I knew that this book would be tongue-in-cheek before picking it up.What I had not counted on was the lie of the title. Most of the bands and artists quoted can barely be called metal of any kind. The ridiculously insipid hair/glam 'metal' artists had particularly trite offerings, and even the quotes from bands like Slayer and Black Sabbath are hardly their best. Avoid this book unless you seek to groan rather than laugh or feel even the slightest bit inspired.
The only plus is that it's an extremely quick read, easily less than 10 minutes.

Reading the introduction and this quote took me back to when metal music ruled the world, the hair was big, and the parties never-ending. Nostalgia set in.
Not a book for the over-serious who can't enjoy a humorous take on old-school 80's metal & hair bands, but an excellent book for those like myself who get the humor and relish in the flashbacks of the music of my youth.
It is a short book that can be read within 15 minutes, but the photography in the book is outstanding. Definitely a cherished gift from my friend. (Thanks again, Wyatt)

My girlfriend got me this for something fun to read, and cuz she knows I listened to some metal back in the day. This is kind of in the same vein as the Pooh book about philosophy, but with much less reading to do - and far less twisting to make bad connections. It isnt to be taken seriously, and it can be read in just a few minutes. Mostly it is just a number of lines from metal songs with a pic of the band on the opposite page.

A very clever gift book that takes on a lot of the inane lyrics written by heavy metal gods. There are beautiful pictures that accompany each lyric and this will be appreciated by all fans of this musical style. You do have to wonder at what was behind these words when they were written.
This would make a wonderful gift for anyone who likes to bang their head.
