Sally's earlier books have proven themselves as perennial favorites, and now she has taken herself to the perfect holiday a ski lodge. While at the resort, Sally makes lots of new friends, including two rescue dogs. She enjoys the comforts of the lodge, and tries her paws at various winter sports. But when night falls, Sally gets lost in the woods. How will she find her way back to the lodge?Featuring a sweet story and Stephen Huneck's unique illustrations, Sally's Snow Adventure will appeal to children and dog-lovers of all ages.
Stephen Huneck was an American wood carving artist, furniture maker, painter, and author. Most of his artwork is composed of carvings of dogs. In addition to carvings, Huneck also wrote several children's books, the main character of which was his black Labrador Retriever, Sally.
This is clearly an excuse to draw a lot of dogs and show dogs hanging out together. It completely succeeds in this mission. Any dog-loving young preschooler or other picture book reader would be very content.
J Picture Huneck Stephen Huneck's are a delight to read for children, as well as adults. His sense of humor shines through his illustrations and dry wit which will keep adults engaged. The large, bright illustrations are enjoyable for old and young. This book would be good for preschoolers as a Story Time book, as well as a read aloud lap book. The sparse amount of text would be good for beginning readers as well. This book is great for a mountain community, or resort town because it focuses on rescue dogs who find lost skiers. There are no people in this book, it's completely about dogs and a dog's point of view, however children can get the messages of being safe, having fun, making friends, and helping each other. This book would be good for a preschool class doing a unit on Winter, Winter Sports, Winter Safety, Friendship or Dogs. I love this book, and am saddened by the death of Stephen Huneck. I'm not sure how a person could create such joyful, lighthearted books and commit suicide at the same time. I am thankful that he shared his humor and delight with the world before he was gone. This would be a great gift for any dog lover, as well as preschoolers through third graders, especially those living in a mountain/resort town.

Sally is a funny black Labrador who is gorgeously illustrated in this fantastic series by Stephen Huneck. In this installment, Sally gets lost in the snowy woods, and the other dogs on the snowy mountain rescue her -- the way they all work together to help their new friend will have young kids (and grownups) cheering!
This is a good fun book about Sally who has gone to a mountain lodge to enjoy snowboarding, skiing etc. She wanders off and gets lost but gets rescued by the rescue dogs thanks to her new friends missing her. A nice tale about about all the fun of winter sports and some of the dangers. Gentle and cleverly told.
