BENDING HER TO THE BEAR’S WILL The human thinks I’m stalking her. Maybe I am. But I’m not the only one. There’s something evil in these woods and it preys on single women. I’m not about to let the sexy scientist fall into its lair. Even if that means holding her prisoner in my cabin. Keeping her where I can see her at all times. Bending her to my bear’s will. Just until the storm passes. Until her research is finished. Then I’ll let her go. I swear.
Publisher’s Note: Alpha’s Prey is a stand-alone book in the Shifter Fight Club series, which is loosely related to the Bad Boy Alphas series. HEA guaranteed, no cheating. This book contains a grouchy, manly bear with a penchant for protecting and dominating his female. If such material offends you, do not buy this book.

Another old freebie. This is part of a 14-book series. I know the characters/storylines flow throughout them, but I didn’t feel like I missed much not reading the other books. The book opens with Caleb (bear shifter) struggling to move on from the murder of his mate and child three years earlier. He’s been living mostly in his bear form, and was recently forced to change by some of his friends. (I think this happened in the previous book) He soon meets the delectable Miranda, a scientist living in his woods where women are going missing.
I usually don’t read BBW because IMO too much is focused on the h’s weight, appearance, etc., and I like to fill in that stuff on my own. Good news is Miranda is confident, and her size isn’t made a big deal. The rest is their story, and the mystery of the missing women.
Bottom Line- Pretty good for a freebie, but not great. It’s short, and kept my attention, but I won’t ever reread it. Pretty fluffy, and lots of smut.
This series is such a winner for me, and Alpha’s Prey is one of the best so far.
I loved Miranda’s dorkiness and her pretend mockumentary voiceovers that go from David Attenborough to accidental porn… but understandable when snowed in after being rescued by a hot bear shifter. Her chemistry with Caleb was 🔥🔥🔥. She was very into his grouchy protectiveness, and so was I.
You can not read this story and not feel for Caleb. We met him in a past book where he is in a fight with Grizz. Caleb is a reclused since losing his wife and daughter to an unknown attacker. He would rather stay a bear and forget the human race. But when women start to go missing around his home, he has a filling it has something to do with how his wife died.
Miranda is a strong and independent woman, and she deserves a strong man with her. When she finds a bear by her cabin, she is afraid but senses something is different with it. Little does Miranda know just how different it is. Caleb is bound to protect Miranda even if she is determined to make it as hard as possible for him.
I would highly recommend this series. Although you should read these books in order, it will make more sense; you don't have to.
Technically this book is part of the Bad Boy Alphas series. However, it can totally be read as a stand alone novel. But be warned, Caleb, totally fits the Bad Boy Alpha description! This was a very steamy and very enjoyable shifter romance, exactly what we've come to expect from the collaboration of Renee Rose and Lee Savino. Hopefully, there are plenty more in this series to come.
Ok fast read. I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t think the main characters really had any chemistry. He has been looking for the killer of his family for three years and the minute he kidnaps Miranda and bam he can find him like that. Oh well quick fast read
The unparalleled writing duo of Renee Rose and Lee Savino have once again exceeded all my expectations. Combining elements of action, intrigue and explosive chemistry “Alpha’s Prey” provides a well-rounded narrative that readers can really sink their teeth into. Professionally written, extremely fast paced and totally engaging, the plot captures reader’s interest through multifaceted characterizations, heartwarming romance, humor, intense heat, suspense and a compelling overarching theme. With a dominant yet vulnerable hero and an intelligent, yet quirky heroine “Alpha’s Prey” evokes a multitude of emotions, ultimately satisfying the readers need to connect with the characters as well as the story line. Although part of a series “Alpha’s Prey” reads as complete, standalone novel with dual POV.

***I received a voluntary ARC for “Alpha’s Prey” in exchange for my honest review ***
4⭐️ This is an erotica with almost equal parts smut and plot. Yes! The chemistry between these characters is gorgeous. The FMC is such a dorky nerd and MMC is understandably a grumpy sad boy. I like the grumpy-sunshine trope. I could read maybe 150 more pages of this. I like the recall to the series’s macro-plot. I love that I read the book before this one 6 or 7 months ago and can vividly remember what happened and how it connects to this book.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
After completely a totally non-related book that was a dud, I figured I'd pick up Alpha's Prey because shifter romances tend to fun, sexy, and easy to digest - the exact sort of palette cleanser I needed after the previous nonsense I consumed. While I had a feeling I would really enjoy the book, I was not at all prepared for how much I loved it. The writing is smart and well paced, the plot was engaging, the characters are insanely likable and easy to relate to (despite her being a super smart scientist and him being a bear shifter and all), and the chemistry between them is out of this world. I was totally engrossed in Caleb and Miranda's story from page one (it was genius to have both of their POV's in each chapter as it kept the plot moving and it also gave us refreshing insight into what they were each thinking on a consistent basis). There were moments when I laughed out loud (one of the scenes reminded me very much of one of my favorite episodes of Parks and Recreation), I loved the trivia aspect (never thought I would learn so much in this book), AND there were even moments when tears pricked my eyes. I even loved Bear (the dog) - especially because his name is Bear and the book is about a bear shifter. I honestly did not want the book to end (though the epilogue is super sweet). I will definitely be reading the previous books in the series (thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited and my need to obsessively binge long series) and will continue reading the books as they release from this dynamic duo. I'm hooked! 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Gosh I loved this one! Caleb and Miranda's story made my PNR/Shifter heart so happy. I laughed, I cried and I got all kinds of squiry. Growly Goodness!!! The dialogue was amazing. His history brought a real depth to the story and her beautiful heart was just what he needed. And I have to say their chemistry was so great hubby got a 1am wake up! I seriously hope this series never ends. I devour every release and am always so happy!
Alpha’s Prey is the eleventh book in the Bad Boy Alphas series. Miranda heads into the woods to gather research data, not thinking too much about the snow storm coming or the rumors about a feral bear. When a wild mountain man saves her from the snow storm, their attraction draws them together. As the snow clears, Miranda must get back to her research and Caleb prefers to be alone. But there’s something else in the woods, something evil, that wants Miranda for itself. Will Caleb be able to keep another female his bear wants safe?
Oh my, this book is intense for both the drama between Caleb and Miranda, and the suspense of the evil in the woods! I was flipping through the pages as quickly as I could, trying to figure everything out, but at the same time, I did not want this book to end! I loved the chemistry between Caleb and Miranda! I loved that they both wanted it just to be sex, but so quickly, it became so much more! It was definitely a heart/bear vs head internal argument. Miranda was fearless and so strong, but I loved that she could be her true self with Caleb, not having to always be defensive. Caleb was gruff and growly, but I loved how protective he was, of his heart, of his secrets, and with Miranda. I really enjoyed that while this book could be read as a stand alone, there were a lot of references to previous books for those who have read the whole series - and seriously, you should if you haven’t yet because it is just SO GOOD! This book was amazing, I love this series, and I can’t wait for more!
A fast paced, entertaining story with a feisty female and a emotionally broken bear shifter. The story is well written and the delivery is flawless. The characters have great chemistry and there are plenty of steamy scenes that propel the story along. I did feel that it ends well but I was left wanting more...maybe a sign of further possibles of more for their future. Each book in this series has been an exciting adventure and this one continues that theme.
The story of Miranda and Caleb was exciting and hot! Caleb in a bear shifter who's wife and daughter were killed and it has just about torn him apart. Miranda is a research doctor from UNM. She goes to the lab in the woods to finish her research. But she has become prey. Can Caleb save her and 3 other missing girls? You must read it to believe it! Loved it!
Ok this is about Caleb a Bear Shifter and Miranda a human and the story of how they met and then became mated eventually. There is a threat to the safety of any female in the area, mostly the human females and in particular a threat to Miranda. Eventually there is a really fine HEA that is it for this story. I really liked it and I think you will like it as well.
It's okay, the story started pretty well but got a bit boring in the end for me. The big ending was essentially wrapped up in one chapter so there was no real tension and I never really cared about the "villan". The smut is nice, maybe a lil too much in the end. And I read the book in about 5 hours so it's a pretty quick read. It's just alright, not much else to say tbh. just uk... mid.
I love how intelligent and innately kind Miranda is, while Caleb’s growly and gruff demeanor thinly masks his endearing vulnerability. And the super steamy scenes are super hot!
Enjoyed this book, good characters but would have liked a bit more in depth background on who they are. Considering there really is only two characters in the book it carries well. In summary it was an easy read with a feelggod factor.
I liked that we got Caleb's story, after not being a fan of his in Alpha's Secret. (It's okay, you don't have to read that one first if you don't want to. He was a side character in one scene.) We learned his backstory that made him the way he is, and got to see the spunky and intelligent ecologist Miranda break down the walls around his heart. Watching Caleb thaw was super fun, and of course there are the requisite steamy scenes that come with a Rose and Savino book. I loved Miranda as a heroine, and the fact that she could be herself around Caleb without him feeling threatened by her intelligence.
I really loved reading Caleb and Miranda's story. With the story, you are going to find a lot of dirty filthy and really hot sex. Caleb is a bear shifter and lives on a mountain in New Mexico. He lives a solitary life after his shifter wife and daughter were murdered by a "feral bear" and left on the bank of the river. Caleb is lost in his grief and on the verge of becoming more bear than human. Miranda is an ecologist studying tree ring research at the University of New Mexico. She travels to the mountains to the research cabin to collect tree plugs to study the growth rings. It's still winter in March and the snow is in the weather reports and has been told to get the numbers by Dr. Alogore or lose her funding. So she is on her way up the mountain to the research cabin along with her dog, Bear. Once at the cabin, she unloads her belongings and equipment into the cabin and sets up so she's ready to record her findings tomorrow. Caleb knows that it was the weather is going to be bad and hopes that the serial killer/psycho who preys on female hikers is deterred by the snow that has already started and he knows that the scientist is going to be in danger. Caleb goes to the research cabin to check on the woman, but he traveled as his bear. When he gets there he scents that she isn't alone, that she has a dog with her. The woman's scent is enticing. The next morning Miranda and Bear set out to gather the tree plugs and hope's to get back to the cabin before the snow gets worse. But the changes quicker and erases her tracks disorienting her and becomes lost.
I have to say that I think this author pairing is a winning duo. It coveys so much emotion, angst, self doubt and how grief can effect you.
Miranda is an ecologist that came up to the mountain with her dog Bear to get sample for an environmental grant. She isn't prepared for a sudden snow storm while out collecting her samples. Caleb a bear shifter comes to her rescue.
Caleb a bear shifter has a grumpy and gruff attitude, he is in mourning for his lost mate and child. Yet when he hears Bear barking and yelping he goes to the rescue.
There is so much more to this story but I cannot reveal that just know that you made need both tissues and a glass of ice water.
I voluntarily chose to read an advance copy and in no way was I compensated for this story and this opinion is honest and my own but if bear shifters, a damsel in distress and a happy ever after ending are your kind of story then give it a whirl.
Caleb, we met for the very first time very briefly in the previous book - and he was quite feral the poor male. But not without reason. So it's great that he meets (see rescues!) Dr. M isn't it?
Our brave Dr. is smart, funny, and so fascinated by Caleb it's a delight to see. The love is really high in this book - and so is the tears for Caleb's lost family. I really felt it pull at my heartstrings, and Miranda was the perfect female to help him.
The sex is super duper hawt and our Alpha bear is nothing if not attentive and dominating. Who knew coming out of hibernation would be this interesting? ;)
Together they try to solve the mystery of what really happened to Caleb's family and what has happened to the missing hikers.
A solid 5* from me, I really enjoyed this book from cover to cover - and could not put it down! :)
Damn that was good! Alpha bear / Woodsman and gorgeous to boot. This story takes two people totally opposite of each other and forces them together. She’s a researcher studying trees and the environment on them. She is beyond smart and is a beautiful curvy woman. He is a bear shifter being a hermit in his cabin in the woods. His wife and child were killed three years ago and he and his bear have never been the same. Add in a bad snow storm and a predator kidnapping women and you get one hell of a story. I love both of the characters as both grow and become the person they were meant to be. Definitely plenty of hotness too.
I really like this author collaboration and this series. PNR is always hit and miss for me but these two do it well and add in some BDSM elements. The characters were great in this one and had delicious banter. I also really loved the dog named Bear. My only frustration was how Caleb had been searching for years for the answer to what had destroyed his life three years early and yet it's wrapped up within days. I also figured this mystery would have proven more of a threat.
Still another great addition to this series that doesn't seem like it can ever run out of stories.
Finally Caleb's story, he is such a bear of a man but he has a sad past. Along comes Miranda, a scientist in a man's world, and she has been celibate for a long time because of her bad opinion of men and sex. Then Caleb had to rescue her and her dog and the sparks fly. I love these Alpha shifter stories!
Fantastic book! Loved Caleb and Miranda. Plenty of danger, hot scenes and more. A definite must read! Did not want to put it down. Who needs sleep? I had to know what was happening next. The story makes time disappear. Pick up your copy and see what I am talking about. Worth it! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance copy of the book from the author.
I really wanted to love this book but when a girl gets stuck with a mountain of a man inside his cabin and then there is almost no existent talk about the relationship in the beginning. I had lost hope for this book, and to my surprise, I liked it as one of lighter reads on my plate and I really fell for Miranda.
