A coffee table style book, celebrating the KC Chiefs World Championship of 1970. Awesome pictures and well written text of a era gone by. A old school Chiefs fan will enjoy this book and the memories it brings back. It will keep us company and hoping till the teams able to return to the Super Bowl one day I hope in the near future.

Pretty well-written, for a sports book (and accompanied with fantastic photographs). MacCambridge, who was raised in the Kansas City area, is a good writer with an impressive vocabulary and an ability to tell the story of a sports season (and with some humor) without it bogging down into a tiresome play-by-play retelling. I also thought his prologue succeeded in tying an appropriate bow on the story.

This coffee-table style book is more than just pretty pictures and cursory words. MacCambridge, who has previously written thorough books on the NFL and Chiefs owner Hunt, applies the same level of detail on a smaller scale here. He goes through the 1969 Chiefs season (when they won their only Super Bowl), recapping each game and the year’s major storylines, from tactics to race. The pictures and memorabilia are equally excellent, making this a book recommended for fans of the Chiefs and/or NFL history. Every Super Bowl-winning team deserves a book like this.

I received this book as a Christmas gift in 2024 and within two days, I had read it cover to cover. As a football fan, and more specifically, a Chiefs fan I thoroughly enjoyed the in depth examination of the Chiefs 1969 season. But what I didn't expect was a look at the city of Kansas City, a city I love, at this time in history and the Chiefs place in it. Reflecting on the talent on that team, to date still the only team in which more than half their defensive starters have been enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, it is still hard to believe that they only earned one championship. If you are a Chiefs fan or a football fan, or both, you will enjoy this book. Highly recommended!

I remember this Super Bowls one of the first I ever watched as a young budding football fan. I can hear Curt Gowdy say “the Kansas City Chiefs have just beaten the World Champion New York Jets to play the Oakland Raiders for a trip to the Super Bowl” (or to that effect).

The Chiefs and Hank Stram were great innovators of the game and made it exciting to watch. Loved the AFL!

Mike MacCambridge is one of my favorite writers. This book gives you exactly what you need with the '69 Chiefs. The City. The Coach. The Team. The Season. It is a coffee book on steroids. If you are a Chiefs fan, it's a have-to-buy book. But football fans and those that love the NFL's history would enjoy it. The AFL's final game. Historical.

Hat memories from my senior year we had been blown out in the 1st Superbowl so this was triumphant. This was also my senior year where we played in the state championship.so I had a fantastic team to play for while watching the chiefs win it all. It was a wonderful year. Great stories of the wonderful personalities that put that great world championship together
