Nox Bay Pack #2

Protecting His Heart

Rate this book
Can two broken men find peace from the past?

Elliot is a survivor. Raised in a strict community where might makes right, Elliot runs off in search of a better life. When Nox Bay rescues him from the Black Hands, he's on his own for the first time in his life...and the tall, muscular bodyguard the pack Alpha keeps around keeps doing funny things to his heart. But Elliot isn't into guys...right?

Arric is a hardened warrior and the Second Hand of the Nox Bay Pack. He's seen too much death and destruction to get too attached to anyone, and that suits him just fine. He's basically married to the job anyway. But when a small, broken omega crosses his path and needs his help, he realizes that fate has a match in store for him after all. Can he let down his guard long enough to fall in love, and can they both put their pasts behind for a better future?

When Elliot's old flight of dragon shifters find out where he is, they'll be back for blood. And this time, they control one of the four pivotal Keys of Life--an elemental reckoning is coming, and it might just be enough to tear them apart.

Will their fledgling love survive the flames?

Connor Crowe grew up reading stories about dragons, magic, and adventure. He often liked to imagine himself as a character in those stories, and as he grew older he began to write some of them down. He couldn't just write any old fantasy, though. As a die-hard romantic, he tells stories of men finding true love amidst adversity.

When you read a Connor Crowe book, you know you're getting action-packed fantasy mpreg that will make your heart race in more ways than one ;)

I loved this book! Really liked both MC's a lot and the story was such that last night when I decided to "just" read one chapter, instead I ended up staying up later than I should cuz I just could not put it down. Made me a tiny bit thankful it was short... though only a tiny bit cuz I WANT so much MORE from this world! I cannot wait till the next book comes out!!!!

Equality, love, and a bunch of action

This novella carries right along from the last few words of the previous book and keeps up the action from there on. While this keeps interest it continues to sacrifice any explanation of the larger world this takes place in, which remains a very curious place.

Arric and Elliot are mates and are finding it out at the worst time. With Nox Bay in flux after the events of the last book and Elliot having been a part of the Black Hand it is difficult to see their future. When it turns out Elliot joined the Black Hand to run from his old pack things get even worse as more threats come knocking on Nox Bay's door.

It is very fast that Elliot and Arric realize they are mates but then that seems to be the way of these shifters. Though Elliot has had bad experiences with alphas in the past it becomes increasingly clear to him that Arric is nothing like that. Arric is kind and open to Elliot and wants nothing more than to protect him and be with him as an equal partner. This lets the two of them quickly connect and makes for a sweet love story amidst the action.

The end is on a bit of a cliffhanger with a new character coming in that is a bit of a mystery. With the storyline of the stones it seems this could be leading to a last book to finish up the story being told here.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Nox Bay Pack series. In this book, we pick up the story of the omegas being freed from the Black Hands and Elliot finds himself on his own for the first time in his life. Elliot left his former pack looking for somewhere to belong and found himself with the Black Hands. Now Elliot is being looked after by Arric, the second in command of the Nox Bay pack. Arric and Elliot find a treasure they know they have to take to the alpha. Arric is a workaholic who never made time to find a mate, so he is shocked when he realizes Elliot is his fated mate. Elliot feels a pull toward Arric, but he is straight and wonders if Arric could be his fated mate. Elliot feels safe with Arric and wants to be with him, but a dragon from Elliot's past has found him and brings danger to everyone. I liked this second book, i liked Elliot and thought he was stronger than he thought he was. I think Arric loved him from the moment he realized he was his fated. I think Arric never allowed himself to want his own family and when he found his mate, he accepted Elliot and any issues Elliot had. Good one and i look forward to the next book.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

What a great second book in the Nox Bay Pack series!! I loved it! It starts where the first book ends. It can be read alone, but I recommend reading book one first. The characters are so full of life. They will suck you in to their story and not let go. Yes, old enemies are back, new ones come in to play. There is bravery, loyalty, compassion, passion, angst, and MM sex.
Elliott is an omega the world has chewed up and spit out. Hiding from his dragon shifter wing, he joins the thieves guild Black Hands, which treats him worse than his past life. When they are defeated, he is found by Nox Bay Pack second Arric. A career soldier, Arric is neither looking for nor wants a mate, until Fate steps in and throws Elliott in his path. They both have a lot to overcome before their HEA. When the showdown comes, get ready for unexpected courage, loyalty, and acceptance.
You will love this book. I cannot wait for the next in the series.
Due to language, violence, and MM sex, this book is intended for 18+ readers.

Let there be dragons! Love love me some dragons. I loved both Elliot, the omega, and Arric, the alpha. Poor Elliott having to go to those mean nasty people and basically begging to join because he is on the run. That broke my heart. Arric was so blown away that he found his fated mate that it took him a minute to fire it out. And OMG we have a total virgin and an anal virgin. The anal virgin never knew that guys could get together so I loved watching them go into this and figure it all out. This book picks up where the first book ends so I would recommend not reading it as a standalone. I can’t wait until we start having hybrid babies. I’m curious on what they will shift into. Or will they be able to shift into both, that would be so cool. These stories are pretty quick reads with no angst, just have to deal with other packs. I can’t wait to continue on with this series.

ARC provided by LesCourt Services in exchange for an honest review.

Arric and Elliott...the wolf and a dragon?
This was a very good sequel to the first book in the Nox Bay Pack series, picking virtually right where the first book ends, and relating the adventures of the next pair of fated mates. Arric is the second in command to the Alpha of the Nox Bay Pack and he's not quite sure what to make of his true mate, Elliott, an omega who their pack has just rescued from the Black Hand compound in the aftermath of the Heart of the Ocean/Fist of the Mountain debacle at the end of book one.
Elliott seems quite happy to follow his mate and there's a few surprising revelations that occur in due course...I learned that a number of dragons is called a flight...and where else would they live except somewhere called the Emerald Isles? And be tasked with guarding the Heart of the Hearth (the fire element key)...a scorcher? This is recommended for all MPreg shifter fans out there. I'm looking forward to book 3!

🔥🔥🔥 Heat Level: 3.5

Full of action, adventure, heart, and healing!!

I loved this story!!! Elliot and Arric are perfect together. I love that Arric waited for his fated mate and I loved that he was able to help Elliot heal from his torturous past of being downtrodden and made to feel broken. The story is incredibly fast-paced and short but so detailed and action-packed you can’t help but be hooked. I’m still in awe that so much can happen and so many feelings and connection can be generated between reader and story with so few words. A true talent, Connor!!!

I love this pack and all the characters and I can’t wait to see what Connor will do next. I look forward to more of Markus & Felix. Elliot & Arric and all the other fated mates to come from this unique pack.

This is the second book in the series of Nox Bay Pack and it's a quick one.
Though I think there could have been more back story for the MC's and for the enemy they face, I still enjoyed the book overall. The characters show a strong sense of self and fight for what they want and believe in, both the alpha and omega. There's a sweet building of a relationship between Arric and Elliot as well as a development with the overall plot involving the Nox Bay Pack and the Keys of Life, which is an interesting story in itself in what the Keys of Life can do.
We have interaction with Felix and Markus from book one and I like that their friendships continue on through the series.
I'd recommend this book and series for fans of short shifter stories with fated mates and mpreg.
I received an ARC and am hapily giving a review

This is a short but enjoyable quick read & the second book in the series “Nox Bay Pack” The plot is well-written & filled with unexpected events. The characters continue to develop throughout the story-line to become emotional strong individuals.
There is: various kinds of shifters, a thieves guild (Black Hands), a wolf shifter warrior who is social quite awkward (Arric), a dragon shifter omega who is emotional broken (Elliott), a cruel & domineering female dragon shifter (Tiratina), twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, magical keys, enemies, danger, threats, conflict, violence, action, attractions, fated mates, memories, nightmares, confrontations, fear, declaration, anguish, a surprises, love, happiness & some steam.
I look forward to the next book with great anticipation.

Good book🐺🐉

I received this book by the author and This is my honest opinion.
This is book 2 in the series and were introduced to a wolf/Dragon pairing. Elliot is an omega dragon, classed as weak he's bartered off to a horrible female. Desperate he leaves where he comes across the nox pack and of course his mate Arric a wolf shifter. But not content she wants what's hers and causes trouble.
I enjoyed this book and all its novelty ideas which made it refreshing and imaginative that really added a nice touch. I felt for Elliot and all he had to endure, these characters really endeared themselves to me. It was a fitting ending, and again was like a slightly darker grimm fairy tale take on the villain getting there comeuppance and the case of misused magical objects. A good book

A sequel that earned it's place in the lineup for sure. But I wish it were longer. There is so much going on, so much story, so many elements, that it should be turned into a novel. I really enjoyed this one and found it even more interesting than the first, though I wasn't sure this story's events could outshine Felix. Even though Arric spends a lot of time squashing and denying his feelings and urges what builds between him and Elliot turns into something memorable. The dragons, female alphas, stones, and powers were all attention-grabbing. Though I will say the pregnancy testing stone part was a bit...strange, it was something I was willing to overlook in favor of just enjoying the overall story. 3.5 rounded up.

this is the 2nd book in Nox Bay Pack series. This continue with the Omega freed from the evil Black Hand. Arric is busy being the 2nd in command of the pack and never thought he would find that one that is fated to him. Elloitt feels a pull to Arric but knows that he can not continue with the mating. He has ran from his home to get away from the crazy dragon that say that he was promise to her as her mate. You see the bond that the mates have and protect each other. the mystery magic artifact found in the most unlike place. do recommend that you read the book in order to have background of the pack. highly recommend this series if love to read about shifters

Quick and heated read

Book two about the Nox Bay wolves, has second in command Arric finding his fated mate in Omega Elliott. Problem is Elliott has a dragon alpha hunting him.
Arric and Elliott seem like a bit of an odd couple but they work well and have a little angst to keep things interesting and although they get their HEA the story doesn't finish there for them, which means we the readers have more to look forward to.
This book is the perfect length for a lunch break read but you will want to read the series in order. Recommend it.

Protecting His Heart is the second book in Connor Crowe's Nox Bay Pack series. It's a short and enjoyable shifter omegaverse read. Very fun!

Elliot and Arric are great characters and the story entertaining, furthering the story we have of the Nox Bay pack. Definitely a satisfying addition to the series. I can't wait for more.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

A really sweet story

Arric was a wonderful and gentle Alpha.

“I would protect his body with my own. I would protect his heart.”

Elliot went through a lot of verbal abuse from his first “pack” and I liked how Arric showed and told him he was worth so much.

I enjoyed this one more then the first. My only complaint is I wished it was longer. It was nice that it continues right after the first book and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one.

A fun quickie!💋

Socially awkward Alpha wolf shifter and "broken" Omega Dragon shifter, brought together by fate. While each battles his demons, they find their strength in each other.

I love these little novellas by Crowe. They are the perfect read for when you need a good quick shifter fix.

The writing/ editing is flawless, pace is good, characters are what you expect for A/O relationships, as are the sexy/ knotty times! 😁

I enjoyed this quick read. This world is interesting, especially with the potential for inter-shifter species mating. I liked the continuation of events from the first book in the series. Elliot and Arric are both very likable and great together, and I liked watching Elliot grow and strengthen while finding his place in the world.

I received a complimentary ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.

I really enjoyed these two main characters. Their dynamic was good, full of love, and validation. The plot thickens and definitely is interesting. I enjoyed the domestic bliss type scenes and found that they were a nice addition to the storyline. It is a very quick read and left me waiting waiting with baited breath for the next installment.

Short lived.

I am really enjoying this series and I absolutely looked the first book! But this one felt really short to me? Like there was at least in my opinion a few different ways I could pin point as a reader that this story could have been expanded. It felt more like a 1.5 than a book 2. I am pumped for the next one though I hope this was a fluke!

This is a quick and cute read that is a great addition to this series. When Elliot is rescued by the Nox Bay pack, Arric realizes that's his mate. They have chemistry and a good connection but have some obstacles to overcome. I am looking forward to the next book in this series since I was kind of left hanging at the end. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Same as the First Book

More in this serialized novel. This short book contains a very fast short plot, with little to no character development and no denouement. Characters meet, things happen immediately, there’s a major conflict - Bam! - one side wins and it’s now the end of this book and we’re left with a lead into the next book.

There is really nothing to this series or the books. Every book is following a formula: two males + instalove + one sex scene + one sudden pregnancy+ a minuscule dash of plot. It not like the books are badly written but everything is glossed over. It feels like the outline of a story rather than the actual book

I did not like that Cruella person. She was downright mean and nasty. But I did like the others. And we’re gonna have babies 👶. All is fine in the world. Thank you for writing this Connor.
