I read the first book of this series a while ago and enjoyed it. This sequel didn't let me down. A down and out Private Investigator is offered a lot of money to find out what happened to a young woman who died falling off a cliff at the property of a cultish group. The hardboiled PI barges in, ogles the women, offends almost everyone, but somehow manages to solve a few crimes in the process. Just a good old fashioned PI story in the tradition of old Bogart movies.

Poor ex-cop. P.I. Joe Goodey, is employed by a wealthy businessman to find out who killed his drug addict granddaughter. She was found dead at the base of a cliff at The Institute, a cult living near San Francisco.
A cult of awful people who you would hope were all guilty, still an enjoyable read though.

He maybe a PI now, but business is slow, a rich business guy comes wants answer about his granddaughter. She got mixed up with a cult, and was a drug addict, found below a cliff. He is more of a bumbling guy searching for answer, the character of him was well define in this plot.

a great follow up to Goodey's Last Stand. I wish more people knew about these books and I wish there were more novels with Goodey. a very fun read that never gets too serious. I will definitely reread both novels when I need a break from the darker stuff.

Pretty good

An interesting, complicated to solve. I didn't like asny of the characters, particularly the detective. He's too much of a smartass.

Good story. Strange ending

Like Joe Goodey and how he sense of humour made me chuckle more than once. Lot of weirdness in this world . Hope Joe gets that big check.

Not bad

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and was so looking forward to this one but it fell a little short of Goodey's Last Stand. There was a lot of humor here but the story didn't flow as smoothly.
