Was ist gruselig? Auf dem Planeten Galabrazolus lebt der Junge Gobo. Er liebt Geschichten von fernen Planten und eine Geschichte mag er ganz besonders. Sein Grossvater hat ihm von einem blauen Planeten erzählt, auf dem fellose Monster mit zwei Augen und zwei Armen leben. Echt gruselig! Gobo nimmt sich vor, mit dem Raumschiff, das er an seinem Geburtstag erhalten hat, ein Erdmonster zu fangen. Wie Gobo das macht und was er mit dem Monster erlebt, kann aus den wunderbar detailliert gemalten Bildern gelesen werden. Jungen und Mädchen werden sie mit Faszination anschauen und erleben, dass es in dieser Geschichte nicht so einfach ist, zu sagen, wer das Monster ist. Ausgerechnet ein liebes Mädchen, das gern mit Puppen spielt, soll das Erdmonster sein? Wie die beiden verschiedenen Wesen sich verständigen und was auf der Reise zum Planeten mit den wunderbar silbernen Bergen und Meeren passiert, das darf sich jeder zuerst selber ausdenken. Ein Bilderbuch, das sich gut eignet, um gemeinsam mit Kindern über fremde Welten zu fantasieren und zu diskutieren. Ab 4 Jahren, ****, Gabi Lötscher.

Cornelia Funke is a multiple award-winning German illustrator and storyteller, who writes fantasy for all ages of readers. Amongst her best known books is the Inkheart trilogy. For her birthday, Zaleb receives a small spaceship. She is thrilled that she will now be able to leave her home planet of Balbaz and visit planet Earth to see the strange monsters that live there. She is hopeful that she will find one that is suitable to bring back as a pet but having an Earth monster as a pet isn’t quite how Zaleb imagined it would be. In fact, it is much, much better…

A delightful space adventure that flips the idea of humans visiting other planets in search of alien life as Zaleb visits planet Earth. The chapters are short, there are plenty of illustrations produced using a limited colour palette of green, black, grey and cream and there are delightful extras in the form of a spot the difference (inside the front cover) and a space-themed maze (inside the back cover).

Das war endlich eine Sammlung von kurze Geschichten, die nicht alle von Funke geschrieben wurde. Die erste zwei Geschichten hat mir gefallen; nachdem war ich nicht beeindruckt und habe eigentlich die letze zwei Geschichten nicht angehört.

Pretty average book for young people about monsters and humans becoming friends etc all the typical things you would expect to see but won't recall tomorrow to something else comes along that reminds you of what you already read earlier, and so it goes.

There's also a dragon in this story which I was not expecting, but that was cool sort of typical of Funke!
