“I’m not sure that happiness is in the cards for me.”
Alpha Jett King has been divorced for years after his one-night-stand-turned-shotgun-wedding went down the tubes. As Devon, OH’s most sought-after builder, he’s finally got the chance to reconnect with his adult son Brayden and show him the ropes of the family business.
"I like to follow my gut - it’s never steered me wrong."
Korbin Bishop is eager to prove himself… and taking on the task of handling any clinic emergencies while the animal hospital is shut down over Christmas seems like a brilliant way to show off his can-do attitude. Korbin’s eager to show off for the hot builder, too - before he realizes that Jett is his good friend’s father.
Welcome to Sunnydale Vets, where love is the best medicine, and all it takes to fix your problems is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. This heartwarming book features mentions of mpreg, some holiday tinsel, an age gap attraction, and the perfect Christmas gift - the love in their hearts. This book and every other book in the Sunnydale Vets Series can be ready in any order.
This one was an age gap romance and it was a really sweet and adorable read. Jet doesn't expect to find love at his age, let alone with someone half his age but from the moment he first sets his eyes on the young omega, he knows hes in trouble.Korbin is a young vet who doesn't expect to meet a handsome alpha while picking up drain cleaner and finds himself unable to get the alpha out of his head.Of course theres always a little bit of drama and obstacles the characters have to go through in order to make their relationship work. In this case, it was more than just the age gap that could keep these two apart when jet finally realizes the omega he's falling for is his son's bestfriend.. I really enjoyed this whole series so far and this ones probably my favorite so far because I really enjoyed the characters and became immediately invested in their story and ended up staying up late to finish it.
very good story.. interesting and made me happy.. it was so much fun to read and i enjoyed it a lot. this series is a lot of fun to read and it makes me smile.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the seventh book in the Sunnydale Vets series. In this book, Korbin is the youngest vet and is asked by Sunny and Dale to be on call over the holidays so the other vets can spend time with their young families. The vet office will be closed so the new large animal addition can be built and it should only be emergencies, so Korbin agrees. Korbin finds a dog tied outside the vet office and takes him home, and when he needs drain cleaner to unclog his drains after giving the dog a bath, he heads to the local grocery store. Jett is the owner of his own construction company and when he head to get some groceries, he sees Korbin and offers him some advice about the drain. Jett is an older alpha and a divorced father of a grown son, Brayden. Brayden is moving to Devon to work with his father after he quit law school. Brayden hasn't told anyone why he is coming to town, but he hopes to catch up with his friend Korbin. When Korbin learns Brayden's father's company is working on the vet office, he tells Brayden about the alpha he met and how he works with his father. jett and Korbin flirt with one another and when Jett asks Korbin to dinner, he agrees. They start seeing each other, but they don't know Brayden is Jett's son. Korbin and Jett grow closer and things are going well until Brayden finds out. I loved this story. I loved the older man/ younger man romance between Jett and Korbin. I think they had an amazing connection and great chemistry. Brayden needed to make peace with why he came to Devon and when he explained everything it made him feel better. I loved the friendship between Brayden and Korbin also, it was great that they could still be close after being apart for so long. Another great one in this series.
What a great 7th book in a wonderful series. I loved it! No cliffhanger, no angst, just an old fashioned age-gap romance. Plenty of old friends and new faces. When Korbin accepts the responsibility of being the emergency on call vet so all the others can spend the Christmas holidays with their families, he never thinks he'll find his mate. Finding an abandoned dog, taking him home, clogging his drains, add some humor to the story. It also brings Korbin and Jett together at the grocery store. Jett owns the construction company that is doing he remodel and expansion of the Vet clinic over the holidays. Although intrigued by Korbin, he shies away. After all, Korbin is the same age as his son! Turns out Korbin is friends with Braydon, Jett's son. Braydon comes to apprentice with his dad, after dropping out of law school. He and Korbin reconnect. Jett and Korbin overcome the age gap thing and really connect. Problem: Korbin doesn't know Jett is Braydon's dad, and Jett doesn't know Korbin is Braydon's friend. When they're caught, things get dicey for a while. But this is the Sunnydale series, so HEA is assured. You will fall in love along with Jett and Korbin. Their story will touch you in all the right places. Yes, there is sex. There is romance. You will love it! This book contains adult themes, language, MM sex and is intended for mature 18+ readers.
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or 'Liberty' from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey’s books) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times a year (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok). It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
I loved this book. It is a bit like a May/December type love story. But when you love, you love. Jett is older, an alpha, and has a son by a unplanned pregnancy. The omega father is a wealthy, alcoholic snob who keeps putting Jett down every chance he gets. But their son wants to see his Alpha father, so Brayden is coming to town, not only to see his father and learn his trade but also to get together with his best friend from school. Korbin is Brayden's best friend, and he can't believe he is back. And another great thing happened is Korbin ran into this amazing older alpha that he can not get out of his head. Jett is so smitten with the young omega, and he never thought about even dating someone as young as his son, but there is something there and they both feel it. So a bit of flirting, an amazing kiss, and a date, they are both serious about each other, and now Brayden has found out, even though Korbin did not know that Jett was his father, and Jett did not know about Korbin being the best friend. Can their love make it work? or is the age difference to much? Great writing and a great HEA. I recieved a free copy of this book via book sprout for my honest review
But I thought! But you were! But I thought! Korbin, Omega Veteranarian, newest and youngest member of SunnyDale felt he had a lot to prove. Jett, Alpha, divorcedc contractor renovating SunnyDale and adding large animal wing over the holidays. Jett's son Braydon suddenly decided to leave school and come work for his dad. Jett grateful his son is coming back home to work wiht him, hoping for a chance to get to know each other. BTW, Brayden and Korbin are best friends. No names are mentioned and Korbin and Jett meet, are attracted and start an intimate relationship. What happens when they realize who they all are? How will that happen? Will it be funny, devestating or just a moment? I like Jett he is strong where he needs to be strong; gentle when he needs to be gentle; sexy because he just can't help it and loyal to a fault. Brayden is an entitled brat, but he's still learning and a good friend and son. Korbin seems like a nice guy and not shy about what he wants. Absolutely delightful. We got to see how all the other couples and their families are doing. Nicely done! I recevied an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
Jett King never really had a chance at love. After a one night stand turned into a shot gun wedding after an expected pregnancy, he finds himself now a divorcee picking up the pieces of his life. As a sought after builder in his home town, he’s given a large project that gives him the opportunity to reconnect with his grown son.
Korbin Bishop is the youngest veterinarian at Sunnydale Vet Clinic. While the clinic is closed for renovations during the holidays he’s anxious to show his bosses and the other seasoned vets that he can handle any emergency. He also wants to impress the contractor on the project.
Jett and Korbin hit it off right away. Despite the age gap between them their attraction to one another is undeniable. They hit a bump when Korbin finds out that Jett is his best friend’s dad. Neither of them had any idea of the connection to Jett’s son.
This was such a fun story. I absolutely loved Jett and Korbin together. The age gap didn’t even factor into the story for me. Their chemistry was electric and I loved every minute of this story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Jett owns a construction company and he is about to start an expansion at the vet clinic. His adult son will be with him learning the trade and giving them both a chance to reconnect. Korbin is the youngest vet at Sunnydale and is looking forward to proving himself worthy of his position by working alone through the holiday season while the construction is being completed. A chance meeting at the local store brings Jett and Korbin together and the spark of interest is ignited. Neither man thought they would be interested in someone with a big age difference but the attraction is undeniable and the more time they spend together, the deeper their connection becomes. This is a well written, warm hearted story with characters and storyline that are intriguing, it has low angst, lots of witty banter, intense sexual attraction, a genuine connection, and more that leads to a beautiful love and a satisfyingly sweet HEA. I would definitely recommend this book. I would have liked an epilogue but other than that, I absolutely loved this book!!

Brayden was looking forward to re-connecting with his childhood best friend, and not looking forward to, but anticipating adulting, and getting to know his alpha dad in a more grown up way.
Jett was really looking forward to seeing his son and figuring out why he really came back to their hometown. And he meets this cutie omega at the grocery.
Korbin is a young vet, new to the Sunnydale Veterinary staff. He is eager to prove his worth to the team during their renovations over the holidays.
Korbin is able to connect with Brayden enough to learn the truth behind his abrupt departure from New York, and the related personal betrayals. Somehow the two never put together that the older alpha Korbin likes from the crew with Brayden is his dad. Oops.
This seems like a promising family all around- despite the tangles.
A fun KU read!
I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout. I read it on Kindle Unlimited. I either bought or borrowed most of the books in this series from Kindle or Kindle Unlimited.
As with all the other Sunnydale Vets books, this one was funny at times as well as heartwarming and a tiny bit angsty. Its a story about starting over for Jett in more ways than one, in new romantic relationship and rebuilding his relationship with his son. I really felt sorry for Jett in the beginning because his ex was a total tool and treated him like crap and badmouthed him to his son. Now, his son is leaving college and moving in with him...reasons not revealed to Jett.
Korbin is the youngest vet at Sunnydale and wants to prove that he has the same knowledge as the more experienced vets. He is looking to find his forever Alpha too. He runs into Jett who is doing the remodeling of the clinic and father to his best friend who is moving back to Devon. Let the misunderstandings and shockers begin!
Awesome book...can't wait for the next one! I was provided an ARC for an honest review.

This is book 7 of the Sunnydale Vets series but can be read as a stand alone. I have loved this series since book 1 and was happy to see there was more in the works.
This one has a great story concept, however, some of the things going on, just don't seem plausible. I can not see, how these characters do not know who each other are. It just does not make sense to me. Yea, it's a story, it is fiction, but realistically, their naivety just blows my mind. But like I said, the story concept is great. I love the characters (even if they could not see the forest for the trees). Good description to detail. All in all, an entertaining read.
Written as a 1st person, multi pov. with a HFN ending.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes

A very enjoyable sweet, heartwarming Mpreg romance that has a well-written interesting plot & intriguing characters that are quite complex at times, there is good support from the second characters. There is some character crossovers from previous books but this book is complete & standalone There is: an alpha & construction business owner (Jett) who is doing a veterinarian clinic remodel, the young omega & veterinarian (Korban) he becomes involved with, Jett’s rather emotional son (Brayden), Jett’s lying omega ex-husband (Ethan), some mischievous dogs, some twists, drama, memories, attractions, tentative father/son reconnection, friendship, verbal banter, suspicions, disagreements, anticipation, discovery shock, verbal conflict, compromises, surprises, some steam, contentment & a happy ending
Alpha Jett King is excited to have his son come to live with him and learn his trade. Brayden decides to learn his alpha dads trade because he messed up at school and does not want to finish his degree. Omega Korbin Bishop is willing to work the emergencies at the animal hospital while the remodel is going on over the Christmas holidays. Jett and Korbin hit it off and have a few stolen moments before they realize who the other person actually is. Brayden and Korbin have been best friends for years and Brayden was a little upset when he first saw his dad and best friend kissing. Can Jett and Korbin find the love they need in each other. Will Brayden be happy for his alpha dad and best friend, or will Brayden keep them apart?

Jett is just making inroads with his self-esteem after years of marriage to a prima donna, domineering and abusive omega who took his son when he left. Now Jett has a chance to reconnect with his son, Braydon when he accepts an internship with his construction company. Jett is to remodel the Sunnydale Vet Clinic over the Holidays and Korbin is a new, young omega vet who will be in charge of the clinic during the renovation. Jett and Korbin strike instant sparks when they meet and each time thereafter, the flame grows. The little matter of an age difference fades as they get to know each other. Through a series of misconceptions, miscommunications, and misunderstanding this plot twists and turns in a delightful and insightful manner. This is a wonderful, short read for those summer trips or a day in the sun. I am reviewing this book sponsored by Booksprout.
Korbin encounters Jett at the store unaware that he is his friend Brayden's father. Omega Vet Korbin heads for the store after bathing the huge dog that was a rescued one and having the bath plughole getting bunged up with hair. At the checkout an older Alpha suggests only getting one of the products and use a wire hanger to clear out the hair. The he get a call from his best friend who has just returned to Devon asking him out for a drink where Brayden talks of how awkward it is interacting with his Alpha Father. Alpha Jett talks to the beautiful omega at the store then goes home to greet his son who will be staying and working with him learning the construction trade.

This is the first book in the series I have read. But after reading this I want to go back and read the rest.
What happens when the guy you are falling for happens to be your best friends dad? Jett is so happy to have his estranged son back in his life learning his craft with him when he picks up a job expanding the local vets office over Christmas break. Korbin is so lucky to be the vet on call over the holidays while the construction is taking place when he falls for the silver haired builder.
Korbin is so lucky to have his childhood friend back in town to discuss this new man he has fallen for. However when when Korbin and Jett get caught kissing on the job they are all in for a big surprise.
The latest in this series is the story of Korbin (a vet) and Jett (the construction business owner who is doing the clinic remodel. They get to know each other and start falling in love not realizing Korbin is the best friend of Jett's son. The son finds out and drama, hurt feelings and distance occurs. Read this to see how they get their HEA.

I enjoyed the relationship between Jett and Korbin. They get over the their age difference, but then discover Jett's son is Korbin's best friend. *Awkward* The resulting shock isn't too severe, and eventually it all works out where everyone is happy. I love the low angst approach. Let love decide your path. I really enjoyed seeing the couples from the preceding books again. This is a fun, feel-good series.

This short but sweet story brings us back to Sunnydale, where the alpha/omega pairings abound. Older alpha Jett meets younger omega Korbin and the unintended flirting/jokes and sparks fly. Add Korbin’s best friend who also happens to be Jett’s son to the mix and you get a fun, if somewhat predictable, romp.
Fun, quick story with very little angst and a typical (for these two) HEA.

This book was so amazingly sweet. I love books that have an age difference and where the characters havent really experienced or found love before. The storyline was wonderful and beautifully written. The characters were well developed and very likeable....you found help but feel for Jett, Korbin, and Brayden.

* I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *
It is the last book in the Sunnydale Vets series. It is a fast and enjoyable read with a huge age gap between MCs.
I liked this story, but I can't understand how Jett didn't think about protection. All in all he got his first boyfriend pregnant because he didn't think about it and now many, many years later he is still the same, still irresponsible.
I listened to this book at 1.45 Author: Austin Bates Plot. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars Story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars & why. Kind of believable except for the fact that there are that many gay vets working at the same small small town office. And it's a omega story line. Males giving birth. Heat. 🔥🔥flames Narrator.: Guilliaume Dubois Betrayal of the story. 🥈 Silver. why: Needs work on more voices. Some were real good and others sounded like he was drowning. Over all 4 stars.
Your going to feel all the special tingle 's on this on
You can't help but smile when you meet the older Alpha Nett who is divorced with a grown son he is trying to reconnect with who is sweet and sexy or call in love the feisty and funny oh yeah and hasn't figured out his new boy friend is his best friends dad.And I dare you not to enjoy this story
Barking Up The Right Tree is the seventh book in the Sunnydale Vets series by Austin Bates. It is cute, sweet, funny and fun.... with just a slight taste of drama ... I mean Jett IS Kornin's best friend's father, afterall. I love Jett and Korbin and the age gap romance.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the story and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
It was nice reading a book with out to much drama. Jett and Korbin falls for each other when Jett renovates the clinic. There is a big age differense between them but that doesn’t bother them. The only black spot is Jett’s son who also are Korbins best childhood friend.
What a wonderful way to conclude a series! Korbin and Jett both deserve a HEA and I’m glad they found one in each other! This book was so sweet and I love how Korbin gets to prove his veterinary skills and Jett gets to reconnect with his son! This was such a fantastic and quick read!

I liked this story because it was very easy to get into. I loved that it featured an older younger couple instead of two young men. I think that the author did a good job with the narrative.

Jett's son, Brayden. is coming back to Devlin to learn the construction business from him. Jett also meets Korbin a young man the same age of his son and he can't stop thinking about him. I'm really enjoying this series. I can't wait for the next book by this author.
