Tijdloos en sprakeloos.

The drawing is pretty. The story is somewhat empty and aimless. I can't say I don't like it because I have read it enough time for it to at the very least have sentimental value but it requires me to be in a very specific state of mind to enjoy it.

It's more emotion driven than plot driven which isn't a bad thing on it's own but it also seems to be insistent on building emotional impact on the premise and not the character development which makes it seem flat and not well thought out. The fact that it's a graphic novel is really what saves it because that at least adds to the story. Otherwise it would give off the impression of a creative writing student's first draft. Just a solid piece of homework.

Still, those are all relatively tame complaints. In the end, it's readable and pretty and that is what really matters. (and it does have some semblance of story, don't get me wrong)

Llega justo a las cuatro estrellas. El dibujo, el color y el ritmo narrativo de la historia (incluyendo los sueños intercalados y los recuerdos funcionan bien); mientras que la coherencia narrativa y sobretodo los saltos en relación al narrador y el punto de vista tienen algunas lagunas. Aun así llegamos al final con unos personajes que han crecido y se han dejado querer. Una BD clásica.

Drôle de BD... qui commence comme un suspense et qui se conclut sur un ton plutôt ésotérique. Malgré tout, j’ai aimé l’amitié entre les personnages, les couleurs spectaculaires, la mer au large de Gênes et la forêt sauvage du Costa-Rica.

Une très belle histoire.

L'histoire commence avec 4 enfants. Devenu amis, lié par une date de naissance en commun, un lien incroyable les unis. Et puis, un drame survient et tout change. Il faudra attendre 20 ans avant que leur chemin se recroise. Ils se lancent dans une nouvelle aventure, et vont découvrir des choses incroyables.

Une magnifique histoire d'amour et d'amitié. La thématique est intéressante et plutôt originale. Les illustrations sont très belles, c'est un réel plaisir de lire cet ouvrage. J'ai été complètement happée par l'univers et l'intrigue. J'ai beaucoup aimé.

Een apart verhaal met een coming of age inslag in het eerste deel. De personages zijn niet echt memorabel en het verhaal is een beetje een 13 in een dozijn geval.

Het is aardig, maar ook niet meer. Het tekenwerk is ook niet geheel top met soms ruwe stukken.

Nicely structured story with a 20 year gab in the middle. The drawings focus on the most important parts and keep the rest simple, making for a relaxed and fluid reading experience.

Eine wunderbare Geschichte über eine sehr besondere Freundschaft, die in zwei Teilen mit 20 Jahren Unterbrechung erzählt wird. Den Autoren gelingt es, in einem Comic sehr viel Tiefgang zu entwickeln, mit einer großartigen Balance zwischen Humor und Tragik. Ein fantastisches Element rundet das ganze ab - absolut zu empfehlen.

De tekeningen zijn functioneel, het verhaal interessant. Het eerste deel van een tweeluik, dus veel vragen en weinig antwoorden. De manier waarop een kleine gemeenschap reageert op nieuwkomers is perfect weergegeven en begrijpelijk. Het tweede deel ligt al op m'n nachtkastje.

3 sterren voor het verhaal, niet omdat het niet goed is maar omdat ik niet gewend ben aan de snelle afwikkeling van een verhaal, eigen aan strips. Ik bleef wat verweesd achter na de laatste bladzijde.
Een extra ster omdat het opmerkelijk mooi en slim opgebouwd is.

Nice drawings, poetic story, but as a stand-alone this one does not hold up, but in combination with tome 2 though, it is worth reading if you have an hour or two of spare time...
