I came across this non-fiction book whilst on my alternative placement. It’s a great book for all children but is particularly appealing to boys due to the content.
The book has a picture of different environments with various bugs hidden in the pictures. Each picture has around 100 bugs for children to find. Children can learn about the bugs with the key facts that are detailed on each page. Children search in various interesting settings such as cactus city, swamp life, busy beehive, water world and the rain forest. Children learn about the bugs that are native to each environment with puzzles and maps throughout. At the back of the book there is a section displaying the answers.
This non-fiction book is an ideal talking point for bug topics and also links well to geography. I used this book in a mixed year 2, 3, 4 and 5 class of boys. They all enjoyed it and loved learning about the bugs and all became excited when looking for them. It is a great book, that I would definitely recommend.
I was just thinking about this book from childhood and am so happy to find it here. This was the best Christmas present EVER, and I hope I still have my original copy somewhere, if not I will purchase another one for my son to enjoy too.
A very fun seek and find book that divides up different animals based on where they live. Every page has 16 different types of bugs that one must find. But, it also tells cool facts about each of those bugs, too! Grades K through 3rd.
This and the others in the series, is a great book for kids who love I Spy and Where's Waldo? The bonus here is that they learn a little something too!
