Two Sisters and Destiny

In this fantasy, two illegitimate princesses leave their home kingdom in search of a kingdom that one of the sisters, Ezabelle, has been foreseen to rule. Merione, the other sister, is a seer and seen visions of her sister’s rule but also of massive bloodshed to get it. The first part of the book details how they decide to leave their home in search of what they believe is their new one as well as their first couple months in this new land.

The book starts with a discussion between the two sisters. I have several sisters myself, and I thought the author did a good job showing a realistic dynamic between the siblings. But their relationship becomes strained as Ezabelle starts her plotting and planning in earnest once they reach the new land. Plans do come to fruition, but Ezabelle makes a terrible queen. What happens to both sisters? Plot twists await, full of intrigue, fate, and treachery.

I thought parts of this book felt rushed; the pacing wasn't quite right. We see a fair amount of the princesses when they discuss and choose to leave their home, but when they reach the new kingdom, we're all of a sudden given a bunch of information about what happens over the next couple months rather than being shown in revealing scenes and conversations. In fact, I would say the flaw in this book is that there is far too much telling instead of showing throughout.

The book had a couple of issues, including the common ones of with grammar, punctuation, and usage. Commas appeared to be particularly problematic, with ones missing after interrupters and between independent clauses in a compound sentence. Diction was problematic in a few places; for instance, counsel was confused with council in one spot.

Despite flaws, I'm curious to see what else happens in this series of books.

I just finished reading SpellBound by Thalia Blake. I must admit, I was captivated by the cover design of this book - the artwork is mesmerizing. The story itself was good, but not as captivating as the book cover. The story is interesting, but seems to be lacking in sufficient backstory about the loving (?) family relationship between Ezabelle (and her obsession with ruling), and Merione (and her mystical powers). The storyline timeline seems to jump, with little explanation, making it difficult to truly connect with the characters. The overall plot is engaging, but the ending felt rushed and chaotic. I believe this could be a riveting book, if there was more focus on character development and relationships, as well as expansion and greater depth to the conclusion. I'll be interested in seeing how the writing develops in upcoming books in the series.

ONE INCREDIBLE READ!!!
OMG! Talk about living on edge. A whirlwind of activities and events that keep you flipping page after page. One rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions to sort through. One amazing storyline and strong plot bring this read roaring to life beautifully. The characters were realistic with personalities and depth that drew you in. Sparks fly as suspense and intrigue ensues in epic proportions. All the drama, heart pounding, uncertainty and hard hitting, smooth flosing tale brings all the pieces together for one wild ride. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Thalia, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Wow this is a Fantastic read. Once you start reading you won't want to put it down. I was so into spellbound that I didn't realize the ending had came. It has Epic Magic. 2 sisters looking for there destiny. They have a very special Bond will that Bond stay strong. One becomes Queen and the other is the Queens way of knowing whats going to happen. I Love the Era this was written in. My favorite Character was Merione, she has to choose who to be faithful to. This is an Epic read, you definitely don't want to miss out on this read. This Author has brought a fantastic read to fruition. The Characters and there personalities really come through as you read. You really see the scenes in your mind.

I am so glad I discovered this new series from Thalia Blake, because it hits all of my favorite tropes: fantasy, adventure, dragons, and of course, brave women who don't need a Prince Charming to rescue them. SpellBound was such a pleasure to read, I couldn't put it down, and stayed up way past my bedtime more than one night just to see what was going to happen next. Merione was a brilliant and powerful heroine, which is something that is often lacking in YA fantasy. I also loved the unique take on sibling rivalry.

If you love adventure, you will love Spellbound. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

SpellBound

An adventure of magic and finding a placr where you belong in the world.
A kingdom where magic is forbidden. Yet one shy princess has the power and knows a bit how to use it. A sibling sister who is bossy and kinda kind in her own way. Loved how the author wraps you up in their magical world. Kinda hopes there will be a second book.

Two princesses and a vision of a sapphire crown. That's all they know. Or at least that's what the youngest is telling her sister. When the time comes they will journey to a land where their adventures and foundest dreams will come to fruit. But will that make them happy? And then there's a small little detail...a curse.

This is an amazing fantasy story, that veered off the usual plotlines, a woman fighting against destiny. It also shows that whatever your family does, you want to stay loyal to them as much Merione loves her sister until the very end. A hope, that in the end everything will be alright. But it is further from the truth and the end of the story will surprise you. I love the plots woven into the story, bravery and family and betrayal. Magic and the uncertainty of what the future holds. I definitely recommend this adventures story, that brings you too an uncertain closure of what will happen next.

Overall rating: 4.8.

This tale is jam packed with mystery, intrigue, corruption, and ill fated destiny! The relationship between siblings had my heart on an emotional rollercoaster! This takes the saying “things are not always the way they seem” to the next level! Absolutely loved this and I am wondering if each book in this series will be just as surprising! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

I was given this book free for a honest review. There was a lot about this story that I really enjoyed, and the writing is immaculate. Ezabelle was a character that I found hard to read about--but if that is the kind of bad guy you're into this book is for you. Merione was an excellent character, but I found it both refreshing and disappointing that there wasn't any romance. All in all, I would recommend this book to another who loves a strong female lead and high fantasy magic.

So this book feels like fate swept the main character along a inescapable current. Readers and Merione can see hints of what is to come. It's all very sad and heartbreaking actually. The ending was actually very satisfying though. I wouldn't call it a perfect ending, but everything turned out better than expected. I absolutely enjoyed this book. I received this book at no charge. All opinions are entirely my own.

Very adventurous, good vs evil sibling story. I felt sorry for Merione, she is a sweet character, her magic is powerful but she's very immature in it as well as her sisters intentions. Very interesting plot twists and full of betrayal, destiny comes at a high price for these sisters. The ending is shocking and I love it!! Don't underestimate the power of the stones. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.

Ezabelle and Merione are two sisters on a quest for a new home. They find it on the island of Mulrane. There Ezabelle becomes the Queen and Merione tries to help her sister with her visions. But things don’t go as planned as Ezabella is a horrible Queen and Merione becomes cursed by the disgraced mage.

This was a captivating story. I was instantly draw into the sisters plans to find a new home. We gets hints of what is to come with Merione’s visions and she can see the blood that is going to be spilled with Ezabelle’s rule. I loved Merione with her visions and magic. I felt for her as she wanted to be loyal to her sister but she has her own issues to work with.

This is a wonderful story that had me hooked from the first page. I hoped things would work out for the sisters but just knew that is not going to happen. I quickly devoured this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, A Captive Heart to find out what happens next.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

Overall, I was captivated by the story. There were several thrilling twists and turns and I was sucked in by Merione. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there were some significant plot holes that kept pulling me out of the story. Without those problems, I think this story could have easily ranked among my favorites.

I wanted to like this book. The premise had plenty of unique takes on common fantasy tropes.

The evolution of the main character didn't happen in a realistic manner. The twist at the end didn't match up with what had come before.
