Curtain Call is the sixth and final book within the Harem of Freaks series.

It is time. Time for them to beat the final level and boss. The one thing that got me excited? Falling into a trap and planning to escape. Sure, the actual escape was way too freaking easy (surprise surprise) but details. They somewhat struggled and I'm okay with that. Would've liked more blood and tears or something.

Other than that, the entire series was fast paced. Which isn't always a good thing. We definitely needed more throughout each book because the characters fell flat more than once. I wanted to see more of the kids because they were only mentioned briefly throughout the series. As for the relationship, it's great that everything happened very quickly but it could have been dragged out a bit more. Heck - Melody is only 18, let her live a little.

I also wanted more circus life but maybe I'm just being picky.

This was the main conclusion to the series although there does seem to be one more book that works as a kind of the second epilogue still to come. This book was full of stuff trying to tie up all the loose ends.

We have Melody's sisters coming to stay with them. I really would have liked to see more of how their new family dynamic works with her siblings there. Hopefully, book 7 will fulfill this. Next was Melody and Arjun. This felt a bit rushed but I knew it must have been coming from this book. Wish it had happened one book soon though.

And then we have the fight against the shifter's captives and the man behind it all. I really didn't feel the shock value here and I had already guessed who it was a while ago. Also, this seems to be something that was harder on our shifters than on our MC.

Well, I'm hoping that the last book brings me the closure for this series I still need. This book did some of it. But I really do feel some things messing and I'm hoping book 7 will put it all to rest for me.

Ok, I'm not gonna lie, I enjoyed this series

Was it wow? Nope, not even close.

But it was well-written and it made me want to read the next chapter. And the next. And the next.

Overall, the characters were annoying at times and idiots at others, and I can't say that I liked them too much. The plot was fun, yes, but it had some gaps. The world-builder wasn't great, although it was interesting.

So, the question is, why did I like this series, right? Well, I have no idea. Maybe it was the writing style, or the plot, the fast-paced action, maybe it's because I just love circus books (I really do!), or maybe just because I was in a weird funk. I don't know.

What I can say is, I would definitely recommend this series if you're in need of a pizza and you don't have hight standards at that moment.

I can honestly say that fantasy reverse harems are my favorite. However, going even more specific Circus revolved reverse harems are my SHIT. And this was absolutely magnificent.

Lets just start with a character break down

Razvan- There's no way in hell you can tell me you didn't love him. I mean come on, yeah he was an asshole at first with the whole Ally situation but I mean.. genuinely wasn't his fault. Anyways, I loved him and Hunters relationship and how they were still able to build one alongside Mel. Also blades?? I have a thing for knives, I own many many cases of knives and the whole sword swallowing shit was amazing.

Hunter- Honestly he was important in the whole thing but I never really got attached to him. He was more of a background character for me and I skimmed over him and Mel talking most of the time. I think he brought more to the table with the group with I don't think he was a very vital character in general.

Alright so I have two favorite characters.

Arjun- Tiger shifters will always win me over, I mean seriously how can they not. Huge animals that are lazily involved in shit unless they're hunting? Count me in. I absolutely loved how his character added to the plot and the group as a whole. It was meaningful, along with his relationship with Mel now you don't get to see a whole lot of that but I was really nice when it was there.

Connor- Now now, this man, this man right here. I have so much fucking respect for. I always fall hard for the military guys, especially disabled vets. Knowing the ones that I have, it's a very real situation that he was in (minus the circus stuff you know what I mean). It was perfect in the aspect of him dealing with shit the way that he did. Also the added PTSD scene from I think the first book? Loved that scene. Anyways overall his character brought a lot of it together he was more of the glue than a vital part of the story and yet I loved him immensely.

Mel- Well damn bitch. She didn't fuck around. She wasn't the most badass FMC I've ever seen, but she wasn't a push over. She had a tragic backstory blah blah the normal, but what really drew me in was how sometimes she was incredibly naive and others she wasn't. I fully understand that, sometimes you get so caught up in what you want to do or help and you'll walk into anything to accomplish that. It was refreshing to see that she wasn't all guns blazing badass but wasn't naive and simply a push over like many I've seen.

The plot was.. kinda spotty at first. It never really solves itself into one thing and is more of a romance base that a plot based series. I got into it thinking it would be plot based, but I wasn't disappointed I throughly enjoyed the relationship that they built and the side characters that they met. I have a few questions that were never answered but it was still a great series. And circus themes will always get to me.

Questions-
Who the fuck was the guy at the end and why was he mentioned at all? I mean seriously I don't understand the point of it.
What was Zipper dudes purpose? Why was there an entire scene about him and then just nothing?
Why didn't we get answers about why Arjuns dad did what he did? I mean that scene wasn't explained well AT ALL you get absolutely nothing from it. Like I got the whole he wanted to make shifters the ruling species, but why do what he did to Arjun? Why did he kidnap them if he wanted them to rule? Why did he let Mel grow up on her own instead of training her from the start?

Anyways great series most likely will buy hard copies in the future.

If I'm being completely honest this was not a satisfactory end. In fact, for me, it reads as if the epilogue was cut in half. I didn't get the sense that things were headed in a good spot especially with Melody now pregnant, something she never wanted to happen while she was 18 but OK. Not only that but she still has to get to know Hunter's two kids if she's going to take on the mother role. Plus now they've taken on her four siblings. (Something I'm sure the mother will have a fit about as how will she collect any money for them now???) Besides no matter the good intentions they technically according to the law kidnapped and trafficked those kids across the country, something I imagine will come back to bite them in the ass. And now that's so many kids to care for and only one of them (Connor) has a job in the end. Sure they were given a house and can hunt for food but hot damn that sounds like a hot mess more than HEA. They will have 7 kids under 18 to care for when Mel has hers, thank goodness she has four men. Combine this with the fact that they took down this evil shaman and released a whole slew of shifters into the world. They never solved the problem for the shifters and they did nothing to help protect them in the future. There are still now evil humans that know of shifters and will surely continue on the Doctor's work. It was a quick enough series and wasn't a heavy read but I do wish the epilogue felt more conclusive.

Okay overall thoughts: loved it. theres a flow to all the books and they're easily digestible. I know it wasnt necessarily Melody's responsibility but it felt like she wasnt too concerned about her siblings or at least it seems like they took a backseat to her adventures. The kid's in general didn't get enough screentime. I would've loved for them to be more involved

The Illusion

I love how this series took a turn and how it ended! I honestly felt like their was really no plot until book 4/5 but I really enjoyed the storyline and continued. I was missing what actually was going to go down.

Mel is a hidden bada$$. Lol. She doesn’t know she is, but she fights for what is right and it comes off epic. I love allllll of the guys. Conner, Raz, Hunter and now officially Arjun. I didn’t see who was the cause of it all coming. 🤯. Then the ending. Mel has her siblings, her men and her future ahead of her! Just like she deserves. Excited to read the extended epilogue.

This was a good ending to a great storyline. I enjoyed the carnival aspect. I definitely enjoyed the romance. I just wish we had more plot earlier on.

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 4/5
*First person POV
*MM
*MMFMM Romance
*HEA? Yes, but theirs more

This series isn’t that good. The characters are one dimensional and shallowly written. There is too much internal drama (from within the harem). One or more of the males is always angry, giving her the silent treatment, or trying to breakup with her. This is like a poorly written soap opera. The relationships are shallow and I’m not convinced of anyones feelings. I think they just like to hurt each other and have sex.

I don’t particularly like the personalities of anyone in this book. I don’t particularly care for the FMC, but she is only 18, sooo… that’s probably understandable. I don’t like the way the MM relationship was written.

There are some things I do like about this series so far. I like the circus atmosphere. I like the world building. I like the plot. I just don’t like the harem or their relationships.

A fitting end

Great final installment. There was gonads and strife. But lots of love and hope without being too sappy. The series was wrapped up nicely and there could even be possible spinoff stories. I really enjoyed this series!

Loved it!

I really enjoy the story and especially the characters in this series. The only problem I have is that this is the final book I want more of this family. I hope we can have a spinoff but that is just my wishful thinking. Enjoy!

“Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls” Presenting Harem of Freaks - the Unfulfilled Potential!

SERIES REVIEW
I hate what this author has done to this story. My biggest gripe is the piecemeal format in which the story is told. Why do authors think it’s a good idea to make series where each instalment is only about 100 pages? Is this financially motivated or is to build suspense or hype? I don’t get it. If you have enough material to fill in 6 books, hell go ahead and do it. But don’t drag a single moment climax across 6 books if the only build up to that moment is just introduction of characters, and not even giving an in-depth exploration of people and events leading to that moment. It’s just lazy. If you are going to write 6 books, make each one count in its own right.

I would have enjoyed this series more if it was written as a standalone with +500 pages. I loved the potential of the story and the setting. It’s different from the rubber stamp plots found in most RH PNR. If I had read this series before it concluded I would have given up after the 1st or 2nd book. The only reason I was able to get to the end is because after each book, the next one is already available. But it was still irritating as hell because more than 1/3 of the new book is rehashing what you just read in the last books, giving you less than 2/3 of new material in the new book.

What I didn’t like
•Short books that don’t tell any story, except to introduce characters Book 1 to 3
•Rushed events that are told in a “by the way” manner, even though they were the main or the only events in the book
•There was a lot of sword swallowing, this is not a euphemism. In every single book and sometimes more than once in one book. If only all the other events were given that much attention.
•No villain until the last chapters of the last book, and also presented in a very underwhelming and disappointing manner.

Why I stuck with the series – HOPE – with each page and each next book, I really hoped that this is it, may be, just maybe this is when things will start happening. At book 5, it almost got there, but nope it was another miss. I never understood why they say "hope" is a demon. For me, with this series, hope was an enemy that tied me to the promise of a better next page or a better next book only to crush me with a bitterness of an unfulfilled promise.

I thought this finale was really done well by Crystal Ash. We get a lot of tension between Arjun and Melody, some amazing group moments with the guys and Melody too 🥵 (I wish it didnt have to end haha) and get to meet the bad guy and deal with some nasty villains. I thought the ending was well paced, nothing too drawn out, good back and forth and coming together to defeat Arjun’s stepfather. I felt so bad for Arjun and the guys but they did a great job staying strong and using Melody’s strength to help defeat the organization. I will say the way Melody was able to do things in the climax/pinnacle of the confrontation wasnt really explained. I know it was mentioned and hinted at in different books leading up to it, but it was never explained as like a power of hers or a side effect, etc. I wont give anything away, but that was my only complaint for the storyline.

I loved the ending, made me tear up and smile so hard (and to learn there was an extended epilogue story was even better)!! I loved seeing the side-plot regarding Melody’s family come back and then have closure. I thought the siblings were adorable and Jeannie did a great job keeping them safe/together until the group could help them get out of the terrible home situation. I am not sure if any spinoffs will come from this world, but I would love to see some with Hunter’s kids, Melody’s siblings, and Melody’s kids (Maybe Miriam and her men have some babies too??). That would be cool to see how things changed 15-20 years later, but that’s just me haha. I know once the muse leaves an author its hard to go back, so I completely understand.

Loved binge listening then reading this series. Gonna get back to the extended sexy epilogue and short story of Miriam and her guys (duuuuuude soooo good!).

HOLY FREAKING PHENOMENAL!!!
OMG! Wow! Talk about dropping the bomb! I'm standing in total awe of Crystal, her talents and imagination seriously seems to be of a whole universe in wonder and endless possibilities. She totally rocked this bad boy to the core. I mean, really, what did I think was gonna happen. I am talking about an author that can take you from crying your eyes out, down on your knees the next, right on to mad as hell a nanosecond later. She writes with such passion that just flows through the pages bringing this fantastic storyline and thrilling plot roaring to life spectacularly. She builds a whole new family that you can't help but fall in love with. A kick-ass female lead that shows just how bad she can be. She weaves all the love for the characters right through and flowing so smoothly like a puzzle piece. They all come together so beautifully it's breathtaking. It's like watching our kids growing up and leaving home for the first time. I love Crystal's style and the adventures she takes us on. The characters are complex, believable and so realistic with such depth and individuality it balances each characters traits as it blends. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it's like being right there in the middle of ground zero with them and not on the sidelines. This whole series was just mind blowing and that ending. Oh man. Remarkable job Crystal, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Fantastic ending yet bittersweet

This series seriously blew me away! I was completely taken by surprised once I finished the first book. The character development, plot line, relationship building were all done perfectly. This is a series that I could tell the author poured her heart and soul into and wasn’t something she hammered out super quick to meet a deadline.

My favorite aspect of the series is the relationship building, real life relationship issues, and just maintaining said relationships while juggling between all 4 men. None of the relationships felt rushed or shallow in my opinion, even though there was an element of insta-lust, not insta-love necessarily.

The plot line with Mel being a shaman, the enslaved shifters, and the welfare of Mel’s siblings all came to a head in this book and was the main focus of this book. All of these points were touched on during the series but these seemed to all become more of frontrunners in this book compared to the others.

The steam is still pretty hot with a nice helping of MM. Arjun and Mel’s relationship both physical and emotionally progressed in this book. I loved seeing Arjun change his tune from accusing all the men being wrapped around Mel’s finger to himself being wrapped around her finger.

Overall this series was fantastic and I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for RH with complex and in depth relationships, shifters, MM, and plenty of steamy scenes!

Crystal Ash did an amazing job with Curtain Call the last book of the Harem of Freaks series.

The world just turned upside down for Arjun when he realized that his stepfather is the one who has been capturing shifters and torturing them. Now Melody, Connor, Razvan, Hunter and Arjun must figure out how to take him down and rescue all the captured shifters.

I love how determine Melody is even when the odds are set against her, her interaction to Arjun and the chemistry between them is so hot! I had a lot of laughs watching her and Arjun. What a prick he can definitely be! Melody is one tough gal, doing everything she can do to learn her shaman powers knowing it might not be enough. The interaction of the men, the storyline and what you get? An amazing finale! I absolutely love reading the Harem of Freaks series, there's plenty of twist and intrigue and of course quite a bit surprise too. A definite must read! I can't wait to see what else Crystal brings!

Here it is, the end of the journey! It was fun and exhilarating. All the main characters (and secondary too) were charming, fun anf strong. I loved them all, honestly.

In any case, I'm so ready to read the whole book full of epilogues. Maybe it'll sove the issue I've just talked about! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Overall Review for the series:

It definitely enjoyed the world the author created and how each one of the characters in the harem had different personalities and their own insecurities and such. Personally I thought the 6 books could be condensed down to 3, but whatever, more money for the author.

It kept reminding you that the main character was 18, but I think it kept reminding you of this because none of these characters seemed like the age they were (18-23ish). I don’t know if the author wanted the characters to be younger for a New Adult type of age group or what, but they all seemed too mature to be in that age range. Which I’m totally cool with because I ignore that it kept saying she was 18 and just read like she was mid 20’s or so.

Drama. Smut. Imperfect characters. Bisexual relationships. Overall pretty fun set of books.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

As the title aptly states this is the final curtain call on Mel and her harem, and it fit the series perfectly. After everything this group has been through it was nice to see them finally get their HEA. Similar to the rest of the series, this was a fast-paced, quick read. My preference is to have long, super in-depth and slow burn stories but this series always hit the mark when I wanted something faster. The final book has a lot of action as they fight the villain discovered in the last book, some romance with the hold-out Arjun, and ties up some other loose ends as well, before the aforementioned HEA.

Such a great book

I have greatly enjoyed each book Of this series, haunting the author page until I see a new release and reading and consuming it until each book ended.

I wasn’t expecting this to be the end of Melody’s journey, although it makes sense. Selfishly I want more. More adventure. More of seeing Melody in love and happy with her guys.

Regardless of my selfishness, the book ends well. Her journey is nearly finished. More stories could be told, but that’s true of every story. Everything is ended neatly, and we say goodbye to these characters in the very best way we can. With a happily ever after, happiness, and love.

A pretty great series as a whole. You definitely need to read all of them and in order, they read more like one long book with cliff hangers that will keep you hooked.
I wish we could have had a look into their future at the end of the series;) i was not ready to let them go... I had more questions;)

Issues- There are several times where extra or wrong words muss up the flow. In earlier books the kids are left alone... A lot!
So, i usually try to avoid m/m but.... It's here anyway. And I am still trying to figure out how he inserts behind yet they r chest to chest?!? Kinda ruins their big love moment for me...lol.

Curtain Call: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance (Harem of Freaks Book 6) by Crystal Ash is a story that all I can say is WOW!!!!. This story from the very begining kept my interest and left me wanting more after each story. Mainly cause when I read stories writen by Crystal Ash she makes me feel like I am living the story not just reading it. I can not wait to see what she writes next so I can go on my next adventure. I highly recommend this story ,autor and series to everyone who loves reading everything and anything paranormal.

This was a wonderful conclusion

I love the characters and the plot that were created in this series. As foretold Mel had to face hell before she got her happily ever after, but what a happily ever after it is. I am sad we don't get to see more of the future because I will really missed the characters.

This series was fast-paced but well written. I feel like I could use an extra book with an extended epilogue for the characters because I'm actually curious on how they will settle after all the obstacles on their path.

This book provides an excellent conclusion to an amazing series. The book is well written and the characters and stories are well developed. I love the characters with their individual personalities and seeing their relationship dynamics prosper and develop through the books. The story was amazing as always. There’s action, emotion, intrigue, suspense, hot chemistry and romance. I’ve loved this series and this book and can not recommend them/this enough!!

Nice series

Overall a decent series that progressively got better and steamy. I love the carnival twist qith paranormal fun. The steamy times were great as well. J tap-dancing C stop using the word vulva lol it's seriously cringey in all the dirty talk like really? That was really my only peeve because it was in each book. Otherwise it was a nice series, not great or wow, but still good with a little to much needless drama or too close to insta-feelings (like over a few days to a week or 2), but otherwise enjoyable.

Gah! The conclusion of this series is PERFECT! Aside from a plan gone awry (don't they all?), Mel and her boys pull together to battle evil on its own turf and, I swear, it's one of the best things I've read lately. The dance scene, where Mel finally realizes her power, is so carefully detailed and plotted and may be my favorite in the whole series. I've come to really like Mel, despite the occasional whining and droning. But...Arjun. Arjun is the savior of this series. If you read it for nothing else, read it for him.
