Yours Legally, a debut book by author Sonia Sahijwani, encapsulates the experiences of Sia, a young budding lawyer, right from her courtroom to prison visits. The central theme revolves around the law structure, which has been hardly written about in books, its just the scripted versions we see in TV series and movies. Embedding the real scenarios, encounters, and the nitty-gritty of this profession in such a way that even a layman understands it is a commendable job.

This is a short book that has 6 astounding short stories, totally based on real-life events. It revolves around the six critical aspects (6Cs) of the profession: the Case, the Court, the Counsel, the Complainant, the Confinement, and the Criminal. Each episode begins with legal maxims both in Italian as well as English, I felt that gave a nice touch before the actual story began. My most favorite short story is 'Behind Those Dark Shades'; I have read this one on repeat, it's a very inspirational story.

Sia's journey made me realize that lawyers cannot and do not think of just making money, its love for their job, and the people that keep them going. The author has also tried to touch upon the harsh reality that some people are present at the wrong place at the wrong time. All those who are convicted of crimes need not necessarily be guilty. She has conferred such intense sentiments that even the readers perceive the exact same emotions that the protagonist transpires.

I loved the book cover, unpretentious, and very elegant. The moment I read the Preface, I knew I am gonna adore reading the stories. The way the author has described her life, how writing and her legal profession inculcated the spark in her to publish her own book one day. Getting your book published is definitely not an easy job, she has also expressed her struggles that she ventured to get this book promulgated.

I would recommend this book to everyone so that they get to know how the Indian law firms and the Indian system actually works. The established lawyers, as well as the students who are pursuing law, will instantly connect with the stories. The storytelling and narration are easy to understand, other than a few grammatical errors and sentence structure, which can be taken care of in the next edition. The inclusion of Hindi dialogues gives a perfect touch to the narrative. The satirical writing style leaves a smile on your face while reading the book.

Yours Legally by Sonia Sahijwani is a collection of short stories encapsulating the initial days of a young lawyer Sia as she meanders through various opportunities coming her way.

The unique thing about this book is its central theme. It deals with the law profession which is explicitly talked about rarely in books. I loved that the author went ahead and chose this theme. Also, the short stories are not independent but surprisingly correlated. The book enmeshes the experiences of Sia in the courtroom and captures the reality behind the law and order in India. I felt connected to Sia as she keeps on taking the challenges in her stride and goes on to grab every opportunity to prove her mettle and evolve.

Each story has a different aspect of Indian society. It presents the human nerves so well. From an old woman to a Judge with astute judgment, everything seemed real to me. The characters are sketched finely and put into the story with precision. The writing style is kept simple and this makes reading the book easy. The subtle sarcasm and compelling theme provide for a refreshing reading experience. The book definitely stands out because of its UN-cliche focal point.

My only point of discontent with the book is poor editing which has left its imprints throughout the book. I found a few typos which really didn’t go well with me. So, a round of editing is suggested. Additionally, I personally feel that the writing could have been more nuanced and enhanced with depth. Courtroom needs attention and I feel we must shed light on this subject.

I can’t help but admire the cover which is visually appealing and fine to touch. I thoroughly loved it.

Overall, the book is a breezy read and must be picked up for a light but a different reading experience.

Yours Legally by Author Sonia Sahijwani is a collection of six inspiring short stories based on true events. Author of this book is a young lawyer and through this book she has tried to share some of the most memorable experiences of her career journey, that really left a deep impact on her life. Some of my favourite stories from this book are - 'Behind Those Dark Shades' and 'Qaidi No. 90.'

There is lot to learn from this story 'Behind Those Dark Shades' which is about a wonderful Senior Advocate Sameer Singh. Sia, a young lawyer got an opportunity to work with him. She was in a state of shock when she came to know that his mentor was completely visually impaired yet in her innumerable experiences and meetings so far, Sia had never seen such a confident looking lawyer. Inspite of his unfortunate shortcoming, he worked hard and was self-sufficient. He had an extraordinary will-power, determination, courage, an amazing, ever so-happy smiling nature, and a passion to make the most out of life with his strengths and weaknesses. That one month Sia worked under him was the most memorable, unforgettable and learning experience of her life. There is a lot to learn from Sameer Singh's inspiring story.

In the second story Qaidi N0.90 ( Prisoner No. 90), I really loved reading about how Author had one unusual wish, the desire was an extra ordinary one, and it was to visit a prison one day to meet the undertrials or other prisoners. She wanted to see a prison for herself to know its dark and ugly realities. Sia was extremely curious to know and see how really a prisoner lived. Author talks to few of the under trials criminals in the prison to know their stories and to know what crime had they committed to land up in prison. The impact of the entire prison episode have been too deep on her and she could never forget it. There is lot to learn for readers from all six stories.

The writing style of the Author is really impressive. The cover of the book is designed creatively and I found the title apt. The book is a quick and interesting read and I finished it in one go.

RATING: I would like to give it 5/5 Stars and would highly recommend it to everyone.

“Too much law, too little justice, too much rhetoric, too little reform.”

I have come across this title while browsing randomly which was published as a result of legal profession analysis conducted in the US. This exactly sums up the current position in India. In India, Law and Justice have not in tune with time. Anarchism raises only when the legal mechanism fails to maintain fairness, equality, poses a threat to personal liberty or when one's protection to life & property becomes a question. As for deprivation, our political scenario plays a major role. So basically comes to the Court practice, it is always a way beyond one's perception - be it an individual or who hails from the profession.

The court practises or the matters of the procession are difficult to comprehend, to begin with. Or it may demand extraordinary inputs to get the desired final result. This is a collection of 6 short stories where the author has explained the critical elements concerning the legal profession. In this book, the author has described the stories in the following topics where she draws the clear picture of courtrooms dramas, cases she handled, her experimenting by working under different sorts not sticking to 9-5 job etc. In a nutshell, Yours legally is a gem of the books.

I love the way how she subtly picks the sarcasm by pointing out what our Indian legal system needs? Such as the search for truth rather than the search for proof and lawyers are too many. After all legal profession needs empathy not sympathy with the public interest, here in this she expressed it very well. Compelling and unapologetic narrative style made this book an enticing one. The language used, the plot is well developed as the author sought real-life experiences which make this as raw and gripping. I highly recommend this one to young professionals. And I wish and look forward to reading more books like this if she is planning to write one.

There was some warmth within me towards law and legal aspects. This book provoked all the hidden feelings that I had towards this study. The book started with the experience of the author. She has expressed how hard it was to tackle the journey in publishing this book. This book contains short stories that relate different cases with the same protagonist Sia. I loved the character of Sia as I could feel myself in her, she was working as an intern in many cases and learns the lessons from the advocates. Those lessons were really inspiring and I could get to know what the characters sense. My favorite story in this book was the second chapter 'the court'. The different aspects of thinking were introduced in this book which was mind-blowing. The dramas, emotions, and everything was very well portrayed. Moreover, the character development was done really well and it is clear to understand. My love for this study has increased a lot after reading this book. The cover is designed well by using the author sign as a stamp and the title is suitably decided to be compatible with the story. A can give a 5-star rating without thinking twice.

I have read the second book by the author and I loved it. And this book is her debut book. Though both the books are from very different genres they definitely show her talent and reflect her unique writing style.

Yours Legally is an inspiring collection of short stories. There are 6 stories in total and it's a short read. As the the title suggests, the stories are from the field of law. Sia, the protagonist of the stories is an aspiring lawyer with no background in this field. This book is written from her point of view and takes us through various aspects of Indian judiciary system. Though there are technical terms used, author has made an effort to keep it very simple so that everyone can read this book.

The book revolves are 6 different elements of Law: the Case, the Court, the Counsel, the Complainant, the Confinement and the the Criminal. One of my favourite stories was the Counsel.
Definitely a very intriguing read! It will give you a realistic view of the judicial world!

Yours legally : A collection of short stories
By Sonia Sahijwani
Published by Become Shakespeare
Genre:- Fiction
Yours Legally is a collection of unpredictable, inspiring and mind blowing short stories. Book is written in technical language but easily understandable. Each story is inspired by true events and is based on the first hand experience of the author in the field of law. This book is a eye opener because it's shows difference between real court hearing and movies court hearing. This book show hardwork of the author in law field and described in easy language. I also loved the cover of the book, it is beautiful.
Book is divided in six short and crisp stories. All the stories have one common protagonist Sia, and one common thread which bind them all that is Law. Book revolves around six elements that are; the Case, the Court, the Counsel, the complainant, the Confinement and the Criminal (defendant or accused). Story is based on our protagonist Sia, Who is an law graduate and has recently finished it against her parents will. She is currently looking to explore each and every part of law so goes and does various internships with different advocates. My favorite one were Jail no. 5 and Prisoner no. 90. It is page turning book.
Definitely recommended!

The first and foremost striking feature in this book is that all the short stories are connected. Unlike, other collections of short stories which are totally unrelated and have different characters altogether, stories here are connected through a common protagonist named Sia and the thread of law that binds it all in its wholeness.
Since all the stories , take place in the legal background, the narration normally revolves around— the case, the counsel, the court/judge, the complainant, the confinement and the criminal/defendant/accused. All the stories have a slight satirical tone to it, since inspiration is taken from reality.
What I didn't really like was the narration felt very detailed and stiff, due to which I was struggling to hold my attention. The narration could have been better, because the stories are really interesting, but loses its shine because of dull style of storytelling.
I really appreciate Sia and her empathetic and thoughtful nature. Nowadays, sense of empathy is lacking among people and characters that are thoughtful and understanding are much needed in the books that we read. Her struggles as a fresh law graduate and her perspective towards her profession is wonderfully expressed. I was somewhat expecting to know a bit more about the legal profession which would be totally unique, but I felt the uniqueness was hidden somewhere which I couldn't find.
The language used by the author is quite simple. Anyone, whether they have a law background or not, can easily read and understand the stories written. I liked the way, the author has written the meanings of legal terminologies and latin phrases, so that the readers don't feel alienated. Overall, this is a good read, which throws light on how the judiciary works. If you like short stories or stories having a slight touch of humour and reality, then you can give this book a go.

Law and order. Justice. Litigation. Judges and lawyers. All these words somehow point a finger towards the apex of the judiciary…the courtroom. This is where the hearings take place, and this is where guilt comes to surface once again. It is this place that witnesses the anguished pleas of the innocent demanding justice, and it is this place which bears proof to the punishments stamped upon the accused and the ones convicted of unlawful pursuits.

‘Yours Legally’ written by Sonia Sahijwani is based upon such a thematic backdrop. It is a collection of six short stories that follows the professional life of a young lawyer Sia as she gathers her experiences by grasping whatever opportunity comes her way. Sia is a fresh face in the law profession, and therefore whatever she faces are stuff she’s never faced before.

There are certain areas of this legal profession which are seldom talked about. Through Sia’s stories, the author keenly addresses these unconventional issues. At times, we see how the complexities of court proceedings and repeated hearings can have a toll on children and the elderly, whereas sometimes we are given a glimpse of the life of criminals in prison. The author weaves her tales surrounding these so-called translucent topics—making the book very fascinating to read.

Although the book is written keeping in mind that the general reader might not be familiar with the intricacies of law and order, the language and the writing style could have had more substance to it. The book promised of a very detailed and gripping account of events, but somehow that expectation was not fully met. It seemed that Sia’s experiences could have had more multi-layered descriptions from several perspectives, so as to provide the actual flavour of the central theme. In all, there was a lack of depth in the narrative. Even with all that, the book certainly is a good one to pick up. The last two stories which talk about Sia’s visit to a jail and her encounter with the prisoners subject to trial, has been put up quite well. But it could have been better if more insight could have been given to Sia’s personal opinion and response to things.

In light of the rare theme that the book is based upon and in accordance to the author’s smooth-paced style of writing, this book can be picked up by anyone who might be interested in peeking into the life of people involved in the law profession.

Title: ★★★★★(5/5)
Writing style: ★★★(3/5)
Plot: ★★★★(4/5)
Characterisation: ★★1/2 (2.5/5)
Engrossing factor: ★★★(3/5)
Overall impact: ★★★★(4/5)

Yours Legally is a short story book containing such heartful events happens with protagonist Sia in courtroom & her working field. She is an emerging lawyer & working in the learning stage. But when she understands the actual judicial procedure & victims she becomes speechless as well as heartbroken.
In India, there is a lot of demand *not mentioning who demand what because if the targeted person reads this he/she can wrap me in procedure🤭* hope you understand what I want to say. It's reality & we can accept it equally.
As it is mentioned in this book each story revolves around 6 elements; the case, the court, the council, the complainant, the confinement & the criminal. The author is a law graduate & have deep knowledge about everything regarding the judicial process. This reflects in the stories.
The stories are informative as well as heart touching. How the common citizen deals with such procedures & maintain patience between the whole procedure. The first & second stories are really heart-wrenching.
Moreover author presented the inside picture of a jail. Everyone wants to know about that place without going there 🤭 but literally, it is a good topic to discover & author descriptively portrayed the whole scene of people & activities inside a jail. If you think it is the worst place to live, you are wrong totally. For information read this book.
Totally is book is realistic & significant. All the stories are beautiful as well as poignant.
Understand India's judicial system is one thing & the actual situation is another. So this type of books helps the common citizen to look at such matters in a clear vision.

Book: Apki Siya LLb
Author: Soniya Sahijwani
Publisher: Become Shakespeare.com
Genre: Short Stories
Format: Paperback
Book Language: Hindi
Pages: 117
Rating: 4/5

This book is a collection of 6 short stories in Hindi. This is the Hindi version of the book ‘Yours Legally’. I havenot read the English version yet , but would like to read it to know how effective is the translation. Sometimes when you read same story in different languages it is a different experience altogether. One gets to learn a lot.

Well, coming back to the book. We get to see Siya’s life through her perception. The mention of dates at different point in stories, made me feel as if I was reading Siya’s journal where she poured all her thoughts. Siya is a beginner and is learning the legal work. I really loved all the stories in the book which help us see different angles of her life and her interactions with other people. I got to learn to lot of things

The language is easy and writing is flowy. The pictures given at the beginning of chapter along with law maxims and their meaning, do seize the attention of the reader. At places the font is bold to highlight the main point of the story.

The cover page is beautiful and attractive. If noticed carefully, the colors on the cover page do match the colors of dress of a lawyer. The quality of paperback is good.

I recommend this book to all in general but specially to those pursuing Law as their profession. I enjoed reading this book.

I completed reading Yours Legally: A collection of short stories by Sonya Sahijwani and I loved reading this book since I am truly interested in law being a student of Company Secretary.
This book comprises of short stories based on the elements of law such as The case, the court, the counsel, the complainant, the confinement and the criminal.
This book was useful to me in ways of giving me a glimpse as to how the courts worked and how our jails truly were.
This book is indeed a fiction book which has true incidences which author has faced in life and also gave me deep knowledge and portrayed emotion too for the elderly and the disables.
The story that inspired me was the fourth story"Behind those dark shades" where in a visually disabled person was an advocate and a really smart one too.
Passion never makes a man fail instead it always makes him fly.
The book always reveal the reality of life that alot of people who aren't even criminals have been conned into being one and are now in prison for most of their life because of some petty crimes or even for the crimes they never really did it.

'Yours Legally' is a book which attracts its readers from it's title only. A book of 118 pages divided in 6 short stories based on the practical life of a lawyer. Law is not only about learning and having the whole lot of bookish knowledge. But it is actually about how to perform in a court room using that bookish knowledge. The author Sonia Sahijwani tried to show the reality of laws, it's cases, the confinement, and the criminals through her protagonist Sia.
..
..
I was touched by the story 'Behind those dark shades' tells about the a person whose disability didn't stop him to become an advocate.
..
..
The best part i liked of this book is that every chapter starts with an introduction in a latin phrase.
‘Ut Poena Ad Paucos, Metus Ad Omnes, Perveniat’ : That punishment may come to a few, the fear of it should affect all. This chapter is a detail journey of a Jail. Sia always wanted to visit a jail and actually see what's it like. Finally an NGO approached her for an event going to be organised in the jail. She was a little bit terrified when she saw a convict in a solitary confinement cell. But she actually enjoyed her visit and captured every part of it in her eyes.
..
..
Then a story also tells that how a person ends up being a criminal without having done anything wrong. I enjoyed reading it and had a lot of knowledge about the prison world, laws and court rooms. Recommend everyone to read this amazing book.

A collection of short stories capturing the initial days of Sia’s stint as a lawyer as she grabs various chances that her career brings her. There are 6 stories and of course all are related to law. These are real life stories of the authors own life.

This is a good book for law students who seem to be the primarily target of this book. However, people like me who are always up for a good read would appreciate it too. The writing style is simple and there are some Hindi words which are used in court to lend a meaning to the story which would lose the essence if translated.

The cover’s colour matches the theme and is designed to gel with it. Simple and artistic way to matching the subject.
The satire makes is an easy read and not something that should be dreaded just because the word ‘law’ is added. The title is a witty take on the way we end our letters and matches the theme of the book. The satire and wit would carry you through. The grammar and writing style are evident of a first time author but I believe she would become better with more book.

Yours Legally by Sonia Sahijwani is a collection of short stories with law as the binding theme and I quite enjoyed it.

What made me grow fonder of the book was the author's introduction where she talks about her decision to pursue 'a legal career' and the stories that follow are non-fictional and true incidents that happened throughout the author's career.

Sahijwani makes sure we get to see the other side behind a lawyer's facade and with a primordial view of what happens inside the courts and so on. Through out the narrative, the author tries to assert the fact that lawyer's are infact humans and even though they are bound by the legalities of their occupation, they still are affected by emotions be it at the court or while upon a case.

What however didnot elude me was the fact that the stories, although distinct and complementary to each other didn't bind together as a collection and I could feel the loose threads! The author's writing is however flamboyant and I definitely enjoyed the stories individually!

“The law cannot fail in dispensing justice”

Book:- Yours Legally By Sonia Sahijwani (@sonyasahijwani )

Page count:- 118

Description:- It is a collection of short stories starring Sia,a young girl who decided to pursue graduation in law against her parent's wishes. She was new to all of this legal world as there was no one in her family who belonged to this background.

Through Sia,the protagonist, author shares some memorable incidents from the court. Its a book which makes the reader know more and more about court things. For the people who have never experienced anything about court, it could be thrilling experience for them. But those who know about legal careers, might relate.

My favorite story was 'The kid on the last bench'. It depicted an unsucessful marriage being discussed in the court.
'99 vs. Ninyanve' was a little bit confusing for me but at the end, I grasped everything.

Talking about the writing style,it was fantastic, simple and decent. The cover could have been better rather than just black.

Yours Legally is a collection of short stories based on author's law practice and her real life experiences. This short story collection is autobiographical as the stories are based on author's real life experiences but they are told through a fictional character named Sia.

This is a short book but it packs a lot of emotions in these short stories. These stories have courtroom drama and also offer insights into the legal profession. The writing style is effortlessly smooth and lucid and the language is simple and easy making this book beginner friendly.

All the short stories are very engaging to read. My favorite short story was the first one because it made me emotional and touched my heart. This book is short as it contains only six short stories but it leaves an impact on the reader. I enjoyed reading this short story collection. Kudos to the author for penning down these short stories beautifully!

It is a fictional short story of hardly 120 pages, but let me tell you the book will give you few moments to think on your own, by simply hinges on a single theme, packs in life lessons.

The book is all about Sia and her experiences after finishing her graduation in law against her parent's wishes. Without any family background in the legal profession, Sia decided to explore various opportunities which focus on some facets of this challenging profession as seen by the author, and maintained the sanity in this dynamic world. As our protagonist narrates some true events during her diverse experiences, we got a sneak peek into her working process as well.

There are six stories in total. Each story sets in today's time, and it can be considered as an eye opener of legal system. At the core of this book, there's something mysterious, something that makes you feel that you have seen in movies but not have been witnessed in reality.

There is a lot to absorb and process, as the story moves forward. That really got me thinking. Even I loved the way how the author narrated all the incidents of visiting an Indian Prisoner through the eyes of Sia. So the plot is crisp in most of the parts and a strong sense of relatability has give me more impact than anything else.

But the book is not flawless. I felt narration could have been much better and I must say, it needs little modification as well. To be honest, I liked the character of Sia but I wish it could have been more layered and detailed. In a nutshell, this kind of a book is really random yet significant.

I would recommend to someone who wants to know more about law and all legal stuffs.

"Yours Legally" is a collection of 6 inciting short stories written from the stance of Sia, a budding lawyer who tried out every possible training opportunity she could lay her hands on.
These 6 short stories are her diverse experience in the legal system which left a lasting mark on her.
This book has 6 elements viz the case, the court( judge), the counsel, the complainant, the criminal and these 6 short stories are divided as per the aforementioned elements.

Sonia has shown the real side of the Indian Legal system. With her words, the author will take you inside the system, you will visit the courts and Jail and the life of a lawyer.

Now you must be wondering that the theme of this book is law so it will definitely have legal parlance which will just go above your head, then my dear friend let me tell you that the author has interpreted each and every legal term in such a proficient manner that even a layman can easily understand it.

My personal favourite stories from this book are "The kid on the last bench" and "Qaidi no. 90". The first one is a courtroom drama where a hearing of a divorce case was scheduled and the wife brought her 4-year-old son along to use him as a pawn to tilt the case in her favour.
And in the second one, Sia got a chance to interact with a Prisoner in jail.

The writing style is remarkable. The cover of the book is accurate as black and white are the colours of law and Justice.
I think this book must be read by all those young people who want to make their career in law and also by those who are already in the profession.

The title of the book caught my attention. ‘Yours Legally’ by author Sonia Sahijwani is a collection of short stories that highlight the common theme of law and courthouse. The protagonist of the novel, Sia has recently finished her graduation in law against her parent's wishes. Despite with no absolute family background in the legal profession, she goes her away to explore the various opportunities in her upcoming field of law. The book is categorized in 6 different chapters and each clearly explains more about legal matters as well as events that are inspired from a courtroom.
Without showing any biased in the field of law, the book throws lights on the positive and negative side of a court and laws. The book is a simple read and anyone can read it without having the knowledge of the legal systems.

Yours legally by Sahijwani Sonia is a collection of short stories. This story revolves around the main protagonist Sia. Some children have to sacrifice their dreams because if family doesn't belong to that professional background, so they also don't go for it. Parent's always force their children to pursue that profession only which their family handles but this young girl sia pursued graduation in Law against her parent’s wishes. She sets out the journey to explore the various opportunities, where upcoming field of law brings her way.

A story of legal profession where our Indian judiciary system is perfectly portrayed. The story is inspired by some true events. Author has covered all the points on law. Sia being a trainee has narrated few memorable incidents and some court room dramas. All the characters were well maintained and Sia's character was strong and perfect. The narration was lucid. The cover and the title were apt.

Our law has a lot to tell but who don't know anything about legal profession neither heard about it can go for this book. Overall, it was a short and informative read and can be completed in one sitting.

Thankyou.

Yours Legally

It's a collection of short stories. The author here has narrated the story very vividly. All the stories are in relation to law. The protagonist here named as Sia has just completed LL.B, her parents were not favour of this profession though. She being a newbie in this court room drama have experienced a hell lot of ride which have been well described here in the stories. The book contains 6 stories, which are first hand experienced by the author herself. The stories will touched your heart because it will develop the feeling of humanity in you. The struggle and the hardships along with the pleasant and exciting journey of this challenging field have been well portrayed. The stories are some what inspiring but I was expecting more from it. There could have been added more elements into it. My favourite among the 6 stories are Behind those dark shades.

Being a law student I can totally relate with the terms mentioned here also with the situation and ordeals. But the stories are not difficult to read even for the ones who are not into the field of law because the language is easy and understandable. Those who want to have some knowledge and information regarding how a case takes place and how a court functions and the journey of a lawyer should definitely read this. Must recommend to those who are into this field. The cover and the title gives me the feeling of simple yet sophisticated, it has deeply maintained the decorum of law.

The book is a compilation of 6 short stories. It is the author's debut book. It is the story of a girl named Sia, who is a young lawyer. She does not know anyone in the legal profession. This book is her journey in the legal field. She shares her experience throughout her career.

We get to places where we might never reach in real life. We see that these places are nothing like how we see them in movies. Sia's biggest wish was to visit a jail (not for the wrong reasons). I enjoyed the chapters in which she visits the jail with her senior colleagues.

My favourite chapter was "Behind Those Dark Shades". It shows that when god takes away one sense from a person, he strengthens the other senses.

This is a book for people who want to understand the Indian law system better. It has both advantages and disadvantages of the India law.

If you work in the legal field, you can relate to the scenes in the book. If not, you can learn alot about the law system.

A fresh law graduate, Sia, escalating the arrays of her profession, incorporating the constants and indulging into the variables, narrates these juridical instances, at times vituperative, at times in all vivacity these narrative of numerous ( six to be precise) happening guide the readers into the realms of our legal proceedings. .
.

What's imaginative of the readers, and that which is bearing strokes close to the actual courtroom drama, is blended with the flow of impeccable timing and taste.
The Case, the court, the counsel, the complainant, the confinement and the criminal. Six short stories, all independent of each other, yet united in their scope and spirit. .
.

The language and the narrative enables the readers to smoothly navigate through this, some hurdles might be encountered but that won't stop you from praising the work. .
.

My rating: 3.8/5

Sia has recently finished her graduation in Law. She starts off by interning for Senior Lawyers and hardly gets noticed. Despite her struggles, she loves the trials and tribulations of the court.

The book is a comprises of 6 stories. They are fictional but they are inspired from real life stories and experiences of the author.

I liked the fresh perspective this book provided me. Reading about the dynamics of the Legal World' was definitely new and exciting for me. The stories were beautiful, especially 'The kid on the last bench'.

Language of the book is lucid. The book is narrated from the third person perspective. There were only a few editing errors and apart from them the book is great.I also read about the Author's Journey with this book and I'm glad her dream came true :)

Title: Yours Legally
Genre: Fiction
Author: Sonia Sahijwani
Publication: WorditCDE
My Rating: 3 stars

Yours Legally revolves around the life of the protagonist Sia who is a young lawyer inspired by the true events in the life of the author. It is about the life of a Sia speaking about a day, weeks, months and years of being in the profession of law through the lens of her eyes. This book is an easy read taking you through six short stories not connected to each other except the titles namely the Case, the Court, the Counsel, the Complainant, the Confinement and the Criminal, six important elements that are tied to a common thread in any case.

This book takes you through a lot of courtroom drama and enlightens the reader about the court of law which is way different from what one sees in TV shows and movies. It is as realistic as it can get and urges the reader to believe in the law. In each story Sia tells the readers her unique experiences being an intern or an employee of a law firm or being associated to an NGO organization.

Starting in a queue,
The Complainant: The courtroom does not discriminate. It does not see age, gender or status. It can summon you when a valid case is filed. This story revolves around a property dispute and how even the oldest member is not spared.
The Court: When relationships go astray, the child suffers the most. He/she is the one who faces the courtroom melodrama at such a tender age. Parents in the quest to win cases pressurize their children to be a part of this melodrama. This is one such story.
The Case: Case hearings can be frustrating at times when the wait is uncertain. Believe it or not, but junior lawyer’s do resort to pass times like reading novels, etc. knowing when the wait is long. What’s more frustrating is when you get the much awaited summon, things don’t go your way.
The Counsel: In this story Sia shares her encounter with a disabled lawyer whose sixth sense is so sharp that she is stumped over. We normal human beings are so caught up in trivial issues that often such disabled people become a lesson for us.
The Confinement: A young lawyer’s dream is to visit the prison. The reader may wonder is that even a place to be? But that is the fact of a lawyer’s life and somehow the author’s (Sia) excitement met no bounds when she got the opportunity to visit one. In this story, she takes you through the prison environment which is so not like what we see in movies.
The Criminal: This is an encounter with a criminal whom Sia interviews among all the other criminals during her visit to the prison. This particular criminal strikes a chord with her and she ponders on the fact that criminals do get accustomed to prison life and their family life also goes on and she goes on to make a memory of this visit for the rest of her life.

The cover is beautiful and very apt. The con of this book is that there is a lot of grammatical and spelling errors which are not acceptable as it breaks the flow of reading. While I understand authors cannot always approach big publishing houses and shell so much money and also there is no guarantee that big publishing houses will accept their manuscript. It is my sincere request, please edit your manuscript yourself or pay some extra bucks to a professional so that you are not judged on your language skills and thought of to be lazy.
