ETA: I've just completed a re-read of this, ready for Redemption and loved it just as much. It's so wrong but just feels so very right.

The only promise he'd ever break was the one he'd made to leave when she told him to go.
That promise they'd broken together. Tonight. But every promise he's made on the cold tile he'd keep. He'd die to keep them, because she was his hill to die on.
His world, his future.
His everything.

I need to start by reassuring Ms Bene that all the angst, all the heartache,

I absolutely love Jennifer Bene's deliciously dark stories. They always hit the spot and are never weak on shocking twists. I loved David and Lianna's connection as they continue their volatile relationship.

David and Lianna were just as dark and sexy. There was something about their relationship that I could not get enough of. I loved David in Destruction but I loved him even more in Inheritance as he has to decide what is more important - his love for Lianna or his revenge. I seriously can't wa

Jennifer Bene continues to show how truly talented an author she is as Inheritance, book 2 in the Fragile Ties Series continues where Destruction, book 1 left off and despite the long wait, she has given her readers something raw, gritty and edgy as we return to the tale of David and Lianna.

I felt this one was certainly not quite as dark as book 1, but that in no way makes this any less of a dark romance. It is still VERY dark! It has elements that grip you and shakes you to the core as David's

The push and pull between David and Lianna continues in Inheritance. Their relationship has changed on many levels but David's underlying vices and deep-seated execration of her family continues to pollute their life together and his ability to understand Lianna and truly be there for her. The story is dark and gritty at times but exactly what one needs and expects from Jennifer Bene! ...more

I wasn't completely sold on the first instalment of this series. Lianna seem to be too numb to everything and let David control the scene. It didn't sell to me as dark romance as there was many scenes where David just unleashed everything but didn't convince me.

This second instalment is different as the now Lianne is trying to control the picture.with the relationship changed and now that Lianne is free to peruse a future on her own terms.

This felt dark as the new players on the scene truly di

There are not enough stars for this book. Really, giving it only 5 stars is nearly an insult. I can't even guess how many stars I should give it. I may not even have the right words to describe it, but it doesn't mean that I won't try.

David and Lianna have survived the last few months since Lianna's life radically changed. That includes going through investigations, frozen assets, and having to pack up her beloved apartment. If you ask me, packing up and getting ready to move may be the worst p

Dangerous Temptation

I always knew Jennifer Bene was a prolific author with great talent, but this 2nd part Inheritance of the Fragile Ties Trilogy absolutely blew me away! I highly recommend if you haven’t read the series that you need to do so! A haunting story of lost family love, secrets, lies and betrayal. I will be waiting with bated breath for the last book Redemption in this magnificent trilogy.
A dark salacious read that sucks you in from the outset!

This is the second book in in the Fragile Ties Series and I do recommend reading them in order. How can David love Lianna when he hates her family? He wants his revenge but he also wants Lianna, which will he choose? This is a fast-paced emotional read with lots of drama and suspense. The intensity of their relationship really draws you into the story and takes you a wild ride. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

“Is hate really the hill you want to die on?”

If anyone one line in Jennifer Bene’s newest novel Inheritance surmises it would be that. The story that leads to David being challenged by that question is really what drives this novel, and it a powerful one. David is consumed by hatred of the Faure family as much as he is by love and desire for Lianna, and yet in the end one must take precedence over the other. A person cannot live in both world’s, and David becomes a living breathing testament to

Inheritance by Jennifer Bene

Oh, I needed this book! To inspire, quell, rationalize, understand, to see the light and it exceeded my expectations. The crazy train relationship continues! The protector, his obsessive nature and his beast will be reignited when additional family surfaces.  Can she truly want, love or accept this man he is mess perhaps her other half of her own mess? Will hate consume and destroy the only light in his life? If you have the passion to hate do you then also have the

The second book in the Fragile Ties series continues on with David and Lianna’s story and the turmoil they are going through over Lianna’s family in France and David’s desire to keep her save and protect her from the Faure family. He wants to protect her from the danger they present. However, if he keeps her from her family, he could lose her for good.

David only knows hate and his mind won’t change when it comes to the Faure family and Lianna’s father, even though he’s now gone. Lianna is drifti

Dark romance to take you past your limits

Jennifer Bene is the mistress of dark, dark romance, she isn’t only balancing on the knife’s edge of darkness, but takes you past your limits and makes you crave it.
Inheritance is the second book in her Fragile Ties series and you should definitively have read book one, Destruction, before delving into this one.

The whole begins as a revenge tale: David abducts and tortures Lianna because he holds her father responsible for the death of his mother and the

To say that I have been waiting for this book like I needed air would be an understatement. I have gone back and read Destruction several times so that I wouldn't lose this story in the hundreds that I have read in between waiting for this story to continue. I fell in love with David and Lianna in the first book. Their story was truly destructive and based on revenge and hate. However, it grew into something more as I started to see the characters behind the mask that they wrote. So I patiently ...more

★ An installment worth waiting for ★

—>>> David has spent all his life with his emotions on a slow-rolling boil until the moment he can wreak the revenge on the family he has been taught to hate, on the one person he has chosen to bear the brunt of his family’s destruction. But once he found Lianna, his views became much more than black and white, and he did not know how to deal with the grey portions of the emotions he was beginning to feel for his captive, as she became the one thing he realize

In fragile ties #2 we have a ton of feels. Lianna and David go through them all. Hate, Love, Angst, Satisfaction, Loyalty, Betrayal, you get the idea. In order to understand and enjoy this complicated mess that Lianna and David find thenselves in, you really need to read Destruction, the basis of their relationship was built around that situation. I won't even attempt to explain their journey, there was the previous book and other reviews that have done that already. What I will say is, as a str ...more

In book two, Inheritance, we find David having a difficult time adjusting to his life with Lianna as many secrets have been revealed.

" Lianna was his kryptonite, his one weakness, and after all their months together he'd accepted it. She was still his obsession. His focus. Only now she was his. To protect, to shield from all the darkness.

"Well, all of the darkness except his own."

“If I’m going to pick a hill to die on, one single thing that I’ll go to the mat for, that I’d die for —it’s you. I love you.”

This book is the second in a trilogy, and must read the magnificent Destruction first. I think Destruction was one of the first books I read by this author, and I have been patiently waiting for Inheritance. It was absolutely worth the wait. This book is clearly a labour of love, and so much effort and angst has been put into David and Lianna, who spend a lot of energy re

Jennifer Bene you are author extraordinaire! Your books are always written with emotion and gusto. Your characters are well thought out and exemplary.
Lianna makes the reader feel sad and angry on her behalf. She is character who life and circumstances keep pushing but she survives with her light still shining.
David makes the reader cheer for him, his strong, dark, Alpha male presence makes me hope that he wins in the end.
The Faure's, and Jean-Luc in particular have me guessing what their ulteri

This book is why Jennifer is one of my favourite authors. She writes raw and gritty novels that most definitely fall into the extremely dark category. The thing about these areas of writing; there are many authors out there but few that have this level of talent. She writes on two levels, the alphas are always troubled but you can see the psychological turmoil play out with the sexual scences; which is for people who like dark romances , kinky as hell.
I have great admiration for her u

I’m sorry am I reading the same book as everyone? I loved the storyline with Jean Luc and the tension it created- however, to say I’m not insanely bored with the angst between David and Lianna would be a lie. David is full of angst and troubles and griefs due to what occurred with Liannas family. That’s pretty much it. That’s the storyline for this book. Lots of arguing. Lots of disagreement. Lots of angry makeup sex that’s more like hardcore BDSM. Which listen, I love that shit. But like. I fee ...more

To much abuse to get 5 stars

This book is infinitely more tame then the first book was but the darkness of the abuse just to initiate sex is still to much for me to give this 5 stars. I get that the author makes a point (more than once) that Lianna likes this dark abusive side of David but it still seems unrealistic that any woman would like that amount pain. To each their own though so I still read the book. It's good writing and story is interesting....enough that I definitely want to see how i

This is book two in the Fragile Lies Trilogy and we pick up shortly after book one ends. This is not a standalone read, go and read book one Destruction. This book continues on the dark and twisty path of both David and Lianna's lives. One of the twists in this book is that now David realizes that he has fallen for Lianna and she has become his world but now he struggles with if Lianna will even give him a fleeting thought after all he has done. Lianna and David were one intense couple in Destruction.
Now they are living together. Although Lianna's world has crashed around her and David is still consumed with hatred of her family, they are clinging to each other. Their "game" of dominance and pain still a cornerstone of their relationship.
Ms Bene lets us see and feel the whirlpool of conflicting feelings, the desperate need, those two have for each other.
When a surprise visit escalates the turmoil of their relationship I felt right in

Wow! Second book as good as the first if not better. Well developed characters. I was sucked right into the story! My review will not be too detailed because so much goes on and it is much better that you read yourself.
David and Lianna live together now and she has been going through a lot since her fathers' demise. Enter an uncle, who she barely knows, from her past. David automatically doesn't trust or even like Jean-Luc Faure. Jean-Luc manipulated and therefore fixed all of Lianna's problems.

Wow, what an amazing book! Although not as dark as the first book, the story was still very dark and intense. The chemistry between Lianna and David was off the charts and parts of the story were difficult to read. This was a story of their journey of how the relationship grows between the two of them whilst dealing with the fallout from the first book. The growth of the characters was written beautifully, especially for David as he starts to put his love for Lianna before his hatred and revenge ...more

Emotional roller coaster of a story

This book was an amazing roller coaster ride of emotions. It has its ups and downs and action and suspense as we follow the lives of David and Lianna. It will hook you from the beginning and not let you go until well after you have finished reading The End. This book sticks with you, in a good way. Jennifer does an amazing job of developin
