3 hours and 25 minutes

Danger, betrayal, and redemption come together in the sixth installment in T. S. Joyce’s bestselling Saw Bears series.

Riley Miller is on the run. In an effort to do something nice, she lands right in the middle of danger. A trek to the wilderness will put her under Damon Daye’s protection, but it’ll also dump her in the direct path of one sexy, snarly lumberjack werebear, Drew. His interest is stirring up feelings she’s forgotten exist, but she can’t get too attached to him. She has two weeks to spend in the mountains, and after that, she must leave to reclaim her life back in the city. But the Ashe Crew isn’t making it easy on her. Here, she could find the life she’s been looking for if only her demons would stay in her past.

Drew Hudson is losing his mind. Coming off a devastating loss, he’s doing anything he can think of to keep his inner bear from going stark raving mad, including risky stunts that threaten to expose the Ashe Crew as bear shifters. When a chance encounter with a sexy hitchhiker settles his animal side, he can’t help but wonder about all the secrets Riley Miller is keeping. But when her past unravels little by little, he’ll have to take control of his animal in order to protect her.

And if he can allow this selfless, mind-consuming, tough-as-nails human to soften his heart, he just might find himself again.

Content Warning: explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets.

What man isn't turned on by a lady in her last month of pregnancy? Especially when she's pregnant with someone else's child?

Look, I've been pregnant a few times and never felt less sexy than that last month. You are so freaking big that your belly button goes from an innie to an outie. You actually lose weight in the very end because you literally can't eat since the baby is squashing your stomach - along with everything else, especially your bladder.

NOT SEXY!!!

So, we have Drew, the lumberjack werebear that looks like a Nordic god, and Riley, a surrogate mother for the last couple who is running away from her psycho ex-boyfriend who just got out of prison. So, not only is she pregnant, but she's got a killer on her tail. The whole package! Maybe if Drew is lucky, she will let him rub ointment on her pregnancy hemorrhoids. Talk about foreplay! Oh, and she squirts him with breast milk when they have sex and he's fine with it. By this point, if I was her, I would be wondering what the hell is wrong with Drew. He is fine with way too many things. Things that make the best of husbands squirm...

Yeah, he's definitely hiding something...

Riley and Drew are my least favorite couple of the Ashe bears crew. The way they met and how quick everything progressed was too fast and far-fetched even for a shifter story. But my addiction to this author's stories will have me reading the next one right away. I think the short length of these stories helps to keep me moving on.

DREW && RILEY 🐻❤

This book!!! 😫🙌🏼 when I first started this book, I wasn't sure what to expect as we didn't get to know Drew as much as the other guys before their own stories... but that really didn't matter. The storyline was absoloutley perfect!! How Riley was connected to Diem and Bruiser was amazing. My heart hurt for Drew, he was hurting so much until Riley strolled into his life. They helped build each other up. This crew is becoming my obsession ❤

The h is a surrogate, heavily pregnant when she goes on the run from evil OM. The H's animal is almost out of control but the h calms his animal. An angsty couple, also very sweet. She's trying to atone for her actions and he'd been struggling to stay sane. They worked well together.

I liked Riley's character and I liked Drew's character but I didn't love them together. I don't know, their romance seems forced and rushed even by shifter standards. There wasn't enough time to really care for them as individuals and I couldn't feel the connection and passion between them during their sexual scenes like with most of the others. At the end the book left me with a lack luster feeling, even though the Ashe Crew as a whole were as wonderful as ever.

"Drew was more complicated than some smart-talking, stranger-kissing, Adonis."

"She sure was a sassy little thing. And a beautiful distraction"

"You're it for me. My mate, my better half, the part of my soul I thought had gone dark before I met you. You're my light."

Woodsman Werebear

These two main characters have some great dialogue together. I love the idea that she is the surrogate for Diem and Bruiser. The author did a great job of having spicy scenes with a pregnant lady: the MMC was so affirming of her body. I liked how all the crews worked together to trap the bad guy.

Riley is on the run to the one place where she believes she’ll be safe, at least for a little while. As the surrogate for Diem and Bruiser Keller, Riley was only weeks from her due date. When her totally crazy, abusive ex-boyfriend showed up on her doorstep – even after she’d testified against him and he went to prison – claiming the child she carried as his, she knew that she had to run fast to the people who could offer protection… the baby’s true parents.

Drew is in trouble and he knows it. He and his bear are so close to being completely out of control that the fear of his Alpha putting him down is very real in the back of his mind. Yes, he recently lost his mother to death’s cold hands, and that had torn him apart. But when he became a danger to himself and others something would have to be done. He never would have believed that picking up a hitchhiker by the side of the road would change his life forever. Until he realized that the bedraggled female was his mate.

Riley and Drew’s story is so touching on so many levels. Riley is a woman who fought to become a surrogate in order to give back something she felt she had taken. She cannot help but see the love that Diem and Bruiser have for their unborn daughter, but sadly she does too and she knows that to look at that sweet face would kill her. Sacrifice rarely comes without pain.

Drew knows that Riley is it for him. She not only soothes his bear, but she gets him as well. He needs to find the way to get her to stay once his friends’ baby is born. The Ashe Crew has already accepted her as one of their own – now Riley has to make her choice and discover a way to remain with Drew without being torn apart seeing Harper every single day. There is a way, she simply has to be brave enough to take on the challenge – love is strong but is she willing to take that chance.

Love Shifter Romance? Then Woodsman Werebear and this entire connecting group of series is perfect for you.

I really loved this story of a werebear and a human woman who are both going through a lot, but find each other. It might be the best of the Saw Bears books, but that's hard to say--I've loved them all.
The heroine is in a really unique position, being a surrogate mother carrying a baby that turns out to have a very unusual background. She is being chased by an ex who turned out to be a murderer, but somehow got parole.
She meets Drew, a werebear, who is having trouble controlling his bear because of grief. It is a really unique situation, but the way it was written made me really feel for both of them and their difficulties.
It is a very romantic story with great characters.

Woodsman Werebear by T.S Joyce was a quick amazing read.

Riley is seeking redemption from something she witnessed in the past. So she answers the letter of Diem about being a surrogate. Only weeks away from her due date, she finds herself on the run from her ex who just got out of jail. So she finds herself hitchhiking her way thru the mountains and runs into Drew. Their connection is instantaneous.

But what happens when she gives birth and can't bear to be near the baby she has grown to love?

Turns out the 1st go through with this series, I skipped most of the Saw Bears books and for that I am annoyed with myself. It definitely cleared up my confusion once I started thinking about the family trees for all the characters. Said it before and I'll say it again if didn't start reading in the intended order, go back and do so. Also gonna re-read the Graybacks aside from Kong cuz of the sadness but then I go on with my to-read list.

This book is a mixed bag, somethings were pretty good, some were crappy.

Riley, the main female character gets started with a BANG! in the book. Tough, decided, strong and resilient. I really liked Riley, understood and supported most of her decisions and those I didn't support, didn't take away from my enjoyment of her side of the story. I did see some growth, particularly by the end of the book whatever strength she had was better based and greater for what she'd been through.

Drew started a lackluster. Because he had been presented in previous books if felt out of nowhere the psychological issues he had, like how come none of that showed before? Or was mentioned? It seems as if with each book each male character tries to find a "reason" to be a terrible future mate and be suffering from some kind of trauma, cheating previous books and characters out of their emotional importance. Also, why is the Drew from the cover short haired with even a buzz cut at the sides when the description of him in the book has shoulder-length hair? I would understand if at some point he cut it but he doesn't so... what gives?

There were some things about the story that took me instantly away from it, like the mention of Brook's story, it felt manipulative and out of place, or the fact that her paintings are still strewn about 1010, I mean... nobody cleans that place or is it on purpose? Cause that would be creepy. The changes in tone as well, are too fast, too often, characters get scared, then happy, then worried, then scared, then horny, then worried, then happy, then excited, then happy then scared shitless then calm then sad then horny then desperately horny... it's hard to follow the story, immerse in it if you don't really believe what's happening, how the characters feel or understand the tone of the story.

About the resolution for a plot point I was a little disappointed. It bothered me that's so cliché the "I gotta do _______ to prove _____ I am ______", as if putting yourself in unnecessary danger is the only way to show self growth. Then there's a decision to do something that I believe provokes something else and the later could've been avoided if the first was cancelled out of "common sense". Since TS Joyce often describes her shifters as "hillbillies" it makes me feel uncomfortable with judging their common sense, but it takes away from the enjoyment of reading. Then sadly, Drew's problems or emotional conflicts feel so unimportant, because they hadn't been mentioned in previous books, didn't get a proper resolution and were ignored most of the book. And again some word choices are pathetic... I mean "flip over like a pancake"? talk about killing the mood in the middle of a sex scene.

Oh well... this book was good in some parts, really good, and pretty bad on others, I'd give it a 2.5 if the option existed, but alas... 3 stars will be. Read if you want to, you might like it.

I really loved it ❣️

I really loved it❣️
But I needed more .
Everything just flowed by too fast.
On one hand I would have loved this to have been more of a “medium burn” at the very least. But Riley and Drew just felt soo natural together. Some couples may fall together so easily and quickly it ends up feeling false or wrong some how.
But not here .
⚠️ possible spoilers ⚠️
These two right the moment they said,”Hello.” To each other.
But it was just too short Riley had only been there about 24 hours when her and Drew seeming to be falling in love.
Another day and night together and they’ve shared their most painful secrets .
They go off and spend an amazing day and most of a night out w/the crew in the gorgeous out doors and the baby is coming.
Then it’s like she’s barely popped baby Harper out and she’s “cleared “ to leave.
Seriously ?
WTH ??!?!?!
It was like our pops the baby, she’s cleaned up and dressed and running off to the car to go.
Again
Seriously ?
And
WTFH?!?!?
I’m getting really, really sick of being told how F’ing amazing these women are and yet they act in incredibly stupid ways that don’t make sense.
Why ?!?!!
I just don’t get it. Like soo many tell her,Riley flows into these ppl’s lives easier an faster that a rain storm in a drought .
She fits in w/them easier than the right piece in the right place in a jigsaw. But at the same time there’s this weird BS disconnect between the MC’s and what’s being said .
It’s like the weight of their words to each other carry the weight of the world and yet are absolutely meaningless and carry less weight than a single feather all at the same time.
One minute he or she ( mainly she) are getting their feelings hurt because their relationship isn’t some sorta love at first sight/ let ( the one being asked questions) just bear my soul to you and confess my undying love to you . And the next after the one has the other ,the female, acting like being called his mate and being told their committed to them and their Wild our control finally “settles “ for them ,they act like it’s no big deal and or insecure and plan to walk away.
Honestly, What,. The. Hell?
Drew is calling her his mate that very night she arrives,he out or control bear finally calms . For. Her!
He’s bearing his soul to her. Tells her he loves her. Very one adores her and she’s happy than she’s ever been but she’s just gonna walk away ?
Why ?
As painful as giving up the child is,with all that happens it doesn’t make any sense.
You never see her even try to discuss the future w/Diem and Bruiser, I thought they’d be a bigger part of the story.
I love it ❣️ full stop. But Riley wanting to cowardly run after all was said and done didn’t make a lick of sense and really hurt the story for me .
She opened herself up to soo much ,her willingness to be soo blind was just plain dumb.
Running was weak not strong and not in line w/the person you had me loving so hard.

What Is It About:
Riley is a surrogate that is running from her murdering ex-boyfriend that she helped put in prison. She runs to the only place she can think of: the family of the baby she is carrying. On the way, she runs into Drew and there's an instant connection but a miscommunication ends with him thinking that she's Damon Daye's new mate. But when they're thrust together, they have to deal with their feelings for each other and the fact that Riley doesn't want to be around the child when she's born.

What I Liked and Didn't:
I quite liked Riley as a character. Her idea for redemption as a surrogate is a pretty unique and selfless way that shows what kind of character she is. But I can't help but judge her a little bit for long it took her to turn on her ex-boyfriend, she may not judge herself too much for it but I certainly do. Drew was an alright character, considering how many large characters there are in the Ashe Crew, he kind of faded into the background so it was interesting to have him as the main character. He had quite a few demons that were kind of glossed over in previous books.
Plot-wise, I will admit that it was pretty non-existent. The ex-boyfriend aspect was involved in the book twice more so it was resolved ridiculously easy. Even the fact that Riley didn't want to be around after the baby was born was fixed quickly. There was no suspense or anticipation; a problem was created and then fixed almost instantly.

Final Thoughts:
Do you ever have a part of a book that just sticks in your mind, good or bad, big or small? In this book, it was a small, gross thing. During Drew's foreplay, Riley starts to produce milk. He likes it and just keeps carrying on. I suppose I might think differently if I were a mother, but ew.
Would I recommend it? The whole series is pretty enjoyable and it's a nice read, so sure.
Will I be carrying on the series? Definitely.

Treasure!!!

Riley Miller had been involved with a bad man by the name of Seamus Teague, she testified against him which landed him in prison......She had a little one to think about so when Seanus came knocking after he was released, she did the only thing she could to protect the baby.....she ran.

Riley was about to meet the biological parents of her bundle of joy, Diem and Bruiser Keller what she didn't expect was to meet the love of her life on her way there in the form of Drew Hudson.

Drew lost his mother but he and his bear were not handling things well and that had Tagan, Haydan and the rest of the Ashe Crew very worried about him......He wasn't sharing his pain with them.

The only person Drew was able to share his pain with was Riley, she kept him and his bear grounded.....It was a delight to see two tormented souls finding solace in each other.

Woodsman Werebear had my emotions off the charts, Diem and Bruiser got their bundle of joy without Diem losing her life thanks to Riley's generosity.

I'm looking forward to Haydan's story and once again Damon Daye made an impression on many of us.....it was great to get a mention of the Kellers and the Breck Crew.

T. S. Joyce never cease to amaze me with her brilliance......Another must read novel.

This is the sixth book in this series and they should be read in order. Riley Miller is on the run but at least she has somewhere to run. Her ex is after her and she fears what will happen if he finds her. She doesn’t just have herself to protect anymore. Drew hasn’t been himself since his mother died two month ago. While on her way to Damon Daye Riley runs into Drew on the side of the road. Something about her calms his bear. But he can’t get attached she isn’t his. He is frustrated when he learns she is on her way to Damon Daye. But there is more to the story than he knows. Riley intrigues Drew and he wants to learn all he secrets and what she is running from. Riley can’t get attached to Drew or the Ashe crew she only has two weeks with them before she must go sort out her own life. The Ashe crew isn’t going to make it easy for her to just leave. Drew and Riley may just prefect for each other if they can find a way to make it work. Drew needs to get control of his bear in order to protect Riley. The characters in this series and fantastic and I can’t get enough of them. I already have the next book ready to read. I highly recommend this book and any book by T.S. Joyce.

Really not my favourite.
The timeline in this book is fast forward and I have no respect for Riley.
Found it ridiculous that Riley and Drew have sex within hours of meeting, in fact minutes really, if you factor in how things happen.
The actual notion of having sex like that when you are that far along in your pregnancy just isn’t correct.
I know Riley was after redemption but I thought her actions reeked of cowardice in not saving that mans life. All she had to do was call the police at anytime, bang on a neighbours door, anything except wait to travel across town first. Yes she testified but too little too late or me.
She gets a HEA whilst a woman and her two daughters get pain and loss due to the death of an innocent man.
Being a surrogate was more for herself redemption than for the couple.
Loved Drew and felt his pain with the loss of his mother
I am playing catch up with the Damon’s Mountain books having read the latest ones.
Funny reading how Harper came into this world when I have read her and Wyatts book.

It's always fun to come back to the Ashe Crew. The Saw Bears series is definitely my favorite of T. S. Joyce's works.

This installment is about Riley, who is a surrogate for Bruiser and Diem's baby. (In the last book, we learn that Diem would likely die in childbirth if she were to conceive.) Riley's violent ex gets released from prison, and to get away from him, she goes to stay with Diem's father, Damon. On her way, she meets Drew, and they are immediately interested in each other.

I enjoyed the story overall. I liked both Riley and Drew, and I think Joyce did a great job, as she usually does, at making their feelings feel real even though they aren't together very long. There isn't anything cringy or cheesy about the romance here. Not many romance authors can pull that off in such a short book.

My only trouble with this one is that it felt really rushed. I think there were just too many other characters coming and going, so the story didn't feel focused on Riley and Drew, which is a shame because they had some of the best banter in the series.

Novella-length bear shifter romance.

This is a simple yet beautiful story. As a fated mate story, the romance moves quickly with little to no angst. The plot balances quiet moments and dramatic events, but never do these overwhelm or underwhelm the story being told between the couple.

Book Specific Info:
Riley is trying to move forward and do a good thing after a past she can't forgive herself for. And now the ex that put her in that situation, is out on parole and won't leave her alone. She is running to people that will hopefully help her while her ex is stalking her. Now miles away from her past, Riley is hitchhiking on country roads when Drew ignores her and promptly gets a flat just up the road. A bit of verbal sparring and Drew is now ready to help Riley move on her journey. Riley gets a whole different level of protection and safety than she is expecting when she meets the Ashe Crew. But is Riley strong it enough to continue this path forward when it might just mean her heartbreak?

Drew as a member of the Ashe Crew really flew under the radar and I felt I didn't have a good grasp of him as an individual from the previous books. But, across the story I felt that I was able to see him as a unique member of the Ashe Crew especially in his relationship with Riley.

Warning: Creepy stalker ex present but no danger comes to our heroine from his hands.

Woodsman Werebear is book 6 in this series which is a series about a group of misfit grizzly bear shifters who have formed a family known as the Ashe Crew. They’re quick and easy to read stories.

This was Riley’s and Drew’s book and it was okay. For some reason, this one felt a lot shorter than the previous books. It felt more impersonal and I felt no connection to the characters whatsoever. It never felt as if I got to know either Drew or Riley. There just wasn’t much to the story. It definitely didn’t feel like it was worth the three dollars it cost.

In every story the characters have fallen in love quickly. Drew’s and Riley’s insta-love was whiplash fast. They meet that morning; about an hour later they see each other again and Drew’s protective instinct causes him to change into his bear; and about fifteen minutes later they were in the shower together before hitting the bed. If I had blinked, I would have missed it.

BABIES!
This is book #6 of #7 in the Saw Bears Series, and book #9 of #48 in the Damon’s Mountains Universe Series. Audio wise you miss books #7 and #8 because they are not available in audio yet. Main thing you miss is the outing and registration of some of the shifter species.

In this book, the Ash Crew band together to go and officially register. This allows for them to now have access to things such as medical care without worrying about discovery. So, now there is less worry for healthy pregnancies, so BABIES! Both natural and artificial, which is what brings Riley to the magical trailer 1010. She is the surrogate for Diem, so possibly carrying a dragonling. There are lots more discoveries to be had, but to say more would spoil the surprise. Be prepared for the feels!

T.S. Joyce and Mackenzie Harte continue to deliver. Only 1 more to go for the Saw Bears.

I listened to this through Audible Escape.

Quite good

This is Drew's story. At the beginning of the book Drew's bear is out of control and has been since his mother died. He is fighting in a ring for money but mostly to allow his bear to have a means of working out his aggression. His alpha orders him not to return to the ring after he finishes his fight and Drew is angry. As he is driving home he passes a hitchhiker and shortly after passing her he blows a tire. The hitchhiker, Riley, says it's karma because he didn't stop to help her. So he takes her to her destination but is oddly attracted to her. Riley is the surrogate mother for Bruiser and his dragon mate. And so begins the addition of two new members to the Ashe crew. This one is a bit of a tearjerker but it does have a happy ending. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone book.

What I really liked about this one was how it connected to the last book and the dream that Bruiser and Diem had.

I felt for Riley and the situation she was in. I was glad that by running to WY she knew she would have a safe place to hide for a bit. Running across Drew at the start was bonus.

I really liked Riley's time at the trailer part, loved that despite how things started she saw the Ash crew as family and how they all welcomed her in. The activities they had as a group was fun for everyone.

I could have done without the drama at the end, but understood why Riley thought she needed to run. I was glad when the whole Ash crew showed up and showed her that didn’t need to happen.

Brilliant

As with all the books before this one I was pulled right into the story and stayed there until I had finished the book. So the while I was watching the story play out i my head just like a mini movie.
There are both big and small surprises in this book, some you may see coming and others you won't, but they all make the book fantastic.
I am absolutely book on this series, not often can I go from one book in a series to the next, but this is one series I am doing that with.
I highly recommend this series and the author to all you shifter fans out there.

I love stories where a bully gets what’s coming to him, one of my favorite lines in any book with abusive ex’s is the fear in their eyes when they know they are getting a taste of their own medicine. So you can imagine I was already rubbing my hands in glee waiting for that part here. TSJ always delivers a brilliant story, I mean she had a bad guy eaten by a dragon in another book and violent thing that I am I cheered...loudly. I loved Riley and Drew has always been my favorite, I especially loved the little glimpse of Mason’s past.
