I thought this was going to continue being a cute comic of the relationship between Chloe and Max, and in a way it was. Only it ended up giving me more heartache than I envisioned it would.
This comic was all over the place and it's plot didn't make a whole lot of sense. Only that Max is addicted to a painful lifestyle and does whatever she can to be with Chloe, even if it is another reality where Chloe is with Rachel. As long as she can keep an eye on Chloe.
↠ Genre: Graphic Novel, Contemporary, Supernatural, LGBT ↠ Pov: Multiple ↠ Type: Book 1 out of 4 in the Life Is Strange Waves Series ↠ Rating: 3,5 stars
Carrying on from the previous arc, Max has found herself in a new timeline, one in which both Chloe and Rachel are alive. One of my major complaints from the first arc was that Max and Chloe were in a romantic relationship and that Rachel was literally called nothing but Chloe's "confidante." In the second arc, Chloe and Rachel are the couple who are in a relationship together, and Max feels like a third wheel, having moved in with them. And she's unhappy that the other two girls are together, feeling left out and lonely. Being a Chloe/Rachel shipper, I can't say I'm happy that they are the established relationship in this timeline, because Max is jealous and acting like it's a bad thing.
Anyway...that's just my personal preference and opinion. As far as the non-shippy stuff in this issue goes, I was not that impressed. The girls are living in Santa Monica and barely scraping by. Max is a freelance artist, doing posters for local shops for free coffee and maybe a little pay. Chloe is an auto mechanic and a freelance sculptor. Weird. And Rachel Amber... Well, Rachel Amber is a YouTube makeup tip vlogger. So that's happening... o.O
In this issue, a strange boy keeps showing up in the coffee shop where Max is making advertisements for the owner. To me, he looks like a homeless Warren, but Max doesn't seem to recognize him; she just thinks he looks so sad, she wants to intervene before something bad happens to him. But we don't really learn anything about him at this point.
That's far more interesting then the forced relationship drama threatening to break Chloe and Rachel apart. This comic series is really hating on Rachel Amber and, frankly, I don't like it. It seems really biased because even if they try to portray them in a relationship like we saw in the game, they immediately try to break them up and gain sympathy for Max instead.
I love the art style in this series, man. It's so, so good. This was sort of a filler issue as they get this new story arc set up, but it presented us with a lot of interesting beginner threads that I'm interested to see play out - the main one being who the heck is that boy??
5 stars for the art style, man. I love it. It's so, so good. I've never liked summer or summer vibes and colours, but the combinaisons of yellow and blue and orange is making me feel... happy?
4.5 for the story, this feels like setting the tone for a new arc, espcially with the last page
This issue is a decent introduction to this chapter. Also the art is nice. I ship Amber Price, so it's nice they a future together and have it actually represented.
This series is one of those that just makes your heart ache at times and swell with love at times. You want so much for these characters. Loving where this is going so far. Can't wait to read more.
It's heartbreaking and feels so wrong after everything we went through with Chloe and Max. I was hoping to continue their romance and instead I get this. I'm not thrilled with the direction the authors have taken. Almost wish I hadn't bought the entire set of books in one go so I could bail now.

Every part of this collection draws me in deeper to this story, I'm so intrigued and excited to find out more! I'm loving this collection of comics so much!
How does this series keep getting better. This storyline and the possibilities and What Ifs, the timelines that it opened, I'm very curious to see how this unfolds.
