When I was in grade school back in 80's Spot was just out and very popular. This book has several short stories or as I like to say tales of the adventures of Spot. The book contains a total of 3 stories, spot goes splash, spot goes to fair, and sweet dreams Spot.
I enjoy that Spot is very curious free spirited puppy. The stories involve several members of his family for example his grandparents. Spot tends to be a little to curious for his own good and get into a little trouble. Which I think is good for children to see maybe why or what not to do as they see what happens to spot. For example getting muddy isn't a bad thing but sometimes it not always right time to play in mud. It's a little longer book but ends with sweet dreams Spot helping children to unwind and relate to falling asleep dreaming of Spot or their next adventure.
This book is about a puppy spot, and his family. One story is about him playing in the mud, and then getting into a bit of trouble with his mom, and then taking a bath. The next story is about Spot’s grandparents taking him to the fair. And the last story is about bedtime, and Spot’s bedtime routine. This book was pretty good. I could see little children enjoying it before they go to bed at night. In this book he calls his parents by their first names, which I think is interesting. But yet he calls his grandparents grandma and grandpa. The pictures are simplistic, but children can easily relate to them. I would use this book with my children, especially before bed. It’s a good winding down before bedtime book. It also teaches kids lessons like, when you splash in the mud get the hose and clean your feet off before you come into the house.
I always loved spot books growing up. They are such easy reads and pretty short so they keep the attention of younger kids for the perfect amount of time. My niece loves having the spot books read to her, and she's 4! I also think her love for puppies plays a role in this!! The message is always good and easy for kids to understand.
