Curse you Olivia Gaines for distracting me during NaNoWriMo! I spent the entire morning and afternoon reading this book when I should have been writing. But it was soo worth it.
I bonded with Khloe’s character immediately. She was the type of chick I could see as my friend. The way her job treated her was so typical. They were only looking out for their interest. I would have loved it if she at least threatened them with a lawsuit after she almost got shot during her shift by a co-worker’s insane wife.
Beau was a work of art. He was such a simple, no nonsense man who knew what he wanted and didn’t back down. When he set his eyes on Khloe, he just knew. I loved how when the moonshine got my girl spilling all of her tea, he listened and strategically asked the questions she was too guarded in her sober state to answer.
As usual, I really enjoyed the quirky supporting characters. I am still trying to wrap my head around that Ennis character. LAWD! I liked Jethro’s character a lot and would have liked to have seen more of him. Maybe he will find love after that rash clears up. Lol
This was a great story, and in parts, funny as hell. Both of the protagonists were likeable, and meshed together in a believable way, considering the whole 'mail-order bride' set up. (I really loved Beau and his slow steamy ways...lol). The side characters were a hoot, even though I thought that some of their behaviors and antics were a little over-the-top (i.e. stereotypical hillbillies). I did find it odd that Beau had formed an opinion of his cousin's friend without knowing anything about the poor, very unattractive man, when he stated on two occasions that Ennis was uglier on the inside than he was on the outside...where did that come from? Anyway, 'The Tennessee Mountain Man' was an enjoyable, entertaining read. 3.5 stars.
Poor Nurse Practitioner Khloe Burgess was having the worst luck ever. First, she was almost attacked while jogging, then her mother set her house on fire with her in it, then she was forced to take a leave of absence for something she was not guilty of. Then her boyfriend dumped her and left her stranded in New York where she was almost mugged. But that is where her luck changed when she was rescued by matchmaker extraordinaire Coraline Newair of Perfect Match. Khloe decided that she needed a break and a change from her life. Her mother was gone, her brother abandoned her along with her father, she'd lost all of her possessions in the fire. She had nothing else to lose. She matched perfectly with the mountain man of Tennessee Beauregard Montgomery, the owner of Montgomery Communications company. Neither one of them knew how things were going to work out but both were willing to take the chance. Each and every day, they found themselves falling more and more in love with each other and Khloe was accepted by the community and the Montgomery clan. She was loving her relationship with not only Beau but his family as well, giving her everything she ever wanted and needed in her life, a real live loving family. It was not until after the dam break did she discover the secret to her mother's dysfunctional drinking and the reason why she never felt bonded to her own mother. She finally had the guts to stand up to her brother for not caring enough about their mother to dig deeper into what caused their mother to drink and why their father left.
Olivia wrote a heartbreaking story of Khloe's life but it ended up heartwarming with Beau, his family, and the Harbuck town being all that she needed to feel fulfilled. I think she did disjustice to herself and her mother by not having the incriminating evidence she found tested if not for herself, then for her children.
Olivia has such a way with words and always spices her stories with humor throughout her tales. I chuckled the entire book. The epidemic of that infectious rash had me rolling. That small country town was quite active. I was kind of hoping that maybe Coraline would work her magic on poor Ennis. I felt so sorry for him. He obviously needed and wanted love. I am happy as always to read that the main characters Beau and Khloe got their HEA in the end.
This was a total surprise and an excellent read. These people were quirky as usual. The interaction great and the humor spot on. I need to head to New York...lol
Khloe believes her life is routine until one particular day Murphy's law kicks in like the Energizer Bunny and starts giving like a leaky faucet turning into Niagara Falls. She's lost her ability to find joy and with the Falls still flowing,b unfortunate circumstances lead her to a nice lady who wants to help her find joy and hope. Humor is sprinkled strategically, yet unexpectedly throughout which may get you strange looks from passersby (like I did as I listened while driving and shopping) as I LOL several times. The storyline and characters are well developed and written in such a way that will hopefully allow you to find your own joy. I had to read this a second time to realize my joy was missing when I originally purchased it. I found my joy in the everyday and reading this a second time. Amazing!
I adore reading stories like this. It was heart felt strong intense and humous. Ms. Gaines always bring the humor in her stories. The romance was beautiful with good built up to the plot. Secondary characters love them they made the story Ennis I would do him read the way she describes him and you will know why. The Hero/Heroine I like them. I was roofing for them all the way. I LOVE THIS STORY!!!!!!
Relatable characters-✔️ Tender and sweet✔️ Funny✔️ Romance with a twist. Ms. Gaines writes wonderful couples that I can get behind! Love, love, love Khloe ‘s strength and straight talk honesty. Beau is as appealing! Supportive big bear! Must read! Loved everything about this story. There’s no ridiculous interfering, just two people discoing themselves and their mate!
This is my first book but Olivia Gaines and I am disappointed that I didn't find her sooner. I sense an Olivia Gaines binge coming soon. I loved the Kloe and Beau. They were a wonderful couple, who took a leap of faith and found healing and love. Would certainly read this one again.
There are many messages in this book the greatest one is that love is the greatest healer of all. And several places I laughed out loud. Many of the colloquialisms had me rolling on the floor laughing. This is a fast read and an enjoyable one. Don’t allow the typos to be distracting it’s a great story.
I love the way Beau called he called Khloe is woman. Khloe put Beau in his place several times, I think he did it on purpose. I love how Khloe handle the rash that was spreading through the town, now that was totally an awkward moment for some, but that's mountain folks for you. Great job as usual Mrs. Olivia.
Oh my Guuuurdddd! This is my new favorite! I say that every time, but this time... I loved this story. The interaction between all the characters was on point! This needs a sequel!!!!!
When you know who yoy are and what you want nothing less will do
There was a lot going on in this story. Multiple dynamic relationships and stort lines were on play. There was so much to understand about Khloe. She was a take charge type of woman who at the same time seemed almost invisible. Beau was a wondering mountain man who knew there was life beyond the hills and he wanted his family to experience the best of it right where they were. His heart and thoughts are generous and thoughtful and you knew he would work hard to make Khloe happy and give her reasons to fall in love with him. As Khloe's heart and secrets became exposed she became more confident and more visible in his love and the love us his family and community. Khloe found her purpose. She was able to let go of her painful past and fully embrace her present. The colorful host of characters while seeming woefully ignorant were warm and accepting and in them she found a joy and a home thst she never found growing up. I would have liked to have seen her forge a relatiobship with her brother who traveled to Tennesse with a simple your sister needs you. However, we have to respect that she is going through revelation and discovery and in the midst of that her mountain man and new family are right there with her. She knew what she needed and it came in feeling cherished, supported, accepted, and loved by her husband.
Olivia Gaines... You did a wonderful job. First I would like to say I am ThAnkful this Thanksgiving for that Big Muf@&$&!!! Lol! People would have to read to understand our inside joke on that one. I could not stop laughing during that section of the book!!!! I read this book in two days. The only reason I could not finish it in one is because I have to drive to Southwest Georgia for Thanksgiving! I love this book. I love how you sprinkle in some of the characters from your other books as well. To answer some of the questions in the book club section... I didn’t think Khloe needed to do any further research on finding out who her father was. I think with her mom’s death and finding Beau... she had clarity in life. Yes, I think her brother was a punk ass for the way he handled things when Beau called for him. I can’t wait to see the other comments that will be written about the book. Also, I can’t wait to see what you are going to do for Katherine... I am going to read this over and over... Can’t wait until the next!
Yes Whole was write in not testing the clothes as she said she is over it and what could she get out of it. What if she found him what could he say to her to make her feel any different about her life. Looking back on Erica and how she self medicated and dealt with this issue. She did the best she know how but in the end she strained the relationship between her and her daughter. Beau getting to know While through his family was good sometimes when talking to your love interest you tend to only things that are not favorable but when talking to others where you have nothing vested is a different story. Metro knew that Beau appreciate him if Beau didn't I don't think Bathroom would invest so much of his time and energy into helping or giving him advice.
I am reading this entire series from the beginning. Yes, I am enjoying the read but, I am driven to comment about this one. There is a comical element to all of these stories that have caused me to stop and laugh out loud. The job of the nurse practitioner was close to me as Im also a nurse. The character handled herself professionally and with compassion. The author did her homework to find out what safe practices were and how people in small, closed communities react to different ethnicities. I do feel that too much was put into setting the mail order bride up. Yes, she came from sad beginnings but some of that could have been woven into the entire story. That scene setting was almost overwhelmingly sad to me.So far, this has been my favorite as I move on to the next adventure.
Khloe couldn't catch a break. Her mother is a drunk and no one knows why until the end. Being mail order bride was the best thing to happen to her. Beu and Khloe matched. Loved the family and all their different personalities. The issue with her brother and father was a bit cowardly. They left her there with no clue. Her mother lost a lot and had the people that should have tried to be there, were too weak to stand up for her when she couldn't. I don't blame Khloe for not wanting to look back but I think I would want to know who did it. Beau, bless his heart was exactly who she needed to know love. His family with all their craziness put Khloe back together. I felt the end was rushed and would have loved more surrounding the birth of their son.
Khloe Burgess had the worst luck, I mean THE WORST. So bad that her saving grace was the matchmaker that found her literally on the street. But when Khloe finds herself matching with Beau Montgomery her bad luck turns around.
I appreciate that Gaines doesn’t waste your time with extra drama and unnecessary filler. These relationships may move a bit fast, but they make sense, and that’s really all one can ask for.
I feel like Gaines is truly becoming a guilty pleasure for me. I find her books to be escapes, and I like that she makes a point to do something different every time.
I recommend this entire series to anyone who likes a good escape.
The Tennessee Mountain Man (Modern Mail Order Brides Book 8) is a very good and sweet interracial romantic comedy that earned a rating of five stars. Chloe Burgess and Beauregard Montgomery met through a mail order bride agency in New York city. They found what they needed in each other to make a good marriage. I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be very humorous and Inspirational. I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys reading very good interracial romantic comedies.
As implausible as a Tennessee mountain man wanting an African American wife, marrying her with no strife from the community is, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the humor, some of the stereotypes, his cousin Jethro, his ma and pa. I really enjoyed the resiliency and tenacity of the heroine, although she worried me in the beginning. I enjoyed the affectionate nature of the hero and loved the line where he said he had never seen a butt before that wasn't flat - funny.
But this ond take the cake, I laughed so hard it was funny like when she laughed at jetro rommie penis. This is a well written book I hope all will read it, ot will turn sadness into laughter. I know Olivia was laughing while writing this book. This book you can read over and over again and still laugh yourself silly. Toche' Olivia you did good.
I didn't know where He Gaines was initially taking us in this story. So much horrible in the beginning for Khloe. Then when she ended up in New York, I knew things were about to change for the better. Loved the big bear, Beau. The two of them ( Kylie and Beau) were perfect. This story was the perfect uplifting on a gloomy day. Beau's family are a hoot, as were the town folk. Loved it!
This book was so good! I had it on my wish list for a while, cause i pay for kindle unlimited but this book I would have to pay for. I was worried it wouldn't be worth the money. But i received a gift card and took the plunge. I'm so glad I did!! This book had me laughing out loud more than once! I loved the characters! And how they all fit together. The two main characters and all the family and even the towns people. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.
I enjoyed reading this book about Beau and Khloe! I especially liked how his family accepted Khloe into their family! I didn't like how Kalle treated her brother at the end because he was a child when he left their home and no child should have to live in the kind of environment that they lived! I do believe everyone will enjoy this book and I definitely recommend it!
I'm binge reading this series and have to say he onliners in THIS one are top shelf. I love the way Beau takes the bull by the horns after prodding from his cousin Jethro to find himself the wife he wants. While I don't like this way she found Coraline, I do like how the author got "fate" to work its magic. The typos were very distracting in all the works so far but this one more than the previous.
I have just recently started reading Olivia Gaines. This book doesn't seem to be her typical romance, however; I love a strong female. Also I am not reading them in order. I'm from TN and i could have without the attempt at making fun of the hill people. Yet as a nurse practitioner in Rual TN I had a similar experience, but much less dramatic. It was a good read to take my mind off the tornados crossing the state the last few days.
Fantastic story, made me laugh and cry all t h e way through
Olivia has a certain way of telling a story that is both comical and emotional, with deep meaningful messages that do not go amiss. This story has it all, addiction, abandonment, trust issues to name a few and most of all a sense of humour. An excellent story which anyone can enjoy!!
