Incredible, indispensable resource for the jeweler and those in the craft of lapidary. Details a plethora of techniques and even some techniques that you can combine to form a unique and wonderful specimen of art. Gives rare insight into historical methods of jewelry making and methods from around the world as well. A treasure trove of knowledge on the methods of cutting, polishing, and various ways of heightening your skills as a lapidary and a jeweler. The newest edition of this book is highly recommended.

Very comprehensive book on mostly metal-working techniques used in jewelry-making. Lots of photographs and bite-size how-tos. Many photographs would greatly benefit from better lighting. As this is an "encyclopedia," to get a deeper understanding one needs to refer to other books, so don't expect more than an overview on any one particular technique. The author assumes some knowledge of jewelry making. Interesting, though dated, gallery of work in the back of the book.
