As Mason strengthens his magic over metal and stone, the Master lurks in the shadows. To lure the Master out and stop his nefarious plot, Mason and his harem of mages and princesses have to do several 1) Take over the Order of Mages 2) Build a train and railroad system to connect the kingdoms of Illaria and Cedis 3) Keep from getting burned by giant, murderous creatures made of flame Sounds like a piece of cake, right?
I had a great time reading this book. The characters are fun to read about and the author introduced 2 more characters that I found very interesting. The pace was good and the world building was fun to read about as well. Overall it was fun to read and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Nothing Surprising Mason, Aurora, and Cayla are back at it.
The book did a decent job of revisiting / reflecting back on previous events in a natural way, which is important in a multi-book series when you are read it as they come out.
Shoshanne was introduced and is an interesting character, but pretty quickly faded to the background with little action.
The railroad movement Mason undertakes as the primary arch of the book is simplistic, and showcases one of the things I don't like about these books. The magic capabilities of people is very ill-defined and of unknown limit.
Several fire based creatures are faced during the railroad construction, and the epic battle is with a high-powered fire mage who was an agent of the "Master". Huge, architecturally distinct train depots and stations are erected in minutes by a team of earth mages working together.
In general, the magic "system" seems very hand-wavy and made up as needed.
Mason is inventing up a storm in his adopted world. It seems the "Master" is taking exception to his meddling.. You know saving people and countries. This time Mason is making trains and who doesn't love trains? The Master, that's who. The mechanics were a bit oversimplified but it's magic right. Still a fun and entertaining read. I look forward to more. Masons excitement is contagious.
Mason goes on his merry way with Aurora and Cayla by his side. He now has a phalanx of mages on his side and can’t wait to join the kingdoms of Illaria and Cedis. However, the Master, is determined to stop him but Mason is just as determined to succeed! This is another terrific magic and mayhem story from Eric Vall. I like the way he doesn’t overdo the romance and makes it a more realistic part of the story.
Read in one day. So much fun. The excitement gets better and better with each story. Mason, the metal mage is using basic technology from Earth, but on another world that is like life from the middle ages. He builds revolvers and rifles, the creates robots, and more to fight the evil trying to destroy the kingdoms. I'm looking forward to the next installment. Keep up the great writing.
The writing is very poor. Things just happen for the MC, and women just jump on his crotch. The cliches are seen coming a mile away. No one questions what the protag is doing with the Princess (not even her father), and all the powerful people are his friends.
This is so bad. But the story is interesting enough and the protag builds stuff. Even if he has an engine that doesn't expel hot gas out an exhaust constantly roaring.
I loved the book and the way the story flows kept me glued the entire time. I was hoping there would be more interaction between the MC and the 3rd female character. Hopefully we will see that relationship come to bear in the 4th book. Please don’t let her be one of the baddies. Soooo looking forward to the next book.
This story seems like an empire building tale as in this book the MC creates a railroad across the country(s). Sabotage and enemy’s abound as he tries to join the two countries together by improving travel and trade between the capitols. The few sex scenes in this book are fade to black.
3 stars, maybe 3.5 maybe. It is similar to the first two but with less action and not as good of a story. It is kind of a filler book I think but I still like the MC and other charters. I am sure if you liked the other books you will read this one as well but it was just okay even tho I did enjoy and do enjoy these type of books.
Mason and team set out to build a railroad to link the capitals of the two kingdoms. Along the way, they face push back from traditionalists, fire monsters, and enemy mages. New characters show up to help and add to the story. I like the action, humor, and romance. I look forward to the next book.
This was favorite book so far in this series. I liked the train building focus of this book. I hope that in future additions to this series the MC continues to add technology from Earth and bring it in to this new world.
They just keep getting better and better. I just love the world that the author has created and the bond between the MC and his women. It’s a great book that you should read.
This series is pretty good, and this installment carried it along quite nicely. I'm really liking the way this one is developing. Love the transportation upgrades, and can't guess where the series will go next, so following this one is almost a must. Good stuff here folks.
Fun fast read, he is starting to have too many woman with him which I'm beginning to find distracting but the premise is good and the introduction of technology into a medieval world is a ton of fun.
A good solid read as Mason continues to develop his powers. He builds a railway line between two capital cities. His love life continues apace and he saves the day. Well done Eric Vall.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book just as I did the previous two books. The author seems to go from strength to strength with his storyline, character development as well as all the new elements he keep adding to the story.
This is a good book. You should read it. I like the story. The characters are fun. Enjoy the new vehicles and progression. Would liked to have seen the big guy more involved in book.
The story continues. The plot continues to expand. The story does harem elements and adult situations. I enjoyed the story and reading straight through the available books (currently book #10).
I seem to be bucking the consensus with a 3-star review, but imo the book suffers from some structural flaws . I won't dissect it, but it just seemed repetitive to me, with no real character development and very 2-D secondary characters.
If you liked the first two and had none of these concerns, you'll like this. Assigning a rating based on how much I enjoyed it, it just didn't get over the hump to make it to 4-stars, let alone 5.
