I loved this book! Super nostalgic because I used to read all of the Puppy Place's and recently decided to finish my collection. Kodiak's story was super sweet, and I loved the nature aspect of it. Lizzie's character is so young yet so intelligent. I appreciate this as a 22 year old, and I remember appreciating it when I was young as well. One of my favorites from Ellen Miles!

Lizzie is in elementary school. Her family, the Petersons, have a puppy named Buddy plus they foster dogs and help them find homes.

Lizzie is spending the weekend with her best friend, Maria, and Maria's older cousin, Kamila, at Maria's family's cabin. As they arrive, they see a Malamute puppy through running the woods. They are able to catch him and call him Kodiak. Over the weekend, they all have fun with him. When no one at the nearby country store has heard of a missing dog, Lizzie takes him home so her family can foster him and find him a good furever home.

Though this book is a quick read and directed at elementary-aged children, I found it entertaining. There is a learning experience and a puppy tip at the end. It is written in third person perspective and first person from Kodiak's point of view. It is the fifty-sixth in the Puppy Place series, which currently has 66 books in the series, and works as a stand alone.

We didn't like this story as much - well, my kiddo didn't care, but I found the story to be a bit of a reach. The college-aged character takes only one week to decide if she wants to be a writer or a doctor, and then she decides to move across a full continent after a week with a brand-new dog while there are still posters up to find its owner! Not my fave. BUT, again, my kiddo didn't care. He just liked the story about a puppy.

Unbeknownst to me, this little book was reserved at the library for me by a kind library staff member. Puppy Kodiak is an Alaskan Malamute, like our big, beautiful Seamus. Seamus was a rescue.

Lovely little book (and series) about the various dog breeds. Promotes dog rescue, giving them a forever home.

A good book for lower level readers. I find that once you have read one Puppy Place book - you have read them all. They are very similar.

Kodiak is a Malamute who ends up with Kamila, Maria's adult cousin, and they are going to Alaska together!
