Of course I enjoyed this. 😁 I mean fated mates, a baby and Mpreg and a sassy omega .. what’s not to love? 😉 Plus, my favorite John Solo is the narrator so it’s all win for me. 💜

When his best friend Caroline suddenly passed away in a car accident, Winter found himself being left with Caroline’s newborn baby. He’s beyond sad and anguished but he’ll do everything in his power to take care and cherish this baby. And then, Creed came knocking into his life. The younger brother of Caroline’s husband who also passed away in the unfortunate car accident, Creed came back from the early to take custody of the little bundle from Winter. But then they are fated mates. Things seem to all work out in the beginning. Fated mates, an adorable baby and booming business but darkness is lurking in the corner waiting for a chance to destroy the newfound family’s happiness. Will Creed and Winter get their happily ever after?

I liked that there are lots of twists and turns in the story because I had no idea who the villain was. 😳 I loved the romance and the fated mate trope but it’s interesting and lovely to see some fresh mystery/thriller aspect in it. Needless to say, Creed and Winter were so hot together 🔥 and the epilogue was lovely. All in all, a really enjoyable audio. I loved listening this. 😌

Bitty and disjointed with a strangely paced narrative, this one wasn't for me.

It's an omegaverse insta love and personally, with a bit of polish, it would have had more stars from me.

The two main characters were likeable enough, but there's a bizarre suspense plot which comes out of left field at the 60% ish mark and it didn't work for me at all.

There's some odd tense choices at times as well but the updated ARC I had did correct a lot of the grammatical errors from the first file.

This is only the second book I've read from this author so I can't compare with all their other work but I don't think this narrative style works for me personally.

If you like all the usual trope elements found in an omegaverse romance, you may find this works better.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

It was heartbreaking to see Winter lose his bestfriend Caroline and her mate Richard. But Winter has their son Conner to raise and take care of so he still has a little part of them. What Winter doesn't expect, is that Richard's brother Creed is his mate. Creed finds out two weeks after their death that it happened but since he is so close to being discharged, he is able to leave early and makes his way home. When he first meets Winter, he is such a nasty idiot and thinks he is just going to come in & take Conner away from Winter. Well Winter is having none of it. But when they finally realize they are both on the same side & wants only the best for Conner, the also give into the pull of their mating bond. As they are working on getting to know each other & bond, Creed finds out that maybe the accident that killed Caroline & Richard might not have been an accident. So now Creed & his buddy Riley, who is also a former hook-up when they just needed the itch to be scratched while they were in the service, are trying to figure out what happened. I figured out who was behind it but not the reasoning why. I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to read Riley & Terry's story.

Very sweet story with little angst. I needed something light and this filled the bill. John Solo is an excellent narrator and he made the book even more enjoyable. There’s a small mystery, but mostly it’s an Alpha and his Omega finding each other.

Wow! This story packed a punch and so much more than what the blurb made me expect going into it, I really enjoyed Winter and Creed - their chemistry was excellent, the romance and the mpreg elements were spot on, and there was some nice unexpected action and suspense!

Winter's best friend, Caroline, and her husband are killed in a car crash, making him the guardian for their newborn son, Connor. Caroline's brother, Creed, has been away serving in the military and has come to the end of his enlistment when he discovers that his brother and the wife he never met were killed and that he has a nephew.

At first, Winter and Creed figure that they just have to figure out a way to make things work - Winter deserves to be part of Connor's life. But they also quickly realize that they are mates - and yum, the snark and distrust quickly turns into lust and desire.

So along with the both of them trying to figure out how to raise a baby, there's a surprise pregnancy, some action and news that their friends' deaths might not be as accidental as they had originally thought, and also a pretty great set up for the next story in the series - Give me Riley and Terry's story!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

It was supposed to be a quick and smutty read after some more intense, emotional books I've recently read.
And I liked the growly, possessive Alpha and the mouthy, sweet Omega with a sweet little kid in between. The instant-lust, instant-mating plot was very OK.

I could do without the whodunnit sub-plot, though. It was OTT and probably served only as an introduction to prospective future pairings (As it's supposed to be a series? I think?).

I guess I should stick to my favourite, failproof, short form authors for my next quick, in-between, MM read...

Winter’s Promise by Giovanna Reaves
Rating: 3 stars
I liked this book well enough, I just felt it had some problems. First of which it needed to be proofread. Note to authors: You need more than spellcheck to proof your work, especially when autocorrect puts in the wrong word. It also had one of my least favorite tropes: The Big Misunderstanding. In this case Winter and Creed didn’t talk for two weeks. Seemed an excessive long time for them to be mad at each other and Winter’s insistence that Creed be the first one to apologize was a bit immature. Finally, it was predictable. Start to finish. So while I thought it was okay, it had a few too many issues for me to rate it higher.

**Audiobook Review**

A tragedy led to a wonderful pairing of two men and a lovely baby. The romance was nice and I enjoyed the mystery thrown in to solve. Limited suspects but guessing who the culprit kept this somewhat of a page turner even though I was listening to the audio. The narration was great. I would love to see more of these characters in future books.

This is a heartwarming story about the loyalty of friends and family, the making of a family in a non-traditional manner, and the trials of finding balance in a new relationship. These characters, Winter and Creed, as well as their close group of friends, are all well written with distinct personalities. Each shows their strengths and weaknesses as they deal with betrayal, intrigue, danger, and miscommunication. A well thought out plot, action and a mystery, and characters you will become invested in.

Grieving causes our emotions to spiral in many different directions. There is the hurt of losing someone special. There is the anger that this person was taken from you. There is the denial that the person is no longer with you. There is the dread of the rest of your life no longer having that person in it.

And when there is more than one death the hurt is compounded. Then to make matters worse a child - a tiny baby is the only surviving member of a cherished family. You are tasked with caring for this precious bundle whose arrival was supposed to be so joyous, but who came into the world under very tragic circumstances.

A promise made in the midst of grief is still a heartfelt promise nonetheless of great sincerity. What happens when someone comes along and threatens to take away that precious little boy that you have been caring for with all your heart and soul? The only way that you have been able to manage your grief is because he is there in your arms needing your love and attention.

But if there is someone else who has suffered a loss equal to your own? How can you deny him something that is equally as precious to him as the young baby is to you? And with the tangled web of emotions that grief causes it's hard to distinguish which are your true feelings.

This is the first book of the Captured Heart series. There is so much going on under the surface and it takes the combined efforts of several people to get to the bottom of a mystery, a conspiracy, an emotional wrecking ball. The characters themselves pull you into the story and you find yourself wanting them to realize the possibility of a happy future in the midst of a grieving present.

I really enjoyed Giovanna Reeves story and am looking forward to reading the next books in this series. I have no idea what direction it will take, but I look forward to whatever occurs. I expect there to be excitement, action, and a revisiting of the characters that are in this book.

What a feel good book! Gia has outdone herself. You are pulled in from page one, rushing headlong toward the final HEA. The characters are full of life, the world is vibrant. There is drama, misunderstandings, humor, deceit, loyal friends, jealousy and steamy sex. Oh, and lots of love. And babies. Did I forget to mention babies?
Winter always wanted to be a father. He just didn't think he would become one because his best friend Caroline died, along with her husband Richard, leaving her newborn son to him. With her dying breath she makes Winter promise to care for him. Connor quickly becomes Winter's world, and he will fight with all he is to keep him. Creed is Richard's brother. Receiving the news of Richard and Caroline's deaths just before starting his terminal leave from Special Forces, he rushes home to save his nephew from what he believes will be foster care. When Winter and Creed meet, he realizes a few things. Winter will never let Connor go; and that Winter is his true mate. Richard and Caroline's will gives them both joint custody of Connor. So things appear to be going their way.
You will both laugh and cry as the two men learn the ins and outs of fatherhood. The "first bath" sequence is priceless. Add to this a surprise pregnancy, and they may get more than they bargained for.
There is drama. Richard and Caroline's deaths may not be accidental. Shady business deals complicate matters. Friends are not always what they seem to be. In the end, the bad guys get what's coming to them. And after all the trials, HEA is achieved.
This book contains adult themes, language, and MM sex, and is intended for mature 18+ readers only.

I really love Omegaverse books because you know there are certain dynamics like instalove and dominate/less dominant characters. This one has two men who are compassionate “do-ers.” They do what is needed in their own ways. The one thing that still bugs me is Caroline’s physical differences. I couldn’t tell if they meant she was overweight or maybe have boy and girl parts? I’m not sure.

So when Creed, Mr. badass extraordinaire, learns his nephew is parent-less, he jumps into action. Like Winter, he is grieving and is ready to protect his nephew, Connor. He wants to love and raise the baby and is totally ready in spirit. Winter is the same except he is actually doing it. Not doing it as well as he hoped, but he is making it work.

I smiled over Creed’s ability to be a real alpha. His job is to nurture and protect and boy howdy does he get to do that. Being Win’s mate made it even better because Win is not a pushover. The unexpected plot twist was great! I love suspense and getting to see Creed do his thing was fun.

Scorching hot smexy scenes, pheromones flying, alphas, babies and intrigue. Whew! Good stuff.

I would have given this 4 stars, but the Advanced reader copy still needed proofreading and that was really distracting.

I enjoyed the My One-Night Stand series and have stopped by and paid homage to Vale Valley. But I was unprepared for Winter's Promise. I love surprises and this one came at me with a teaser.

I enjoyed the romance of Winter and Creed, short term animosity that quickly turned to lust at first sight. They were fated to raise a child together, and once the men decided they were all in, they now had to figure out what happened to their best friend and brother when the clues started adding up.

The mystery was an enhancement of the story and I liked the way it played out.

An unusual genre for me, a romance, yes, male pregnancy, well, not so much. Winter certainly has a lot to deal with suddenly when news arrives, that his best friends have been in an accident and the doctors have only just been able to save their newborn. Legal documents name him and the husband's younger brother as guardians of any children. When Creed finally gets news of his brother's death, he's still on deployment and several days behind the development.  Arriving on Winter's doorstep, neither expected that there would be anything between them other than their shared obligations to the baby, Conner. Little did they know what fate awaited them in that meeting. An interesting concept, certainly, a little careful editing would fix some minor technical glitches, but generally very readable and enjoyable.

Entertaining and captivating!!! Turmoil of emotions

I assured you, this is a rollercoaster of emotions. I am NOT a crying reader's. But jeez, those few chapters (5% to 20%) make me so much cry, the grief, the despair, the only one to lean on is each other and a baby.

They begin to be a couple very very soon and all things goes well, everyone is somewhat happy as far as possible.. I was wondering what the author would fill the rest of the book, seriously it could have end at the beginning but OMG 53% the TWIST, the drama, I want to know more!!!! Oh the feeling at 93%.

The word was flowing on my page, I stay very captive in this trope, its never boring. I really like it.

Recommend 100%.

And I so want to know what happen to the other couple. (Finger cross for the next book)

Winter's Promise is a fun Omegaverse romance by Giovanna Reaves.

Brought together by the death of Creed's brother and Winter's best friend, these two men discover they're fated mates.

Winter's devotion to baby Connor is commendable and just downright swoon worthy. But the connection between Winter and Creed is downright hot! These two are definitely a great couple who know how to sizzle.

Their story consists of guilt and grief, jealousy, hot sex and a mystery. The suspense is well developed, and definitely fun. I was kept guessing to the end.

I enjoy the talk of expectations and obligations; an alpha with a beta? I'm hoping this leads to a fun book in the series.

Overall, I enjoyed Winter's Promise and am excited to read more of this series by Giovanna Reaves.

It could have been really good but it ended up being disappointing.
The story was not what I was expecting (because apparently I cannot read a blurb properly!) and what I was wanted! The first half was quite good and if the whole book had been only about two strangers finding they're are mates while taking care of a baby and trying to live again through their grief, I would have enjoyed it way more. The story would maybe have been given more time to breath and develop more organically. Here, I found everything to be too disjointed-especially the second half of the book where it felt like a bad soap opera/telenovela. I was rolling my eyes so hard.

A very well written story of two people facing life-changing events amidst trying to navigate a newly established relationship.
Both the MCs and secondary characters are intriguing and multi-dimensional, with plenty of details to create a comprehensive story. The plot was surprising and really invited to turn the pages onwards.
A great addition to the mpreg genre. Can't wait for the next story in the series :)

One thing I love about Giovanna Reaves’ books is that her characters always find their way into my heart and Winter and Creed were no exception. My heart broke for them and Conner. Their ages and life choices was also a plus for me. It made it easier for me to connect and follow their thought processes. I can’t wait for Riley’s book. The series that hooked me Good was Vale Valley and I can see this one further cementing my love of all things Giovanna Reaves.

"They connected from the first moment time that ..." "You know if you won't wake Connor if you turn the volume up ..." "Yeah, but I'm used to my sleep bring fucked up..."
I will stop here. I don't want to quote the whole book.

Botched work = Low rating. It's that simple. Writing a book is as wonderful as polishing a gem. I don't see the reason why I'd be moved by a book that's thrown to the readers as if it were in fire. Would it have burned your fingers, Author, if you kept it some more time to yourself to perfect it and correct the loads of typos?

Creed and Winter

Winter’s best friend, Caroline, and her husband, Richard, have an horrific car crash and both die as a result. Winter is left holding their baby until Richard’s brother turns up expecting to take the baby and leave.
Winter soon makes him aware, in no uncertain terms, that is not going to happen.
Creed and Winter soon come to an agreement concerning the baby but soon their close proximity has them figuring out they are fated mates.

It was an interesting story, with a surprising twist at the end. The romance... it had its highs and lows. I liked when Winter tried to step away from his role, but apparently the author has a thing for the all 'little omega' that I really, really dislike.

I might try another book in this series, as the storyline is great, as it is the plot, and the writing is also good.

John Solo keeps doing a great job with the narration.

This is another wonderful book by Giavanna Reaves that has a surprise ending. I love how she keeps me on my toes. With the sudden death of his brother, Creed found himself not only in front of his nephew's guardian, but his mate, Winter. What were the fates thinking? This book is full of mystery and hot claiming sex, friends you treated like family and a cute baby, only to discover your reality has been turned upside down. I recommend this book and look forward to book 2.

Following much of the standard mpreg romance this book had a slightly different style - less pathos (still some though), better communication, and some mystery that takes a bit of time. The MCs were well sketched and characterised. I would definitely listen to another book by this author. An easy listen.

Narrated by John Solo - excellent.

An orphaned baby

What a sweet story with a mystery thrown in. Winter's best friend and her mate have been killed in an accident, leaving him as the guardian of their newborn. He certainly didn't expect to meet his mate in the other named guardian, the unknown uncle of the baby. A love at first site tale.
