Ten delightful—and standalone—novellas linked by one matchmaking week. You’ll want to devour each one!
MET HER MATCH: Two old friends. One unexpected reunion.
Parasailing captain Pemberley Truitt has almost grasped a sense of home after two years in the Bahamas. While she misses her family, she’s never felt like she fits in; especially when it comes to TruLove, their family’s matchmaking business. When her brother calls and begs her help with the now struggling company, she’s happy to oblige and obtain the chance to find her place with them. But then she discovers she’ll have to work with Tobias Bradshaw. The last time she saw him, he broke her heart.
Tobias Bradshaw is ready for his love life to be as successful as his winning record in the courtroom. Which is why he agrees to his friend’s two-fold plea: professionally research Joy Island’s matchmaking service and personally be matched himself. No objections there. Until Pemberley Truitt crosses his path again, and she looks about as happy to see him as someone chosen for jury duty. It’s fine. He’s faced hostile witnesses before. Except he soon realizes he wants more than a temporary working relationship. He’s taken on difficult opposition in court before, but this time he’ll need more than a persuasive argument if he hopes to win Pem’s heart.

Susan L. Tuttle is a best-selling, multi-published author of small town, midwestern romances featuring ordinary people discovering extraordinary love. Her critically acclaimed novel Love You, Truly was an ACFW Carol Award finalist. As a former homeschooling mom, current pastor’s wife and women’s ministry leader at a large church, Susan loves to help women discover how their worth and identity are found in Christ, not the many roles they fill. She often shares that encouragement in her quarterly newsletter and on her Instagram page. When she’s not writing or serving her church and community, you can find her cozied up in one of her many favorite cardigans, sipping coffee, and obsessively eating cookies. She also enjoys hiking with her husband—to burn those cookie calories. Susan lives in Michigan with her family and a very spoiled Borderdoodle named Finley Frank.
This sweet little novella is everything I love in a book. It is jam packed, there was depth and meaning, truth and pain, romance and Jesus. The characters were real and easy to love!
Tobias has such a hard time trusting someone with his heart. He plans out every detail of his life so he doesn't have to deal with surprises. But he learns that sometimes surprises add to your life, and they're exactly what God has planned.
Pemberely (Pem) just wants to find a place she feels she belongs. Where those around her make her feel welcome and wanted. Her hurts were sad to read, but she also needed to learn to trust that if she just trusts God with her heart, He'll lead her where she needs to be.
Thank you, Susan Tuttle for this absolutely fun, romantic, destination book (I needed a warm Bahamian breeze)! It was exactly what I needed and was a delight to read!
I received a complementary copy of this book. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I read this sweet little romance by a newly discovered (to me) and quickly becoming favorite ( again, to me 😉 )author, Susan Tuttle. I enjoyed reading this book set in the tropical destination of the Bahamas during a typical Michigan winter week. It was the perfect getaway! We went from whiteout conditions with massive snowfall and -35 degree wind chills during which nearly the entire State shut down for a day or two and schools were closed for the week to almost 50 degrees and rain just a few days later and then woke up two mornings in a row to everything iced over with freezing rain (flash freeze tonight and lake effect snow following 😂)! This book was a nice break from the crazy weather. I enjoyed reading the story of Tobias and Pem, each who came to this relationship with a lot of baggage and more than a couple preconceived ideas of what the other thought and felt. Pem also had a strained relationship with her family and took a “if you can’t join them, leave them” stance. It was interesting to see how they all worked through the issues with God as their guide to come together not only as a couple but mending family relationships as well. Such a fun, positive book! Now I want to go somewhere warm!!!!
As with all the books in this collection, I'm simply delighted to recommend that you read it! Susan L. Turtle is a gifted author. She bring humor, drama, fun, and romance to this sweet story. She has a wonderful skill of weaving in God's message to us. One of the themes is how forgiveness is healing. This is something Pemberly and Tobias are both dealing with and need to implement in their lives. The same as many of us! When we choose to forgive it frees us to receive God's many blessings. I love how this book connects so well with all the other books in the collection. I highly recommend you pick this book up and read it.
Susan's novella is part of a great collection and her addition makes the collection even greater. This is the second book by Susan that I have read. Each time she finds a way to get to my heart. Even though this is a fun beach read there are moments when I found myself teary-eyed. It's as if her writing touches the tender places in my spirit that God is working on. She speaks truths that need to be said in such a compassionate way. Her writing is worth your time to read.
Susan L. Tuttle has added a sweet story of second chances to the Resort to Romance series. Met Her Match pairs Pemberly and Tobias, two old friends who have met before. Pem had no idea that helping her brother would put her in contact with Tobias once more. She had already run from that relationship and wasn’t intending to do it again. Well, neither was Tobias. Sometimes life doesn’t follow our intentions! If you love a good second chances story, this one is delightful.
Absolutely delightful read! This book took me away to a beautiful island with character that left me wanting more.
Pemberely has been running away from her troubles since her father passed but but when her older brother decided to use the family business to connect her with her "perfect" match she is forced to look at things in a new light.
This author has a beautiful way of weaving biblical truths into truly delightful stories and I highly recommend this newest addition to her tales.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am enjoying this series, and this was a great installment. Susan L. Tuttle created believable and relatable characters, and their story was interesting.
What a fun and romantic story! This is one of the installments in the new Resort to Romance series.
The Resort to Romance series is about Joy Island in the Bahamas where people can go to be matched up with a potential love interest for a week in paradise. This particular story focuses on Pemberley and Tobias. Pemberley has been living in the Bahamas as a parasailing captain and agrees to help her brothers and their family matchmaking company. Family friend Tobias also agrees to come to Joy Island to help do some some research for TruLove.
What results is a week of fun in the sun, reconciliation, and dealing with the past. Can Pemberley and Tobias move past their past? You'll have to read to find out.
I was given a copy in exchange for my honest review.
I really liked the spiritual emphasis that until God is first in a person's heart, they aren't ready for a serious relationship with another person. I like having several books set in the same location too, as you get to know some of the characters who show up again and again. Enjoyable read.
Pem and Tobias have a history. And it’s not all good. So you know when the two of them get together sparks are going to happen. Pem tends to run when the going gets tough and Tobias has trouble trusting others. Pems family run a dating organisation and want to get ideas from a similar company in the Bahamas. Pem moved to the Bahamas a few years earlier and her brother calls in a favour, asking her to fill in for someone who hasn’t arrived yet. Little does she know that her match is Tobias, the man she ran from several years ago. Cue misunderstandings, dates and a budding romance which is real, moving and affected by the mistakes of the past. I loved this story. The characters leapt off the pages and I really felt their insecurities and struggles. There were lots of light hearted moments too and let’s just say I’m totally with Tobias when it comes to feeding sharks! A lengthy novella which combines faith and romance in a genuine way. What’s not to love about that?!
Are you a Runner? If so then make sure you run in the right direction
Okay, I admit I am directionally challeged. In this book, the hard lessons learned often have simple solutions with uncomfortable must do actions to get the results. Always it is coming to the reality that we have moved away from Jesus that wakes us up. Sometimes we move purposefully (aka running away: unwilling to face something difficult and our part in it) and sometimes we get distracted and drift (concerns for worldly things, “old tapes”) Bottom line is there is always another perspective. Not only does the Word help but others help us on our oath: iron sharpens iron. Both Tobias and Pem learn this about themselves and each other. I was convicted by their courage to look at themselves and their wounds/perspectives closely. To run to God. They turned their lives around and understood God more. Reminder to self: Running to Him is better than running from Him.
I am really enjoying this series! All the authors and their stories thus far have been outstanding. The humor is awesome. I will read the entire series!
What a sweet contemporary matchmaking story! Set in the Bahamas, Susan L. Tuttle's Met Her Match is a second chance romance where machinations of the matchmaking sort happen behind the scenes and within them, too. It is the story of two broken people, the struggle to fit in, accepting each others faults, and learning to run to God instead of running away from the hard things in life.
A fun, touching, and quick read, Met Her Match is part of the Resort to Romance multi-author series of linked novellas and I'm hoping they all feature the spritely pair of professional matchmaker sisters who run the week-long matchmaking event at a resort in the Bahamas. Luckily, I have at least one more of the ten novellas waiting on my e-reader.
Recommended.
This review refers to a kindle e-book. A review of any kind was not required and all opinions expressed are my own.
Pemberley is a runner. Whenever things get tough, she runs away. After embarrassing herself by kissing her brothers' best friend Tobias, who apparently didn't feel the same towards her (he really did care for her, but had reservations about her because she was known for running away), she fled to her family's beach house in the Bahamas and spend the next two years working as a parasailing guide. Then Tobias appears back in her life. Her brother sent him to research the Joy Island matchmaking week. Her brothers run a matchmaking company in Michigan and her brother is looking for more ideas. Anyhow, Pem and Tobias reconnect. It is a good story. I'd like the author to write stories for Pem's brothers and their matchmaking venture. It'd be pretty interesting.
Writing a novella can be tricky. There needs to be a connection between the characters that does not seem contrived (such as they were married within a week), but also not so much back story that the whole book is about the past. I think that Tuttle did an excellent job about connecting the characters as well as the story line. What else I appreciated is the fact that she connected the characters' need to find God first without sounding preachy! I look forward to reading another book by this author. P.S. How can you not like a book set in the Bahamas?
Tobias, has trust issues and Pem, feels like she doesn't belong when her brother asks for help she is faced with her past and has a ton of underlying issues she needs to deal with. What a fun laid back read. This book was a super fun book to read and it was also a quick read. I also loved how this book was a good clean read and suitable for all ages. If you are looking for a fun quick read you can't go wrong with.
I rarely give out 5 stars for a novella because they usually are just too short for that fully developed, fully encompassing feel that you get from a five star novel. However! This novella was perfectly balanced! Just the right pacing, just the right amount of romance, just the right amount of character development just the right amount of everything! It is a novella that gives all the right amount of feels! I am convinced that there is nothing that this author can't write!
Super cute novella. I hadn’t read it right away, because I’m the review there was mistrust seemed like a key to the story and that just isn’t my favorite between characters. This was so well done though and it only made sense for most of the time it was part of the story. I loved Pemberly. I totally don’t get the traveling to far off places and adventuring aspect of her personality, but the running when scared I totally get! I love how she worked through some of that though.
“Two old friends. One expected reunion.” This is one of my favorite tag lines! Met Her Match was a delight to read! From the setting (hello Bahamas!) to the unique situation the characters find themselves in, this story was full of fun and romance, while also shining a light on forgiveness and finding self-worth.
This is a good quick read. The book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand a lone. Both characters are trying to overcome past family issues and forgiveness. There are funny moments in the book. Just be careful if you feed the sharks.😉
I love second chance stories and this one was lovely. The characters were delightful and funny. Most of all I love the message that God is the only one to fill a void in our hearts.
