Maybe This Christmas is book three in the Colorado Ice Series by Jennifer Snow. It’s still really hot outside so what’s better than a little Christmas in September to cool things off. Or should I say heat things up since the relationship between Asher Westmore and Emma Callaway is anything but cool. These two together generate enough heat to warm the coldest of winter nights.
Asher, the youngest of the four Westmore siblings, has followed in his older brother’s footsteps and plays professional hockey. Where his brother Ben plays for Denver, Ash plays for New Jersey. Asher has two games left to hit a major milestone, his one thousandth game. Asher has been nursing a knee injury and trying to keep it hidden for quite some time now. He just wants to make it to his milestone game, then he promises himself he’ll get the treatment needed. He was so close. His team is playing against his brother Ben’s team and an especially hard hit by his own brother changed everything. His knee was further injured and his secret was exposed. After emergency surgery he is sent home to Glenwood Falls, Colorado to recuperate. Good thing he knows a really good physical therapist very well.
Emma was a professional snow boarder, an Olympic Gold Medalist. But a severe accident ended her career. Now she is a physical therapist and living in Glenwood Falls. She and Asher have been best friends for years. It didn’t take long for their friendship to become a friends with benefits friendship. The chemistry between them never dimmed each and every time they were together. They understood each other’s drive to focus on their careers. Emma, though, for the last year, has realized that her feelings toward Ash have changed. She has fallen in love with him. She knows she needs to tell him, to see if there is any chance he could ever feel more towards her. He is home for several weeks while they deal with his injury so it’s the perfect time for them to spend time together to see where things go.
Ash can sense that Emma’s feelings are changing. He knows he has feelings for her. But he wants to concentrate on hockey until he is forced to quit playing. Can he manage a serious relationship and his career? Or would Emma wait for him?

Asher is convinced that Emma would be happier going back to her snow boarding career. And Emma’s sister pressures her to stay completely away from her previous career and to concentrate on her new physical therapy career. I felt bad for Emma. It seemed like everyone else knew what was best for her. She is facing some very major decisions, decisions that feel right but that the timing is all wrong. Then there are her feelings for Asher. She’s scared to death to tell him how she feels, that he doesn’t feel the same.
Asher kind of made me a little angry at times. You know the old saying, he wanted his cake and to eat it too. I kind of felt like that. He did have strong feelings for Emma. But he didn’t want any distractions in his career. He was unwilling to make her a priority at that point in his life. But there is nothing like watching a man realize that he could easily lose the one thing that he took for granted, the thing that was more important to him than he could have imagined.

This is a sweet, sexy romance that I enjoyed so very much. I love the Westmore family. We really get a look into the heads of these professional athletes and the competitive spirit that they live with, even as brothers. To have Asher’s own brother take him out of the game that way was a hard thing for them to deal with and I felt so bad for their mom being right there in the middle. But in the end, this is a very close family, and they worked everything out as Ben is also dealing with some big decisions in his life.
I have loved this series from the start and this book was no exception. Asher and Emma were fantastic together. I can’t wait to see what Jennifer Snow has in store for us next!

Disappointing, too much pointless drama, dragged out over far too much time, with an annoying, opinionated, interfering sibling who added absolutely nothing to the story either.

I love to try holiday romance, but to be honest, I find that the majority I try just don't do it for me. I've found some super great holiday reads, but I go in a little wary. Jennifer Snow is a new to me author, and I love a hockey hero so I gave it a try and hooray, I liked it! It's not necessarily super-holiday, but hockey is prominent and it's a well done best friends to lovers trope.
Asher Westmore is thirty and has two more games until he plays in his 1000th career NHL game. With an older brother also in the NHL who has reached this milestone, Asher is a wee bit competitive and can't wait for the game to come. Asher has been battling a bad knee and it's getting serious. Cortisone shots and constant pain killers are not helping. He knows he is taking way too much pain medicine, but he just needs to make it a few more games before he can give his knee a rest. Unfortunately - that rest comes too soon. Before he can cross the 1000th game, his brother, who plays on an opposing team, knocks into him hard during a game, and his ACL is torn. Asher gets rushed to surgery and is looking at six to ten weeks of recovery.
His best friend of the past ten years is named Emma. She is a former professional snowboarder who was also badly injured, ending her career right before she was supposed to leave for the Olympics. Emma is now a physical therapist and has just been accepted into a PhD program all the way in Florida (they live in Denver). Asher is not only her best friend, but a best friend with benefits. Whenever Asher is in town - they end up sleeping together. Emma secretly loves Asher - and Asher secretly loves her - but they are too afraid to admit to the other their true feelings. When Asher gets hurt, Emma isn't sure she wants to leave Denver, and Asher to go to school. Will they ever tell each other they are in love???
Asher is this big, sweet, super sexy guy who adores his best friend. I think the author does a nice job portraying their BFF status. It felt very realistic! They have sex pretty early in the book, and sometimes that can halt the sexual tension in a relationship, but not here. The author shows their progression from hot banging, to hot love-making throughout the book and it's paced well. There is enough conflict with Emma struggling with her decision to go to Florida and Asher's injury to keep the story and their relationship going.
Their family is involved in the book a lot too - Asher has a lot of siblings and Emma has a sister who was a bit bitchy at times, but felt sisterly and maybe coming from a place of love too. Asher's interactions with his brothers is well one - and we had a bit of bitchiness on that side too, as Asher and his older brother as both so competitive when it comes to their hockey careers....I liked to see them work out their stuff.
This book was a lot sexier than I was expecting - I guess based on the cover I wasn't sure if it was going to be fireside snuggles or rip off your panties sex. It was the latter and I give it a penis thumbs up.
I enjoyed this author's voice - looking forward to reading her more regularly.

This was another heartwarming, holiday read from Jennifer Snow about two best friends who found love with each other. You know me, I'm a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers story, and Maybe This Christmas delivered on the romance big time.
Asher Westmore and Emma Callaway have been best friends for years. Then they became best friends with benefits, which suited both of them just fine. Asher is a hockey placer for New Jersey while Emma is pursuing a snowboarding career. Then life comes at you fast.
For Emma, that change came when she took a serious tumble during a qualifying snowboarding competition for the Olympics, ending her career. These days, she's a physical therapist in her small town of Glenwood Falls. Her friendship with benefits with Ash is going strong but lately, she had been feeling adrift. Not really sure whether she should get back into snowboarding or pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. There's also her relationship with Asher. Emma's feelings for her best friend is definitely deepening and she's not quite sure if he feels the same.
Asher is about to hit a huge milestone of his career. He could almost taste it. But a knee injury and a hard hit from his own hockey-playing brother derailed that milestone for him. Now he's back in Glenwood Falls to recuperate with Emma's help, of course.
While this book can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend that you read the previous books in the series to get a background of Emma and Asher's relationship. I don't think it's necessary but I think it would enhance your reading experience.
That said, I have not read any book in the series prior to this one but I didn't feel lost and I was able to pick up the threads of the story very easily.
I enjoyed how Asher and Emma's relationship transitioned from friends to so much more. It helped that the author already established that these two have an intimate physical connection. At the start of the book, they've been FWB for a long time. Years, I think. So it wasn't a leap in any way.
Despite being friends and then lovers, they both had to deal with a lot of issues not just between them but also with their families and careers.
For Asher it's dealing with his feelings of resentment for his brother Ben, Emma, and the thought of having to give up hockey. who always seem to achieve every accolade that Asher wants without struggle. Emma herself is dealing with a meddling sister and a father who is losing himself daily.
And speaking meddling...Emma's sister Jess got on my last nerve.
I mean, come on! She was positively heinous in her treatment towards Ash, turns up her nose at her sister's accomplishment, and she makes decisions about Emma's lovelife and career without consulting her. Sure, I believe that she's doing it because she loves her sister but gah! It was still annoying. I had to resist the urge to throw my Kindle against the wall whenever she was in the scene because I just can't deal with her meddling.
Fortunately for me, Jennifer Snow was able to write a really convincing romance between Asher and Emma. Despite some hiccups along the way, they were able to deal with their issues like adults. No unnecessary flouncing, drama or whatever. And Ash proved himself to be a really sweet and caring hero worthy of Emma and that one revelation in particular (which I won't spoil here) sealed the deal for me.
So if you're a fan of sports romance and the friends-to-lovers trope, I would recommend this book!

What's not to love about a best friends to lovers romance? Well, maybe more of a best-friends with benefits to falling in love romance?
I immediately connected with Emma and Asher. Immediately picked up on a whole lot of unrequited love . . . well, maybe not so much unrequited and unspoken. Emma and Asher have been the best of friends for years. Lovers for a while too. But are they ready to move this friends with benefits relationship to another level. Sex hasn't ruined things but will true love?
I really liked Emma and her inner strength, her ability to admit to herself that she was happy in her life. Settled. Ready to move on to true love, a marriage and a family. But Asher. His typical man ignorance frustrated me. He took a little while to get on the upswing--to realize there's a life outside the hockey rink. But once he did, whoa. Holy hotness.
This Colorado Ice series has been hit or miss for me, but Maybe This Christmas was a definite hit. I loved the sibling interactions--sibling rivalry at it's finest. Loved how Emma was a part of the family too. And I'm hoping there's at least one more tale to tell. ~ Missy, 4 stars

Do you know the Westmore ? It's this family of hockey players, half of them are in the NHL and so far two brothers and one sister found their HEA. This time, it's the youngest son's turn to make a match.
For thirty years old NHL player Asher Westmore, hockey has been everything to him his whole life. In less than a week, he's going to be honored for his one thousandth game on the professional league's ice. Too bad for Asher who hate surprises, because a big one is waiting for him. He's going to be home for the Holidays after an unfortunate incident confine him to forced rest for six to ten weeks after a knee surgery.
Former snowboarder athlete, Emma Callaway know how life-changing an accident can be. Her career in the Olympics ended a few years ago, three days before she was set to leave for the competition. Maybe it's fate that made her redirect her career to physical therapy since the friend she's in love with will now be in need of a PT.
Asher keep his life private, from the media and his family. His mother seem to think they're an item, but they're just friends...with benefits. Too busy with his work and not wanting to mess with their frienship with commitments, it didn't stop Asher from convincing her to get into bed with him. But after six years of on and off trysts, Emma is ready for something else. Her feelings for Asher changed and she wants more, but she doesn't know how to tell him. What's waiting under the Christmas tree for them this year ? Heartbreak or enchantment ?
I'm not a fan of friends with benefits trope, but I enjoyed how Jennifer Snow put together this romance. In fact, I like her style because she always come up with a different angle. With just a couple of words or a few sentences, she give personality to her characters and it's with all these little tidbits that I easily connect with them. I liked the story of how Emma and Asher met, the feuding between Mrs. Westmore and Mr. Calloway. And I like how the author choose to briefly addressed the subject of heavy medication in sports without getting into drama with it.
There's nothing more to say except that I like this series and I hope there's more to come but I'm left with wondering, since all the Westmore siblings found love. However, I already know I'm gonna read what Jennifer Snow give us next.

I liked the story of how Emma and Asher met, the feuding between Mrs. Westmore and Mr. Calloway. And I like how the author choose to briefly addressed the subject of heavy medication in sports without getting into drama with it.
There's nothing more to say except that I like this series and I hope there's more to come but I'm left with wondering, since all the Westmore siblings found love. However, I already know I'm gonna read what Jennifer Snow give us next.

Da mir die ersten beiden Bände irgendwie besser gefallen haben, gebe ich hier 3,5 🌟
Auch die Geschichte um Asher und Emma ist eine süße und unterhaltsame Geschichte, die ganz toll in die Winter- und Weihnachtszeit passt. Ich fand es unheimlich schön, wieder in diese ganz besondere und familiäre Kleinstadt-Atmosphäre abzutauchen, ich habe mich beim Lesen wieder sehr wohl gefühlt.
Was mir hier etwas weniger gefallen hat als in den vorherigen Bänden war, dass das Drama meiner Meinung nach künstlich in die Länge gezogen wurde und dann das Ende zu schnell abgehandelt wurde. Während sich die Zweifel auf beiden Seiten durch das ganze Buch zogen, waren sie am Ende wie durch Zauberhand verschwunden. Das hätte meiner Meinung nach etwas ausgewogener sein können.
Außerdem blieb ich am Ende tatsächlich mit einer nicht ganz unerheblichen Frage zurück: Was ist denn jetzt mit Emmas Plänen? Da immer wieder darauf hingewiesen wurde wie unsicher sie sich mit ihrer Entscheidung ist (die ja auch mehr im Affekt getroffen wurde als alles andere) kann man wahrscheinlich davon ausgehen, dass sie das ganze noch mal anders angehen wird. Das würde ich zumindest logisch finden. Aber warum zum Teufel wurde das nicht mehr erwähnt?
Da es ja der letzte Teil der Reihe ist, finde ich das etwas abrupte Ende inklusive offener Fragen etwas schade.
Trotzdem insgesamt eine tolle Reihe, die mir super gut gefallen hat ☺️

Auch der dritte Teil dieser Serie war wieder gut zu lesen und ich habe jede Seite genossen. Asher ist genauso so toll wie seine anderen Brüder und diese Serie wird ein ganz besonderes Highlight für mich bleiben.

MEINE MEINUNG
Obwohl ich die anderen Teile der Reihe nicht gelesen hatte, war ich ganz gespannt, als ich das Angebot auf netgalley entdeckt habe. Für Weihnachtsbücher ist es ja noch nicht zu spät und weil ich zuvor viel gutes über die Bücher gehört hatte, war ich sehr gespannt.
Asher Westmore ist ein beliebter Profi-Eishockey-Spieler, dem seine Karriere wichtiger, als alles anderes ist. Für ihn steht das Eishockey stets an erster Stelle, weswegen er sich auch nur selten in seiner Heimatstadt befindet. Als er sich kurz vor Weihnachten schwer verletzt und ausfällt, bricht für ihn eine Welt zusammen, aber zum Glück ist seine beste Freundin Emma Physiotherapeutin. Dass die aber mehr fühlt als nur Freundschaft, ist ihr großes Geheimnis.
Emma ist schon seit Jahren Ashers beste Freundin - mit gewissen Vorzügen. Denn jedes Mal, wenn er in der Stadt ist oder in der Nähe ein Spiel hat, treffen die beiden sich zum unverbindlichen Sex. Dass sie schon seit Ewigkeiten mehr als nur freundschaftliche Gefühle für Ash hat, verschweigt sie ihm bisher. Sie sieht sich selbst als sehr durchschnittlich und hat deswegen das Gefühl, oft übersehen zu werden und in der Masse an Frauen, die Ash anhimmeln, nicht wahrgenommen zu werden. Sie war auch selbst mal Profisportlerin, bis auch sie nach einem Unfall das Snowboarden sein lassen musste und zur Physiotherapeutin wurde.
Asher ist seine Karriere wie gesagt wichtiger, als alles andere. Er steht häufig im Vergleich zu seinem Bruder, der in einer erfolgreicheren Mannschaft spielt und ihm immer wieder das Leben schwer macht. Trotzdem kämpft er hart für seinen Erfolg, auch wenn es ihm gesundheitlich schaden könnte. Sein Privatleben hält er gerne aus den Medien raus, wirklich viel ist da nämlich auch nicht los. Er ist so versessen auf seine Karriere, dass er kaum andere Gedanken zulässt und somit auch nicht merkt, wie sehr Emma ihn eigentlich liebt.
Beide Charaktere fand ich ganz gut, auch wenn sie mich einfach nicht umgehauen haben. Ich mochte sie und fand sie nicht unsympathisch, aber mir fehlte etwas. Die Leidenschaft zwischen den beiden kann man allerdings nicht bestreiten, es knister und funkelt gewaltig zwischen ihnen!
Der Roman ist in der Er/Sie-Form aus den wechselnden Perspektiven von Emma und Asher geschrieben worden. Ich erwähne es immer wieder, aber ich mag für Liebesromane die Ich-Form einfach immer lieber und habe auch jedes Mal wieder Schwierigkeiten mit der Er/Sie-Form. Hier also auch und leider wurde das gesamte Buch über nicht besser, weswegen ich immer wieder über Formulierungen gestolpert bin.
Die Handlung ist genau das, was der Klappentext verspricht, eine typische Friends-to-Lovers Geschichte. Mehr war es für mich aber auch leider nicht. Die Geschichte entwickelt sich sehr vorhersehbar, war aber trotzdem ganz süß zu lesen. Die Autorin hat auch die Emotionen recht schön rüber bringen können und ich fand das Buch auch wirklich nicht schlecht, aber wirklich nicht mehr.
Es war ein wenig langweilig, so wahnsinnig viel passiert auch nicht und es konnte mich einfach nicht fesseln. Für Zwischendurch war es ganz gut, aber ich glaube nicht, dass der Inhalt mir länger in Erinnerung bleiben wird.

Eine schöne Unterhaltung für Zwischendurch, die keineswegs schlecht war, mich aber einfach nicht so umhauen konnte, wie andere Bücher des Genres. Es war ganz süß und auch emotional geschrieben, aber trotzdem etwas langweilig... Eine Empfehlung für jeden, der nur eine kleine Lektüre zum Abschalten sucht!

Wo soll ich nur anfangen?
Ich sollte wirklich, wirklich IMMER die Leseproben vorher lesen.
Tja, aus Fehlern lernt man.
Und dieses Buch war in meinen Augen definitiv ein Fehler.
In der Hoffnung, durch dieses Buch ein wenig in Weihnachtsstimmung zu kommen habe ich es mir geholt. Es klang definitiv richtig toll. Eigentlich ist es ja der dritte Band der Reihe, aber ich dachte mir – egal, geht bestimmt um andere Charaktere.
Tja, wenn man auf Erzählersicht steht. Das wusste ich leider vorher nicht, sonst hätte ich mir das Buch definitiv nicht geholt.
Ich habe das Gefühl, die Geschichte nicht einmal wirklich beurteilen zu können, aber ich versuche es dennoch.
Die gesamte Geschichte, die Handlung, die Szenen, die Charaktere, alles wirkte so extrem farblos, so dahingeschrieben. Ich weiß gar nicht wirklich wie ich das beschreiben soll, aber ich konnte durch die Erzählweise absolut nicht in die Geschichte oder die Charaktere hineinfinden. Selbst jetzt, am Ende des Buches, sind die Protagonistin Fremde für mich. Ich konnte keinen schönen Einblick in die Gefühle erhaschen. Die Charaktere waren für mich so nichtssagend und…steril. Gefühllos und kalt. Weshalb natürlich klar ist, dass sie mir definitiv nicht sympathisch waren.
Durch die Erzählersicht wurde auch zwischen den verschiedenen Szenen hin und her gewechselt, wo man sich zB erst im Haushalt von Asher befindet und dann im nächsten Absatz in Emmas Haushalt. Nichts ist gekennzeichnet was den Lesefluss extrem gestört hat und mich immer wieder irritiert hat. Ich habe immer erst ein bis zwei Sätze gebraucht um wieder reinzufinden weil ich erst mal kucken musste, bei wem ich mich jetzt befinde. Wäre das irgendwie durch die Namen der Protagonisten gekennzeichnet gewesen, hätte ich mir deutlich leichter getan.
Die Handlung an sich war in meinen Augen einfach nur langweilig und nervig. Hätte man das Buch in der Ich-Perspektive verfasst, hätte die Handlung besser zur Geltung kommen können, dann hätte mein Endfazit vielleicht anders ausgesehen. Aber so, war es für mich ein absoluter Flop in diesem Jahr. Ein Buch, welches ich leider absolut nicht empfehlen kann, es sei denn, ihr steht auf Erzählersicht. Meiner Meinung nach sind New Adult bzw. Liebesgeschichten und Erzählstil einfach nicht kompatibel.

Surprise, surprise! Impulse buys can turn out pretty good sometimes. I was feeling a bit deflated with the holiday books I've been reading lately and just kept wanting to find a really good story that would pull me in and give me all the sweet and cozy feels. While looking through my Instagram feed late one night I saw this cover and... granted it isn't the best cover ever BUT it was a new author to try and I said to myself... One more. Try just one more! Ladies and gentlemen... success!MAYBE THIS CHRISTMAS is the 3rd book in the Colorado Ice series and centers around the Westmore brothers. They've been hockey obsessed since they could put on their hockey boots and this is the story of the youngest brother. He's been very competitive with his brother Ben about achieving hockey milestones and his sole focus has been about his career. Everything else would wait, right? Especially his best friend, with benefits, Emma. But Emma has other plans and needs and it's about time she goes after them and see where things will fall.
Best friends to lovers? Check. Sports themed? Check. Small town, snowy setting? Check. This book had so many things that I love to read about together! And the writing just kept me turning the pages wanting to know what would happen. I am definitely going to be reading the previous books in this series and probably be on the lookout for Ms. Snow's next novel. Isn't it wonderful when you stumbled upon a new to you author that you want to read more of?
I think Ms. Snow did a great job bringing that sense of family to this book and it was one of the things about this story that kept me wanting to read more. I connected with all the characters and came to like each of them. Emma's father having an eternal battle with Asher's mother (who lives next door), the sibling rivalry which made me see Asher's brothers from his perspective and left me wanting to know what their HEAs were all about.
While this isn't the most original story, I loved that our heroine isn't a mousy character waiting for the big hockey player back home. She used to be an athlete herself and has won Olympic gold. She's also gone on to achieve success in her career as a physical therapist and wants to do more with her life. I thought Emma was a strong heroine that wouldn't put her life on hold for a man but who would try and work with him if he wanted to try. Asher on the other hand I can't say was the most lovable hero. He's a bit hard headed and blind to pretty obvious things, he doesn't take others feelings in consideration until they hit him in the face with the reality. Whether it was something as simple as his interactions with his mother or brother, or the way he pushed Emma. His single minded focus in life was hockey and everything else was literally on the periphery. I still enjoyed his character. Even if at times I wanted to throttle him. Which was more of a reason to love Emma because she didn't let herself get pushed around by him.
If you are looking for a good holiday read this year, pick this one up!

Maybe This Christmas, the latest Colorado Ice novel by Jennifer Snow, takes Asher and Emma from friends to more. We’ve seen them be “friends” in the previous books, but this one finally reveals what’s been going on with the besties for all these years. It takes Asher a while to realize that he doesn’t know best when it comes to Emma and this stubbornness almost costs him everything. Their relationship is not quite classic friends to lovers, but strong fans of the trope won’t be disappointed. It was fun to catch up with all the Westmore siblings, especially at the holidays. The only thing missing was Owen.
While Snow might be out of Westmore siblings, the Colorado Avalanche and the town of Glenwood Falls do not have a shortage of those in need of good HEAs. I have my fingers crossed this is not the end of the series. I also hope that Snow revisits Beverly and Delaney, there is more there than a neighborly feud.

This was a story about friends who move to the next level of “friendship”.
It was hot! Well....Asher was pretty hot!!!! Emma is Asher’s best friend but she wants more, Asher just wants to play....hockey....play hockey 😉.
Overall, a good holiday/second Chance/best friends to lovers story.
I plan on one clicking the previous books and the subsequent books.

This has one of my favorite tropes: friends-to-lovers. Add to that Hockey hotties and you got a good mix. This was pretty realistic and emotional without too much angst. As you delved deeper into the story you find more layers in each character. It was a perfect read for this moment in my life. Like a V8, Jennifer Snow, Thanks I needed that.

Maybe This Christmas is a friends-to-lovers sports romance with a holiday theme! Emma, once an Olympic bound athlete, is a physical therapist and her best friends, Asher, is a pro hockey player. Asher is injured and needs Emma's help. Emma has been trying to work up the nerve to tell him she loves him, worried he won't return the feeling.
Asher is consumed by hockey. He welcomes his no strings sex with Emma because it doesn't interfere with his ultimate love, playing hockey. But, his injury forces him back home to recover and spending a lot of time with Emma makes him see things in a different light. Because Emma lost her shot at professional athletics years before (due to injury), Asher is starting to get a sense of how she felt then. Now, Emma has a chance to go to Florida and enter a Ph.D program for physical therapy. The only thing that could alter her course? Asher.
Sometimes I wanted to shake Emma because Asher did not deserve her devotion. But, I understood her. She could no more walk away from the possibility than anyone could. Asher made me crazy with his single minded focus on hockey. However, I understood it. It was his life and he just wasn't ready for anything else until it was forced upon him. I did want to punch Emma's judgmental sister a few times though (she comes around by the end but in the beginning...grrrr)! Her dad and Asher's mom's bickering adds a bit of family angst to the story. Overall, if you enjoy sports romance and Christmas romance, Maybe This Christmas is a great pick! You don't have to have read about Asher's brothers in the previous 2 books to enjoy this book (I haven't read them and it wasn't a hinderance at all!)

I have adored the earlier books in the Colorado Ice series that I have read so far (I have missed a couple but will be going back to them) however I think that Maybe this Christmas is now my favourite.
I adore the friends-to-fwb-to more storyline. I adore that it is not all about how great the guy is on the ice. I adore that is is about our lovelies finding their way to more, that there is more to life than sport, that you have to do what is right for you, not for anyone else.
I did get a little frustrated with Asher at times though - he was a bit of a dunce when it came to things other than hockey (most of the time anyway).
And then there is Emma's sister. OMG the more the story continued, the more I really did come to dislike her. She redeemed herself with me with about 10% of the book left, but OMG I wanted to throw my kindle at her!
Maybe The Christmas was just the thing to start getting me in the festive mood, and now I can't wait to see what Ms Snow brings us next.

I actually received this book way back in end of August but I saved it till now to read because sue me. I like to read christmas stories at christmas time.
Okay, so I love Jennifer Snow. Ever since Maybe This Love (the second book in the Colorado Ice series), I've fallen for her stories about NHL hockey players and the girls that just know how to tame them.
Maybe this Christmas was no exception. We have Asher Westmore, a big shot hockey player who is 1 small game away from playing his 1000th game, and Emma Callaway, a former olympic athlete turned physical therapist. Both who enjoy the tentative friends-with-benefits relationship that have been indulging in for the past year or so but obviously, reader. One of them clearly wants more. And reader, it's Emma.
My heart broke for Emma because she was just pretending everything was okay when it wasn't. She wanted more but she also didn't want to push Asher into something he wasn't ready for. I mean, she knew him ever since they were teenagers who fumbled around in bed and didn't know what the heck they were doing. She's not oblivious to what Asher does outside of the rink when he isn't in the small town they grew up in. The entire time, I just wanted Emma to admit her feelings for Asher and for Asher to grow a pair so they can finally be properly together.
I also really like the Westmore family. I just love reading about family and the difficulties that come with living/loving them. Asher had a serious setback caused by Ben, his older brother, and it's heartbreaking to see them fight. It was heartbreaking to see Ben in complete wreck, mauling over what he had done to Asher, when he had to be sent to the hospital for emergency surgery. It was even more heartwarming when we saw the Westmore clan forgive each other. I cried guys. I cried so much. I loved the speech he gave. I love Ben and Asher and Jackson. UGH.

Maybe This Christmas was a sexy and fun story that entertained me from beginning to end! I haven't read the previous books in this series, but I didn't have a hard time jumping into the Colorado Ice world. I was craving a holiday romance novel, and this one definitely hit the mark!
This book had a slow-burning and sexy romance filled with banter and steam. I really enjoyed watching Emma and Asher go from being friends to more. The tug and pull of their relationship killed my heart in the best possible way. It was heart-warming to watch them discover what love truly means.
Emma was a determined and lovable character. She was a woman that was easy for me to root for. I was hoping for her to get back to doing the things she loved, and it was great to see her do those things. Asher was a funny and swoon-worthy man. However, there were times that Asher really annoyed me. He made some dumb decisions and I felt like he took a lot of things for granted. However, I still ended up adoring him by the end of the book. I've been looking forward to Asher's story from the very beginning and combining it with my love of holiday stories seemed to seal the deal on this book. It didn't necessarily live up to my hopes for Asher's story but it was still an enjoyable read.
Asher was a little too of a knucklehead for me with his obsession with hockey blinding him to what he had with Emma and the risk he was running of losing her. I get he had his dedication to his sport but it did grate on me a bit that he just had this assumption that once he accomplished all his goals that Emma would still be sitting there waiting for him. I did like Emma and was glad she was willing to take a chance by putting her feelings out there for Asher and my heart broke for her when Asher messed things up.
The ending was satisfying and it is great seeing all of the Westmore siblings have their HEAs. Definitely a fun series to read.

Ich mag diese Reihe und die Westmore-Eishockey-Brüder super gerne und hab mich deshalb sehr auf Asher‘s Geschichte gefreut! Und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht...dieser Band ist definitiv mein liebster von allen! Eine richtig richtig schöne, authentische, sportliche und gefühlvolle ,best friends-to-lovers‘-Story, die auch noch rund um Weihnachten in Glenwood Falls spielt!🥰
Ohne künstliches Drama, dafür aber mit Humor, Erotik und viel Gefühl hat mich die Geschichte um Asher und Emma absolut abgeholt und perfekt unterhalten! Asher ist übrigens richtig toll und hat ziemliches bookboyfriend-Potenzial!😍🔥

Maybe this Christmas is my first "holiday" read of 2017 and what a great way to start the season. I met the Westmore family in Maybe This Love where I hadn't an inkling about the sexiness of Ben's brother Asher. I'm glad to have made his acquaintance and that we get to spend sometime with in Glenwood Falls, CO.
When the story opens we find Asher unknowingly walking into a party to celebrate an upcoming milestone in his hockey career playing for the NJ Devils. We immediately meet his best "friends with benefits" bestie named Emma Callaway and witness his reluctant transition from friends/lovers to much, much more.
Snow's storytelling is impeccable and her characters endearing and genuine. Snow delivers the great scenario for making the potential change in their relationship happen. We get to see Asher struggle with the relationship he has with his brother, how he copes with injury and how he learns about what's really important in life. He's a bit stuck on the past and what he believes about Emma and what he feels for her. I immediately loved Emma and found her to be smart and brave.
There's lust, angst, and redemption to be gained. This a a great read to fire-up any hockey romance readers and get you ready for both seasons. 4 Stars and recommendation!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet romance with a sports twist that I also enjoyed. I have not read any of the previous books in the series so this is a stand alone but the others would have helped with character information.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable romance and I am giving it four out of five stars.

I am sucker for romances and books about sports so when I was grazing through Netgalley looking for future books and christmas books to come out I found "Maybe this Christmas" by Jennifer Snow. From the cover to the synopsis both items grabbed my attention right away. Who doesn't like reading about a hot hockey player?
So when I first starting reading the book I have to admit that I wasn't sure that I was going to be a fan as it kind of sounded cheesy and unrealistic... However, once I got a couple chapters in I really saw the development of the characters and the storyline grow. It wasn't just a friends with benefits story but more about finding out what matters most to you in your life and who you surround yourself with.
I think Jennifer did a great job of developing the characters and the storyline. I think that a little more could have been done with the supporting characters but that might just have to do with me having not read the first two books in this series.
Although this wasn't my favorite holiday read of this season I do think it was well written and very easy to read and follow.

Die Charaktere haben so viel Charme und sind einfach nur liebenswert. Die Geschichte ist vielleicht nicht neu vom Plot her, aber sie wird auf eine ganz hinreißende Art und Weise erzählt, dass man sich in die Protas verlieben muss und ihnen sehr gern durch das gesamte Buch folgt. Man leidet, liebt und empfindet mit ihnen. Emotional wird man als Leser mit eingebunden und man ist des öfteren versucht Asher den Kopf zurecht zu rücken, weil er so blind zu sein scheint oder wie festgefahren in seinem Denken und seiner Lebensplanung zu sein scheint. Dieses Verhalten war etwas, dass mich hin und wieder genervt hat, weil er so uneinsichtig wirkte.
Das Wiedersehen mit seiner Familie hingegen fand ich sehr interessant und auch schön, da man ja die anderen schon kennt und auch gern wissen will wie es bei ihnen weiter geht.
Der Streit zwischen Ashers Mom und Emmas Vater ist auch eine recht witzige Idee gewesen wie ich fand.
Dieses Buch hat natürlich ein Happy End, auch wenn Asher wirklich erst auf dem letzten Drücker zur Einsicht gekommen ist und alles fast gegen die Wand gefahren hätte.
Wer also eine emotionale Liebesgeschichte lesen will mit einem garantieren Happyending ist hier sehr gut beraten.

I enjoyed this book but I did have a hard time getting into Asher's and Emma's characters! I didn't care of either of them for the longest while! A complete surprise considering how quickly I enjoyed the characters from the previous book!

This is the latest book in this series. If you are a hockey fan (like me) or love romances than you will enjoy these books. I know I sure have enjoyed reading these books. In fact, I don't even care that the hockey is not the main focus. Although, there are some brief moments featured on the ice. Yet, it is what transpires off the ice that counts.
Asher and Emma have been friends for a long time. They are ready to take their relationship to the next level. There was not a lot of build up prior concerning Asher and Emma's relationship. Yet, I was fine with this. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not when a couple hooks up within the first couple of chapters. In the case of Emma and Asher it works. They were hot together. I loved that Emma took charge as well. She did not just let Asher make the moves, she commanded him. Maybe This Christmas makes the perfect stocking stuffer gift.

A wish, a risk and a kiss light up the season this holiday. Ms. Snow mixes business with pleasure in this friends with benefits romance. What happens when a hockey star is forced to spend the holiday with his endearingly, overbearing family? He discovers the girl he left behind is starting to look like the woman he can't live without. The people we love most are sometimes the ones we appreciate the least. Maybe This Christmas is a reminder of the precious moments and the special people that grace our lives and live within our hearts.

Review:
Maybe This Christmas, the next installment in the Colorado Ice series by Jennifer Snow follows in the footsteps of the first two books in the series and by that I mean…it is a great read. I was fully engaged from the beginning and was driven to keep reading late into several nights in my attempt to devour this book.
This story is a classic one -> woman has liked (loved) man since they were young children. They are best friends and now best friends with benefits. But how can Emma get Asher to realize that she is in love with him and not just that she loves him? What a conundrum.
The story begins with the all important major career milestone, the 1,000th game for NHL star Asher Westmore, in two games, three nights from now. Asher has been nursing an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury in his right leg in an effort to be able to make this milestone. In the very next game, Ben Westmore (yes, Asher’s brother, who plays for the Colorado Avalanche) checks Asher into the boards, HARD, causing Asher further damage to his ACL and now he is sidelined and his 1,000 game is deferred, if he recovers and can rejoin his team (New Jersey Devils). The bright side of the injury is that he can recuperate in his home town of Glenwood Falls, Colorado. In fact, he will be able to have Emma as his physiotherapist. Now this might bode well for Emma:
“She’d get to see him more in the next few weeks than she had in years. The thought made her heart race.”
Of course, not all goes as smoothly as Emma nor Asher would like. Rehab is NOT easy for Asher as he has very high expectations of himself. Emma is more realistic, but she is very much on edge as she SO wants to tell Asher that she is in love with him. As more time passes, the relationship between them grows, but each is afraid to commit further. Sigh…it does get a wee bit old….
At least one good thing to make the story move along is Emma’s descriptions of how HOT Asher is – the description was very intense…making a gal want to lust after Asher herself. Who wouldn’t want a hunky hockey player:
“Her best friend was freaking hot as hell. A hockey player shaped more like a bodybuilder, with broad shoulders and thick chest and stomach. His six-pack abs were perfectly sculpted from hours on the ice and hitting the gym. His life revolved around hockey and turning his body into the best equipment he had. And damn, his equipment was unparalleled.”
As we find out, Emma is a retired Olympic athlete, due to an injury. I got a bit frustrated with Asher trying to push her back into competitive snowboarding. She had a good reason to quit, has moved on with her life. If only Asher would get it and get over it.
One of the side stories involved Asher’s mom, Beverly and Emma’s dad, Delaney Callaway (whom lived next door to each other). Each trying to outdo each other with Christmas decorations, getting a dog to annoy the other. This neighbourly feud certainly was entertaining. Reminds me of the movies Battle of the Bulbs or Deck the Halls.
We also get a glimpse of the continuing love story of the two brothers from the first two books. A nice way to catch up and see that their relationships are still going strong, with both brothers now engaged to their significant others.
One of the things I also liked about this book is that not only was the love story told well but that descriptions were so engaging that I truly could visualize (for example) the building and the architecture where the Glenwood Therapy and Rehabilitation offices was located:
“The old building on Main Street had been a brewery in the early 1900s. She loved the history of the building and its preserved original décor – maple hardwood floors, rounded archways and an open concept design with crafted metal ceilings.”
So, we have a love story where two individuals have numerous obstacles to overcome before true love can triumph. There are many twists and turns that occur before all is right with the world. I must say that Jennifer Snow has penned an entertaining story with many interesting plot twists which add depth to the characters as well as the story. Sure, the main characters were hot (and that was certainly evident in the love making scenes!) but in addition there was depth of character, which is certainly an added bonus to the stories. As I have said in previous reviews in this series…who doesn’t like hunky hockey players? This Canadian reader sure does.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey of Maybe This Christmas and cannot wait to read more titles by Jennifer Snow. As far as Canadian romance writers go…Jennifer Snow is by far my favourite!

Maybe This Christmas, the next installment in the Colorado Ice series by Jennifer Snow follows in the footsteps of the first two books in the series and by that I mean…it is a great read. I was fully engaged from the beginning and was driven to keep reading late into several nights in my attempt to devour this book.
This story is a classic one -> woman has liked (loved) man since they were young children. They are best friends and now best friends with benefits. But how can Emma get Asher to realize that she is in love with him and not just that she loves him? What a conundrum.
The story begins with the all important major career milestone, the 1,000th game for NHL star Asher Westmore, in two games, three nights from now. Asher has been nursing an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury in his right leg in an effort to be able to make this milestone. In the very next game, Ben Westmore (yes, Asher’s brother, who plays for the Colorado Avalanche) checks Asher into the boards, HARD, causing Asher further damage to his ACL and now he is sidelined and his 1,000 game is deferred, if he recovers and can rejoin his team (New Jersey Devils). The bright side of the injury is that he can recuperate in his home town of Glenwood Falls, Colorado. In fact, he will be able to have Emma as his physiotherapist. Now this might bode well for Emma:
“She’d get to see him more in the next few weeks than she had in years. The thought made her heart race.”
Of course, not all goes as smoothly as Emma nor Asher would like. Rehab is NOT easy for Asher as he has very high expectations of himself. Emma is more realistic, but she is very much on edge as she SO wants to tell Asher that she is in love with him. As more time passes, the relationship between them grows, but each is afraid to commit further. Sigh…it does get a wee bit old….
At least one good thing to make the story move along is Emma’s descriptions of how HOT Asher is – the description was very intense…making a gal want to lust after Asher herself. Who wouldn’t want a hunky hockey player:
“Her best friend was freaking hot as hell. A hockey player shaped more like a bodybuilder, with broad shoulders and thick chest and stomach. His six-pack abs were perfectly sculpted from hours on the ice and hitting the gym. His life revolved around hockey and turning his body into the best equipment he had. And damn, his equipment was unparalleled.”
As we find out, Emma is a retired Olympic athlete, due to an injury. I got a bit frustrated with Asher trying to push her back into competitive snowboarding. She had a good reason to quit, has moved on with her life. If only Asher would get it and get over it.
One of the side stories involved Asher’s mom, Beverly and Emma’s dad, Delaney Callaway (whom lived next door to each other). Each trying to outdo each other with Christmas decorations, getting a dog to annoy the other. This neighbourly feud certainly was entertaining. Reminds me of the movies Battle of the Bulbs or Deck the Halls.
We also get a glimpse of the continuing love story of the two brothers from the first two books. A nice way to catch up and see that their relationships are still going strong, with both brothers now engaged to their significant others.
One of the things I also liked about this book is that not only was the love story told well but that descriptions were so engaging that I truly could visualize (for example) the building and the architecture where the Glenwood Therapy and Rehabilitation offices was located:
“The old building on Main Street had been a brewery in the early 1900s. She loved the history of the building and its preserved original décor – maple hardwood floors, rounded archways and an open concept design with crafted metal ceilings.”
