This was a fun lighthearted romcom with a cast of delightful characters. Jen isn’t necessarilg living her best life, but she’s living a life she’s comfortable with. She doesn’t have a dream job, but she has a job that she’s good at. Her boyfriend/fiancé doesn’t make her swoon, but he’s reliable. Jen however has a different side to her as well. She is a little quirky, a lot opinionated, and she has a passion for brewing beer. When Jen’s sister Lydia plans a surprise trip to Copenhagen, a dream holiday for Jen, she finds her life turned upside down. When she is trying to rescue her cell phone from the canal she ends up falling in and is rescued herself by a handsome Dane. They end up spending a magical evening together and he does make Jen swoon. So what happens when Jen returns home?

I truly love this book there was such charm to this story. However, The blurb is a little misleading. The events are not in the correct order. Jen got engaged and then went to Denmark where she meant this handsome stranger. SO let’s call a spade a spade, Jen cheated on boring Robert. AND your fiancé being boring is NOT a valid reason to cheat on him, if you’re bored get out! Sorry, I have strong feelings on this, and I was so torn in this book because I really like Jen and I really did not like her with Robert. Completely understood and empathize with Jen’s sister Lydia. Lydia was a fabulous character, she was so strong, had so much heart, and she was such an amazing support to her sister. I’d have to say I’d absolutely love a follow-up to this book that features Lydia, loved her! I truly thought I knew where this book was going, but then it took a bit of a swerve that I truly thought was perfection.

Pirnelle Hughes has written an exceptional romcom. The perfect balance of humor, family, friendship, and love. And if it weren’t for the cheating I would have given this book a full five stars, but that is a trigger for me, so sorry. But just like you can love a book full of characters you don’t like, you can also love a book where characters do things you don’t like. Simply put this was a lovely romcom that made me want to visit Denmark and have a beer! 🍻

Favorite Quotes:

“This ring was my great-grandmother’s, on Mumsie’s side,” he explained, plucking it off her palm as she stared shell-shocked at him, “apparently, it hasn’t seen daylight since the undertakers took it off her finger and handed it to my granny … Oh. It’s too big.” Great-granny must have had salamis for fingers, the ring would have fallen freely off Jen’s thumb.

I should wash your mouth out with soap. This is a haven of romance and dreams. Shame on you. I’m going to fill this space with old romance novels to ward off your bad vibes.

Ava’s mother, though short, filled the entire width of the doorway. Her penchant for floral two-pieces did nothing to lessen this spatial illusion, whilst also making her look like a walking sofa. Her enormous blonde curls were immaculately dyed and set, and doubled the size of her head, which might have appeared comical, had it not perfectly matched the size of each of her huge boobs. Height aside, everything about her shouted Big Personality and she hadn’t even opened her mouth yet. Jen braced herself.

Right now she was a cocktail of emotions. The Molotov kind.

My Review:

I giggle-snorted with glee at Ms. Hughes generous servings of clever levity and highly amusing storylines, although I struggled more than a bit with her profoundly flawed, ridiculously inflexible, and greatly annoying main character or Jen, who really needed a kick in the arse. Jen was a pragmatic list maker and control freak whose issues and acquired traits created a considerable conflict for me, yet it was ultimately an enjoyable one with a satisfactory evolution.

Ms. Hughes’s characters were uniquely intriguing and enticingly quirky. I was highly entertained and engaged throughout by her witty and creative use of humorous insights and observations. Thankfully, Jen didn’t actually require a surgical procedure to fully dislodge her deeply wedged cranium from her posterior region, although she did require a considerable helping of misery and comeuppance to work it clear on her own.

5☆ Uplifting, Fun, Feel Good Rom Com!

Probably the Best Kiss in the World is a heart warming and fun Rom Com, that will sweep you along.

Jen is stuck in a rut without really knowing she's in one.
Jen has raised her sister Lydia since a tragic accident left her sister disabled and lead to her parents death.
The only stable thing in her life is her dependable boyfriend Robert. Well that is until he proposes to her and threatens their safe relationship.

So doing what any good sister would do, they bundle Jen with a sack over her head and prepare her for a mapcap Hen Do in Copenhagen.
Lydia doesn't think Jen should be settling for Robert, she believes she needs more fun!

But can Copenhagen offer Jen a new outlook on life?
Will she go back home ready to settle for the dependable Robert?
Or will the magic of Copenhagen and a sexy stranger offer her a chance of happiness and romance?

I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting read, it's a wonderful story of taking risks, Friendship, sibling bonds, finding love, discoveries and new beginnings.
Filled with plenty of mishaps, mayhem, a few juicy twists, laugh out loud moments, romance and beer!
The Characters are strong, relatable and I loved Jen and Lydia's bond, it warmed my heart and reminded me of me and my Lil Sis.
Lydia is a strong and inspiring character and it made such a refreshing change to have a disabled character represented with such passion and zest for life. For this I thank you!

Probably the Best Kiss in the World is an uplifting, feel good Rom Com that I highly recommend.
I'm looking forward to reading more from
Pernille Hughes, she is definitely going on my to watch out for list!

Sweet, sassy, and inspiring!

Probably the Best Kiss in the World is a thoughtful, heartfelt tale about rediscovering one’s self, taking chances, following your dreams, and the special bond between sisters.

The writing is witty and light. The characters are quirky, dependable, and endearing. And the plot is a funny, engaging tale full of friendship, family, self-reflection, determination, independence, happiness, humorous mishaps, romantic moments, and an in-depth look into all the intricacies of craft beer making.

Overall, Probably the Best Kiss in the World is a passionate, delightfully heartwarming tale that reminds us that sometimes things happen for a reason and if we stay open-minded, and believe in ourselves anything is possible.

Thank you to Pernille Hughes, HarperImpulse and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is for you if… you couldn't possibly be more bored and are in desperate need of a somewhat generic but mildly thought-provoking and sometimes even funny Chick-Flick.

⇝Overall.
I still very much remember contemplating whether or not to request this book. I didn't feel touched. Not a bit. Neither by the many positive reviews nor the synopsis itself. But because the rating was so terrific, I decided to trust Goodreads on this one and requested it. Well, if only I hadn't.

I found absolutely nothing remarkable in this book apart from way Lydia's story is told. She is the heroine's younger sister and lost a leg in a car accident almost 10 years ago. Although Jen despises the way other people treat Lydia because of the lack of leg (ha-ha), she herself can't help but hold her protecting hands over her sister all the time. Lydia feels smothered most of the time because what Jen does to "protect" her sister is neither reasonable nor fair. This aspect of the story felt very well depicted and real.

Apart from that, I was mainly bored by the pace this plot unravelled at - it was slooooow. Extremely so. My lack of excitement paired up with my lack of relatable feelings for the romance between Jen and Jakob. Both of these points of criticism played together and almost made me quit around 50% but I really wanted to know whether this book would pick up sometime between then and the end. Spoiler alert: it didn't. This is especially funny because the main character, Jen, brings up this really interesting concept of The six Ps: >>Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.<<

I'm torn between saying "It's me" and sticking up for my confidence. I can't picture a scenario in which I would recommend this to anybody out of nowhere. If somebody were to openly gush about ChitLit I myself would deem rather boring, then I'd mabye bring it up.

➺What’s happening.
Jen just accepted her boyfriend's proposal and finds peace in the knowledge that her future is safe and well planned out, just like she likes to run her life (and her sister's). Jen purposely ignores the disrespectful way in which her fiancé meets her hobbies and passions, personal interests and wishes. She turns a blind eye on the exhausting family she's going to marry into and her happiness in general. And believe me, that mother in law of hers is a total nightmare.
She'd assumed she was marrying Robert, not his mother.

Lydia, Jen's sister, knows that Jen is not acting in her best interest and organizes spontaneous hen-do during in the hopes of getting her out of her trot. And she succeeds. Jen finds herself getting pulled out of the canals of Copenhagen by a very handsome Scandinavian man named Yacob/Jakob.
On the deck, her eyes met with a pair of bare feet, travelled up the blond-haired legs to baggy navy cargo shorts via the bare torso, to wow, back to the torso because ripped, and then reluctantly further on to the face.

Supposedly they feel an instant attraction to each other (I couldn't tell, I didn't even get a fraction of that) and share a very passionate kiss. Jen can't stop thinking about him even after she's returned to her smalltown-home in Great Britain no matter her determination to carry on with the original plans.

It would probably have been the best book if it is not for the hugely annoying heroine. Yes, I am being harsh. There is no rule which says that the protagonist needs to be perfect. But being narrow-minded, I found her a constant eyesore in an otherwise perfect book. Overprotectiveness, stupidity, pure judgement of character -- Jen Attison can be summarised this way. I am not saying that my moral compass is pointed exactly to north, but betraying your fiance is a mistake in bold letters in my book. That was wrong to both men.
So, of course, I wanted to wrangle her neck . . . until the last chapter. The author has wrapped it up unexpectedly well with Jen realising her mistakes and giving room to others that it was hard to stay angry on her. What a perfect ending! Not only for the protagonist but to everyone involved. As far as rom-coms go, this is one of the best.
Oh! I am almost carried away by my ranting. Let's have a look at the premise. Our Jen is a brewer, a unique one for a woman. This has been new territory for me and I enjoyed all the talks on beer and brewing. Then there is Lydia, the physically challenged sister. If it is not for her, I would have thought that the story is anti-feministic. She is an inspiration to all to take life by its horns. I am sure you must have earned multitudes of fans by now and I am counting myself as one among them.
Altogether, a delectably put together feast for all book lovers. Highly recommended!

This book is so cute! I really enjoyed reading it.

Briefly, our main character is Jen. Jen is likable and quite easy to relate to. She works in a job that she doesn't really like while her real passion lies with beer brewing. This is quite a nice change, I haven't come across a book that focuses on that. Jen is also engaged to man that is dependable yet quite boring. When she goes to Copenhagen, she meets a hot and mysterious stranger and yep, things happen from that point.

So when it comes to the plot, there's something quite predictable. We've all read books like this in the genre. However, the writing style is so refreshing. The characters are so genuine that I was at the edge of my seat, even if I had felt I could predict the ending.

The best part is that I couldn't! I was surprised by parts of the ending. Even if this book sticks to the conventions of the genre (no threesome, as I'd hoped), it's definitely a fun read that offers some new perspectives. It works well and has a great flow to it. There's a lot of humor and a nice pacing.

I loved that the focus of this book wasn't romance. Jen's dreams as well as her relationship with her sister Lydia take up more room. It was very well crafted. This book is so sweet and yet manages to give off a serious message about what love should be (be it romantic love or sisterly love).

I saw a lot of myself in Lydia. I felt like her character was well done. Amputees will have to speak up about the accuracy of her character but as a younger sibling, I can say that she is perfectly written. I've given my sister the exact same speeches about love, I've stormed out of arguments in the exact same way, I tease my sister exactly like that.

The parts set in Copenhagen were cute. I was in Copenhagen last month. The fact that Jen met a friendly Dane is already somewhat impressive but yeah, I liked the chemistry between them.

Man, this book made me crave a beer. I wish I understood beers as much as Jen, like that is such a cool thing to know.

All in all, if you're up for a fun romantic comedy, this is a perfect read for you!

What I'm Taking With Me
- Spreadsheets are life.
- Why don't I have a hygge-ish boat?
- This is such a lively book, it really flows out so well.

ARC for an honest review.

This amazing novel is about finding love even when you don't think you need it. Jen and Lydia are sister and make the story even more amazing with the banter that comes from their friendship. It made me wish I had a sister to take care of me the way Jen does for Lydia. Brewing also was a major part of this amazing book, even though I think there was a little too much of it in the dialogue I understood why it was there. Jen makes some amazing growth over the entire story which made me think that you are never stuck in one place even if it feels like it at the time. Jen was able to continue her dreams and figure out who was in her life for the right reasons. That seems to be something I need to learn as well and this story helped me with that.

I have to agree with the title, that almost certainly was Probably The Best Kiss in the World for Jen, after all she has been in a relationship for most of her adult life with a man that doesn't give her any excitement or passion.

So when she finds there is even some attraction to the Danish hunk that fishes her out of a canal, which she fell into saving her mobile phone, her life goes a bit into free-fall.

Jen loves control and to do lists, she has every second of a day mapped out, and hates the unexpected, so for her meeting Jakub isn't exactly in her life plan. After all she has a boyfriend, who she could be engaged to - but it is when she can't bring herself to start lists on her new wedding app, that the reader gets an inkling things aren't quite right.

What I loved about Jen was her true passion, which is for craft beer, and you get to know a fair bit about it. I don't think I've read a book where craft beer and brewing plays such a large part before, but it was incredibly welcome.

However as much as I enjoyed reading about Jen, it was the insights into her sister Lydia that added another dimension to this story. Without giving anything away I will say that Lydia is an inspiration, and the tragic happening in the sisters past has shaped everything about their current character traits.

From the first few pages I knew I would enjoy this, from the funny start, to the company that Jen works for - again definitely not read a main character that is in charge or marketing incontinence pads before! In fact Jen is just rather unique and every time I had to put the book down due to real life I did so with a smile on my face and a yearning to continue.

This is the second book I've now read from Pernille Hughes and it is just a great as the first. If you are looking for a wonderful rom-com, that also had a few surprises in it, then this is definitely worth a read.

Many thanks to Harper Impulse and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was a sweet read..a little stretchy but it had it's heart in the right place..

It's possible that since I am from a totally different geography, I might not relate to their way of speaking. I get the sentiments, but not the words. This story was very mild and light hearted, follow your passion, break free from safe and boring..and all that. The pace was a little slow for my liking, and since it was also angst-less, it made very less impact on me. Lydia's character was well very written and I enjoyed reading the banter of the sisters. Alice, the mature friend was also a very good addition to the story. We get to see very little of Jakob and their chemistry although good, comes sparingly.

Robert's character although expected to be boring, was way beyond boring and self centered. I expected a little more a fight from him, but he was hardly bothered. Goes to show how wrong he is for Jen, but still a little bit disappointed. I liked how Jen and Lydia made up. On the whole, a decent read, but left me wanting more passion or feelings.

The best aspect of this story was however, Jen's beer passion and I loved reading how it all came to be. The names of the flavors were awesome and they did so much justice to what she was feeling at that time. I wish we could get a glimpse into Attison Brewery's future.

You are convinced you are in a good place, but suddenly something happens and you see what you have been missing without realizing it. Time to turn your life around and go for what you want the most, right? Of course it is, but nobody told you it was going to be easy.

Being in any kind of relationship means not trying to control the other person, because caring is not synonym to making all the decisions. You mean well, but never do to someone what you do not like someone doing to you.

It's very clear that life is not a bed of roses, but talking and not sulking is the way to go.

A lovely story about finding true love and your true goal in life. 4 stars.

Thank you, Pernille Hughes and Rachel's Random Resources.

Having never read anything from this author before, I was very eager to get stuck in!!
Jen has a very boring, mundane life and when a hen-do trip to Copenhagen sparks something within her, she begins to question everything she thinks she knows about herself.
I loved reading this book & everything about it & I thought that Pernille Hughes has written the perfect romcom, that has the most perfect balance of love, humour, friendship and family.
I loved all the characters, the main ones and the supporting ones were also amazing, especially Celia - she reminded me of a real-life Hyacinth Bucket!!!
This book had me laughing a lot and I would highly recommend it!

Firstly, I just want to talk about the title! Yes, the title!! To non-Danes this might not mean a lot, but I believe Pernille is doing some word play on the Danish beer giant Carlsberg and their slogan: "PROBABLY THE BEST BEER IN THE WORLD". I also believe that their logo, a crown, is behind the name of the factitious brew giant "Kronegaard" in the book (krone means crown in Danish). Clever and fun puns, what can I say, I love it!!!

Now on to what is probably one of the funniest and cutest books I've read in a long time!! In true RomCom & ChickLit style the main characters meet under awkward circumstances, and share instant chemistry. What sets this book apart is that it focuses on different love, apart from the obvious romance. There's the love between Jen and her sister Lydia - who shows us that while love does hurt, it can indeed conquer everything most things.

I think what I like the most, is also why I struggled with the first 30% of the book!! Jen is not just flawed and quirky - she's obnoxious egocentric. And my personal pet peeve: she's a cheater. Even when she claims not to think about it, or try to avoid the ugly truth, she cheats on her fiance.

But all her annoying ways are redeemed when I realised that she's created that way on purpose. We're not talking about an author who doesn't know what she's doing, or fails at making an endearing character. It's all part of her master plan, and it works. I had my doubts, but once I caught on I started to fall in love with all the characters. Flaws and all.. So if you're looking for a meet-cute story and want to learn more about the Danish culture along the way, I'll definitely recommend this book that will have you swoon and want to meet a Danish guy of your own.

This story is probably one of the best RomComs in the World, IMHO! It is a heartwarming story filled with great characters, romance and laughter - I really didn't want to put it down!

Jen Attison was responsible for bringing up her younger sister, Lydia, including making life-changing decisions about her treatment, after she was seriously injured in a tragic accident will killed their parents. Jen has always like life to be organised and safe since the accident. She has a job she finds boring, a boyfriend who epitomises safe and he plans for them to get married soon.

Lydia is secretly rebellious - a real dare-devil determined to make the most of life despite being an amputee. I have to say I really admired Lydia for her determination and bravery - she's an inspirational young lady! Lydia doesn't like the idea of Jen marrying Robert and makes plans to take Jen to Denmark for her hen party. Jen is a talented brewer, winning prizes in local contests and having her own, small brewery in their back garden. A holiday in Denmark and the opportunity to visit brewers there is a dream come true for Jen. What she didn't anticipate was falling into a canal there and being rescued by a handsome, attractive man who is anything but boring! Should she keep to the safe, secure way or take a chance for once?

This is a lovely story of sibling relationships, daring to dream and taking chances as well of romance. The characters are easy to relate to and I particularly liked how they developed through the story. There are plenty of surprises in store for readers as the twists and turns of this story keep you guessing. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments with more serious ones interspersed as Jen has choices to make that will affect the rest of her life but there's also a revelation to be made that could scupper all her dreams.....

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and have no hesitation in highly recommending it. I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

What the heck is a brewster? Read Probably The Best Kiss In The World for an answer. It's a story about the struggle to not be a control freak. Let it go! Let it go! Jen, the heroine, does the letting go of a job, a guy. Jen is a puzzling character. One on hand, I'm sympathetic about her situation and what she's trying to do. But, on the other hand--actually, if I'm being honest, I want to use this hand to slap her. Jen has annoying tendencies to say the least. The brewing and beer part of the story of Jen's life is really interesting and totally unique. Denmark is a spectacular setting, and I loved everything about it. As romcoms go, this one is in the middle. It's a cute fun story with unique aspects. But, it's not my favorite either, although I did enjoy it. I'm just saying I have read some I liked better, and I think it's simply a matter of personal preference. Overall, I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys romcoms. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I love the writing style of this book. There’s something lovely and refreshing about it, it’s lovely and light, but also keeps the reader hooked from the very first page.

In this book you also have some really lovely characters. That you always cheer along and want the best for.

In this book we meet Jen. Whose life is good, she has a nine to five job that she doesn’t really like but it pays the bills, but at home Jen makes her own beer, she sells it at craft fairs and local markets and dreams of making it a full time living, she also lives with her sister, whom she worries about constantly. Since their parents passed away. Both characters that you automatically love.

Jen also has a fiancé who is dependable and safe, but the sparks seems to have gone out of the relationship, and when Robert proposes, he just assumes Jen has said yes, when well she didn’t really answer him. Roberts plan for their life is for Jen to move into his stately Manor, to not work and spend her time raising the children. But these were never plans that Jen saw in her future.

So when her girlfriends suggest a girly trip away to Copenhagen Jen jumps at the chance. The last thing that she expected was to fall into the canal, and be fished out by a handsome stranger, that stirs things in her that she thought were long gone. What will Jen decide to do when she gets home? Marry Robert? Or track down this stranger?

A really lovely book. That I’m only giving four stars to because it was rather predictable. However a lovely story none the less.

**FULL REVIEW**

So, while it was cute and even comical in parts, this story felt way too drawn out for me.

I love angst in my reads, this has none. I like surprises...again, none. I love the romantic element (although slight for what I’d hoped), my favorite parts involved Lydia.

I’ve always wanted a sister, and while I love my brother, it’s not the same...so, reading about their relationship, their conversations and banter, it gave me a longing for something I didn’t realize I was missing...

All in all, I wasn’t blown away, but I didn’t hate it either. It’s one of those “bored Sunday afternoon” reads...

I received an advance digital copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Something has clearly gone wrong here: I don‘t know why the marketing thought it would be a good idea to sell this book as a scandinavian inspired romcom. Because it‘s first not a sweet romcom and secondly you get next to nothing from Copenhagen. Where are all the scandi-vibes that were promised on the cover? Yes, there is the best kiss in the world for Jen, but only because it changes her life for the better. The lovestory is nearly non-existent. In the end it would have been more appropriate to have a beer on the cover.
It‘s more of a slower story which didn‘t bother me at the beginning, as it fits Jens character. But over the time she has become more and more stupid, making the story just tough to get throug. Why do women always have to be so stupid? Even if this is a self-discovery story, isn‘t it asking too much to have reasonably intelligent women. Jen seems to not even understand simple economics and this young lady wants to start her own business?
I do understand Jens relationship with Robert. Given the circumstances she was looking for security and he gave it to her. But during a dinner with his parents I wondered if it wasn‘t the first time after round about ten (!!!) years of relationship that she met them. But that can also be because of the fact that Jen and Robert nearly don‘t talk to each other. Who knows …
But there is hope! Lydia, Jens sister is absolutely amazing! Without her the book would be a disaster. In the end it was her who has expressed all m thoughts about Jen to Jen. Thank you, Lydia, I owe you!
All in all, I‘m just disappointed because all the promising promises weren‘t kept at all.

Edit: Found out that the title is an allusion to an advertising slogan for a danish beer. I like that!

I was really intrigued by the description and other reviews of this book.... but I really thought it was just mediocre. I almost gave up about 30-40% of the way through... but pushed through to see if it got any better, unfortunately it did not.

I really despise cheating storylines so I couldn't get past that. Also, I didn't feel like the main characters had any chemistry. The only redeeming storyline for me was that of Jen's sister, Lydia. I felt that was the only enduring and realistic part of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for and honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Probably the Best Kiss in the World is a fun, slow burn romance about learning to trust yourself and going after what you want.
Meet Jen. A beer brewing magician who loves to-do lists, being in control, and is all too happy to skate through life. Jen is put in a tough situation when her long time boyfriend proposes and starts mapping out a future Jen isn't so sure she wants. The book follows Jen as she comes to terms with the consequences of chasing her dreams, over doing what she "thinks" will be best.

The book is told in Jen's POV in third person. Unfortunately, third person is my least favorite to read. I was so confused after reading the first chapter because so many new people and story lines were being introduced all at once. It was hard to keep track of who was who and how they were all related to each other. I didn't get fully sucked into this book until around 40%, and I mostly kept reading because the story line was intriguing enough to look over the parts of the book I didn't enjoy. Waiting to see what Jen's decision would be on Robert, her job, and whether or not to pursue her passion held my interest in the end.

I personally couldn't relate to Jen or her thought process at all. Most of the time, her thinking and reasoning had me annoyed and shaking my head. She was overbearing, snobby, and unrealistic.
Her roommate and sister, Lydia, wasn't any better. I did find that I enjoyed Lydia's story line more, however her attitude irked me sometimes.

I know this may be controversial, and this is just my personal opinion, but I don't like when authors skip over sex scenes. Obviously, it can be as in as little detail as the author wants or feels comfortable with. However, I don't like when you can't be sure whether or not they were intimate. I need something at least! Especially in this somewhat slow burn situation. I was so looking forward to the part when the characters finally came together. I was waiting for fireworks! The only reason I figured out something had happened, is because the main character walked downstairs and she was trying to comb out her "sex hair".

Here's what I really did like about the book: The story line. It was totally new and fresh. It had the perfect amount of drama, adventure, and lots of background story lines. The aspect of Jen being a brewster was so fun and different. Robert's sisters were a hoot and their disaster of a business added a hilarious aspect to the story.
This book had travel, romance, family drama, following your passion, and taking risks. For me, this isn't the kind of romance that makes me head over heels obsessed with a book, however, it was a really amazing book and there are many people out there who I know would thoroughly enjoy this. I'd recommend this to people who are fans of contemporary with toned-down romance.

2.5-3 stars.
I'm on the fence with how I feel about this one because there were obviously things that I really enjoyed but also things I strongly disliked, and I"m not sure which one is winning my feelings right now. I'm ngl, the cover is what had me picking this book up because the colors are fun and the design is super cute. It gives me cozy vibes and to an extent that does match with the contents of the book. I also love the title! The story and the romance wasn't anything new, and wasn't entirely unpredictable, but I liked the setting and the general storyline. Minor spoiler alert for the content ahead as there's a part of the storyline that I'm just never going to get on board with and that's cheating. But first, let's start with what I liked.

Likes:
I really enjoyed the banter between Jen and Yacob and their meet-cute was, well, cute. I thought they were good together and I really wish that the story of how they met was different. I think the side characters really stole the show for me. Lydia, the MC's sister was a daredevil and go-getter who didn't let her disability hold her back in anyway. She was feisty and full of humour and I kind of wished that the story was about her. Alice and Max were also great supporting characters and their shop sounded really cool. It would also be remiss of me to not mention the hot Danish man! Yacob was honestly the perfect package -- smart, handsome, compassionate, and caring. I love how he was so supportive of Jen's passion and always encouraged her to never give up. Can has Yacob in my life, plz? Another thing I loved was loved Jen's passion -- The Passion. Jen's enthusiasm and love for brewing and beer shone strongly through the words of the text and it was wonderful to experience. I can absolutely relate because reading is something I'm super passionate about and when you really love something, it shines through. I'm glad she stood up for what she loved to do and didn't give it up (for a man no less!) and I enjoyed that she didn't let the fact that she was one of the few women who brew, stop her from winning. Go girl!

Dislikes:
Cheating. As someone who has been cheated on, I don't support characters who do this for whatever reason and it's always gonna be a turn off, and it's enough to make books lose stars. Despite knowing that it would be wrong and claiming that she isn't a cheater, the MC went and did it anyway. I personally thought she had absolutely no good reason to do what she did and it was inexcusable. She had every out, especially with everyone telling her the fiancé shouldn't be her fiancé, and because even her subconscious was rebelling against the engagement! I just wish she would've been honest. Admittedly, I also wasn't the biggest fan of Jen, especially at the start. She was obstinate and overbearing, especially with her sister and especially when it came to beer. It's one thing to have an opinion but it's another to be as rude with it as she was.

Although the story wasn't what I expected, especially the beer part, I'm glad that I did read it. Parts of it were cute, but overall, it wasn't anything new to me or the romance genre. I wish that there wasn't any cheating but, oh well. One thing I do know is that now I want to drink all the craft beers I can get my hands on!

I had not heard of the author until I was mooching on ‘bookish Twitter’ and found an animated clip of the front cover. Copenhagen, and specifically Nyhavn, is one of my favourite places in the world. For my 50th birthday my husband took me to Copenhagen for the weekend because I wanted to walk along Nyhavn and sit outside the restaurants taking in the atmosphere and the beautiful houses, plus I also wanted to travel over the Oresund bridge between Denmark and Sweden (although that is a story for another day). Anyway that animated clip was enough to tell me I NEEDED to read this book, so I immediately bought it for my Kindle.

The one thing I should say about the blurb is that it is slightly misleading. When Jen goes to Copenhagen she is already engaged to Robert, so technically cheats on Robert with Yakob. This made Jen a little unpalatable at the beginning of the story, in spite of it being clear she was planning on marrying Robert for the wrong reason, and she was infinitely suited to the sexy Dane. However, by the end of the book I was completely rooting for her.

Jen is unusual as a main character in a book because her passion is craft beers, which she makes in an outbuilding at her house. There was certainly a lot of information about beer, which I found fascinating in spite of not being a drinker.

The best part of the book involved Jen and her younger sister Lydia, who had lost a limb following a serious accident. I loved the sisterly connection between the two, the balance they sought to find between love and control. As a character, Lydia and her zest for life was infectious and I would LOVE to see a book focused on her! I loved all of the newspaper articles showing an adventurous side to Lydia that Jen had absolutely no clue about.

I loved this book so much. Not only was it partially set in Denmark, it really was a lovely story, not just of following your heart rather than your head, but also of sisterly affection. This was a book I just could not put down when I started reading it, and I finished it in one sitting, it was so good. After I finished I wanted to tell everyone I knew to go and read it!

I am devastated! This sounded so funny and romantic, however I found it predictable and just meh.
Basically, Jen life is predictable, she likes her apps, timelines and schedules. When her predicable boyfriend proposes and plans her life out, Jen thinks she's happy. While on her hen do, Jen falls into the canal, only to be fished out by her knickers by a handsome stranger. This throws Jen's life into a spiral.
I gave 3.5 stars because of Jen's sister and friends. They were supportive and encouraging

This book was a cute and cheesy quick read. Probably the Best Kiss in the World follows Jen’s journey of learning to break free from the mechanical and fully planned out methodology that she followed in order to pursue her dream aspiration of opening a brewery. I appreciated that though romance was an element in this book, it wasn’t the main focus and instead focused on her discovering herself and bettering her relationship with her family.
I thought that the plot was interesting and easy to follow and I felt like I could relate to Jen and her development as a person.
I could feel the chemistry between Jen and the love interest and I thought that it was realistic and not the dread insta-love.
This book warrants 3 stars from me because I really enjoyed the book and found it a light afternoon read however, it didn’t really stand out to me in anyway.
I received this book in NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Funny, poignant and wonderfully descriptive - Pernille Hughes mixes family loyalties, perfect kisses and homebrew into an unlikely but perfect romcom.

From Copenhagen to the the British coast, from Yakob's almost perfection to Lydia's lust for life, from the inside of the brewing shed to the fabulous ensemble cast there was nothing not to love.

I changed my mind several times during this one. I liked it, hated it, liked it, hated it...
I was frustrated enough at about a quarter in that I skipped ahead to see if there was anything that would compel me to read, rather than skim, this book.
The writing was excellent, the story was pretty good, the characters well-developed and I really liked the heroine's sister, Lydia, and the hero, Jakob.
What made me sweary and irritated and ready to give up was Jen.
I don't dislike heroines for the sake of it. I don't go nitpicking for flaws I can get aggravated over. I read for enjoyment, to escape my busy life and the occasionally annoying people that come in and out of it on any given day. I want to like the heroines because they are other women and in this genre we usually experience most of the story through their eyes.

But these days, the overwhelming majority of heroines are unrelatable, and for a myriad of reasons. They are rarely people I would ever want to know, let alone hang out with. They are 'quirky' (read: embarrassing, awkward or clumsy), or weak doormats lacking in self-respect, or simply stupid. If a heroine is described as 'strong,' nine times out of ten she's simply OTT bitchy. Trust me, there's a difference.

Jen was, to put it mildly, a control-freak to beat all. Her arrogance in believing she knew what was best for everyone was astonishing at times, given that she was a champ at lying to herself about pretty much everything. So it wasn't too much of a shock that she was a complete hypocrite, particularly when it came to her relationship with Jakob.
Sometimes, a character is written with exaggerated flaws for comedic purposes or at least has some other qualities that lessen their repugnance. But neither would apply here. Jen's obnoxious smothering, passive-aggression and judgement of anyone who didn't share her opinion or do things HER way wasn't funny. She lacked any softening quality that would have made her sympathetic. I didn't like how she was supposed to be so smart but was so stupid when it came to her own life. I hated how she lied to herself all. The. Time. But the real kicker was how she treated Jakob over an omission and didn't acknowledge her own deceit and infidelity. Jakob forgave her so readily and she reciprocated by cutting him out of her life and for a far milder offence.

Speaking objectively, this book will likely be well-received. It has so much going for it. The average reader will overlook at least a part of Jen's issues and come away with a positive experience, and that is the audience for whom this book is clearly intended.

I wouldn't tell anyone who asked to avoid this book and I would definitely be interested in reading more from the writer. The heroine in this particular book just didn't work for me.

I received a copy of this title from NetGalley, in exchange for feeback. All opinions are my own.

2.5 stars for the story, hero and secondary characters. Subtracting 2.5 out of 5 for the heroine.

If you are British you probably recognise that the title is a riff on an advertising slogan for a well-known Danish lager, which kind of encompasses the concept of this novel.

Jen Attison works in marketing for a local firm which sells eco-friendly incontinence pads, it's not her passion, that's brewing her own beer, but it's local and she's good at it and it allows her to look after her younger sister Lydia who lost a leg in the accident that killed her parents. She has also been dating her bosses' brother Robert for the past six years although she has known him since she was a child when he and his parents came to her father's car repair shop or her mother's dressmaking shop. Robert came to Jen's assistance when her parents were killed and he has been a quiet supportive presence ever since.

When Robert springs a proposal on her Jen is surprised and a little bit shell-shocked, on her forced hen-weekend in Denmark she falls into a canal and is rescued by a gorgeous Danish man, called Yakob. Jen and Jakob spend the afternoon and evening together, talking about beer and Jen's pet hate, the global brewing company Kronegaard, which is headquartered in Denmark (any similarity to Carlsberg is probably intentional), they part on a kiss and Jen never thinks she will see Jakob again, until she runs into him at a brewing conference.

Her parent's accident has had a profound impact on Jen's attitude to life, making her risk-averse and leading her to seek security. She gave up her dreams of being a brewer to look after Lydia but will she settle for boring Robert and his plans for her to give up work and live in a big house by the golf course or will she take a chance on her heart and the mysterious Jakob?

I really enjoyed this, it was quirky, contained loads of detail about brewing and was a funny, light-hearted, feel-good romance. Jen wasn't perfect, as the novel progresses the reader discovers Jen is over-protective and controlling when it comes to Lydia and too passive when it comes to Robert and his (frankly) appalling family but she feels real, she makes human decisions and mistakes.

Recommended if you like quirky British romances about choices and following your passion.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Jen loves her home brewery whilst by day she helps to sell incontinence pads which are eco-friendly and the company is ran by her future sister in law's.

When her sister Lydia suggests she will have FOMO Jen waves it off as she and fiancé Robert stick to certain days for dates so they know what to expect. It's their routine and spontaneity doesn't exist.

Lydia her sister has a prosthetic leg after being in the accident which killed their parents and left Jen to be her form of mother in place of the loss of theirs.

Jen however gets engaged to Rupert and before she knows what's happening is whisked away to Copenhagen on her hen party with her sister and best friends by her side and she literally falls for Yakob.

Yakob also appreciates beer as Jen tells him all about her being a local award winner at home with her craft beer and how she loves making it, he encourages her unlike so called love Rupert who doesn't!

As the book goes on we hope Jen finally breaks it off with Rupert as his family smothers her in the future and tries to get her to stop brewing unlike Yakob whom her friends and sister repeatedly try to show her how much better off she is with him around, for one she's not glued to her planning on her phone all the time after they meet!

Throughout the book we see how the girls relationship is pressured by the fact that Jen always tries to keep her away from danger and doesn't always take into account the fact that Lydia has grown up and is independent even sneaking off to partake in adrenaline junkie sports events which get news articles written about her! Which makes more drama in the novel, it was also refreshing and overdue to have a character with a disability like Lyidi has being without her leg as I can't recall ever reading about a character with that before.

Hilarious and serious this is a beer friendly read as we see Jen develop and grow with the help of her friends and family as the story goes on. It was as Jen would say, Beerilliant!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
