Oliver Napoleon Hill was an American self-help author and conman. He is best known for his book Think and Grow Rich (1937), which is among the best-selling self-help books of all time. Hill's works insisted that fervid expectations are essential to improving one's life. Most of his books were promoted as expounding principles to achieve "success".
Hill is a controversial figure. Accused of fraud, modern historians also doubt many of his claims, such as that he met Andrew Carnegie and that he was an attorney.

A lot of the material here overlaps with his later work (particularly Think & Grow Rich), but there are some valuable new details, and even what's repeated mostly bears repeating.[return][return]The principles covered in this final volume include cooperation, profiting by failure, tolerance, and the Golden Rule. The first two are especially good, and for more on cooperation, check out Peter Thiel's Zero to One, and for more on profiting by failure, see Ryan Holiday's The Obstacle is the Way. Hill's treatment of the last two principles is a bit more mixed and gets a bit bogged down with some confused religious ideas (as suggested by his use of the Golden Rule as one of his most important principles of success). But still, the discerning reader can ignore what doesn't work and find much of value here.[return][return]This edition ends with the Universal Law, which is again a somewhat mixed but still potentially invaluable discussion of developing habits of thought to make success almost inevitable. This provides a nice summation of all the preceding principles of the course (hence why it's called the universal law). If you enjoyed Think & Grow Rich, this is definitely worth reading to supplement and enhance that material.[return][return]http://www.amazon.com/review/R3743BJX...
