An evening spent with the Redrocks' star pitcher is an evening you won't forget. Brayden Birks, starting pitcher for the St. George Redrocks, can’t wait to propose to his girlfriend. Tilly Creswick may not be perfect; but, she’s perfect for him. Tragedy strikes before Brayden can put the ring on her finger and he’s stripped down to his core, unsure of his place in the world of baseball and his ability to be a good husband. Tilly wasn’t looking for love. Love found her on a rocky outcrop one afternoon and it sank roots deep into her soul. Brayden may have broken her heart, but she’s made of cliffs and mountains and desert wind. She’ll weather through with the help of her friends, a matchmaking team owner, and prayer. As these two try to separate their lives, they’re drawn together over and over again as if their love is written in the stars they spent so many lazy nights gazing at as they planned their future family. A fiery kiss from Tilly awakens Brayden from his post-injury fog and the first thing he wants to fix the biggest mistake of his intentionally walking Tilly. He’ll go to great lengths to get her back, even if it means letting go of baseball and the dream he’s carried for a lifetime.
With that in mind, she's written over 200 novels full of fun and flirty characters who navigate the turbulent waters of romance with open hearts and creativity.

This book hit my sweet spot today! I think this book is my favorite of the series so far. It's hard to resist a sparky baseball romance and this one delivered a home run for me.
A delightful, contemporary romance. Brayden Birks, Redrocks' pitcher, and Tilly Creswick, an outdoor enthusiast, fell in love quickly. He's planned the perfect marriage proposal. Tragedy strikes before he achieves the goal. Grief clouds his mind causing him to make horrible decisions. Both of their hearts shatter. Their journey to recover is full of pain.
Lucy McConnell has done a fantastic job portraying the emotional damage that resulted from the tragedy. However, the period between tragedy, breakup, and reconciliation (the second and third required in the genre) was long and excruciating. The time between the implied recovery to a new normal and the end of the story was predominantly off-book. Nurse Natalie is a nightmare from her first appearance. The part that was shared was short and unsatisfying.
Romance, clean; series, but stand alone read Brayden and Tilly's story in this series was a poignant, heartfelt, romantic read, with a fun swirl of professional sports mixed in. As Brayden and Tilly deal with the aftermath of an accident, they have to figure out their new futures career wise and as a couple. As they muddle through their physical ailments, their personal feelings, and their new reality, miscommunications, and worries pull them apart. Fun characters, intense problems and worries, great side characters, and of course the perfect professional baseball team setting made for a great read, made even better by their honest, hurting hearts. Their chemistry was the element that made it all work together so well. Loved the brief mentions of characters from previous books in the series. It was fun to see them with their cameos. Great addition to this series and perfect read for me!
Initially, I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this. I generally read for escapism & tend more towards fun, fluffy stories. But the tragic part of the story isn't the focus & thankfully isn't milked for angst.
The focus is more on how the hero and heroine find their way when life happens while they were making other plans, as the saying goes. It is a little sad & frustrating, but no more than most romances. It also does a good job of coming across believably - except for Nurse Natalie, but she ended up being kind of amusing. The happily-ever-after is wonderfully satisfying.
This is a great read, but there was a pretty big issue at the end of the book where about 5 paragraphs are repeated. There were several edit errors here. Still, I really liked this book. I'm sure part of that is the fact that I love baseball.
Content: clean Language: clean Religious: There is a religious moment with one of her friend's friends that doesn't quite fit in the story.
Brayden is a pitcher and Tilly is his rock climbing girlfriend. He wants to ask her to marry him so they go rock climbing even though he's not supposed to because of the risk. He gets distracted thinking about the proposal and ends up falling, ending his baseball career. They both have guilt over the accident but Brayden pulls away thinking he's going to be a burden. Will they be able to overcome their misunderstanding and trust in their love?
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Pitcher Brayden Birks was injured in a climbing accident and can no longer pitch so the team moves him to coaching his replacement. He breaks up with his girlfriend Tilly, and they both have a hard time with it. As she tries to move forward by dating other men, he objects. An interesting look at emotions and decisions due to an accident and the ways those decisions affect others.
This story best all of them in the series so far. It was amazing, heartwarming (and breaking at times), and honestly quite a bit inspiring. It's amazing to read everything they went through and how they grow and strengthen on their own as well as in relationships. The storyline was fantastic and the ending was wonderful. This is a fantastic read for anytime but in summer or spring you'll definitely feel that extra sunshine warmth.
Hmmm! People who spend too much time in their heads and can’t see the whole picture. It was great to see how Brayden and Tilly managed to work through their problems and insecurities.
This was such a fun story. All of the characters, especially the baseball players were great. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. This is a really sweet, clean romance.
This is a cute, sweet romance centered around one of my favorite fictitious baseball teams. I enjoyed visiting with friends from the first two books and meeting new friends here. I hope the Juan gets a story someday.
I really enjoyed Brayden and Tilly's story. Brayden's injury really sent him into a downward spiral. While he was down, some of it hit to close to home for me. But, I love the whole baseball family group of characters and the setting in beautiful St. George Utah.
The only reason I give this three stars is because this trope is hard for me. But it is SO well written, I still highly recommend it. Lucy McConnell hits it out of the park with this whole series.
When a career changing accident happens and changes life all the way, how do you handle your emotions? This romantic story helps address this for a HEA.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one! I loved the connection to the baseball play and their situation. This was sweet and clean, I'd rate it PG for kissing and thematic situations.
