Sub Mission #3

Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender

Rate this book
When Landon is offered an assignment to be the bodyguard of a gorgeous young male model, he expects the case to be nothing he wants. He certainly has no interest in following a spoiled, rich young model around Milan, Italy from one catwalk and party to another, and he doubts the threats Jinx has been receiving have any real merit to them. Probably just some teenaged fans stalking their favorite “boy model” and nothing to get worked up about. But when Jinx’s own father says the exact same thing, it makes Landon inexplicably angry and protective over him, because Landon would never allow his own son, Ari, to be threatened by anyone. Only Jinx’s mother and Landon’s agency fear for the young man’s safety, so Landon takes the case despite his qualms and soon realizes Jinx badly needs two things that are up to now missing in his life—a firm hand and some unconditional love—and love not based on how much money he can bring to his family.

Jinx has never met a man like Landon before. The handsome, fearless bodyguard who gives him orders and expects him to do his best to follow them, also awakens a passion in Jinx that no female has ever managed to do before, an undeniable attraction that could match the need that seems to grow stronger every day. But could Jinx actually be falling for another man? Problems between the two abound—Landon is almost twenty years older for one thing, and they come from two vastly different worlds. In order to work it out between them, Jinx has to learn the truth of who’s behind the threats to his life, and discover who his enemies and his allies really are. He has to learn to fight for his happiness even if it means facing a killer.

Loved this one!! Strong demanding bodyguard and a young stunning model, a big brat!!.

It seems Micah, a famous model, is getting threats and needs a bodyguard. Landon will be the man.
With Micah being a brat and Landon being the demanding man they can’t stand each other, fights and strong filthy words flying all over. Only their attraction to each other seems stronger.
Micah isn’t as straight as he thought and Landon introduces him into his gay sex life.

“I was as weak as a kitten but as excited as a puppy”

Age gap of nineteen years, Daddy and baby-boy names, witty and bratty comments from both sides make this read into a fantastic, hot steamy, endearing and very appealing and delicious read. Then there is the dark angsty side and some family drama and yahh we got a story where is also depth. I loved this read very!!

This was fast-paced and sexy May/December GFY romance. Told from both Landon's and Micah/Jinx's POV, we get the glimpse of cutthroat world of fashion and what it takes to stay at the top.

Jinx's life has never been his own. Never given a choice, pitted against both ex-models parents and always lonely, Jinx acts like an arrogant brat. He does not know how to be any different, and his attitude usually gets him what he wants. Nobody sees the real him. He might have come off like a spoiled snob in the beginning but soon I saw him as a scared young man under pressure from his egotistical father. When he meets Landon, his new bodyguard, for the first time Jinx aka Micah wants someone of his own, someone to love him for him and not his money. Even though he has never been with a man, it doesn't deter him from trying to figure out how he feels about Landon.

Landon is a bisexual single father. He is also a bodyguard, and he is good at what he does. But when he lays his eyes on a beautiful young man, he forgets it's just a job. He feels protective, it's lust at first sight. Not that Micah doesn't lead him on a merry chase. But Landon sees glimpses of a vulnerable man in need of love and care. After so many years dedicated to his son Ari, Landon is ready to live his life and love again. His wife's desertion hit him hard but he will not let this possible chance at love slip through his fingers.

Even though their connection was swift to develop, I liked that both men had doubts, they questioned the possibility of a relationship, their own worthiness and the ability to love as each man needed to be loved. I liked how playful they were in bed, and how considerate and patient Landon was. He made sure that Micah knew he was ready to be with a man.

The world of show business is unforgiving, and Micah needed to make decisions and choose the right path for himself. The threat and danger were real, and for a moment I worried that Micah wouldn't survive. It took bravery and will to live and return to Landon to make it out alive. In the end, Landon accepted Ari and Eli's relationship. It was easy since he was in one just like theirs. I loved the epilogue, and it raised questions about why and what happened so many years ago. I am really curious to read the next one. I recommend it! Copy received for my honest and unbiased review.

3.5 stars. This one is my favourite book in the series so far. I really liked both of the mcs. I'm beginning to think this author has a hard time writing "straight" male characters tho. They all seem to come across as very camp. Overall not a bad book x

Sweet Surrender was an entertaining read. I liked Micah (Jinx) even though he came across as a bit bratty, although that was kind of to be expected, given his background- thrust into the spotlight at a very young age, with really no choice in the matter. When Landon enters his life things start to change for the better, he finally feels like he's being seen for who he really is, and not for what he can do for people.

While this is a romantic suspense, I feel like the suspense kind of got pushed to the side for awhile, as things between Micah and Landon heated up. While I did enjoy that aspect of the story- even with the age difference I thought these two were a good match, I would have liked the story to have gone more in-depths with the threats. Once things came to a head everything seemed to happen really quickly.

Although this was presented as a standalone, it really isn't. I definitely think I would have benefitted by having read at least the second book in this series, Sins of Omission, where apparently I would have gotten to know Landon. While I wasn't completely lost, it did feel like I was missing out on some backstory, especially when it came to Landon and Ari.

We're left with a bit of a cliffhanger, when it comes to Micah and Landon's story, and Ari's too. I am invested enough in Micah and Landon that I want to see how things play out.

All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.

It was unexpected and awesome surprise that this one is a daddy kink story.
Micah is a bit of a brat, but it's more of a front for his fear and insecurities than an actual tendency to act up or misbehave.

When Micah's life is threatened, he needs a bodyguard to keep him safe. By day he works as the famous model Jinx, but outside the world of fashion, he can't stand the job.

When Ari's dad, Landon comes on the scene as Micah's hired bodyguard, the guy wants nothing to do with the spoiled rich kid, until Micah's father doesn't seemed concerned about his son's welfare. If Landon's son were being threatened, there's no way he would leave him without a bodyguard, so he feels obligated to stay and protect the spoiled brat.

But will Micah's bratty disposition provide more temptation than Landon initially realized? And could the kid stop running around in his skivvies, and pouting so attractively? Can Landon keep his hands off the client, and keep things professional long enough to save the kid's life?

I really enjoyed this. I think this is my favorite book in the trilogy, which is saying something because I also enjoyed Eli and Ari's story. There's not a lot of heavy kink here, some age difference, daddy kink, and some lighter impact play. Landon and Micah are adorable. You also have a bit of intrigue and thriller going on in the background, along with some really catty models, and Micah, who is absolutely determined to get on Landon's radar.

So you have your bodyguard trope, you have your spoiled rich kid trope, and you've got the thrill and intrigue of the mysterious threats that Jinx keeps receiving. I would definitely recommend this book, especially for anyone who enjoys age differences and bodyguard romances, this is kind of a must-read.

In the prior book, we know Landon was whipped away for bodyguard duties to Jinx, a high profile model who’s receiving threats from an unknown source.

What I didn’t expect, was to fall in love with Jinx (Micah)! Micah longs for a normal life, free to eat what he wants and to pursue any career he wants.

A May-December, GFY romance, this book delves into the ugly side of of the fashion business - anorexia, bulimia and the drugs that help those diseases manifest.

Highly recommended...loved, loved, loved this!

This was one of those books where the narration annoyed me to no end. The dialog was clunky and contrived, the inner monologues where repetitive and cringy and the book was mostly telling with very little showing. There where also a bunch of small inconsistencies that didn't upset the plot but showed the author wasn't really paying attention.
It's insta love with a super short timeline (about 3 days, I believe) and quite a few sex kinky scenes. At least the sex scenes where pretty hot and decently written, so that's something.

The book mostly focuses on the romance until the last third when it explodes in a flurry of contrived misunderstandings, dramatic crime and rescue actions as well as totally unbelievable and unexpected family drama.

“If I lived to be a hundred, I’d never forget the way Micah looked at that moment in time. I’d never wanted anyone so badly in my life—never.”

Jinx (Micah) is one of the hottest and most sought after models hitting the catwalk. With fame comes danger, and after several threatening emails and notes, his mother and godmother feel that he is in need of a full time security team and body guard. His father is against it from the start, which makes Jinx all the more in favor, especially when he sees the agent that will be assigned to him, and begins to have feelings never thought possible.

Landon can’t believe he’s stuck babysitting a kid almost half his age. Since his assignment is a rich pretty boy, Landon assumes Jinx will be a spoiled brat. But looks are deceiving, and Landon soon discovers that Jinx’s true beauty lies within.

Landon and Micah’s (Jinx) relationship quickly escalates to something stronger…could it be love? Sometimes love has a way of blinding one of dangers lurking closer than imagined, and with Landon and Micah, the consequences could prove deadly.

TS McKinney has weaved a story full of everything this reader could possibly want! Unexpected Mission is a May/December M/M GFY romance with a touch of mystery and suspense. Absolutely loved and didn’t want it to end! Highly recommend!

Touched by an angel

"He was an angel and I was Lucifer." So much to take in, however, it was a good read. Adventure, travel, a kidnapping, and even falling in love. 4 stars for creativity and I look forward to catching up with the other stories in the series, especially Eli's and Ari's.

What I liked most about Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender, was Landon's whole open concept. He was a single father who was living a life he had to when his wife left him and his newborn son. Over the years, it was just him and his son, and the job he took on. Which is why taking on model Jinx, "he likes to be called Micah. Jinx is his trade name," as a bodyguard was going against everything. Both were highly attracted to the other, but Landon was doing his best not to cross the line, especially when the threats against Micah becomes even more dangerous. I don't do spoilers, so read to see what happens.

I would say yes to this book and since I will be taking on the other books, yes to this series.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author through LesCourt.

Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender is the third book of Sub Mission series. I didn't read the two previous book, so I needed to adjust with Eli and Ari from the earlier book.
This is a May - December and Daddy kink, with a little BDSM in the picture.
There were insta-lust, overprotective bodyguard (of course, duh!).
I enjoyed this story though I had to adjusted with the writing style and some spoiler from the previous book. Micah and Landon hit it off soon after one day Micah did some stupid thing.
A brat needed a strong hand after all.
I liked this one, I'll probably need to read the two books earlier soon!

Bodyguard Land on is tasked with protecting Jinx (Micah) one of the world's most sought after models.
An instant attraction is felt by both of them.
The many faces of Jinx kept their lives interesting, the chemistry between them was intense.
So many reasons why these two men shouldn't work together but they are perfect for each other.
Great characters, the story flowed well. I really enjoyed it. Both men deserve their hea with each other. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Review in English and Polish || Recenzja po angielsku i polsku

Landon Honeycutt is an experienced bodyguard assigned to ensure the safety of his boss's godson, a young model Micah "Jinx" Gentry, who receives threatening letters for some time. The problem is that the boy gets in the man's hair from the very beginning. What's more, it's hard for Landon to stay professional when his whole body begs for Micah, and the fact that the boy seems to be equally interested in him doesn't help him control his urges. Is it even wise to mix professional and private life?

The first thing I would like to write about reviewing "Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender", the third volume of "Sub Mission" series by T.S. McKinney, is obviously the age gap between the main characters, as in this case we are dealing with May/December novel. I really like the fact that although Landon and Micah are perfectly aware of the fact that they could successfully be father and son, they are not really worried about it. Sure, they sometimes think about their age gap, but what's most important is their mutual attraction and, over time, also their deep feelings. But that's not all! Landon is not afraid to talk about his relationship with the boy much younger than him to other people, what's even more impressive, to members of his young partner's family. But the icing on the cake are the reactions of the aforementioned family. I admit, I didn't expect this kind of the characters' approach to the May/December relationship, which is the thing I like even more in the novel.

Another topic that I would like to mention is Daddy kink, and D/s which is related to it. I must admit that in "Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender" almost everything speaks in favor of these motifs, which is a huge advantage. The more so because the reader really feels and fully understands Landon's and Jinx's interest in this kind of relationship and theirs need for it to go in this direction. To be honest, it seems to be something so obvious and natural in their case that it is simply an integral part of the creation of these characters. So I think that introducing elements of Daddy kink and D/s to this novel was a great choice, and what's more, they were perfectly shown from the perspective of the characters' inner, and in a sense psychological, need.

As for the characters themselves, it's hard for me to judge their uniqueness. On the one hand, they don't offer us anything particularly new, and they aren't really so different from others. And yet in their creation there is something special, interesting and valuable. Micah is the best example, as he tries to be a tough, indifferent young man, who carries out his duties. And yet, he's uncertain, angry, in need of affection, love. Beneath the surface of a stereotypical male model hides someone completely different, someone with whom Landon falls in love. And what's hidden beneath appearances is what makes the characters unique and easy to like, though they don't make us go weak at the knees.

I admit that in "Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender" there is something that really surprised me. Namely, the fact that so much emphasis has been placed on pure luck. This is undoubtedly a very simple and real-life solution to everything, but at the same time it's a frightening one, because showing it in the novel makes the reader realize how huge the gap between fiction and reality is. The truth is that usually in difficult situations people are on their own, they need to be strong because they can't count on some hero to appear, and most importantly, they need lots of luck. And that is this really positive surprise in this book. The more so because the meaning of luck is shown in such a straightforward manner that the readers can't simply say "I knew it!", as they are so impressed that it is hard for them to do so.

In conclusion, "Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender" is a pretty good book that even the readers who don't know what happened in the previous parts can fully enjoy. The novel is really well written, contains elements presented in such a good way that we are easily enchanted, and what's more, it's very interesting. Well, I'm totally fired up to read other volumes of the series and I believe that if you give this book a chance, you also will be motivated to read other installments of "Sub Mission".

You know it's bad for you, you know it has little nutritional value, you still reach right in and eat it all.

Well, maybe except for skipping a few paragraphs or pages where it was just too much.

This was one of those insta-romances... people obviously still write them. I wanted to put it down but... I don't like unhappy characters, so I waited until they were happy and it turned out to be waiting till the end.

Also, it's dirty.

But some books live in a different reality - I know, I know, every fiction is "unreal" but there are some that are just pure La La Land and in these books, crazy and weird things happen and you don't mind because those are the rules you play by when you agree to read those books.

So I did not mind he was twice his age or how absurd was their love or how absurd was the decision making of both protagonists... I just rolled with it. And really, the title? Sweet Surrender? That in itself tells you all you need to know abut the book.

Landon and Jinx are so hot together!!!
When Landon i sent to protect his boss godson, he had no Idea of what the future was holding for him... Jinx was supposed to be just one more job, one more person to protect, but instead, he found himself head over hills by the much younger model.
All Jinx wanted was to be seen by himself, instead of the façade he showed to the world... and he got his wishes fullfiled by his much older and Hot as hell bodyguard.

Landon and Jinx had so much to work out between them... but it would be worth it, because they were meant to be together - one more Great and hiper Hot book from T.S. Mckinney - Don't miss it <3

Sub Mission started the series off with a level of BDSM that the rest of the series has not had. There is a mild Daddy kink theme to this third installment, but it's not a major focus of the book. Landon is totally a Daddy - in fact, he's the father of one of the MCs from the second book - and Jinx/Micah is totally a boy, but they do not have a 24/7 Daddy/boy relationship. Don't let that keep you from reading this book, though, as it's funny and charming. An excellent addition to the series.

3.75 🌟 rounded up

This book has a little bit of a lot of tropes. May/December, Daddy kink, an unstructured dom/sub type of relationship, with some suspense thrown in. The characters are well developed and the writing style is smooth.

Jinx, or Micah Gentry, is a young supermodel at the top of his career, and he hates everything about it. Both of his parents were supermodels in their time, so he has just done as expected. His mother is loving and supportive, but his father is all about the money.

Landon is the bodyguard called in when Micah starts receiving threats. He has his own personal issues going on, and is not thrilled with a job babysitting a model, but after sitting in on a meeting with Micah's father and observing the young man, he volunteers to take the job for free. It doesn't take him long to learn that Micah is not as quiet and innocent as he seemed in the meeting.

This is definitely an Insta-attraction, GFY, typical bodyguard and client romance; just with a bit of light kink thrown in for fun. This is NOT a BDSM book - I just don't want to mislead anyone.

As the relationship develops, things get steamy. But, then Micah's father pulls a publicity stunt that throws everyone off.

When Micah overhears a conversation, he jumps to conclusions, which lead to him putting himself in danger. I am assuming this is part of a series, because there seems to be some backstory that I have missed on a couple of the other characters, and I expect another book to follow this. But, for now, our MCs get their HEA and are heading to a new adventure with other secondary characters.

Happy reading!

TS McKinney's Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender's an excellent mix of action, danger, and romance.

Written in dual pov, we get to delve into both Landon and Micah/Jinx's minds., creating good character depth.

The author entertains us with a look into the nitty gritty world of fashion, as well as the tough aspects of being famous. My heart breaks for Jinx as he was forced into this life and has never been given a choice. He may be a conceited ass, but it's easy to see why. But everything changes when he meets his new bodyguard Landon.

With Landon, we get to witness the real Micah, without all the armor he wears as Jinx. Not only does Landon break down Micah's walls, he also wants what's best for him. It's a beautiful tale of Micah finding someone who loves him for who he is instead of what he can do for Landon.

I love these two as a couple. They are a true delight, with fun dialogue and intense chemistry. I enjoyed every second of this fun and sexy romance. Both the age difference and the Daddy kink are exciting and super entertaining. The submission scenes are amazing! And as Micah's never been with a guy before, we get treated to a whole lot of fantastic firsts, which I enjoy a lot.

Unexpected Mission: Sweet Surrender is fast paced and super sexy. It's a instant attraction romance with some good angst and danger that both makes sense and is alluring. It's also sweet and sexy. I am excited to see what's next in this TS McKinney series.

This is a great read with two interesting characters, Landon (father to Arizona from book 2) and Jinx. This book takes place alongside book 2 so if you haven't read that one there will be a spoiler about the characters from that book.
There's an unexpected and strong attraction between the two and you can feel the heat jump off of the page. The age difference is only something that bothers Landon, though he is only 39. There's a good insight into what a model's life is like through Jazz's daily life and reading Landon learn the actual person that he has been hired to protect is enjoyable. Their interactions are full of snark, wit and temper as the two become more aware of each other and what may be possible between them. I really enjoyed how they played off of each other but also the serious moments that they shared together with Landon having experienced so much but Jinx experiencing a world completely different.
The end of the book is full of tension, and we experience heartbreak for both men but the journey for the both is well worth the end that we arrive at. I cannot wait for the next in the series as we're left with a momentous event ahead! I'd recommend reading at minimum book 2 then 3 as it keeps everything in order with no possibility of ruining any character story lines.
A definite recommendation for book and series!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I honestly think it's the worst book out of the three. Don't get me wrong I really liked the romance but I couldn't enjoy it. The end of the 2nd book was a cliffhanger and it wasn't addressed until the end of the 3rd book...
And even when it's addressed it ends with another cliffhanger, a useless one because we end up at the same point as book 2. So I'm here reading about a romance, telling myself ''Micah baby I love you but I don't need to hear about you I need to know more about...."
It was quite frustrating. Especially because the plot seems really interesting. It's too bad that's it's very rushed. It's like the author squeezes all the important parts in the 10 last pages of her books. It would have been better to add 100 pages to this book to have a nice feeling about it. I don't know if the author is planning to continue the series but if not then don't waste your time reading it. Yeah the romance is sweet but the plot is as lively as my love life.
Well, good book but the end is rushed . It feels like the end of my essays when the deadline impede me from writing a good ending. This is too bad really because it feels imbalanced and I can't help but feel frustrated since it's an overall good series. That 3rd book is really missing the point. I do hope the author will write another book on this and that it will be better handled

This was another great entry in the Sweet Surrender series. I am glad that Landon remains true to his gruff and grumpy character, no matter what else is going on. He makes me smile. The sparks fly when he meets sweet Micah, who is around the same age as Landon's son Arizona. Micah is a gorgeous model who seems spoiled and bratty, but he is actually desperate for someone to see the man he really is behind the façade. Landon does just that, and I love them as a couple!
The story focuses almost entirely on Landon and Micah's relationship until violence and evil come into play. Both men are tested and have to dig deep for strength. This is the point that confirmed for me that I am not a fan of Samantha. She could be just as powerful but more likeable if she didn't jump to conclusions regarding the people she should trust more than just about anyone else. I understand that she is protective over Micah, much like Landon is over Ari, and she means well. It still annoys me.
The writing is well done, the love and the hate are both believable. I love Micah and Landon, and I am very happy with their story. Now I will anxiously await the next book, which will introduce a character I am excited to meet. This series is terrific, and I am really enjoying it!

WOW! T.S. McKinney obliterated my expectations with this book, creating a story that drew me in and I couldn’t put it down. I impatiently waited for its release and as soon as it hit my kindle I started reading. I didn’t expect to forego sleep but there was no other option when I plunged into T.S. McKinney’s words.

The character development was incredibly well done. The chemistry between the main characters had me gasping for air because sizzling is an understatement! The best part is the author really took time to shade in the other characters, nothing felt forced or unnecessary. World building on this one was impeccable. I felt like I was right there even when I wanted to cover my eyes. T.S. McKinney masterfully weaved an intricate and vibrant world.

This is my favorite so far of the series. It has a perfect balance of emotional pull. There’s hotness, lightheartedness and an excellent dash of darkness. Any book that pulls me in enough that I lose track of time and sleep goes right on my favorite list. The author truly took me on a journey as a reader and I loved every step of the way.

5 stars for a passionate, vivid, and engrossing read!

Suspense, romance, mystery, great characters and an engaging story-line. I love romantic suspense and this author does it so well! I found i was immediately caught up in the book and read it in one sitting... way to late for sure. I really liked the development of Landon and Micah's characters. As the reader, i grew to really like them after being intrigued by them in their first interactions.

Landon and Micah connect in a very special way in this story and i enjoyed their interactions and loved what they found together. I was pretty surprised to find out who the bad guy was and i enjoyed the hospital scene. There were lots of great moments in this story and i am so recommending that you read and enjoy this book.

I really loved some of the secondary characters and Trevor is someone i would love to know more about where his story goes. I think this book can be read as a stand-alone because i enjoyed it and hadn't read the previous book about Ari and Eli. I will now, because i enjoyed this one so much.

I was gifted this book from the LesCourt Author Services and i freely give my honest opinion and review.

It was a pleasure to read this well-written heartwarming MM romance with “Daddy Dom” undertones. It has an interesting, fast-paced story-line & plot. The characters are unique with complex personalities & some of them struggle with self-esteem issues and acceptance as they continue to develop throughout the story-line.
There is: a lonely but bratty young male model is threatened by an unknown person (Jinx aka Micah), a bodyguard hired to protect him but has doubts that the threats are real (Landon), a uncaring father (Michael Gentry), family issues, twists & turns, intrigue, drama, humor, mystery, obsession, threats, danger, dissatisfaction, vulnerability, hostility, attractions, jealousy, verbal conflict, realization, sensual teasing, manipulations, misunderstandings, betrayal, injuries, love, happiness, some steam & a happy conclusion.
I enjoyed reading this MM romance & look forward to future books from this author

Who's The Daddy? A fun addition to the Sub Mission series by T. S. McKinney with a brat in need of a good spanking and a tough but fair Daddy who can save him from himself as well as from a fan who is obsessed with Jinx, a top male model and godson to Landon's boss Samantha at the Security and Protection agency where he works. Landon tries to resist the boy model's charms since he is not only a client, but he's the same age as Landon's son Ari (who we meet in book 2 of the series).
The twist in the tale was semi-unexpected though I did suspect who was behind the threats and scare tactics before the climax of the story. It was still a gripping read and well-written with interesting characters. I love a good Boy and Daddy romance. Highly recommended for all lovers of Daddy/Boy relationships.
