Collects all of the Winnie the Pooh Sunday newspaper strips from 1966 to 1986.
I have such a weakness for Pooh, I cannot help but forgive the many comic strip gags reprinted here that are so generic they could easily appear in Beetle Bailey or Garfield. There are still several that are spot on, and I can hear the characters' voices in my head. An abbreviated adaptation of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh film via the strip's Sunday pages is a nice little bonus in the back of the book.
A fairly interesting Winnie the Pooh collection, there is an adaption of the movie, then some original dailies and Sundays.
Unfortunately, the dailies and Sundays are not complete but more of a curated best of collection. The dailies appear to have been colorized as doubtful that they initially appeared in other than black and white.
The actual content of the dailies and Sundays is very mixed, it is all standalone gags with maybe a continuity running 3 or 4 days at most. While some of the stories have the ‘voices’ right, others you can’t imagine the Winnie the Pooh characters acting in such a fashion and would seem more appropriate in a Garfield or Nancy setting.
Classic Winnie the Pooh through the ages. The book features comics that appeared in newsprint from as early as the 1960's. It was wonderful to see the beloved childhood character change in both animation style and personality through the years.
I simply adore Winnie the Pooh, have since I was a kid. I never realized that this collection existed until I stumbled upon it at the store. Couldn't resist picking it up and reading it. Cute, sweet and full of child like wisdom. Love it.
