Four captivating manuscripts in one Five Tudor monarchs sat on the throne of England and Ireland from 1485 to 1603. The family earned their royal rights through strategic planning and battlefield prowess, and kept them because of intellect, strength and sheer determination. The Tudors, one of England’s most powerful and famous royal dynasties, knitted together a fragmented and small island nation that became one of the world’s financial, colonial and technological superpowers.
There is so much more to the story of these kings and queens than beheadings, political marriages and the reformation of the church – but those events remain some of the family’s most enthralling moments.

I loved how this was 4 books in one!! I loved learning more in depth about the Tudor dynasty before and after Henry VIII. Very detailed accounts about their lives and important events in British history. I enjoyed it!
A must read if you are a fan of British history and the Tudors. Highly recommended!
Kindle Unlimited, maybe one of my owned ones will have to check, know read it just for some reason didn't do review {sometimes goodreads lags behind amazon on getting books listed too so possible forgot to go back}. Still hoping for RichardIII, but the probable real story about how Henry actually did what history books now claim Richard did, though older books of the time say otherwise.

I want to preface this review by stating that I only read the book that was the Captivating Guide to the Tudors.
I see many people have reviewed this set of books very highly, and for someone just delving into this era of English history, it is a pretty good introduction. It gives a good overview of the cast of characters involved and keeps the "chapters" relatively short and sweet, making it quick and easy to read.
As someone who has read more detailed books on this era of English history and its more famous faces, however, I lost interest in the book, which is why I stopped after the first one in the set of four. There were some inaccuracies and typos, and granted, while it might have been to keep it at a simply introductory level, I felt that it over simplified some of the figures and kept them cast in the biased roles of good and bad that time has assigned to them, even though additional research has shown some of previous biases to be questionable and potentially wrong.
None of this is to discourage people from reading these books. They are part of a larger series that has received numerous positive reviews, so they are clearly doing something right. And again, as an introductory to this time period and the players involved, it is a good tool. But if you are someone who already has a background in this area of history, I would recommend looking elsewhere for additional books on these topics.
I loved this, it was written in an interesting interesting manner, it gives us a good amount of information even if they don’t really go into things that deeply. I really enjoyed reading this, when this was something I thought to read when I was bored and didn’t really want to read anything I was currently reading so I expected to take months to read the four books, I read it in less than a month.
Interesting. There was a lot more to the book than Henry VIII and his wives who probably everyone has heard of because he was so infamous. It starts with who the Tudors where, how that came about followed by the progression of the Tudor line. The War of the roses was fairly complex. Queen Elizabeth I was great. It followed all the impacts of that line down to modern times.
the content of this book was excellent but the narrator was very poor (I listened to the audio book). The narrator was American and failed to pronounce many of the English place names correctly. It was also a bit repetitive but I learned a lot from the book
I loved this book. I want to give it 5+ stars. Content wise it was. There are some errors in dates and spelling that make it a little confusing. But I loved all it had to offer in the ways of learning!
What a great book . So much detail in it helped me immensely. Easy reading too. I borrowed it on Kindle Unlimited but seriously thinking of purchasing.
