Lost. Stolen. Forgotten… until the Alphabits step in.
A Team A.L.P.H.A. spinoff series.
Six years ago, Lance Lancaster (no, his parents hadn’t hated him—they were just that snooty) lost the only member of his family who cared about him—his six-year old autistic half-brother, Spencer Maximillian. He’s certain the anti-shifter group protesting outside of Spencer’s school is to blame, but no one has made any progress on the case, and he’s certain everyone has given up.
Until Oswald “Ozzy” Ryder and the Alphabits pick up the cold case. Ozzy swaggered into the Maximillian mansion expecting business as usual. He didn’t expect to find a handful of adorably too-big eared fennec fox with a scent that screamed mate!
With Lance’s obsessive data collection and the Alphabits’ know-how, Lance begins to feel hope he might see his brother again. But things aren’t what they appeared, and it takes the insight of a new team member to put the team on the right track… and hope they’re not too late.
The Alphabits aren’t vigilantes. These former soldiers and officers of the law have to do things by the book—even when it tears them apart to do so. But once all their ducks are in a row, the bad guys had better beware! You do not want this team of protective alphas on your tail.
This is the fourth in the Alphabits series, and should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and some violence. The team is growing, along with the complexity of their cases. Get ready for another sweet read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. HEA definitely included, intended for 18+ readers only. Seriously, would you expect anything less from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown?
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
The fourth book in Susi Hawke and Crista Crown’s Alphabits series, Chained continues to come up with scenarios to break my heart. Each story of the cold cases of young omegas who need rescuing has been intense, but Spencer’s tale has been the saddest of them all. If you’re sensitive to stories of abducted youths just take care with this series. The authors do a fantastic job of bringing the realism with these stories and just because they’re shifter/mpreg doesn’t discount the feelings the characters evolk.
This entire series is beautifully narrated by John Solo. His gruff, masculine voices for the Alpha characters have been marvelous, but so far I’m loving Ozzy the hardest. This rough, tough Harley riding bad-boy has a marshmallow heart and Mr. Solo captures it just perfectly. Again, his ability to come up with such a wide array of voices, coupled with his emotional performance earns him 5 stars from me.
This is a tremendous series, and I can’t wait to start the next one. I know it will be another wonderful and moving tale from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown to hold me captive from start to finish.
an audiobook copy of Chained (Alphabits #4) was provided to me for the purpose of my review
Super quick read! This is a more a story about loving your siblings as they are, not as we would have them be. Ozzy and Lance are good together, but the dynamic between Spencer and Patton is the real revelation in the story. Good to see someone on the spectrum represented even if not the MC.
I really enjoy this series. We have the story of Spencer who was kidnapped from his school when he was just a little boy. He is also a high functioning autistic little boy who is loved by his older half brother Lance. They are both Fennec Foxes, which are so very cute. When the Alphabits decide to investigate this cold case, Ozzy runs into his fated mate and the sparks fly. I hated Lance’s mother and step father. They were both pieces of worthless excuses of parents. Lance has an inheritance from his bio dad and his step dad is trying to get his hands in because he doesn’t believe an omega is capable of handling things on his own. Spencer is the heir but his parents see him as broken and not worthy of his legacy. When Spencer is found, the reason for his being taken is sickening and what was done to him even more. And as it turns out, there are a group of men with the same ideology as the kidnapper. When Spencer is finally rescued, his parents don’t even bat and eye. Good thing that he has Lance to love and take care of him. We get to see Lance and Ozzy come together as a loving family.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Lance and Ozzy. Man, Lance in shifter form is absolutely adorable. Ozzy met Lance when him and Cyrus were interviewing Lance’s mother and step father about the disappearance of their youngest son and only heir Spencer, who was only 6 years old when he was taken from the private shifter school he attended about 6 years ago. Lance’s parents are completely stuck up and don’t actually care about Spencer as a person but as the only heir to their family fortune that’s totally another story. Lance tells Ozzy and Cyrus that they shouldn’t believe anything that comes out of their mouths and that they should talk to the people who actually knew Spencer like himself, his old bodyguard and the house staff as they’ll tell you the truth. Man Ozzy and Patton have a strained relationship and I think that Patton just tries to be the opposite of his brother to annoy him and also since they’re constantly referred to as one person. It’s completely heartbreaking what Spencer had been through, which would be hard for any kid to endure but even worse for him since he’s autistic. I loved how Patton found a way to connect to Spencer pretty much straight away but it was hard seeing Ozzy trying so hard to connect to him as well but constantly been ignored even though he knew Spencer can’t help it, you could just feel how much it was weighing on Ozzy. It made the moment that they finally connected that much more beautiful. I’m looking forward to reading Patton’s book as I think he’s going to fall so hard for his mate but knowing Patton he’ll piss off his mate in some way initially. I’m also looking forward to seeing him and Ozzy get closer as they made so much progress in this book but there’s something holding them back to accepting each other as they are. I’d definitely recommend this collection, each book in the series and both authors to everyone.
This 4th book is a stellar additions to the Alphabits series! All our old friends are back, with, Surprise, fated mates. Plus a new addition to the team. The girls have outdone themselves here. There is violence, old "allies", new bad guys to loathe, fennec foxes, spiteful, uncaring parents, brotherly love, and steamy MM sex. And a pregnancy...mpreg you know. Oh, and cake. Did I forget cake? The portrayal of a high functioning autistic boy is very well done, compassionate but not pitying. It shows that autism has many forms, how much strength those with it can display, and that patience is it's own reward. Ozzy never thought his fated mate would literally fall into his lap. Or that he would be a little fennec fox. Lance never thought anyone would reopen the case of his baby brother's disappearance. When the Alphabits do, he doesn't expect to find his fated mate in a sexy alpha wolf. Finding his kidnapped brother, Spencer, who is autistic, is the icing on the cake. That Ozzy loves and will do anything to protect Spencer, further cements Lance's love for his mate. Add Ozzy's twin Patten to the mix and you have a Family. The road to HEA isn't always smooth, but Lance and Ozzy, with help from Spencer and Patten, will smooth the way. I loved this book. I did not want to say good-bye to all my friends. I can't wait for Patten's story to come out. You will love this book as much as I did. I recommend reading the first three books. 1. They're great! and 2. You will gain insight into the characters in this book. That being said, this book does stand alone. This book contains adult themes, violence, language and steamy MM sex. It is intended fro mature 18+ readers.
I haven't even finished reading the book but I'm so disgusted and angry by what the pervert who took him and did to the little autistic Fennec Fox that I had to begin my review early (check back later when I finish the book for the completed review). FINISHED: Those of you who have followed this series from the beginning since the first Team A.L.P.H.A. book have come to realize that many evil people exist even in the shifter world. The degradations heaped on innocent Omegas and children were horrifying. Unfortunately some of these cruel acts have been perpetrated against Human women and children as the many true crime books and TV shows attest to.
Alphabits member Ozzy is determined to find and reunite his Omega Lance with his long missing brother never expecting the condition he'd be discovered in. The perverted group of Alphas who were grooming kidnapped children for years to be their submissive Omegas. They felt Omegas should only have rights given to them by Alphas because of their supremacy.
But the mates of both the Alphabits and Team A.L.P.H.A. were no wilting flowers. It was their Omegas' compassion and strength that made their Alphas more balanced. And if those "Supreme" Alphas had tried to take on Pax from Team A.L.P.H.A. they would have lived to regret it - if Pax allowed any of them to leave alive.
I liked how the authors handled the sensitive issue of being on the Autism Spectrum and I love the adorable Fennec Foxes.
Oooo, I loved this story! While working a cold case, Ozzy meets his fated mate, Lance whose brother was kidnapped eight years previous. Lance is over the moon that not only has he found his mate, he also found people who are going to finally look into his little brother’s disappearance.
Lance’s parents suck and while I would never wish their circumstances on anyone, they didn’t deserve to have Spencer in their lives anyway.
***** POV... multi first person
Standalone or series... book 4 of series but can be read as a standalone
Hangover... yes
Recommend... yes
Reread... yes
***** KU read Ozzy... alpha wolf shifter Lance... omega fox shifter
I loved that this book focused on sibling bonds and family structures. We got to see a lot of personal growth for Ozzy. One of the other things that I really loved about this book was the autism rep! I’m not sure how well it was done, but it felt well researched and realistic...but 🤷♀️. I loved that Lance didn’t treat his baby brother any different then he would anyone else.
The only thing I didn’t like in this book was that Cyrus seemed to have gained a new accent? I don’t know if the authors just let him adopt that whole “aw’ shucks” thing for just this book or if it’s a complete change from the first three books. It just a little frustrating because it took me completely out of the story when it happened.
Overall I really enjoyed this one even if I did get kicked out of the story a bit. This is getting a solid three and a half stars.
I liked this book is was, as always, funny emotional and steamy. Though this book was a little calmer than the first four not a bad thing.
Character breakdown;
Ozzy: would have loved to have gotten more insight into him but he was a cool alpha I wasn't expecting him to feel the way he did about his twin. Was nice to see the vulnerability in him.
Lance: the fact that he was a fennec Fox was adorable. Never seen an omega so sassy but scared at the same time. And the love for his brother was amazing to see.
Spencer: he made me laugh it was adorable how grown up he seemed.
Cannot wait for the next book. I wonder how Patton will find his mate and how that'll go.
This wasn't truly my kind of book and the first mpreg I've read. I read a snippet from it at one time and it made me want to see how it went.
Insta love and fated mate becomes too sweet for me, and though this was every bit that it also had humour which followed through to the end.
Of course Spencer is the one that stands out in this book and the more he opens up the more you like him. His addiction to cake and protective nature is both hilarious and lovely.
This book gave what it had promised, nothing more and nothing less. You get what you would expect from the blurb. A nice read after something intense.
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual content Ozzy and his twin work for Alphabits. When new information cane up on a cold case, Ozzy felt like he had to be in the field. Lance was so tired of the act his pretentious parents put on when people came to talk about his missing brother. It's been eight years since Spencer disappeared, but if these guys are serious about finding him, then Lance needs to talk to them. This group of guys are big, strong alphas, but they are full of heart. These stories have great characters. Things happen quickly, but the book isn't long. The story has all the feels expected of a PNR.
I don't know if these Alphabits books just have lighter conflicts with the bad guys because children are who the Alphabits team are rescuing. Maybe the authors didn't want things to get too dark since it involves kids and it could easily go dark quickly. And I'm not saying what has happened to the kids in these books is no big deal but it just goes from conflict to all better super fast. I didn't get the brother dynamics between Ozzy and Patton. Yeah they are competitive but in earlier books it seemed like they thrived off of it. Now all the sudden it's a stone of contention between them. Lance and Ozzy were both likeable and I did enjoy their story overall.
This is going to be put in your favorite books to reread. Lance is exactly what you would expect as a mate for Ozzy. He can calm him and fill his life with love. Ozzy is the perfect Alpha for Lance. He is loving and protective. Able to understand the emotional stress his little Fennex Fox, as they search for Lance's missing little brother.
A loving family and happy ending can't wait for the next book.
This is the 4th book in the series of Alphabits. This was a twist and turn of a story. You see the complex relationship of brothers and what some will do to make sure to protect their little brother. This is a crazy story of Ozzie and Lance and their journey. With all the pain and suffering that Spencer went through you just want to bundle him up. Cant wait for the next book and hopefully mate for Patton. Highly recommend this book and series
I absolutely loved this book, this is now my favorite book in the series! The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is because I felt like there were a few unanswered questions, like do they end up getting full custody of Spencer? I really hope my unanswered questions will be answered in Patton’s book since his is next and that is the MC’s brother after all and will likely have family insight from his POV.
I really liked Lance and Ozzy but I think Spencer stole my heart. Spenser is just a great character and I really felt for him. There were several emotional scenes that were touching.
I have to say I didn’t expect the kidnapper to be who they were and to be so crazy. It was a nice little twist.
John Solo did a good job. He was clear to understand and the emotional parts were done well.
I really liked this book. This was the first one in the Alphabits series I read, but I enjoyed it as a standalone, too. Loved Lance, this twink fox omega who's so fiercely protective of the people he loves. And Ozzy, our alpha wolf with a complicated relationship with his brother, which seems to be on the mend... The Alphabits get to have excitement working on a case of really weird alphas... John Solo's narration is so expressive that you can't help but love the story!
Another great add to the series. Lance and Ozzy are brought together in a heartbreaking way but working towards a better future they have a chance. Lance and Spencer's are adorable brothers and I love that each of the team members welcome Spencer with open arms. Lance is fierce and sexy which is the perfect match for Ozzy. This story has mate love and brotherly love done right; each of those relationships are deeply important to these guys as they all grow closer. Can't wait for the next.
This wasn't one of my favorites in this series, even though I emotionally connected to Spencer (my own son is in the spectrum). Ozzy and Patton don't really feel real to me - and the epiphany that they had in this book felt awkward.
I did, however, really like Lance and Spencer. They both were so very out of place amid the high society that their parents craved. It was a delight to see them find happiness with Ozzy and the Alphabits family.
Another great book from these ladies. I love that they brought in a character who is on the spectrum and they didn't really pander to stereotypes. They let Spencer be Spencer on his own, and I think it was well done.
I think Ozzy and Lance were really cute together, and can I just say how cute fennec foxes are?
It was not my favorite one. I can’t exactly put my finger on it but it felt rushed to me. I know these aren’t usually long books but it felt like everything happened so quickly. I look forward to Pattons book where I’m sure we’ll see more of these two. Glad the twins are getting closer and it’s sweet that Ozzy get to experience it as well.
What a wonderful way to include autism into this story . These children are often considered slow , stupid , problem children or worse broken in some way . My own son is autistic and he is as smart as a whip with math and computer's . The acceptance and love in this book left enough to go around . Thank you for remembering that no one is truly broken.
Ozzy and the Alphabits team are investigating a cold kidnapping case, when Ozzy comes face to face with Lance, his fated mate. The kidnapped boy is Lance's younger half brother, which makes this case more personal for Ozzy and the team. Follow along as Ozzy's family grows as they solve the case.
