The Pack's Mate is book one in the Woodland Packs series. We meet a doctor named Claire when she talks to Alpha wolf Dexter about his father's heart attack. Dexter is the alpha in his trio pack with Jay and Taylor. The wolf community where theye're from is short on female wolves, and they've been able to procreate purebred wolves based on that. They've started looking at the idea of mating with humans as an option. Dexter doesn't think it's in his cards to have a human mate, especially not a human fated mate. But when he touches Claire's hand, he realizes she is his mate. Soon after, he realizes Claire is also the rest of his pack's mate as well. He's not too happy about having to share claire. He's overprotective of her and feeling greedy.
The rest of the book is their journey as a harem and exploring how to help his pack procreate and grow as a commuity.
As a shifter reverse harem romance, it was a pretty good read. I'll definitely check out others in the series.
I am back on my free apple books grind. This is one of the better ones. Definitely love bombing heavy and crazy how a doctor doesn’t question a positive pregnancy test one day after having sex, but hey 🤷.
I read all three of the books in this short series but I’m not listing them all individually. They could have all been part of the same story. In fact, that might have made this a little easier to enjoy/believe. The reverse harem theme is always amusing and fantastical. The concept of mini packs was a new one and interesting. I might read more by this author.
I only made it to 27% before throwing in the towel. What patriarchal drivel, from both the guys and her. Slut shaming? In a RH PNR? Ugh. Complete denial, too. She's a doctor, supposedly, but never questions fainting 3 times in less than 3 hours?? She tells them she plans to run away? Go ahead, give away the game plan, derp. They don't mingle with humans, never need medical assistance, yet they know what stents are and never once call the hospital, after they kidnapped the doctor, to ask how his dad is doing? Just completely trusting him to human care and not a single concern about blood work?? Why wasn't the alpha alerted when they showed up with a human woman? If they're dying out and hiding from humans why is it ok to bring attention to the pack by stealing a human doctor in broad daylight? They couldn't follow her home and take her from there? What kind of 3 stooges show they have going on here? Also, are they the only pack left? Are there others going through the same thing? How old do they live? It's mentioned the last pup was born 50yrs ago but these guys are described as young looking. Yet the women lose the ability to shift as they hit menopause (which is patently unfair) but that would be around their 50s in human years. There is zero world building. The characters aren't even fleshed out, let alone develop or grow. And the plot is based on a foundation that's shakier than a jello mould sitting on a fault line.
3***. This is a cute quick read RH shifter romance featuring a trio pack of lonely wolf shifters and a beautiful curvy human doctor, Claire. While I love PNR stories, I'm not a fan of instant true mate bonding - with little angst. I like my couples (or foursomes, lol) to have to work at it. This book was a bit unusual because the trio of shifters, which includes an alpha, a beta and an omega were not expecting to all bond with the same woman. Good start to a new series.
I love shifter stories and I really enjoyed this captivating and interesting story. The story-line and characters are interesting and I like them. I also enjoyed the suspense, intrigue and twists and turns in this story. I look forward to reading more from this writer.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Absolutely terrible, I listened to this book in its entirety because I kept hoping it would get better. It didn’t. It was basically a porno and a bad one at that. There was no plot and no reason the bear shifters were against the wolf shifters and why did they want Claire. And not to mention the narrator, I’m just so sorry but her male voices - just NO!!! I will not be continuing this series. Just too stupid!
The packs not longer have female shifter, so no mates. Then a human doctor helps a shifter, and suddenly she is their mate. So many convenient and also random events. Just OK.
Okay ..... Threesomes and shifters!!! I’ve read a few of these types of books, they seem to be the in thing at the moment. (1 woman and 3 men) There hasn’t been a female wolf born into the woodlands pack for over 50 years, the population has given up hope of ever finding a mate. So the elders decided to pass a law where 3 Wolves form a triad (an Alpha, Beta and an Omega make up each little “pack”) and when they find their mate, they are to protect and guard them. But finding a mate is easier said than done. So they need to start looking for human females to breed with. (But Dexter’s pack will only mate with their Fated mate.) Dexter is the Alpha of the pack, what he says usually goes. He’s known Jay and Taylor since they were all young, so his triad was always going to be those two. He wants a mate, and lately that’s all he can think of, someone to come home to, and someone he can have kids with, but with no females in the pack, he had to do something, and searching in the human world, seems like the only option left open to them. Having touched Claire, he feels a jolt and when she faints at his feet, Dexter whisks her up into his arms and into the truck, then reality hits. What has he done?!?! Jay is your omega, the caregiver, he wants a mate and a houseful of kids (in fact he would be happy to stay at home and look after the kids) he is the peacemaker, and when they find their mates, it’s going to be a happy home. Taylor is the Beta of the group (second in command) he’s always been happy to follow Dexter’s orders. He’s the one who usually goes into town to find a little female companionship, but even that is wearing thin. How do you find your mate? Claire is a doctor. She loves her job, not too keen on the long hours, but it comes with the job. Waking up in a strange house isn’t Claire’s thing, but she remembers seeing a big man, shaking his hand, then nothing. And overhearing three guys talking about “sharing her” has her scared. How the hell did she get here? And what do they want? And when she sees what they can become...... This is where I get confused, previous books have the threesome looking for one female, and although Dexter said he didn’t mind sharing, when he meets Claire for the first time, he sends his pack mates away, he is fiercely jealous and guarded. (I thought it was a group decision to share?) The foursome then have to work out how this life is going to work for them. And how will Claire cope when trouble comes knocking in the shape of angry bears? 🦋
As a reader, I found The Pack's Mate to have some intriguing moments, particularly at the beginning when Clara is kidnapped. I appreciated how she maintained a sense of calm in that tense situation. It was a smart choice on the author's part to allow readers to feel secure, knowing that her mates weren't actually going to harm her. This added an interesting layer to the narrative, as it created tension while showcasing Clara's level-headedness.
However, everything that follows this initial encounter felt lacking in depth and cohesion. Despite her calm demeanor during the kidnapping, Clara’s character quickly became frustratingly inconsistent. As a doctor, I expected her to demonstrate more critical thinking and emotional intelligence in later situations, yet she often made decisions that seemed naive or poorly thought out. For instance, the bear attack yes they were shifters but the only thing she did was hide in fear which could have been realistic if it was paired with her past experiences an example being her remembering how her ex cheated on her and even though there were 3 of them they couldn't protect her and her fiercely fighting too protect herself and maybe be helpful.
The pacing of the story became an issue after that gripping opening. The narrative felt rushed, making it hard for me to connect with Clara and her mates on a deeper level. Like when meeting her alpha's Dexter parents. The rapid development of their relationships, especially considering they only spent a day together, left me questioning the authenticity of their bonds. I wanted to see more nuanced interactions and emotional buildup rather than being told to accept their connections without sufficient groundwork. For example, Clara’s instant attraction to multiple mates felt forced, and moments that could have deepened their relationship—such as shared experiences or crises—were glossed over. The only thing they did was have sex.
Clara's backstory, particularly her struggles with her absent parents and past relationships, had the potential to enrich her character, but it remained underexplored. For instance, the revelation that her parents made her buy her own gifts for her birthday hinted at a lifetime of neglect, yet this theme wasn’t fully developed. I was left wanting a deeper understanding of how these experiences shaped her present actions and emotional responses. Instead, she often came across as emotionally distant and her excuse was on my very own person and I'm a doctor, which detracted from my ability to empathize with her journey.
Moreover, the world-building fell short. The paranormal elements, while intriguing, lacked clarity. I found myself confused about the dynamics of the shifter world and the significance of the mate bond. For example, the rules surrounding the mate bond were not well-defined, making it difficult to understand how they impacted Clara and her relationships. Could the mate bond be broken, what would happen if it was broken? How long do werewolf live? It's mentioned the last female pup was born 50 years ago but these guys are described as young looking? How old were the male lead? How are new pops born if everybody seems so hesitant to mate with humans? Why did the bear want to kill the wolves mates if they realize they're more similar than they seem? How did the bears know the wolves found their mate? This lack of detail made it harder for me to fully immerse myself in the story.
Emotional realism was another area where the story faltered. Clara’s reactions to traumatic events often felt superficial. While she showed fear during her kidnapping, it lacked the depth of trauma one would expect from such experiences. Her emotional arc did not evolve significantly throughout the narrative, leaving me wanting to see her grow and learn from her challenges. Author did try to show a bit of growth at the hospital where she refused to apologize to her boss because she's always giving 100% at work but because she is single and childless they often give her more responsibilities even when it's not in her duty or responsibility.
In summary, while I enjoyed the initial setup and the potential for an engaging story, the execution left me feeling unsatisfied. Clara’s character, the pacing, and the emotional depth of the relationships all needed more development to create a truly compelling read. I wanted to see her evolve, especially after her calmness in the face of danger, but instead, I was left with a sense of missed opportunities. The story had a promising foundation, but to truly resonate, it needed deeper character exploration, clearer world-building, and a more gradual development of relationships.
Why did you read this book? I am in the mood for RH romances, this one was free on kindle, and had good ratings.

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILERS I loved the fact the MC chose to kiss Jay the omega first. Usually, the MC’s are all over the alpha’s in the story first.
Who would you suggest this book to? Anyone who likes Fated Mate RH romances.
What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS It was okay. The book was slow to get started and it turned more into an erotica then a romance. I felt like the author could have cut a large chunk of the story in the beginning because most if it isn’t integral to the story. The pacing of the story wasn’t great. At first it starts off slow then goes too fast. The MC is terrified by being kidnapped, want to try things out, to sleeping with them all in a 24-48 hour period. Explanation… FATE! Also the lack of explanation why the bears have a beef with the wolves is kind of frustrating. I also got irritated at how the MC KNEW the bears were after her and then went to the ER in a room alone, with a man with the description of the bear shifters that JUST attacked her that morning. Overall, it wasn’t a bad book and I liked that the author changed up the usual alpha/beta/omega troupe pack dynamic in this book. Unfortunately, the book didn’t hook me enough to read the rest of the series.
Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? Women are not being born RH troupe. Fated mate troupe.
How intense are the intimacy scenes? The intimacy scenes are very detailed. MF. MFMM. Pregnancy kink.
At what “burn” level is the romance? The burn level is HOT. This is mostly an erotica with some story.
Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender? There are three love interests, all of them wolf-shifters. Dexter- Alpha and scary leader. Taylor- Beta and prior playboy. Jay- Omega and sweetheart.

Book: The Packs Mate Read By: Ebook and Audio Author: Amelia Shaw Genre:Paranormal Romance, Fantasy, Smut Main Characters: Claire, Taylor, Jay and Dexter Recommend: Yes Spice: 🌶️️ 🌶️️ Age recommendation: 16-30+ Years My feelings:
This was such a quick and cute read.
“Jay gasped and Taylor went rigid beside me. I could feel them reacting to her in the same way my shifter was, which should have been impossible. We were meant to have our own mates. And she was mine.”
I would recommend this for a young adult read.
“At once?” I asked, trying to clarify the rules and intent. I’d tried not to think about how we were going to share her sexually. He shrugged. “Yeah, why not? If she’s destined to be the mate to a full pack, then she’ll have an appetite to match.” I grinned at my Alpha, lust heating up my blood. “I like the sound of that.”
The book follows Claire and 3 wolf shifters Dexter, Jay and Taylor. There pack has no females born within the group for years, leaving them unable to mate. On a trip into town to save their alpha they meet a doctor at the hospital, who ends up being the mate for all 3 of them. She is a beautiful curvy women, who hasn’t had any luck with men in the past.
“You have all the power, Claire. As my mate, a woman I’ve waited my whole life for, I’d die to keep you safe.”
When Dexter touches her, she passes out and they take her back to there house. Were she continues to faint when she touches the other 2. The convict her to stay with them, and start a family together and help save there pack. The book ends with a HEA.
“Best day of my life, by far,” Jay was saying, and I looked up with a dopey smile, almost incoherent. But I had to say it. They had to know. “I think I can make this day even better.” Dexter pulled a pillow down for himself and tucked it beneath his head. He ran a hand over my cheek. “Oh, really? How?” I smiled up at them all, their full attention on me. “I’m pregnant.”
Very cute read

The Pack is dying out. No female wolf shifters have been born in 50 years. Now the Alpha is having serious heart problems and may be dying, and shifters don't even have heart issues. Desperate, Dex and his mini pack take his father into the nearby town to seek help at the hospital. There, they meet Claire, a human doctor who they immediately recognize as their mate. When they touch, and Claire faints, Dex takes her back to the pack lands. When she wakes, they begin their first steps into mating with an explanation and a demonstration, then let instinct take over. It's a shock, but a welcome one, and everything is going well until the Bear Shifters target Claire. Now, she'll have to decide to follow fate or turn her back on her new mates.
This wasn't for me. There wasn't enough world-building or character development. Everything was superficial and never revisited for more detail. I needed pack history, wolf shifter history, and bear shifter history. Are other wolf packs dying out? Why did the bears want them to die out? How did they know about Claire? Why was their hit a one-and-done, and they took off? I wasn't a fan of Claire. She exhibited no critical thinking or emotional intelligence. Her reactions weren't sincere. She was Blah! Her only connection was to Dexter's mom. The men didn't offer any special qualities to make them stand out. There were too many plot holes with the heart ailment and the hospital. They never called the hospital to check on the Alpha after leaving him for surgery. The hospital didn't call the police after seeing a doctor carried out unconscious. If Claire stays with the guys, she's going to be expected to be a baby-making machine. How is this going to work with her career? She can't be a doctor, living 1 hour away on mountain roads from the hospital, pumping out babies. There's no depth or emotion to this story.
Not sure how I felt about this. This book was a quick read that dove really quick into the mating portion of the story. Some time should’ve been spent developing the storyline. The female lead Claire was the physician, from what I understand working in the ER, and when the alpha saw her his touch knocked her out and he basically just took her home. So he kidnapped her and then she woke up in their house. And of course there were three of them who all “felt something” and ended up bonding to her. In the beginning Claire was all “ I’m a professional who is never attracted to anyone and hasn’t gotten laid in awhile” to “wham bam thank you ma’am all three men in one day” idk the male characters were decently bland no real character development. Like I said this is a quick book that got to all the sexual points quickly. As someone who works in the healthcare field and worked in an ER there is no way in a cold hell could you leave your job when you are in the middle of your shift and no one notice. This part got to me the most. This needed better development, needed to be a tad more realistic. I’m sure the next book will explain this but what was the point of her getting attacked by the shifter bear??? Anyone know? They cut that arc off pretty quick. Glad this was free.
The Woodland Pack's are dying out because there haven't been any female born within the packs in years. When one of the pack's alpha asks to be taken to a human hospital imagine his son's surprise when he finds his fated mate there working as a doctor. When he shakes her hand she passes out and he doesn't know what to do so he picks her up and takes her home with him. Later that same day when she awakens panicked his Beta touches her and she passes out so they know that she will be their shared mate. It takes Jay their Omega's calming touch to get Claire to agree to give them a chance. She doesn't understand any of what's going on but after talking to Dex's mom she decides to give them a chance. However they have to give her a say and not run roughshod over her. When an enemy of the packs hear that they now have a way of thriving will they be able to protect Claire from the threat?
This is an amazing story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is scorching hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a revie
Of all bad RH I’ve read and dropped, this one easily got in the top 10 of them all. Writing wise, it’s decent enough. Plot wise it’s again OK although not entirely original. Character wise? They’re a bunch of shit. The story opens with one of the MMC’s POV and boy does it scream sexism and misogynistic all rolled into three wolf shifters. Dare I say they could be racist? Reverse speciesist? For someone who still relies heavily on human made creations, these shifters look down on humans a lot. But that’s not what annoys me the most. It’s the fact that each and every one of the love interests is crazy as fuck. Whoever would have thought the logical thing to do upon meeting their fated mate is to kidnap her? Apparently those three shitheads. That wouldn’t have been so bad, all things considered, but not even 20% in, they’ve collectively thought of the FMC as someone to own, someone who apparently was designed and built to please and pleasure them. It was dodgy at best and downright annoying the more it looks like it’s going to be a recurring thing going forward. These caveman behavior and misogynistic thought process annoys the shit out of me and I cannot see them improving at all. So. Not worth my time.
Some of the world building was interesting. Like the fact that there seems to be “sub-packs” within the main pack. These smaller packs are a triad of an alpha, beta and an omega. The alpha is the strength of the pack, the beta is the soul and the omega is the heart. I will admit, that I did love the omega, Jay. He was just a sweet, yummy guy.
There really wasn’t much of a plot. . . For some unexplained reason, there hasn’t been a female born in the pack in nearly 50 years. It’s all boys. So their pack is slowly dying, and they realize that they’re going to have to look towards human females to save their community. (Sounds like the plot of every sci-fi romance book, yeah?) There were some plot holes such as a bear shifter pack that finds out that there's a human mate in the wolf pack so they attack to try and get her. It’s never really explained how they found out about her. There’s an allusion that there must be a mole in the wolf pack but that is never resolved and the bears just disappear. It made no sense.
While I didn’t hate the book, I wouldn’t recommend it. If you have other books in your TBR pile, go find something there first. This was the first book in the series, and I won’t be continuing it.
The Woodland Packs.is slowly dying out. No female born in 50 years. The elders put the young males into family groups to stop the fighting, an Alpha, Beta and Omega. Dexter is the Alpha of his family, is best friends Taylor his Beta and Jay this Omega. They have built a home, work hard, but all three are mateless. When Dex's is father gets sick beyond what the pack Harper can treat, they take him to the human hospital. When Dex shakes hands with the Doctor she faints and his beast says mate. He panics and kidnapped her. The last thing Claire remembers is shaking hands with the son of her patient, before waking up in a strange bed, under the care of a very hot guy. When she shakes his hand she faints. Taylor suspected.that Claire was his mate too. Likely Jay's too. Fate has finally given him a mate and he has to share. Jay is thrilled to find Claire is his mate too. After they touch she kisses him. Now they have to figure out how to explain who they are and what she means to them. Fast paced, sweet and steamy. Nice epilogue to wrap up their story. Looking forward to the next book.
Fated mates aren’t born to the pack. She's born human and it’s up to us to find her. As the Alpha of my pack, I was resigned to my fate. Never to find my one true partner, the other half of my soul. But when a miracle happens, I discover Claire is not just mine, but belongs to my pack as well. This love is unprecedented. Can Taylor, Jay and I make this work? Am I able to share? Our future is uncertain. But when bear shifters come to steal Claire away from us – I guarantee you – we will not let them have her. She is ours, even if she denies it. Will she finally accept us as her destined mates?
I really enjoyed this book about shifter wolves. A great read for anyone that loves reading Wolf Shifter books. The story was well written and had a great plot, it was filled with many emotions. I loved the story and the characters. You have a dying pack, a kidnapped mate, 3 hot mates to add to the mix as well. Thank you, Amelia Shaw. Great work!

A wolf shifter takes his very sick father to the ER and unexpectedly runs into his mate! His beta and omega think she is their mate too. The problem is she is human. They have to work out sharing her and convince a human to be their mate. These sexy wolf shifters will give it their best shot! I enjoyed the book. It is a quick and easy read with a HEA. I like the characters in the book and the in idea of mini packs. The shifters realizing that their mates goals and wishes matter is great too. I am following this author and will read the next one. There are some things that don't make sense. The doctor's medical lingo feels off. I think the way the shifters left with the doctor would cause a bigger fuss. It also seems like the father in the hospital was forgotten about. The antagonists in the book are never explained and disappeared as quickly as we meet them. I would recommend this for a quick and light read but you can't be a stickler for details.
For fifty years there have been no females born to the woodland pack so in an effort to try to keep things calm the elders form the males into family groups an Alpha a beta and a omega In one family pack the alpha is Dexter (Dex) his beta and best friend is Taylor and Jay is the Omega that finishes the family group. They work hard and they play hard but they are all desperate for a mate When Dex's father is so ill that he need to go to a hospital things come to a head When Dex shakes hands with his father's doctor she promptly faints and his inner wolf yells mate unsure what to do he kidnaps her When Claire awakes in a house she doesn't know she is been cared for by a super hot guy he introduces himself as Taylor she shakes his hand and you guessed it she faints yet again will the same thing happen with Jay Is she the mate of this wolf shifter family and will she accept her role You will have to read to see
Dexter is the Alpha of his family, his best friends Taylor his Beta and Jay his Omega. They have built a home, work hard, but all three are mateless. When Dex's is father gets sick beyond what the pack healer can treat, they take him to the human hospital. When Dex shakes hands with the Doctor she faints and his beast says mate. He panics and kidnapped her. The last thing Claire remembers is shaking hands with the son of her patient, before waking up in a strange bed, under the care of a very hot guy. When Taylor introduces himself, she shakes his hand and faints. Taylor suspected that Claire was his mate and Likely Jay's too. Fate has finally given him a mate and he has to share with Dex and Jay, something that has never happened in the pack before. Jay is thrilled to find Claire is his mate too. After they touch she kisses him. Now they have to figure out how to explain who they are and what she means to them.
I liked the set up for the book. The Woodland Packs are dying because no females have been born for over 50 years. This creates the problem where the pack has basically given up on life and the neighboring bear shifters have just been biding their time for them to die off probably so they can take over their land. I wanted to give this a four star review but there were a few plot things that bothered me. Without their fated mates the wolf shifters can't reproduce which is probably good because they have basically encouraged the young males to visit the nearby town and randomly hook up with human women in the neighboring town but then when Dex's mom is explaining how the loss in reproduction happened she says that towards the end they were marrying cousins because there wasn't anyone else left to marry but they were still having male children. It was still an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series on Kobo plus.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥 🌶️🌶️🌶️
The medical problem with Dexter’s father was not realistic or logical whatsoever. You don’t from my understanding you do not decline in health to a heart attack. It’s more sudden and unknowing. The author could’ve chosen a different medical illness or health reason as to why his father was sick and declining health, but a heart attack did not explain his symptoms.
One thing I didn’t like was that the voices the narrator did for some of the men like Dexter and Taylor were kind of annoying it were scratchy and uncomfortable to listen to. But when the narrator did Jay‘s voice, and when the narrator was just doing the inner monologue of the men, it was just the normal talk, but the scratchy voice it was fine. I don’t know why they did that scratchy annoying voice. Double penetration Pregnancy
Claire is an ER Doctor. Dexter is an alpha. Taylor is an beta. Jay is an omega. For a whole generation for the woodlands pack there hasn't been a single female born. Dexter, Taylor and Jay meet Claire when they have to take Dexter's dad into the city an hour away to the hospital in Little Creek. All three felt something when they see Claire walking there way to inform Dexter about his fathers condition. As soon as Dexter shook her hand Claire fainted from the mating call. Dexter decided at that moment he was taking her home to his pack. Claire was confused to way she was there and a little afraid but also curious. When they all told her that she was there mate she thought that they where all psychopaths. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot.
