Oliver Napoleon Hill was an American self-help author and conman. He is best known for his book Think and Grow Rich (1937), which is among the best-selling self-help books of all time. Hill's works insisted that fervid expectations are essential to improving one's life. Most of his books were promoted as expounding principles to achieve "success". Hill is a controversial figure. Accused of fraud, modern historians also doubt many of his claims, such as that he met Andrew Carnegie and that he was an attorney.
Napoleon Hill...classics in learning on how to deal with people in business. They can get pretty intense and really must be read with a grain of salt at times to as to not go off the deep end. However, you'll find yourself referencing back to these books over and over again. They make a real impression that won't leave you easily, no matter which direction life takes you.
Recommended reading for any entrepreneur or sales person.
Succeed and grow rich through persuasion by NapoleonHill is a book that continues to stand the test of time because it contains principles that obey the laws of the world we live in. The author shares his experience and knowledge with truth and intention of others in mind. For me, now I’m learning and practicing to be a testimony. A very good book a 5 star book. #GoodReadswithJohnT
Succeed and Grow Rich through Persuasion by Napolean Hill means well. The issue with this book and many other self help books from this era is the writing style and the advice it gives itself.
While the book understands that hard work and different positive mindset are keys to success, this is not the only keys.
The book is antiquated and the boring writing style shows this. The book jumps from example to example with anecdotal evidence. The advice is simple sure, but there's been better books on the subject.
Napolean Hill has a very sketchy background himself and there's many who on youtube who talk about this. Ignoring this and going into the book he himself promotes this think and it will happen mindset that doesn't work by itself.
Success is based on working hard, thinking positive, networking, getting lucky and determination. Not reading this book or having this obnoxious new age view. Read it as a gateway to the past and nothing more. If your into that positive thinking advice book type stuff there's better modern books and youtube videos who can illustrate this better.

Succeed and Grow Rich Through Persuasion - Book by Napoleon Hill
Great book! I was a bit suspicious about the imperative way of writing - which is classic in lame dogmatic self-help abd self-motivation books, but in deed this book has great context and delivers great value. It was my first book of Napoleon Hill and it has totally sucked me in to the author. I am very happy I picked this book randomly from the book store and it was such a good surprise.
Not bad. There were some exceptional insights in here. One star off because it felt disjointed and not terribly well organized. Dropping 200+ epigrams at the end of the book just feels lazy. But still, Napoleon Hill's grasp of the concepts underlying success are something everyone should study closely.
Napoleon Hill may have been a conman, and this book is not devoid of moments that led me to question the universal nature of his claims, but Succeed and Grow Rich Through Persuasion does offer insight into the rhetoric of business and how a person can orient themselves towards success.
This book is comprised of maybe 5% actual practical business advice and 95% wishy-washy, pseudo-scientific claims about the nature of the mind. By far the most egregious is the support of the "theory" of an ether that serves as a medium for the conveyance of thoughts from one brain to another. The author claims that there is "compelling evidence" (never cited or referenced, of course) that "thought vibrations" hang around this ether perpetually, and that they are the source of those unexplained thoughts that pop into your head. Honestly, this contention bothers me more than the constant arguments for the power of prayer and the necessity of instilling your trust in an all-powerful Creator.
My favorite moment of the book is the end of the first chapter, where Dr. Kenneth McFarland is praised several times. What the book fails to mention is that McFarland was superintendent of the Topeka, Kansas school system leading up to the famed Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education, and that McFarland had rejected prior calls by the NAACP to integrate the school. Not only that, but McFarland was forced to resign his post when a number of claims of misappropriated school funds by his office came to light.
This book is not about manipulating people, it's about helping others get what they want so that you can attain the things you want: a concept I can believe in. This book is not just about how to sell yourself to the mind of others, it's about how to form thinking habits that draw in others because of a positive mental attitude and mindset to do more than what is required of you. I have studied this book extensively and I plan to return to it regularly. I highly recommend this book for the open-minded dreamers of the world.
While not quite as good as the original Think and Grow Rich title, I found this book to still be a stimulating read. Succeed and grow rich covers the many important habits for success, but focuses more on the practical application of the material by exploring the stories of those who have implemented these habits into their life and careers. I agree with other reviews that there is some repetition, but I think it serves to enforce the core values of the text.
