a sweet, lovely story and a wonderful addition to the series.
Was a very good holiday book for me,both the character were believable My favorite line.my sister is the punk a kid, that was my favorite line from jace A very warm and toasting book.kait book's leaves you with a nice feeling of overcoming the hard challenges that life throw at you,no downer book here.
Really cute story. I liked Jace and Tara. She gave up a lot for he half brother and sister, Austin and Ginny, without a second thought. His was a wonderfully Christmasy family. I enjoyed every word of it.
As for the narration: I absolutely love Amy McFadden. She reads with such emotion and her voices, men and women, are awesome.
I listened to this on Audio book. It was a really sweet story with Tara raising her two siblings on her own. Jase is the local tree farmer who instantly gets captivated by Tara and her brother and sister. I wish I had listened to this over Christmas as it’s really a run up to Christmas story. Still I enjoyed this.
Tara has had to take care of her two younger brothers since she was 19, so her dreams have had to take a backseat as well as trying to lead a normal life for a girl her age. Until Jace. Jace opens the doors of his house to her when she has to leave hers due to a gas leak and you can imagine the rest. It hasn't particularly caught my attention.
This is the first story in the Christmas in Wishful book. Tara took guardianship of her younger half brother and sister before she was twenty. She quit college and gave up her dream of becoming a ballet dancer, to give them a stable home. This Christmas, she meets Jace, who is smitten with her. With his family they have a wonderful Christmas and begin a new relationship.
He’s a grad student home for the holidays, working on the family tree farm. She’s raising her two younger siblings, he sees her while ordering coffee. He figures a way into her heart.
I enjoyed this novella. Loved how Tara gave up her dreams to take care of her siblings. Loved how quickly Jace fell for her. He’s so good for her and her siblings. Had some happy tears at his Christmas gift. I recommend this book.
Jace and Tara's story. This is a sweet, clean romance. I liked the storyline with Tara giving up her dream to care for her two younger siblings, and Jace who gives it back to her.
I totally fell in love with this story so much so I am off to get the rest of the series.
I found it to be sweet and endearing without being sappy. New author for me but I know that I am well on my way to becoming acquainted with the rest of her work.
kait Nolan is a great author who spins an amazing tale. The characters she writes about in her books just spring to life right out of the pages. She is truly gifted and I am enjoying everything I have read that she has written.
Chances at a dream. Tara left college to take care of her half siblings without some regret, but she knew they needed her. Now doing their second Christmas, she makes two wishes, to give them a good Christmas and to feel like a normal girl. Have helps with both.
Hallmark style, G-rated, New Adult, "happy for now," Christmas, romance novella. If you like Hallmark, you will like this story. If you aren't a fan of Hallmark schmaltz, you might want to pass this one by.
