Elodie Nowodazkij writes sizzling rom-coms with grumpy book boyfriends and the bold, funny women who win their hearts. (Think funny Hallmark movie with the door open ;-)) Sometimes, she even writes stories that scare the crap out of her (a mix of Lifetime movies and Criminal Minds). Raised in a small French village, she almost always had a book in her hands. At nineteen, she moved to the U.S., where she found out her French accent is here to stay. Now in Maryland with her husband, dog, and cat, she whips up heartwarming, hilarious, and hot romances or heart-pounding and haunting romantic suspense novels. All of them hard to put down. Ready to take the plunge? The water’s delightfully warm.
This was a story following Natalya as she both won her dream role in the ballet that her school was performing, and survived the car accident that robbed her of her place as Aurora, as well as taking the life of her father. I felt quite sorry for Natalya in this story, and it was so unfair that she lost so much in such a short time! 8 out of 10

This little novella was heartbreaking. It’s goes through the events of a week, alternating between the before and after the accident that changes Natalya’s life forever. Heartbreaking.
I really liked to get to know Natalya in the before. Having read A Summer Like No Other and Always Second Best I knew a bit about Natalya’s from Em’s POV, but this had a totally different feel to it. I’m also glad that I read the novella before the novel below, because it made me understand Natalya a lot better.
The only thing that made me rate it lower was that nothing actually happens… I finished the novella knowing Nata better, but that was it.
¿Qué puedo decir? La historia de Nata me atrapó, me conmovió, me dio ganas de seguir leyendo su vida en One, Two, Three, esperando que pronto tenga ese final feliz que tanto merece.
So this is a great short novella. You can read this one first if you wish before you read One, Two, Three. I actually read One, Two, Three first. So going into this story I already knew some of what was going to happen. But I am glad that I read this. It gives so much insight in just a few short pages of what was going on with Natalya's dad. How troublesome her family was before the accident. Just bring some tissues with you. With this story because it can be a bit of a tearjerker. So technically after this book I am done with the series. But I am going to continue on and read another story by Elodie, that is in the same vicinity. Called A Summer Like No Other. I believe its in the same world as this series. This is a really great Ballerina series if you like dance stories. Please pick it up you will not be disappointed.
A short but fantastic read! I've already read the book which follows this one, ONE...TWO...THREE, and can honestly say that I found this one even better.
This novella was written after the first book, but that doesn't make it an after-thought. Although some books written like this often feel as if they're the authors way of stacking up a series, ONE DREAM ONLY not only explains the events leading up to the first book but bring depth and understanding which enriches the entire story. I gained a much better insight into Natalya's character and even though I've already read the continuation of her story, sympathize with her more than before.
I was especially impressed with the way the book is put together. The chapters don't follow a chronological order but jump back and forth around the day of the big accident. The author managed to make this time shifting not only easy to follow (it's exactly stated at the beginning of the chapter) but arranged them in a way that brought tension and emotions to their peek. It was a sheer joy to read.
Emotions and depth are one of the best parts of this series, and especially this book. I had no trouble being pulled into Natalya's world, fevered for her auditions, felt her confusion, and wished hope would turn out to be more than a light at the end of the tunnel. Her story pulls at the heart strings and the characters around her help create a believable world. But even when the world crumbles around her, it's great to see Natalya's strength (and weaknesses).
I definitely can recommend this, either before or after reading book one...or even as a read on its own. It's length makes it easy to read in less than an hour, but it leaves the reader craving for more.
One Dream Only is a short story of a teenager trying to live up to her parents' expectation of being the best ballerina. Sixteen-year-old Natalya Pushkaya's mother is a well-known famous ballerina within the world of performing arts. Her father is a famous pianist. Both has high hope that Natalya will be as famous as they are.
Within that one week, Natalya notices that her parents are having marital problems and are hiding their problems from her. Both want her to stay focus on landing the main role of the School of Performing Arts' end-of-the-year showcase. Within one week, Natalya completed her audition and is waiting for the results. Within that same week, everything changes in her life.
Natalya has to live up to her mother's fame. She doesn't have the techniques down but her ability to interrupted music into dance makes her a lead competitive dancer. Natalya feels so comfortable in her audition that she doesn't feel threaten by her competition. She proves it by offering critique to her second best in the performing arts school. The story goes back and forth from her current state in the hospital and the seven day events of what lead to her to being in the hospital.
The narrator, Jennifer Baggiero delivers a wonderful Russian accent for Natalya and her parents. Listeners would be able to hear her narration from a Russian teenager's perception of what dancing means to her.
The story is so short that I listened to the audiobook twice. I love the way Natalya and her parents speak to each other. The narrator did a great job. I would love to give this a 4.5 stars but the stars are whole numbers.
I was given this book by the author in exchange of an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

I’m not usually a big fan of novellas, and prefer reading full novels, but I enjoyed this one. I thought it was nice to see exactly what happened before One, Two, Three, and I think it gave a different meaning, a different understanding, to Natalya and what happened to her at the beginning of the book. I thought it was a bit boring, and at first, it was hard to get into the story, but it got better. And the jumping from before the audition and after it could’ve been one of the reasons it was so hard to get into the story. But overall it was a good novella, and I enjoyed reading it, and it brings another depth and understanding to the story.
This is well-written glimpse of the story to come. I enjoyed the characters and am ready to read the full story of what comes next.
One Dream Only is the sad prequel to Ms. Nowodazkij's book One, Two, Three. Natalya's dreams are smashed with one accident. Will she ever be able to realize her dreams? will she and her mother overcome what haunts them?
I've rated this with only 3 stars solely because it is so short and is not a full story. However, it is well-written and edited. I found several things I liked within the story. The chapters are short and sweet. To start with the story alternates between present day and the past. I found this to work well for the story.
I will definitely be going on to the first book in the series!
I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. It's one of the good book I've ever read, I can feel Nata's emotions when I read it, and because of this book, now I really want to read "One Two Three" to know the journeys of Nata's life and dream as a ballerina, will she make it or not, or maybe there will be another paths to her life.. Thanks to Elodie Nowodazkij and for all those who let me win this book as the only one winner and have review on this book. It's always be a great honor to me. Warm regards from Indonesia, Stephany Efflina
I haven't read any of the Broken Dreams series, so this was my first introduction to the series and the author. The writing was nice, but there isn't a lot going on plot wise. I'm assuming that this is a great prequel for the series and a good introduction into Natalya's backstory.
I listened to the audio version and Jennifer Baggiero did a great job narrating, but the audio quality was a bit hollow. Baggiero has a nice voice for narrating.

So excited! One Dream Only will also be soon available in paperback...

Having already read the book this novelette sets up, I was familiar with the characters and I loved getting a glimpse into Natalya's life at school.
The alternating timeline was done well and there was so much intensity to the story, from Natalya's dance audition to her interactions with her family.
The ending provided a smooth transition to the novel ONE, TWO, THREE.
“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”
I have not read "One, Two, Three" so this prequel was a first look into a teen ballerina's dysfunctional family. The story moves before and after the tragedy that changes her life forever. I now want to read the previous book to see where this story goes.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.
Another great read by Elodie Nowodazkij!!! This book is setting you up for another one.. so grab yourself and copy and get ready to see where you set off too! Another easy to escape from reality read!
Elodie is a really promising author. This is the second work I've read from here and both have kept me engaged even though k can't personally relate to the world of teenage ballerinas at all. That's a job well done.
