McClain has written a beautiful Christmas love story about Holly Gibson searching for the father of her young niece left in her care after her sister’s death. She never expected to meet Cash, her niece’s father, or to find him so perfect for her.

Cash is shocked to find he has a young daughter, Penny, and even more shocked to find her Aunt so appealing.

Will scars from the past ruin their chance at happiness?

One thing is for sure, the town of Safe Haven is the perfect setting with a perfectly relatable cast for Holly, Penny and Cash all to find happiness.

I received this ARC copy of Low Country Christmas from HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada) - HQN. This is my honest and voluntary review. Low Country Christmas is set for publication Sept. 24, 2019.

A nice Christmas romance story with some twist and turns and unpredictable moments. The story had a nice ending and I enjoyed listening to it. The plot and characters were good.
A young baby loses her mother to a drug overdose. Her Only Aunt gains custody of her and goes in search of the baby’s father. The father is a successful businessman and a millionaire who doesn’t have a clue he has a baby girl. Holly needs financial help to take care of Pennys needs. How will this man react when he learns he has a daughter?
Although the Christmas season is mentioned in the story readers only get occasional glimpses of it. The story is more focused on the situation with the new father, Penny and her Aunt Holly plus other members of the fathers family. I wasn’t immediately swept into the story but eventually I was won over .
I recommend this book to readers of contemporary romance.
I purchased a audio book from Chirp. A favorable review was not requested.

If you want a book that will keep you entertained from start to finish and leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling, then Low Country Christmas by Lee Tobin McClain is the book for you. It’s book three in her Safe Haven series and tells the story of the final O’Dwyer brother, Cash. I haven’t read the previous books in the series, Low Country Hero and Low Country Dreams, but I plan to rectify that mistake.

Big city girl, Holly Gibson, travels to the small town of Safe Haven in search of her one-year-old niece’s father, Cash O’Dwyer. Holly is totally overwhelmed by the welcome and attention that she and little Penny receive from Cash and his family and most of the residents of the town. Now things are really complicated because she never expected to fall for Penny’s father.

Cash O’Dwyer is surprised to find that he really is the father of Holly’s niece, Penny. He’s a man of means, so women have tried to con him in the past. He had a complicated upbringing so he’s not sure if he’ll be a good father. Now he’s made a complicated situation worse by falling for Penny’s aunt.

Though this is the first book I’ve read in the Safe Haven series, I have read several of Ms. McClain’s other books and expected a great reading experience, and she did not disappoint me here. The characters are well-developed and with few exceptions, these are people you want to know. The plot and pace are engaging. The small town of Safe Haven is the perfect backdrop for the overall effect. The fact that the story takes place during the Christmas season only adds to the joy and peace invoked in the reader. Low Country Christmas is a 5 star read and I recommend it to all readers of romance.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

This is yet another series where I just jumped in midway without reading the two previous books but I was totally fine starting here. The author does a great job at providing just enough background information so you’re not lost, although she did make me curious about the other two O’Dwyer brothers so I may be going back to the beginning at some point. This seems to be my preferred way to read a series, backwards with no rhyme or reason but it works for me! 🤪

I love the premise of this one, the fact that Holly’s sister is the mother of Cash’s daughter was intriguing to me, the idea that the two of them had no history together and were meeting under these circumstances definitely kept me engaged. I found Holly to be relatable and sweet, I was rooting for her to find her HEA and thought she was admirable for doing her best to provide her baby niece with a stable and happy life. Cash was adorable as he tried to navigate how to be a dad and while he did drive me crazy a few times with his abrupt manner towards Holly, he won me over in the end.

This was a sweet, heartwarming little holiday romance and the setting matched the charm of the story perfectly. The residents of Safe Haven added even more heart to an already heartfelt story and I loved the side storylines that played out alongside the main plot. Definitely recommended by me, especially if you like small town romances!

Review to come to my blog & I’m sharing my thoughts in a video coming to YT (probably on 11 Dec 19)
This is my first romance by this author and WOW she blew me away with her story telling. Don’t be fooled by the cute holiday cover, this book will put a heaviness in your chest. It’s tense. Don’t want to say too much here, but I really enjoyed it.

This is third in the series about the O’Dwyer brothers, this time featuring Cash. Cash is a wealthy businessman living in Atlanta, Georgia but with enough ties to Safe Haven, South Carolina that he maintains a place to live when he is in town. Just before Safe Haven’s annual Christmas tree lighting, Holly shows up at his apartment with her sister’s young baby, claiming that the baby is his after he spent a week with her sister a while back. Cash has a hard time believing that baby Penny can possibly be his and he suspects that Holly just wants some of his money.

This is the story of how Cash, Holly, and baby Penny become the family that Cash didn’t realize he wanted.

Safe Haven is a small, very close community and truly no place could be better when it comes to adjusting to life-changing circumstances. As with previous installments, the town locals rally around Cash and Holly. I think the friends and family in this series really make it special. They’re each so well-developed that I feel like I know them. Everyone is so genuine and helpful-it makes me long to live in a place like Safe Haven.

Holly is single and new to parenting after agreeing to raise her sister’s baby. She moved from New York City to Safe Haven at the request of her sister, specifically to find Cash and raise the baby close to him. At first, she is a little put-off by everyone constantly wanting to keep the baby for her and wanting to help her so much. She really has to work to adjust to the kindness of the community. She also struggles to open up to Cash’s friends and family in the beginning, but when she finally does it is wonderful and a much more full life for baby Penny.

Cash’s backstory is large in this installment, as it has been with the other brothers in their own installments, and it is great to see Cash finally warming up to his mother. This is the third book in this series, so I already knew plenty about Cash, his mother, and his backstory from reading the previous books in this series, which made the plot progression in this story feel smooth and right. This is meant to read well as a standalone, and I think it really does, but I also love that I have read the previous books so that I really have that understanding of what happened in the past and I feel sort of close to these characters.

Toward the end, the story took a suspenseful turn, but thankfully all ends well.

I had suspected early on with the first book in this series that the stories around some of the secondary characters would be explored more fully as the series progressed, and I’m so pleased to find that the case. I wonder if this is the end of the Safe Haven series? I’ve enjoyed it so much and it makes me want to read more from Ms. McClain.

Unfortunately this book didn’t engage me as much as I hoped. This is probably for a few reasons. Holly arrives in Safe Haven, with her late sister’s daughter. She is seeking out Cash, the father of this child, from a weeklong fling her sister had with him. This was such a strange basis for a relationship between the two of them that I never fully connected with the characters. I’m also not entirely sure I’d categorize this one as a romance, and that is what I went in expecting. This one seemed more like women’s fiction, with a little romance and and a suspense element. And it was pretty light on Christmas, at least for my liking. For these reasons I gave Low Country Christmas two stars!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

After finishing this series I am a die-hard Lee Tobin McClain fan! What an incredible introduction to this author's storytelling capabilities. And Low Country Christmas (eeeeppp over that cover!) is the emotionally sucker-punched, stand-up-and-cheer grand finale! It can totally be read as a standalone BUT if you've been following secondary character Rita's story this one will knock your socks off.

Of all the O'Dwyer brothers I have to admit that I was bedazzled by Cash the most. The successful middle brother who couldn't leave Safe Haven fast enough. The one who turns keeping a distance into a fine art. He loves his brothers and he's always there for them when they need him, but he also holds himself aloof, harboring secret untruths that he needs to share so he can finally be free.

When Sean and Liam find wives and ready-made families and start to have kids of their own, Cash discovers that he's pretty good at playing doting uncle. (Insert toe-curling swoons here, because that man's interaction with children is....thud!) He's pretty messed up from childhood trauma though, and he's decided that he's not cut out to be a family man. Enter Holly with her infant niece, Penny, who just happens to be Cash's daughter. Or so she claims.

What follows is a thrilling emotional roller-coaster of pure reading delight! The complexities of Cash and Holly's relationship. Little Penny's struggles after a rough start in life. Holly's fierce independence that makes her seem stand-offish. They both have trust issues, strong opinions and a fierce love for Penny. And then there's all the other stuff happening around town. Completely riveting. I read with my heart in my throat right through to the end. And what a blockbuster ending!

If you are looking for an epic Christmas romance, Low Country Christmas definitely belongs on your Santa list!

Low Country Christmas, the third book of author Lee Tobin McClain’s Safe Haven series, tells the story of Holly Gibson and her journey with her young niece, Penny, to meet the father who doesn’t know Penny exists. Cash O’Dwyer, middle son, has done extremely well in business. While his brothers are happy it’s their less exotic careers, Cash is a wheeler-dealer making million dollar deals. He also worries he is cursed to be like their no account father and doesn’t want to ruin a wife or child’s lives because of this.

Accustomed to women trying to take him on a financial ride, when he is approached by Holly and told Penny is his, he is kind but doesn’t believe it to be true until the test results are in. It would seem that Cash and Holly’s sister Tiffany had a weeklong affair, then went their separate ways never to speak again. He never heard from Tiff when she learned she was pregnant and didn’t know she had died, leaving both guardianship and directions to seek Cash out to Holly.

Holly is fiercely independent and only wants assistance for Penny so that she can have a good life. Cash respects this and makes strides to be there for his little girl until he feels he has been lied to and taken for a heartbreaking financial ride.

In a very twisty tale of family, feelings, and the chance for a promising future, Ms. McClain has woven a wonderful story for the holidays. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

Three stars: A good women’s fiction story, but a few holiday mentions doesn’t make it a Christmas book.

Holly isn’t sure what to expect from Cash O’Dwyer, but she needs his help. Holly is now the caretaker for her young niece after her sister unexpectedly died. The father is presumably Cash O’Dwyer, a wealth bachelor. Cash is polite upon first meeting and then taken aback when Holly tells him he is the father. Cash is certain this is just another young woman trying go trap him. He doesn’t have time to be a father. Yet, Penny is adorable and he soon finds himself drawn to the child. Will he have a change of heart?
What I Liked:
*Low Country Christmas is a book I picked up wanting a nice, cheerful holiday read. While this book fails as a Christmas book, it presents a solid women’s fiction story with a touch of romance.
*I wasn’t sure about Cash the first couple fo meetings. He is a wealthy bachelor who has his choice of women. I thought he was going to be selfish and uptight, but luckily he is more than meets the eye. As his tough exterior peels away, there is a damaged man underneath, one who survived terrible trauma as a child. Cash in reality is kind, caring and generous. Once he realizes the truth about Penny, he immediately steps up and does the right thing.
*Holly was also hard to pin down upon first meeting. She too has plenty of issues and a troubled past. She is fierce, protective and often snippy. When she lets her guard down, she is kind and sweet. I had to admire her willingness to take care of her niece under tough circumstances.
This is the third in a series. I didn’t have trouble finding my footing, the author provides plenty of background/ catch up information that helped me figure out what occurred in the previous books.
*The secondary cast of characters is strong and they play an important part in the book. I enjoyed getting to know Cash’s brothers, their stories are featured in the other two books. Both Sean and Liam already found their partners and have adorable families. I loved how the brothers were always there to lean on and support one another. Cash’s mother, Rita, is the character who my heart went out to the most. She is a recovering victim of domestic violence, suffering from amnesia. She has been through hell and back, yet she keeps going and offers love and kindness to those in need. I was happy that she found some peace and happiness.
*The romance is slow and steady. It starts out rocky, but over time it moves to a hesitant trust and a friendship is born, and then it takes a few more steps onto the path of love, and then falters before finding strong footing again. I liked that it took it’s time and that both characters explored their issues and dealt with them before committing. This isn’t a scorching romance by any means, it is a slow burn.
*After some dramatic upheaval, the book ends down the road with a happy event. I was delighted to see the way everything worked out for everyone and pleased with the results.
And The Not So Much:
*My big gripe with this one is that it is another book that is not really a Christmas book, but it got a Christmas title slapped onto and a few holiday mentions and all of a sudden it’s a Christmas book. First, this is not a warm, cozy read. There are a lot of serious situations and some tough stuff such as domestic violence and abuse, drug abuse and overdose, health problems and kidnapping and ransom. So if you are wanting a a light, happy read, this isn’t it. This really isn’t a Christmas book at all. There are a few mentions of trimming trees and decorating but that’s it. It was a big disappointment as far as holiday reads. I wouldn’t even classify this as a holiday book so don’t let the misleading title fool you. I wanted light and fluffy and I didn’t get that.
*There was a lot of negativity in this book. I especially didn’t like the situation with Cash’s real father. He is a nasty piece of work. Then his actions at the end were a little over the top and far fetched. I could have done with that whole plot. It really put a negative angle on the book.
*I was disappointed in Rita when it came to Jimmy. Jimmy behaves poorly when Rita gets a dog. I thought she should have kicked him to the curb. The last thing she needed was another man trying to control her. Ugh!
*The romance was plenty but the big ugly stumbles were a bit much.

Low Country Christmas is a book that masquerades as a Christmas book, but this isn’t a holiday, feel good book. This is more of a women’s fiction story. I was disappointed that this book lacked the feel, good holiday warmth I was wanting when I picked up this title. This book deals with a lot of serious stuff from domestic violence, drug addiction and more. If you want a happy book with lots of Christmas cheer, this one does not fit the bill. If you want an interesting story with a romance, try it.

Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an E-galley in exchange for my honest review.
At first glance Cash O’Dwyer seems to have everything. He has a successful career and a great relationship with his brothers and their families. That has always been good enough until the day he finds out he has a daughter. That’s a game changer he hadn’t expected. What will he do now that life has thrown a curve ball?

This is a story about figuring out what’s important and why. As in the previous novels in the series there’s a little romance, a little drama and a warm, cozy ending. Although Low Country Christmas can stand alone I’m glad I read all three in order because there are a few secondary plot points that continue throughout the series. 3.5 stars rounded up.

All her life, it’s been only Holly and her sister Tiffany, with a mother who was, at best, inadequate. But when Tiffany dies, Holly is truly alone, except for her tiny niece, Penny, who Tiffany entrusted into Molly’s care. Fulfilling Tiffany's last wishes, Holly goes to the small beach community of Safe Haven to find Cash O'Dwyer and introduce him to his daughter. For as little as Holly knows about being part of a family, Cash believes he's a carbon copy of his worthless father and thinks he has no business trying to be a husband or father. But since meeting and falling in love with his year-old daughter, Cash wants to try and be the father Penny needs.

This is one of those books that leaves me with conflicting emotions. I adore these characters and love their heartwarming, emotional journey, but Cash's story means the end of my visits to the warm, welcoming community of Safe Haven. This is one of those series I wish could go on forever because the characters have secured a permanent place in my heart, from the O'Dwyer brothers and their ladies to the crotchety menswear shop owner who loves his dog but isn’t too fond of people.

Holly and Cash both have some baggage, and even in the best of circumstances they have some things to work through. Their road to forever is fraught with bumps and dips and curves, along with that element of suspense that this author does so well. But they're both so endearing and authentically human that they won me over from the start and I was cheering for them from beginning to end. These are characters that stay with the reader long after the last page, and their heartfelt, evocative, feel-good story is one you absolutely don't want to miss!

*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.

Low Country Christmas is the third book in Lee Tobin McClain's Safe Haven series. Because the author put enough background information in the book, this book could be read without having read the other books first. However all the characters are great as is the whole series. I think readers would want to read all the books in order to truly enjoy the series. I received a copy of this book from the author but was not required to review it. My opinion is my own.

Cash and Holly as well as Cash's siblings, mother, and the other supporting characters could be actual people. I loved them. The books were hard to put down because I wanted to know what happened next. The author gave so much detail and life to the characters and made the situations so real that you could imagine every scene. Lee Tobin McClain is a gifted author! One warning is that the series could be a trigger for those who experienced domestic violence. I believe it was dealt with care.

Once again I have jumped into a series on book #3. Now I did enjoy this story with no issues, but I missed a huge backstory that I need to go back and read. This is the third book in the Safe Haven series, about the O’Dwyer family. This story is about Cash, an extremely well off family member and confirmed bachelor. When Holly Gibson shows up in Safe Haven with a baby in tow, Cash assumes that she is going to say he is the father of her child. Well, he is the father, but it is not her child, it is her recently deceased sister's child, who Cash remembers having a fling with. Cash wants to do what is right, and finds himself falling in love with little Penny.

I really enjoyed this story. Holly is an independent woman who wants nothing from Cash except support for Penny and for him to be involved in his daughter's life. She finds a place to live and gets herself a job as a dog walker. She brings Penny everywhere she goes and is quite pleased with herself. Cash does not want her to work. He is willing to give her money to support both of them so she will be home with Penny being a "stay at home mother". I enjoyed the dialogue between these two fiery personalities. Cash is a pushover where Penny is concerned, but still not sure what he wants out of life. When a secret is exposed and Penny is in danger, can Cash and Holly work together to save her. Will they realize that they have feelings for each other. A sweet, uplifting story where the spirit of Christmas shines through. Tanya Eby narrated this audiobook and as always, I enjoyed her narration. She has a sweet voice and does a good job giving Holly a voice. Her male voices were pretty well done and I enjoyed her expression and tone. Overall a very pleasant story and one I recommend to those who enjoy a sweet, uplifting Christmas romance.

Holly Gibson had a good life in New York City. She loved her job and all the amenities the Big Apple has to offer. Then her sister dies and leaves Holly with her one-year-old niece Penny and a mission to find Penny's father to let him know he has a daughter. Holly travels to the small town of Safe Haven, SC to find Cash O'Dwyer. Cash is a multi-millionaire who has the ladies drooling over him and Cash has experienced enough of these ladies who are more interested in his money than in him. Cash acknowledges the week he spent with Holly's sister Tiffany but Tiffany told him she was on birth control so Penny couldn't be his daughter. Fast forward to getting the results of the DNA test- Cash is indeed Penny's father. Penny is an adorable baby and Cash finds himself drawn to her. The problem is he is drawn to her aunt also. Cash isn't a settle-down kind of guy. Or is he?

Low Country Christmas by Lee Tobin McClain is the third book in her Safe Haven series. I didn't read the first two books in the series but after reading this one and getting glimpses of the background stories of Cash's two brothers in the first two books I definitely plan to go back and read those books. Lee Tobin McClain has written a heartwarming story about 2 people who are attracted to each other and love a precious baby girl. They fight their attraction but fall in love with each other in the end. Setting this story during the Christmas season enhanced my enjoyment of the book. I enjoyed reading about the holiday traditions in Safe Haven and the family traditions as well. Safe Haven is a delightful small town where the community comes together and nobody is a stranger for long. My kind of town. I totally enjoyed this story!

I give this book 5 stars for a wonderful story!
Lee is an excellent author that can write a good story and can keep her readers engaged from beginning to end. I love that about her.
The plot of the story is wonderful too!
Christmas is my favorite time of the holiday!
I think what I love most about this book is how she can bring a character to Safe Haven out of the blue.
Holly is an interesting person. I just fell in love with her at the beginning of the story. Her strong, bubbly, personality is a wonderful trait to have while Natalie is the quiet, reserved type that wants to be cautious.
Rita has an interesting background as well.
We know Holly came to Safe Haven for a reason but I won't say cause I don't want to give it away!
Chase is pretty good too. If he were a real person he can be my protector at all times as far as I'm concerned.
He continued to impress me throughout the whole book. Chase has become my favorite of the 3 brothers.
I really recommend this book. Christmas can't come fast enough lol!
Lee once again thank you for a wonderful book and I hope that you will write another book about this sweet town called Safe Haven

Holly has custody of her late sister's daughter, Penny. At her sister's request, Holly heads to Safe Haven where the baby's dad lives part time. Cash is a multi-millionaire playboy who has never wanted to settle down. When Holly tells him the baby is his, he thinks that she is just after money, after all this has happened to him before. However a DNA test proves that Penny is in fact his daughter.

The rest of the book we see the co-parenting relationship that develops between Holly and Cash as they deal with the developmental problems that Penny has. Holly has always been on her own, so she has to learn to trust people, Cash has never thought he'd be good at relationships due to the poor example his father set. It was interesting and at times frustrating to see their relationship progress over the course of the book.

It was an enjoyable book and I'd read another by this author in the future.

A new author for me and I loved the story of Holly and Cash! After a rough childhood, Cash doesn't envision a happy ever after as father and husband, even though his two brothers have it all. As a millionaire he has a jaded look at women and narriage, it seems all that attracts them is his money.

Holly is different and she works hard to be independent. She just wants to ensure her niece Penny has contact and builds a relationship with her dad, who turns out to be Cash. The relationship develops and they both learn communication, trust, and friendship firm the best foundation for a chance at a lifetime of live.

Now I bought books 1 and 2 in the Safe Haven series I liked it so much!

Low Country Christmas is the third book in the Safe Haven series by Lee Tobin McClain and is a lovely holiday romance. While this is part of the Safe Haven series, it can easily be read as a standalone novel. A story full of magic and mystery that is sure to bring the magic of the holiday season to life. A well-written story that reads like a movie and will hold your attention to the very end. McClain is a talented writer who has done her research and it shows. The attention to detail adds to the warm undertones of the story line, the characters are realistic and relatable. The Safe Haven series are books that once you start reading you will not want to put down and Low Country Christmas only adds more intrigue to the series.

I listened to audiobook and really enjoyed it. It was like a Hallmark movie. I didn't realize it was part of a series until I went to log it on Goodreads. Now I'll have to see if library has the rest of them. I found myself driving a bit slower and taking my time getting home yesterday just to hear a bit more of it. Then when my husband and I ran into some of his friends on a bike ride later I was like go with them. I'll just head home. Home so I could finish the rest of the book 😉. I loved how each of the characters no matter how small their part we were given background and they all played an important role in Penny and Holly's life.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the 3rd book in a series a out 3 brothers, who were abandoned by their parents, or so they thought. I felt that it started a little slow but once it started getting exciting it was impossible to put down. I loved how the book connected e everything togather..
Cash never wanted to be a father because he figured he was the. Oct like his father and follow in his footsteps. Was he right?

Thank you Harlequin and Netgalley for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.

A beautiful and poignant conclusion to a wonderful series. I enjoyed the whole cast of characters, as well as the setting and obstacles the hero and heroine had to conquer. Low Country Christmas, in particular, had an intense third act as the antagonistic forces at work throughout the whole series launched one final attack. Lee Tobin McClain has crafted a beautifully written novel about the power of love, second chances and redemption. I highly recommend the entire Safe Haven series.

Holly and Cash have no reason to know each other but they have one thing in common, a baby. After Cash had a short affair with Holly’s sister, a baby was left in the mix. Holly had her sister’s wishes to follow and she had no interest is falling in love. She was surprised more than anyone to realize that she loved Cash and he loved her. This was a wonderful story of settling down and finding the one thing you didn’t realize you wanted or needed.

This story was a little contrived and eye-rolling from the outset but engaging enough to read for the Christmas season. I was thinking I would rate it 3 stars and possibly find another book from the series in the future to learn more about the brothers but then they “jumped the shark” with a plot line that was just too ridiculous and overly dramatic. Rating it a 2 because I finished but it was unbelievable and silly in the end.

This is the last Christmas book and maybe the last book of the year for me. This was a nice Christmas story about the power of family. It felt like I came into the story on season three though. It is the second Low Country Christmas book I listened to this year. Fast listen, easy love story, redemption, all the best of a Hallmark movie. Just wish you could slap some characters upside the head once in a while.

And a happy new year

The great storytelling begins with the first words setting the characters and the feel of the story to come. So many things going on in Safe Haven in the lives of not only the O'Dwyer family but friends readers of the series have made. I feel sad to come to the end of this series but can choose other great Lee Tobin McClain books to enjoy!

This is the 3rd installment of the Safe Haven series. It relates the story of Cash O'Dwyer. If you have read the other two books, you know it is Cash's turn to find love. He meets Holly Gibson with her one year old niece, Penny. Her sister has died of a drug over dose, and she travels to Safe Haven to meet Cash, the father who doesn’t know Penny exists. The story is predictable, but it works.
