You Can Have It All, Just Not at the Same Damn Time

Rate this book
Bestselling author, entrepreneur, speaker, and life and business coach Romi Neustadt has a message for women: You CAN have it all--just not at the same damn time.

Romi Neustadt is a mom of two, a wife, a daughter, bestselling author, speaker, entrepreneur, and coach. What's more, she's achieved these things without a staff of 10, the ability to sleep two hours a night or driving herself batsh*t crazy. She's figured out the key to having it all: Priorities, babe.

In her second book, Romi provides a no-BS blueprint for women to figure out what to focus on and what not to. She explains why saying YES to everything and everyone really means saying NO to the things that matter -- to your goals, your dreams, and your true self.

The key to achieving your wildest dreams isn't to downsize them. It's to embrace them more fully, and discard everything that isn't serving them. This book will teach you how to:

Written in the same down-to-earth, accessible style that made her first book, Get Over Your Damn Self , a beloved bestseller, this book is for every woman who wants to live a fulfilled, authentic life without feeling stressed and exhausted. Romi is living proof that it's possible, and you will be too.

Should be called "You Can Have It All- if You Don't Have to Do It All"

Most of her suggestions revolve around delegating (and paying for this delegation if needed) things you don't want to do or get in the way of your goals. A nice thought but not practical for a number of people. But there were some smaller nuggets of the kind of mentality to employ that are decent takeaways....

Lots of relatable topics in this book and I had high hopes for it. Most of the solutions that Romi had were to hire someone else to do it for you... realistic (eye roll). She hired someone to run her business, clean her house, cook her meals, drive her kids to school, cater to her children. Majority of people don't have the luxury of a disposable income, also I'm sure most Moms want to be there for their children/family and not have someone else raise them.

After an extremely challenging year, this was a great book to kick off a new year with and rejuvenate and refresh. One of my favorite quotes from this book is “you cannot continue to move forward in your life to the level you need to be if you’re surrounded by energy that brings you down, that sucks the life force from you.” And THAT is the energy I need to bring in to 2021. Key takeaways; it’s ok to say no, you can’t please everyone, LOVE yourself. If we fill our lives with people who drain or diminish us, how will we ever have room for the people who will elevate us and those we’re supposed to lift up?

Relate on so many ways. Some points that really got me are:

Know What Your Time is Worth
I got questioned a lot from my close friends on how to specify the respectable rate per hour. Believe me, sometimes even if you already know your worth, it’s still hard to spill the exact number. Thanks to the writer, we get to find the fair rates based on the formula given.

Mark Your Daily Everything!
This is for me one of the essentials on how to have it all in our way. We know how much our day to day (to-do) lists are cluttered, but we can never be sure of which one to postpone and wich one that’s urgent. Cause most of the time, everything seems urgent, don’t they? (We mothers can relate!)

On Developing Habits
Some said that habits are formed when done 21 days in a row, while research suggest it takes a lot longer even 66 days. It’s actually not the “how long it takes” that matters but the ability for us to show up, to do it, and to make progress instead. This applies to all the good habits we want to build (yes, including time management and healthy lifestyle).

On Spending Time with Your Phone
On this book Neustadt refers to Cal Newport’s writing (that I’ve also finished way before this book). How smartphone has been one hell of an assistant we need, that’s valid. But she remind us that it should only be as our assistant, and that assistant works for you, not the other way around (!!!)

Listen to Yourself
Again and again as I found this almost in every self development book I consume, that it’s more important to listen to yourself, than to others. To listen to yourself is a way to love yourself. And if we care too much of what people say, we’ll only end up wondering all the what ifs and lose our time and chances to do what’s right for us.

At the end, it’s all up to us, do we want to have it all (in our time)?

I came across a book that deeply reflects my Mindset Shifting journey. So, I bought it at the @bbwbooks_id bazaar. I was immediately drawn to the title.

As women, we often hear limiting beliefs like, “After you become a wife or a mom, you’ll lose yourself,” or “A woman should be this or that.”

I believe in timing. We can achieve anything, regardless of our gender — just not all at once.

I became a Japanese interpreter, professional writer, and writing mentor in different phases of life. I learned each skill step by step, and eventually, I landed many exciting projects.

Romi Neustadt writes about how she managed her life as a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. When her life felt chaotic, she kept a one-week journal to identify what she could improve or eliminate. I was amazed — that’s similar to the LIFE TRACKING method I’ve practiced for years and now teach in my Mindset Shifting class.

I also love how she dedicated each year of her life to a single theme. It helped her let go of anything that didn’t align with her life’s purpose. For example, when her theme for the year was “Health,” she would only accept opportunities that wouldn’t disrupt her sleep or well-being.

My theme for 2025 is “TEACHING MY WISDOM.” That’s why I’m releasing a new eBook, starting a podcast, and sharing more about Mindset Shifting as a creative writer.

This book is a must-read for women of all ages.
Definitely my favorite read this month!

I LOVED this book!! It honestly changed my life for the better!! I am not a avid reader but to get out of that I joined a book club with some wonderful ladies from my company and this was the first book that we read together. I love the way that the Author wrote the book as it was soo easy to read and relate too!! she is very transparent in her writing and it seems like she is talking directly to the reader!! I had many Aha moments when reading this book. So much so that I am planning on giving it to my close circle of friends for them to read and reap the benefits from as well. I refer back to the book all the time to remind myself of the many important lessons that I gained while reading it. It is a great book for both men and women and millennials to read as well. You won't be disappointed and you will be grateful to have read just like I was. Worth the time and the money!! A Win Win!!!

I LOVED this book! It was so easy to read and every word on every page gave you insight on a clear path to help you to truly live your best life. I love that Romi helps alleviate those feelings of guilt and empowers you to fulfill your dreams by actually getting to know yourself! Once you know who you are and what you are meant to do in this life you can prioritize the things within your 24/7 that fulfill the promise you made to your yourself. There are so many books out there but this book gives you a practical plan that really allows you to have it all and NOT feel guilty about it at all!!

Romi’s book (much like her first Get Over Your Damn Self) is a no-nonsense approach to life in general. She’s so real and doesn’t sugar coat a thing. This book is not just for those of us in direct sales (those who are it’s a MUST READ), but also ALL women who struggle to try to do it all, be a good wife, a good friend, a good mother, etc. The book allows you to break down and find focus in your life in order to start living a life more meaningful, purposeful way to free you up with the things that are most important to you! Read it! You won’t regret it!!

Romaine give some really good advice on how to manage your time and life with scheduling, structure and hiring out work.

Here's where I'm going to nitpick, if I'm hiring out for anything below my dream rate of income I am going to end up on the fucking Street.

And that is not an exaggeration.

The scheduling and making sure that I'm organized is something i already do. There's a lot of good advice in here it's all stuff I've already heard before and do. But if I've heard it all before it must be right ( at least with how many times I've heard it)

Good Lord this was complete trash. I read this after a recommendation and only finished it because it was short and I was being optimistic.

The first 30% of the book tells you to basically be rich enough to pay someone else to do all your shitty jobs, and the next 70% tells you to "live in your truth" 🤢 , "listen to your Heart Voice", "get quiet" and "forgive yourself for making mistakes". What on earth does this have to do with the title of the book??? Not a clue.

Clearly this book was not written for someone like me 🤷‍♀️

DID NOT FINISH.
We stopped at 30 percent. This book isn't something we will be using to help people. It seemed to be advice to help people who are already well off to do well in business.
