Life's been trying to break Sissy Mullen since the day she was born. Though her violent father nearly ran her into the ground, she's finally free.
Nathan "Butch" Davies doesn't like people. Bailey Johansson and Nick Davies' quiet middle son is better at busting heads than making conversation. The Reapers enforcer will need to leave his comfort zone if he hopes to show Sissy that he's the man she doesn't know she needs.
Unfortunately, claiming the woman he loves means pissing off his older brother and stirring up trouble between the Reapers' local chapter and Conroe's former overlords.
Don't Do Me Wrong contains graphic sexual content, violent situations, and harsh language. The book is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.
I’m a huge Bijou fan and I love most (but not all) of her books. But I wasn’t sure about reading this one.
Sissy has an innocence about her. She loves her children wholeheartedly and she’s loyal. But she’s not the brightest bulb in the box and she can’t say no.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book. I certainly wasn’t looking forward to it like I usually do.
So with a little trepidation I opened my kindle and decided to give it a try.
I found I enjoyed it. Sissy turned out to be charming and the way she loves her children is beautiful. Her and Butch were made for each other.
It has Bijou’s characters, sarcastic humour and the Johansson’s. And now I’m waiting for Bubba’s book.
I love Bijou Hunter and if she writes it I read it but in all honesty I didn't really want Sissy Mullens to have her own book. I liked her in her brothers book and thought she was sweet and I felt for her(how could you not) but I didn't think she was heroine/book material. Boy was I wrong. This book was great. From chapter one I was hooked and I didn't want to put this book down. I read this when I was really busy and yet I found myself picking this book up every second I could and being surprised at how fast I was getting through the book.
We learned a lot about Sissy and what we learned was sad and made you just want her catching a break not only for her but for her two children who have had a life filled with not much good. In this book we learn more of what Sissy has had to endure but more just how strong and loving and kind Sissy is. She thinks she's dumb but I think she has an amazing ability to love after being shown almost nothing but pain and hatred. Sissy needed a hero. She needed a man who would love her and her kids completely and treat her with care and understanding and she finds that and so much more in Butch.
Butch saw Sissy years ago and helped her when no one else would but then left and has always regretted it, now that Sissy lives in his town Butch can't get her off his mind but a promise to his cousin may have Butch loosing the only woman he has ever loved. Sissy has had a horrible life and men have done nothing but hurt and use her(with the exception of her brother) But Butch is different and he's the only man she will ever want. But Sissy made a mistake that may stop them from being happy together. Butch can't let Sissy and her family get away and he plans to do whatever it takes to get them and keep them and make them all his, and then give them the world they deserve and no one will stop him. But some people have other ideas not only about Butch but about Butch's whole family.
Lets be honest we know this book has to be great just because Butch's mom is Bailey and she is one of a kind but this book is special because Butch is an amazing hero who will tie himself in knots to make his family happy and who will do anything to claim the family he loves as his own. Sissy and her kids are a package and Butch wants it all and I loved him for that, but more because he will walk through fire to protect them and make them happy. I loved seeing Sissy and Butch together and I was os happy they found each other.
We get some serious stuff in this book but if you read books with Sissy in it before you know this going in. We also get some great family moments and like all Bijou Hunter books some great funny moments that will have you laughing out loud. The Johansson's are one of a kind and their antics are priceless. Bailey is something special and her moments in this book are things I couldn't get enough of. Bijou Hunter never lets me down she does an amazing job of creating charters you easily love and her ability to make you laugh is something I will never tire of or get enough of. I can't wait for the next book, I know all the questions I have will be answered and the waiting is killing me already.
I'm often asked about the best reading order for my books related to the Damaged series. My website has the series order. Of course, I attempt to write each book to stand on its own. ***The Little Memphis MC and Rawlings Heretics MC series along with my standalones romances are unconnected to the Damaged world.
Sissy Mullen's has been told her whole life how dumb she is. She was a source of abuse at the hands of her father and now that she has a fresh start in Conroe, she is trying to do right by her children. The only problem is Sissy has problems saying what she truly wants which is why the man she is in love with, Nathan "Butch" Davies is a bit befuddled why she agreed to go out with his brother Bubba.
Butch knew that Sissy was the woman for him and when he realizes that Sissy doesn't like Bubba in a adating way he makes his move. Not everyone is happy thought that Butch has found his woman, but everything is not always as it seems and Butch knows the truth about Sissy. He plans to be there by her side regardless of what anyone else thinks. Will Sissy be strong enough to be by his?
I liked this, was curious about Sissy when she was introduced. A lot of growth for her in this book and I thought Butch was excellent. Butch is the quiet Davies kid, the observer who keeps to himself and only with Sissy can he find that peace that he needs. Great book.
Like every book, this book will definitely not be for everyone, however it was perfect for me!! I loved it, just as I love pretty much all of this author’s previous books!!
I received a copy of this story from the author for a honest review
I love, love, love Sissy and Butch. I was so excited to read Sissy's book I kept wondering who would be perfect for her, and for the life of me I just couldn't imagine. Well that turns out to be a good thing, because I absolutely loved Butch for Sissy, these two just work so well together and I just don't think I could have created anyone as good as Butch. So we are back in Conroe where Lily and Dash moved to and where Sissy followed along. Butch is one of Bailey and Nick's boys. I'm having so much fun in Conroe and I'm loving Butch for being so wonderful to Sissy and her kids. I was loving their story so much, i just kept reading it in short bits because I didn't want it to end. So as you might have guessed this is my new favorite Bijou Hunter story and I was so sad it had to end. Next up? Bubba and Soso? Where does she come up with these names. So as always if you want to walk away smiling and feeling good, definitely read this book.
I love everything Bijou Hunter Writes , this was no different, Sissy she might be a nervey & definitely gets easily spooked & knowing things doesn't come easily to her but that's to be expected when you've grown you in a abusive family , but she is so god dam sweet & so is her two Children .Butch is Baily Johannsen & Nicks middle child he himself is a bit quirky he doesn't like many people perfect to be Enforcer .. & perfect for Sissy ... its Funny , you feel like crying at moments, but the one liners & banter is at its greatest ... for me Bijou is a go to Book Read .. <3 it . :-)
First book by this author and I did enjoy it but I also didn't. Mostly this is just reading the main characters thoughts, which are very self deprecating and repetitive. I did like the characters, Sissy and Butch are nice. I thought Sissy's story was so sad. How her dad beat her, making her feel stupid and tormented her children. The scene with Hart wetting himself and the flash back it caused, his guilt over his mom getting hurt, even though it wasn't is fault, oh my heart it was so heartbreaking.
That's why I gave this book 3 stars because of the characters and the family feel of the book. Like Sissy and Butch with the kids and Butch's mom chasing Buzz and Denny out of the kitchen etc and her protecting Sissy etc. I'm really glad Sissy and her kids got their happy ending with Butch and his family. But it is slow and Butch and Sissy are very similar to each other as characters. Not only with their issues like not being able to talk to people etc, but also because the wording of the writing in their inner thoughts is the same.
There's no inference or language change to distinguish them as characters, even one of the other female characters, I can't remember her name but she's only visiting her pregnant sister, is very similar to Sissy, making this a very monotone read. There are a few mundane scenes and the two sex scenes are quick, lacking detail and more awkward than anything. The MC action happens in the last 10% and it's only a few minutes worth of reading before the epilogue.
I hated how the author constantly refers to Sissy as 'The Dummy' and Butch as 'The Mute', in the chapter headings, it's so derogatory and offensive. Why not just use their names!? Overall I did like the characters but need more in a biker book and a faster pace. So while there are some really heartbreaking scenes and some really sweet scenes and I would recommend reading this, I'm not sure I'll read another book by this author.

I'm warming up to the Conroe people right now, because it's hard to leave Ellsberg behind. I never thought Sissy was getting a book but I love how well Bijou Hunter writes dialog between adults and children. Her points of views are realistic when writing for Sissy and Butch on how to treat children and their anxieties of school pressure, adult pressure, etc. Even Cheryl's passive aggressive behaviour was subtle but we'll done. I am gonna have to go backwards and give Bailey's story a try.
This one was a strange start for me, starting with hearing the inner voice of the female main character, Sissy. She was abused horribly, has 2 small children with trauma issues and the age differences were never clearly explained (how old she was, age when she was pregnant, how old her younger man was). I enjoyed the inner dialogue of Butch, he was pretty hot, and I enjoyed the humor between all the characters once the main couple decided to be a couple, but it took a while to get there. It was so sad, frankly, and I am glad she got her hea.
Do you ever get that excited flutter in your stomach when you receive something that you have been anticipating for ages? That is what I felt when Don't Do Me Wrong fell into my hands. I have been not-so-patiently waiting for Sissy to get her HEA since we first met the poor unfortunate girl. And Nathan 'Butch' Davies is just perfect for her. *Happy Dance* Although Sissy throws a little roadblock in the mix to begin with, Butch and Sissy eventually find their way to each other. And it is just amazeballs. I laughed. I cried. I danced in my chair. Butch was so great with Sissy. Always supportive and not down on her in any way. Even when things she did were not the best decisions in the world. And the way he is with Sissy's babies?? It makes the heart pitter-patter. They were 'his' babies too. No ifs, ands or buts. He even stood up to his mom about this issue. It was fantastic! Another absolutely phenomenal read from Bijou Hunter. And Butch's mom??? Bailey Johansson? I am totally in love with this second generation because we get to see even more of the first generation - stories that I love and reread all the time. They are just that good. I can't wait for Bubba's story. Hooking up with a Rutgers? Should be fun!
This is book one in the Reaper's MC: Conroe Chapter series, and it is Butch and Sissy's story.
As i begin this review, I should inform you that I am a huge fan of MC series. I read everyone that I can find! With that said, I will tell you that you really can't call yourself a fan of this genre until you have read Bijou Hunter. I swear, she is the BEST!
We first met Sissy back in My Perfect Drug, and let me tell you, if anyone deserves to be loved and cherished, it is her. However, due to her past, she has her quirks and issues, so I knew it would take a special man to fill that role, and Butch is that man! They each have their issues, but when they come together, it is magic! Is their story your typical boy meets girl? Of course not, but that is what makes their story so compelling.
As I stated earlier, Bijou is simply the best! I love how she integrates humor into every story that she writes. I always find myself laughing out loud at her crazy characters! If you haven't yet discovered her "awesomeness", you are really missing out! My suggestion? One click them all! I promise you will be so glad you did!
Sissy Mullens has always been looked down upon. Beaten and neglected by her evil parents, she has spent too long being taken advantage of. She thinks nobody values her, except for her best friend Lily Johansson. She imagines herself a bad mother, because fear dictates her life. But Sissy has a secret yearning for Lily's cousin Nathan 'Butch' Davies. If only he would show interest. Butch, lives in his brother's shadow. He finds most people and places difficult to tolerate. Butch has a secret, he is in love with Sissy Mullens. Lily and Butch are destined to be together. Their so called deficiencies are counterbalanced by their strengths. Sissy knows how to find joy in simplicity. Butch knows how to protect. Together, they are truly a force for good in an ugly, ugly world.
As always, I love the way Bijou writes a love story for people who get overlooked or ridiculed. She always brings the message that everyone deserves someone to love. There aren't billionaires or glamorous locations. These characters skirt the law, but at their core are good people.
New series and new set of second Generation kids finding their kick ass ladies.
Butch is young but he knows what he wants in life, Sissy is all he sees and being his clubs enforcer is what he knows. Cracking heads is his favourite pastime but he’s decided he’s ready for more. Problem is he hates talking or even being around anyone who isn’t in his inner circle, I mean his mother is Bailey Jo-f***ing-hannson e knows his place in the world.
Sissy has had a terrible life, I mean really terrible I didn’t think she’d get a story as she’s been beaten down since birth. But she’s making a good go of her new life in Conroe with her two small kids life is good. Until the past comes looking for her again.
I really liked both Butch and Sissy they really were likeable I liked that they both had issues and just connected with each other. I can honestly say I can not wait for the next kid to get their forever.
I was also gifted an ARC for an honest opinion. Love Bijou so much as an author she really is one of my all time favourites.
Amazing storytelling that brings together two rather unconventional people. We all know and love Sissy from My Perfect Drug. She has been through the ringer by her horrible father and suffers from physical, emotional and psychological abuse from her father. She’s also such a sweet and loving person, dedicated to her children, but she makes some truly terrible and stupid decisions in her life. Her relationships with men are trouble. Enter Butch - the younger man who sees in Sissy his perfect mate. Even if he doesn’t know how to go about it. He has his own issues, strong, silent, doesn’t like people, but the two of them together are perfect. I knew Butch would keep Sissy and her kids safe and loved. There’s some serious drama in this book and it kept me hooked the whole time. The author takes on such big, serious and dark issues with a light and humorous touch without being condescending or flippant- it’s amazingly well done. Highly highly recommend.
I received an ARC for an honest review from my favorite author.
wow again she pulls it out of the bag.
I have read all Bijou Hunter books she has a quirky way of writing that sucks you in from chapter one. Her characters are so unique they are the underdogs but she is an advocate for them and the message I get it they all deserve to be happy no matter what they have gone through.
I loved reading about the other characters who in their own are a brilliant addition to the story making it even more special I suggest you read the previous books but you can read it as a standalone.
It was great to read Sissy come out of the broken shell and with Butch as her alpha male protector by her side you could see that he would move heaven and earth just to see her smile.
I loved Sissy and Butch's novel. I loved catching up with characters from the previous novels. This novel grabbed me from the very first page and did not let go until the very last. I loved both characters, both had imperfections but together they were perfect. LOVED it! I loved the dialogue and the banter was the absolute best. I love when a novel can make you laugh out loud in public and leave you with a smile on your face and feeling happy. This novel did all of those things for me I loved it!
OMG! I absolutely love this series! And the fact that we are reading the 3rd gen damaged! Um freaking believable! I have to say this is the longest running series I've ever read, and can't wait to read them FOREVER! They are all keepers! I've laughed, cried and raged with this family! Thank you Bijou Hunter for giving us this amazing world to escape to!
Not bad, but not my favourite by this author. As usual, the characters find happiness in the most mundane of things and very simple lives. I enjoyed the second half of the book. From another author, I might not have continued after the first few chapters, but I like how the different families are interwoven from one book to the next.
I'm not pleased with it. And I hope that with different characters she'll get a better voice. I like M. J. better than Sissy but, the voices are remarkably similar. The actions in this book seem like an epilogue from a previous book. And the forward action in an overarching storyline is minimal.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy this story cause the characters talked dumb or not at all, or too much lol. But as I read more I found they weren’t as dumb or silent as they thought. Love how the Johansson family come together and look out for each other even when give each other shit. There’s humour in this story too.
We are now with the club in Conroe and meet back with Sissy. She's been hurt but starting over with her brother in Conroe and meets Bubba and Butch. . Butch loves her and the two are great with each other. In this newest book.
Again I am so in love with these characters Bijou’s writing is one of my most favorites the banter between them is amazing hysterical. I never want these to end lol we can just continue on with the kids and grandkids .......
I love Bijou Hunter and she definitely delivered with this one! I felt so sorry for Sissy and Butch. I am glad they finally got their communication skills together and worked it out! I love the family dynamic it always makes me laugh! Can’t wait for the next one!
I was so thrilled that Sissy Mullen finally found her happy ending and a well deserved one at that. I love all of Bijou Hunter's books about the Reapers MC and their evolution thru the small Kentucky towns.
The book and storyline were overalls great. The characters have great chemistry and are likable. The only reason for the 4 stars is some areas lagged for me, but I still recommend this book and author.
As per usual Bijou delivered the goods. It contains the weird situations, humour and sweet that you can expect from a book from her. I loved all the pop ups from past characters and I am off to read the next in the series.
I guess this book was a spin off series and I didn’t realize. You would get much more out of it if you’d read the original first. I was confused a little because I didn’t know the back story. That being said it’s a good story and I’m going to read the original series now!
